WHOA. IMAGE-HEAVY. APOLOGIES? 

Wow. I was just looking through a RANDOM community on LJ, film_stills and I started geeking out and feeling all inspired. There were tons of caps of some of my favourite obscure (ish) movies. I figured I’d post some of them here for you to fawn over.

Films are the most inspirational art medium to me (and this is coming from Meg the photographer). I admire many more filmmakers than I do photographers. I don’t know what that says, maybe I’m into the wrong hobby? I think if I could do anything it would filmmaking in some way. I think photography is amazing and so many photographers and photos inspire me in different ways but… I can’t tell you the buzz I get off certain films. I think to successfully convey an idea on film is just a magical talent that is nearly impossible to possess. these are just some random caps but they are unbelievably inspiring to me. I hope you feel the same way after seeing some of them (and if you haven’t seen the movies you MUST!!! the caps almost don’t do them justice!!!) 

(1966) Michelangelo Antonioni’s Blow-Up 

the best movie you’ve never seen. it’s based on David Bailey’s life, and plus you have the brilliant David Hemmings playing him with tons of hilarious and ironic references (Verushka, the Yardbirds?!) it’s such a good film. I don’t know many people who have seen this one so… put it on your blockbuster/netflix queue. now.

(2006 I think?) Shane Meadows’ This Is England

I love this film. I can’t even descibe it to you. Not to sound condescending here, but most Americans won’t get this film (I don’t get parts of it either) so I don’t know if I should recommend it to you or not. This move affected me so deeply. the imagery is so. gorgeous. though, so that alone is worth it I think.

(2007) David Cronenberg’s Eastern Promises

Cronenberg, (a naked) Viggo Mortensen, Vincent Cassel, Naomi Watts. What else do I have to say? This is ALMOST as amazing as History of Violence (and that’s saying a lot).

(1962 I think?) Francios Truffaut’s Jules Et Jim

(1963) Federico Fellini’s 8 1/2

don’t speak to me if you haven’t seen this film. I can’t explain to you how incredible I think it is.

(2007) Anton Corbijn’s Control

Whatever, don’t need to talk about this. I know if you’re reading this you’ve seen it. It’s the most beautifully shot film of the decade bar There Will Be Blood. let the pictures speak for themselves… 

(2001) Richard Kelly’s Donnie Darko 

(2003) Bernardo Bertolucci’s The Dreamers

Alright I’m biased. It has all my favourite actors in it in my favourite time period. But it is a nearly perfect film about 1960s Paris. I don’t understand all the hate it receives one bit. 

(2007) Wes Anderson’s Hotel Chevalier 

I love this ???short??? (it comes before the Darjeeling Limited) and I HATE. HATE. HATE. Wes Anderson and most of his bullshit movies. It’s such a beautiful film (idk what to call it).

(2005) Alfonso Cuaron’s A Little Princess

Just saw this in the comm and I almost fainted when I found out it was a Cuaron. I loved this film so much as a kid. I guess looking at the caps I should have guessed it was Alfonso… 

(2007) Bailie Walsh’s Lord Don’t Slow Me Down

there’s no shit I’m biased, but this is the best music doc of all time. Frankly I don’t give a fuck if you don’t like Oasis or think they’re all dicks and their music all sounds the same, if you like films you will love Lord Don’t Slow Me down.  Here are some caps to prove it.

this  was my first “favourite movie of all time.” I’m so glad Danny Boyle is finally getting American recognition with Slumdog but he should have gotten it with Trainspotting. It’s a perfect movie.

Man mochte seinen eigenen Augen nicht trauen als man gestern in einschlägigen Foren von dem Leak der Tracks erfahren hatte. Nach vielen Geschichten, Aussagen von Noel und vielen Fakes hat “Stop The Clocks” nun doch noch den Weg zu den Fans gefunden, zudem wurden zwei weitere Titel die lange durch die Geschichte geisterten der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich gemacht. Desweiteren ist ebenfalls eine Version von “Lord Don’t Slow Me Down” aufgetaucht, allerdings mit Liam am Gesangsmikro sowie bisher unbekannte Demos diverser Stücke der letzten LP. Die Aufnahmen stammen aus dem Produktionsprozess des letzten Albums “Don’t Believe The Truth” und somit sollen die Titel kein Thema mehr für die kommende Platte sein, welche im September erscheinen soll.

Wer die Stücke ins Internet gestellt hat ist bisher nicht bekannt. Man könnte sogar von einer Kampagne aus dem Umkreis der Band ausgehen, denn Virales Marketing hat in letzter Zeit Hochkonjunktur und bringt häufig die gewünschte Aufmerksamkeit. Wer die Songs bisher noch nicht gehört hat kann sich die Mp3s ganz gemütlich hier herunterladen und sich selbst ein Bild davon machen, uns gefällt es jedenfalls.

Los hermanos Gallaguer y compañía se apuntan a esto de la descarga digital y lanzan al mercado a través de la red de redes su último sencillo. Publicado el 21 de octubre para promocionar el documental homónimo de Oasis, el tema fue descartado para formar parte de Don’t Believe the Truth (2005) por su creador, Noel Gallaguer. En lo referente a su acogida por el público, Lord Don’t Slow Me Down debutó en el décimo puesto del ranquin británico de singles (dos solos de batería en poco más de tres minutos no merecían menos).

El DVD de Oasis es de aquellos que dan envidia. Y no de la buena, sino de la malsana, la que irrita y te hace odiar no ser ellos. El documental Lord Don’t Slow Me Down, a la venta en unos días y que el festival In-Edit acogió en su proramación, recoge la gira mundial que Oasis realizaron en 2005 presentando su mejor disco en años, Don’t Believe The Truth. Y si bien no puede decirse que la banda pase por un óptimo estado de forma (digamos que el grupo son los dos hermanos Gallagher, y muy bien no es que se lleven), su popularidad sigue subiendo y, qué demonios, ¿a quién no le gustaría vivir su vida? Liam y Noel ya lo comentan en las entrevistas que contiene el DVD, ¿cómo van a quejarse de la vida que llevan? Viajar, tocar, estar con sus amigos, emborracharse con sus amigos, tener todo lo que pidan (ellos y/o sus amigos). Sería una injusticia: lo mínimo que pueden hacer es disfrutar y hacer felices a sus fans.

El caso es que en Lord Don’t Slow Me Down no sólo tienes envidia de Liam y Noel Gallagher, sino de todo el séquito que los acompaña, y que saborea las mieles del éxito pese a prácticamente ser músicos mercenarios (ya sé que no llegan a tal extremo, pero casi) y con la ventaja de no tener la presión (de medios, de discográficas, etc) de Liam y Noel. Vamos, un chollo. El documental merece la pena para curioso de backstages varios -absténganse los envidiosos compulsivos-, y para constatar que Liam Gallagher, el cantante, parece un ente aparte en el grupo: casi nunca está con sus compañeros, y se muestra como el más irascible de todos, siendo Noel mucho más irónico, sociable y, también, cabronazo: en cada entrevista aprovecha para rajar a base de bien de su querido hermanito. Memorable.

Un final de documental como el presente, con audiencias de todo el mundo cantando a vivo pulmón ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ sólo hace que tu envidia se transforme en piel de gallina, y que reconozcas que, pese a todo, pese a la envidia, sus borderías, su chulería, su acento cerrado, sus pintas, pese a absolutamente todo, estos dos hermanitos maleducados y normalmente odiosos han escrito algunas de las canciones más memorables de la historia. Y punto pelota.

Es gibt wieder etwas Neues von Oasis! Anfang der Woche ist das 2DVD-Set Lord Don’t Slow me Down erschienen. Dieses enthält hauptsächlich eine 90-minütige Tourdoku + ein TV-Interview mit Mastermind Noel Gallagher. Auf der 2. DVD befindet sich dann noch ein Konzertmitschnitt des 2005er Heimspiels in Manchester. Mit dem Erwerb werde ich aufgrund der eher durchwachsenen Kritiken aber wohl noch warten, bis der Preis auf ein attraktiveres Level fällt.

Achja, falls Euch der Typ da auf dem Cover irgendwie bekannt vorkommt: auf der Lord Me Up! Aktionsseite kann man Liams Konterfei auf dem Cover durch das eigene ersetzen …

Oggi 26 ottobre 2007,esce in tutto il mondo “Lord don’t slow me down”, il rockumentario sulla vita degli OASIS in tour. Di questo documentario rock ne era stata mandata in onda una versione ridotta in esclusiva su Mtv Italia quest’estate (a giugno). Chi l’ha visto saprà di cosa stiamo parlando: questo è ROCK’N’ROLL!!! La vita di una rock star,anzi delle Rockstar con la “R” maiuscola;gente che non l’ha mandata a dire proprio a nessuno,neppure ai Blur con cui erano in competizione nel 1997 (“spero muoia di AIDS” disse Noel di Demon Albarn) e neppure ai giornalisti e questo film ne è la prova! Conoscete lo stereotipo del Rocker sempre scazzato e incazzato con tutti,che suona solo per il sesso e la droga (anzi,dice Liam,fanculo la droga e la musica:solo il sesso!!!)che combina sempre casini e fa a botte quando è sbronzo (cioè quasi sempre) e crede di essere il migliore? Questo è Liam Gallagher,pronto a fare a botte in ogni pub,pronto ad andarsene dopo 10 minuti di concerto,ad interrompere un tour,a salire sul palco completamente ubriaco… Non dovete far altro che guardarvi questo dvd, pieno di musica ma anche di momenti di puro rock’n’roll. **E’ uscito oggi,in 2 dvd con sottotitoli in italiano! Il singolo invece è disponibile solo in digitale (per la prima volta nella storia della band mancuniana). Non vorrei ripetere così spesso questa parola ma lo spirito incarnato da questi ragazzi è quello di altri tempi,quello vero quello che s’era un po’ perso negli anni novanta sull’onda del giunge: lo spirito del rock!

E questo dvd è la risposta alla famosa domanda: il rock è morto? Risposta: no e adesso ne ho le prove….

También formarán parte del material una actuación muy especial de los hermanos Gallagher en Manchester el pasado 2005 y algunos vídeos que los fans han prestado para la ocasión.

En el caso del nuevo álbum, cabe decir que los de Manchester siguen trabajando con la vista puesta en 2008 y ya se les ha visto entrando en el estudio. Así lo han confirmado en la revista New Musical Express, donde sin embargo no han aclarado en qué fecha exacta verá la luz.
