It looks almost like an emerald shape diamond with its four corners.

The older style of emerald cut is usually square in shape, but usually you see today the modern rectangular cut of the emerald diamond.
The emerald cut has a subtle look and has less of a flash look than brilliant cut diamonds. This particular shaped diamond is usually used as a centre stone, with baguettes either side of it possibly for an engagement ring. Platinum settings are very popular at the moment because it teams itself so well to the cool elegant look of the emerald cut diamond.

It’s time for my list. I will be working on it, because there are still some things(latest Swell Season, Devendra Banhart, Julie Doiron etc.) that I have to hear. Recommendations are very welcome! Also, some albums might have scored higher/lower than I reviewed them, simply because I listen to them so much. I’m gonna try to review them all. Anyway, some of my favourites:Dan Mangan – Nice, Nice, Very Nice [9.5/10] [review]
I think this is my favourite album from this year. Cute, teddy-bear-ish-looking singer-songwriter from Canada. He makes you feel loved inside. Good, strong and dynamic songs, nice vocals, very good instrumental work, wonderful lyrics. The best indie pop album from this year. It’s unbelievable that he’s just 26(25?) (date-material! haha!). Dan’s a keeper and you should keep your eye on him!
Again, a masterpiece made by Andrew Bird. It’s balanced, beautiful and unique. It’s pop, folk, it’s wonderful. I only miss the electric guitar a bit. Still, great lyrics, interesting, wonderful compositions and vocally pretty strong. Useless Creatures is the best instrumental CD I’ve ever heard, might have even listened more to that one than to Noble Beast. Simply beautiful.
Annie Clark manages to float above her instrumental chaos. Or at least, it looks like that. Her compositions are actually well made. Vocally, Clark is really strong. It’s a pretty unique CD that you’ll love or you’ll hate. I love it. (read the review I did)

Jesca Hoop – Hunting My Dress [8.8/10]
To me, she’s live even stronger. Hoop mixes various styles and makes them her own. Great guitar work, great vocals. It might sound weird during your first listen, but it will grow. Especially ‘Murder of Birds’ is a wonderful track.

Andrew Bird – Noble Beast/Useless Creatures [9.5/10]

St. Vincent – Actor [9/10] [review]

A.A. Bondy – When The Devil’s Loose[8.7/10] [review]
I know I didn’t give A.A. Bondy such a high mark in my review. But the album did really grow on me. One of the best folk albums made this year. I listen to it a lot lately, so points for that!
The Avett Brothers – I and Love and You [8/10]
This album is really a ‘grower’, after a while you like it more and more. The Avett Brothers sound really ‘natural’. It might not really be my genre of music, but I love this album. Titletrack ‘I and Love and You’ is a rare song, it’s extremely beautiful. You might have to get used to the(ir) voice(s), but it’s worth it. Overall a very nice album.

Simple funky and happy. Don’t expect any musical obscurity from these guys. Erlend Øye got a great voice, some great lyrics and made some great music on this album. Strong bass lines, percussion and light guitar work. But after a while, it get’s a bit repetitive. Still a very nice album, best song to me is ‘1517′. Laura Gibson – Beasts of Seasons[7.5/10]
Dreamy folk songs. Gibson got a great voice. This album stands out for it’s simplicety. Her songs are pretty vocally driven, with often some light guitar work underneath it. But also you hear some piano notes every now and then. The perfect album for a sunny autumn day.
Franz Ferdinand – Tonight[7.2/10]
Surprising new album from Franz Ferdinand. They changed their sound a bit, having more electronics in it. It’s still not difficult to dance on. They didn’t lose their Franz sound. Points for that.
Grizzly Bear – Veckatimest[7/10]
Pretty interesting album, on moments to difficult for me to understand maybe. There are some ‘killer-tracks’ on it, but overall it’s just a pretty solid, nice, album that isn’t really my cup of tea at moments
Regina Spektor – Far [7/10]
Not as strong as ‘Begin to Hope’, but again a very good album. Spektor goes from weird classical stuff to pop, not being afraid of sounding ’silly’. Vocally strong, but you have to love her voice. No complains about her instrumental stuff, but it’s not really ‘new’. (Best tracks of the album are ‘Laughing With’ and ‘Folding Chair’, these are perfect songs)
Wilco - Wilco(the album) [7/10]
Wilco delivered another good album. Still, it can’t beat Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, but it’s a good try. It’s again the typical Wilco sound(that isn’t really my sound). But it’s a strong, balanced album.

The Whitest Boy Alive – Rules[7.5/10]

Albums I want to mention but that aren’t quite my taste(though, I like some songs):

Soap&Skin – Lovetune for Vacuum
It’s too dark and obscure for me. It feels pretty creepy. But still, pretty good. (yeah, I don’t know much more to say about this one)

Zee Avi – Zee Avi
Too light and too bubbly for me. Pretty good debut album from this singer-songwriter. She mixes light, bubbly pop with a bit of jazz. Think Jack Johnson if he was a girl and used a ukulele more.

Portugal. The Man – The Satanic Satanist
Good album, but I think it’s too ‘heavy’ for me. Though, I do like the poppy ‘Work All Day’, ‘People Say’ and ‘The Sun’. Recommended for everyone who’s ears can handle more noise than mine.

Great Lake Swimmers – Lost Channels [review]
A more upbeat album from Tony Dekker and company. It does work out, but I like their slow, acoustic stuff more. Still a great album if you like them and do like songs such as ‘Your Rocky Spine’.

M. Ward – Hold Time
For all M. Ward lovers: Hold Time is a typical M. Ward album. His strongest point is his voice, and he uses is good. To me, M. Ward is a bit boring, there’s not much happening in his music. But that’s the only critic I can think of, so I guess it’s a nice album.

Alexi Murdoch – Time Without Consequence
The album kicks of great. I first thought that this would be a great album. But in the end, the songs are too long. Because of that, this album will sound repetive. Bad, it could have been much better.

A.A. Bondy is not really a big name. Neither are Great Lake Swimmers or St. Vincent (I reviewed them

A.A. Bondy is not really a big name. Neither are Great Lake Swimmers or St. Vincent (I reviewed them before), but they’re still bigger(a respectively 235.000 and 220.000 listeners on last.fm compared to not even 20.000 for mr. Bondy).

A.A. Bondy is the birth name (initials stand for Auguste Arthur) of Scott Bondy, former lead singer of grunge band Verbana. (A.A. Bondy doesn’t really like to be remembered of that history I’ve heard) Verbana broke up in 2003 and Bondy retreated to his Catskills home in upstate New York. At that time he began writing songs, stripped-down indie folk songs. He recorded and mixed his debut (solo) album, ‘American Hearts’, at a barn near his home, releasing it in 2007. The album was picked up by Fat Possum and re-released in early 2008. This year A.A. Bondy released ‘When The Devil’s Loose’.

First of all, ‘When The Devil’s Loose’ is a decent folk album. Bondy has excellent guitar skills and a really nice voice to listen too. At first, it seems a rather peaceful album. That’s Bondy’s talent, sounding peaceful, decent and calm, while singing pretty dark lyrics.

The album kicks off with ‘The Mightiest of Guns’. It’s a peaceful song with rather ‘visual’ lyrics. It’s a strong song. But it’s not only this song, the album has a pretty good amount of strong folk songs with pretty visual lyrics. Bondy sings most of the time in first person, singing in the ‘I’ form. It fells like he’s having a sort of conversation with you. It also adds something to how much you believe in. I do believe every word he sings. He’s not my favourite songwriter, but I enjoy listening to his lyrics.

Highlights on the album (for me) are ‘I Can See the Pines are Dancing’ and ‘When the Devil’s Loose’. ‘When The Devil’s Loose’, the title track, is a pop influenced track. It also has a lot instruments in it compared to some other tracks. The violin, the bumping bass, strong guitar work and Bondy’s voice make a perfect track. ‘I Can See the Pines are Dancing’ is on the same level. Another song I really like is ‘Oh the Vampyre’, surprisingly, it’s about vampires. I’m not a vampire fan, but the lyrics are pretty good in this one.

Musically, Bondy’s strong too. His arrangements sound simple, but definitely aren’t. It’s one of Bondy’s talent, sounding peaceful, decent and calm, while singing pretty dark lyrics. His skills on guitar are pretty good. I’ll definitely add some songs to my repertoire. Don’t think it’s only a sweet acoustic guitar, if you’re looking for that, you’re wrong with Bondy. Some electric guitar work is on it too and you’ll also hear piano on some tracks, like the piano ballad ‘On The Moon’. Nearly every track has some sort of percussion and another guitar or some bass isn’t rare too.
Another thing that really bugged me is that this album somewhat sounds like a copy of his first album ‘American Hearts’. There is not a lot new sounding stuff, and A.A. Bondy didn’t really experiment at all. The albums could be switched in timeline easily, you wouldn’t notice. I think it would actually benefit if he might try some new things, at least, trying doesn’t hurt. The conclusion can be short: if you enjoyed his first album or like pretty nice strong folk songs; I would definitely go for it.

His songs are natural and ‘earth-y’. They’re pure. Bondy’s voice is sweet and soft. It’s just lovely to listen too.

Overall it is definitely a good album, and I listen to it quite a lot. Good, strong folk songs. Good lyrics and overall nice arrangements.

Matthew 26:6-15 While Jesus was in Bethany in the home of a man known as Simon the Leper, a woman ca

Matthew 26:6-15

While Jesus was in Bethany in the home of a man known as Simon the Leper, a woman came to him with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, which she poured on his head as he was reclining at the table. When the disciples saw this, they were indignant. “Why this waste?” they asked. “This perfume could have been sold at a high price and the money given to the poor.” Aware of this, Jesus said to them, “Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a beautiful thing to me. The poor you will always have with you, but you will not always have me. When she poured this perfume on my body, she did it to prepare me for burial. I tell you the truth, wherever this gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her.” Then one of the Twelve—the one called Judas Iscariot—went to the chief priests and asked, “What are you willing to give me if I hand him over to you?” So they counted out for him thirty silver coins. From then on Judas watched for an opportunity to hand him over.

Today’s chapter was the meatiest of the 26 we have studied to date in the gospel of Matthew and therefore it would’ve been a challenge to understand what God wanted us to hear today. However, the 2 tales of money mentioned above caught my eye as amazing. On one side, you have the lady who spent a fortune on an expensive perfume and poured it into Jesus’ hair and on the other side, Judas offers to lead Jesus’ enemies to Jesus for a lot of money. When you look at the question asked by the disciples and the one asked by Judas, don’t you see such an amazing contrast. On one side, the disciples are asking if all that money was worth pouring on Jesus’s head and on the other, Judas is trying to understand how much Jesus’ head was worth? What a crazy contrast?

In your eyes, what is the cost you are willing to pay to follow Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? Is there any value that you can put to following Christ when you are guaranteed that following him means walking against the grain of this world resulting in persecution? Are you trying to weigh the cost? If you are, know this that the gain of loosing yourself to Christ is to share eternity in heaven with him, long after our physical bodies turn to dust on this earth. It’s about spiritual blessings that far outweigh all the material blessings this world has to offer and a chance to communicate with your maker which we were robbed off by our sinfulness and filthiness that stands no ground before God the father.

Visit www.thediamondclub.com.au for more information

There is a truly unique diamond in the marketplace. It’s added value is in what it stands for; itself notwithstanding the visual art of the diamond. It is extremely difficult to craft from a single rough diamond, which makes the achievement unique.

It glitters into seven colours of the rainbow. It is the diamond Buddha. As you may know the Buddhist philosophy is represented by Buddha. Consequently the shape adds value above the intrinsic worth of the stone.

This particular diamond is known as the Tabiz diamond in the Western world and known as the Taveez in the East. The Tabiz diamond is flat and triangular in shape with little to no girdle, all of the weight is spread out and the stone appears much larger than its actual weight. There are no set number of facets, the more facets there are, the better the stone catches the light. The Tabiz is faceted on both sides, which is unusual for a diamond. It gives it the ability to be very flat, creating a “watery” appearance. The stones are “drilled” like a bead, which best suits necklaces and earrings.
