Now, there is no reason to be afraid. I do not know what it is, but for some reason, the mere thought of a SLR camera sends many potential buyers into the camera madness. Even sophisticated computer tech-geek in the crowd begins to break a sweat and all nervous to take pictures with a SLR. Perhaps they had recovered a bad experience with an SLR camera as a child and never really far away. It 'really hard to say why. But what I know is that the SLRCameras today are not the same lens reflex, like a small child would panic of a generation ago.

E 'surprisingly easy work of SLR camera. I do not know why people no longer the owner of this book. In fact, if you had a digital camera over the past decade, chances are very good that your better equipped to deal with the proper functioning of a digital SLR. The gap between compact cameras and SLRs decreased in recent years, although on fronts years. FirstMany people do not realize the price. You can easily play SLR for about $ 500 currently. This is more or less the same price you pay for top compact cameras.

Addition, the usability factor is much closer to both. Constructed, especially if you buy an SLR, the producer himself, as the camera in existence. Since everything is on a digital camera today so Oriented Software, chances are that the SLR has many of the sameThe menu options, buttons and preferences that will make your compact. They are of course more of them, but the starter will be basic. One of the most famous products is available is the automatic setup. I know that my compact Canon 8 years has some parameters, such as the Canon Digital Rebel SLR T1i month.

If you have any gadget geek in you, you go to an explosion in digital SLR cameras currently on the market, AnythingCanon Rebel or Nikon D40 D60 are good starting points. Once you get bored with the parameters of the machine, then you can appease your inner creative geek with all kinds of manual settings to play with. What is truly amazing is how the image when done.

I’ve been converting all my CDs to Apple Lossless audio files. To do this, I’ve been usi

I’ve been converting all my CDs to Apple Lossless audio files. To do this, I’ve been using EAC and iTunes encode, which have been working wonderfully good up to now.

At first, EAC was a bit daunting and somewhat difficult to use, but after a few days of experimenting with it, trying out different settings, different rips, reading some online guides and forums, I think I’ve found the “sweet spot” that works for me. The only thing I wish it was able to do is: include a field for “Album Artist”, another field for Disc Number, and finally, Album Art. But then again, nothing is perfect, and I value more the quality, accuracy and control of my rips instead of these minor details which I can control later.
I started using EAC to rip directly to WAV, since there was no built-in Apple Lossless audio codec, and I really wanted to use this to be compatible with iTunes, iPhone, and my future Apple TV (if I ever get one).

After reading some blogs online, I was glad to have found iTunesEncode. This little program allows the conversion of WAV to Apple Lossless audio files using EAC + iTunes. The combination really did it for me, and now that I look back, I have NO IDEA how long (much longer than I would have desired) it would have taken me to convert those WAV files to Apple Lossless using iTunes, then adding the tags manually.

In a nutshell, the way it works is this: Configure EAC to your desired and recommended settings by many online guides and forums, use iTunesEncode as the “External Compressor”, add the iTunesEncode options (switches), and voila. After a few minutes (depends on rip quality, disc condition, etc), you’ll have a perfectly ripped copy of your CD in Apple Lossless format! All it takes from here is adding the newly-ripped media to iTunes, getting the Album Art from the iTunes Store or anywhere else on the web, adding a disc number, album artist and DONE! The CD went from physical form to a perfectly ripped audio file, fully tagged and in my iTunes library.

I could have easily taken the CD out of its case, popped it in my computer’s CD-ROM drive, fired up iTunes and encoded away to get the “same results”, but instead, I chose the approach mentioned here. I quote the phrase same results because in the end, I’d end up having Apple Lossless audio files, but no way of really knowing (other than listening to each individual track) of its rip quality. Some CDs, no matter how much you take care of them – will develop surface scratches, or if you buy some of them used like me, although they are in “like new” or “very good” conditions, sometimes they may still have a few scratch or two, which may or may not affect playability. This happened to me when I originally ripped my CDs with iTunes a few years ago in 128 kbps; some songs had skips, some obvious, others not so – but it was, indeed, a flawed rip.

I use iTunes to store all my music, and rarely (if EVER) use the original CD after I’ve transferred it to my computer, but I still must have the physical copy somewhere. As I read in a blog somewhere – the physical copy is like my “license”, my “backup”, my “rights” to the music, plus I have access to liner notes (not that I ever read them more than once…)

In the near future, I will post the EAC guide that I’ve been using, as well as other details regarding this project.

Well, thanks to a certain bigwig, I got off of my duff to make a mix CD for his round robin dealio. No major theme this time like prior mixes… the only rule I placed before myself was that everything is current (i.e.- released in 2009).

{If you aren’t part of the round robin and want a CD, contact me. If you’re local, even better. I’ll get ‘em out around Thanksgiving.}

The following songs were put on the mix CD from lossless sources for promotional purposes only (read: free direct market advertising to people who decidedly love music). Most of the artists on this compilation are independent (put out the music themselves) or signed to smaller, independent labels. If you like what you hear, check out their music / support them with your wallet if you are able. The artists’ Webpage, MyFace & Spacebook (whether official or not), and Amazon links are available for each song below. I’ve also included concert review links if I’ve seen the artist recently.

PDF front liner is available HERE (designed to print double-sided).

Well, the person who got this round robin going (Brad) was a direct influence in me getting into Nellie McKay back when Get Away From Me came out. I’ve been a fan ever since. I think GAFM is my favorite of hers, but she’s still quite consistently entertaining to me. Her latest album is a tribute to the late great Doris Day. It’s missing some of Nellie’s sly wit, but is definitely fitting in her “I wish I was born in another era” wishes. The album art is 135% fitting for Nellie, too. Perfect choice!
I was planning on going to Eugene Celebration anyway, but I got a call from a friend who suggested that we meet and definitely go to see Extra Golden. Um, OK, sure. Then I saw them, and wow… fuuuuun. I love African music, but sometimes it’s gets all too similar unless you do something fun (a la Fela Kuti, Antibalas, etc). Well, Extra Golden are half Kenyan and half American (which I guess is the “something fun” part? I don’t know). They fuse some great jam-rock with Kenyan beats* and singing… great stuff. Fantastic live show, too. *-Though, coincidentally, not so much Kenyan beats on this track. Yeah, sorry.
I am usually not a fan of vocal jazz… it’s usually too full of schlock, if you ask me. Well, Madeleine’s smoky voice overrides that generalism for me. She’s a fantastic vocalist, a throwback to the golden era of jazz vocalists. This album is her first of non-covers. All original, either written solo or co-written, Bare Bones moves her from a “fantastic standards” singer to bringing vocal jazz back into fresh territory.
The best progressive rock band around, Porcupine Tree’s The Incident is a 55-minute epic concept album/song. “Flicker” is actually a session b-side from the 2nd disc from the collection. I got a chance to see Porcupine Tree this September, and Steven Wilson & Co delivered the impeccable studio sound to the stage. It’s almost magic.
(formerly know as the Office of Strategic Influence). O.S.I. is a joint collaboration of Chroma Key’s Kevin Moore and Fates Warning’s Jim Matheos. Most of Blood is heavier progressive rock, but I tend to like the more Chroma Key-esque tracks like “Terminal.” The album has guests Gavin Harrison (of Porcupine Tree) on drums, Mikael Åkerfeldt (of Opeth) on vocals for one track, and Tim Bowness (or No-Man) on vocals for one track as well. The 2nd disc also features a Kevin Moore-sung, rockin’ tribute to Elliott Smith (“Christian Brothers”).
Alhambra Love Songs is a set of 11 songs that are an eclectic homage to San Francisco Bay area musicians. This particular song is dedicated to Mike Patton (and, no, that’s not why I picked it). The album is played by pianist Rob Burger, bassist Greg Cohen, and drummer Ben Perowsky – and also falls into the “more accessible” John Zorn camp.
Ikue Mori is an interesting instrumentalist. She mostly utilizes a laptop, and I saw her play live with Ellery Eskelin & Jim Black in NYC in 2007 and was wowed by the improvisational nature of her craft. Most of her albums are more avant-garde. She has one album that I’d consider to be much more accessible (1995’s Painted Desert on Japan’s DIY/Avant label). Class Insecta is also more accessible than most of her work. I suppose if you like well composed, electronic music dedicated to insect species, it’s for you!
Stockholm Syndrome is an album that I’m bummed I didn’t get fit on the CD version of this compilation. It’s going to place fairly well in my year-end “Best of 2009″ list. I think it’s the best thing Derek’s ever done, including Caedmon’s Call and prior solo work. It has a great overall vibe, and a message that I can agree with, even though I don’t agree with his religious philosophy. This song, while not the best on the album (IMO), has a great lyric and pro-gay marriage position and was actually banned by his independent Christian label (INO Records). He subsequently released an “uncensored” version of the album, and now has the song available for free on his site.

If you’re an audiophile, and I am, you need a good CD to MP3 Ripper as much as you need a great amplifier or speakers. Maybe more… You see, if you don’t get a perfect lossless quality rip from your CD’s, you are just listening to digital junk. And maybe you aren’t needing quite the lossless rip I require (meaning you would sacrifice some audio clarity for lots of file size reduction), but you still don’t want to hand your CD ripping job to any software other than a pro… And that is what FreeRIP CD to MP3 Converter is the granddaddy of doing.

FreeRip has been around for over a decade. Every six months or so it gets its regular update and gets better like clockwork each time. It is one of the most downloaded applications of all time – and it does one thing very well: It will rip your CD’s into most any digital format you like (MP3, WAV, WMA, Ogg Vorbis or Flac). As of this writing, I have over 44,000 songs on nearly 3 terabytes of hard drive space and I don’t download my music – it is all purchased so that I get a perfect recording. And iTunes doesn’t rip my cd’s into a FLAC format (which you kind of need) – so my digitally inspired world is heavily dependent on FreeRip’s simple masterpiece. It’s easy, powerful and I love it almost as much as my Brick (which delivers those sweet digital sounds into a my McIntosh amp… (I just turned up the volume…)

Now for something different. Apparently this was given as a gift to those who bought the first copies of Scarlet Weather Rhapsody from toranoana. This is a 2 track CD with what I think are some of the best touhou arranges I’ve ever listened to. It’s also the last CD I got from Godspeed… fucking Godspeed… Vorbis and FLAC versions for this one because you want them. And no, I won’t start uploading lossless versions of everything, just of very few, very good and very small CDs.

CD (Vorbis)

Track list:
01 Godspeed – Wild Moon
02 Godspeed – Rage

On another note, I also added a lossless version for EASTERN CROSS’s 2 track CD. You may notice a very small difference between the tags of the FLAC and Vorbis versions. I make undocumented changes to the tags with some frequency, so some of the things I have uploaded are outdated already, but I will only reupload them in case I absolutely need to. If I ever batch my releases, however, they will have been already archived and with the latest tag schemes.

Till date 9 versions have came of the so called Apple Audio Player, “iTunes”, and not a

Till date 9 versions have came of the so called Apple Audio Player, “iTunes”, and not a single version has supported any other formats than its own, except MP3 and WAV, but they have thein own reasons for this.

MP3: When iTunes launched it was not well-known, well-followed and well appreciated, but Apple forced Users to use it because of it was the only Aplication to support iPod. But still, before the iPod launch MP3 was successful to create its mark on Portable Music Listeners and if Apple was unable to add support for this format, people would have founded it useless, and full of crap. That was a nice game Apple Played giving support for Mp3.

WAV: Support for this format was added just because it was and it is the most basic format, without any Audio Compression, and it was developed by Apple, and the last reason would be Apple was well-known of the fact that giving support for this format wouldn’t cost any loss to it.

Apple is not adding support of any other Audio Codec just beacause Steve Jobs thinks that their formats AAC, AAC Plus and Apple Lossless will loose market shares, users, appreciators, reputation. Not giving support to any other lossless format is considerable as they know their machine better than anyone else, and they have made something that their machine completely supports in any condition and gives the best playback and performance. Adding support for any other lossless(not lossy), format would cost them more labour and surely then come more issues. So, Apple is keeping it simple and powerful.

But still Apple supports or not supports(i dun know wat to say?!?) WMA Lossless and WMA’s. Whenever a user tries to add a WMA to iTunes, it automatically converts it to its own predefined formats. An example of healthy competition with Microsoft. But when it comes to other Lossless audio Codecs, Apple seems to back off, clearly showing that Apple just considers Microsoft as a competition and everything else just junk. Whenever you try to add something to Apple iTunes which is not WMA or M4A, the result is that, the file is not added and the most interesting part is iTunes doesn’t show an error message or File is not Compatible message, like the application doesn’t cares about anything else than M4A.

Atleast Apple could’ve treated other audio files as it treats WMA Lossless, and it would’ve gained more appreciators, users, market share. It would’ve been a more healthy competition with other formats, giving them some respect, which they are really worth of and it would be more easy for users to migrate from one format to the other.

Maybe Apple will do something like this in the future, till then we’ll love to keep our tounges sticked to other classy formats.

Vamos por partes:

1º Requisitos

3ºVALIDAD LA INVITACIÓN Y REGISTARSE EN EL TRACKER

¿Siempre has querido entrar a un tracker privado?

foro: http://hdteam.es
tracker torrent: http://hdcity.es

Todays world is an on line world. Those on line seek to share their experiences with others via imag

Todays world is an on line world. Those on line seek to share their experiences with others via images and videos. But this would all not be possible if it wasn’t for the data compression techniques. The reasons for this compression arise from the fact that there are transmission bandwidth limitations in place in order to give everyone fair access to the World Wide Web. Web administrators also look to cut as many costs as possible such as storage capacity in order to hold more for less.

So how do we compress data then? Well the aim is to obtain a more efficient representation of the image while preserving the essential information contained in the data. This is done by using clever information about how we perceive our environment. In images, not all the information is needed to represent it on a computer screen. This is due to the fact that the human eye is less sensitive to fine color detail than it is to fine brightness details due to the densities of receptors in the eye. The human eye is also good at seeing small differences in brightness over large areas but not exact strengths of high frequency brightness variations. This all simply means that the eye does not see all the colors in the environment and is also more sensitive to different brightness variations. Therefore by removing duplicate and redundant information, we can compress an image or video. However audio is a little more difficult due to the fact that our ears have a far more dynamic range of sounds than the eye has to pictures.

There are two main types of compression being Lossless and Lossy. Lossless compression retains more data at the expensive to lower compression. It also offers the advantage that the image can be encoded/decoded without loss of information. Lossy on the other hand provides higher compression ratios though poorer image quality. Despite the loss of information, the lossy algorithms can encode and decode images without any “visual” difference (for the human eye) from the original image.

To compress data, there are 5 main algorithms that exist. These being Run Length Encoding, Chain Coding, Vector Quantization, Arithmetic Coding, Predictive Coding. I shall not go into how each of these work, but if any of you need an explanation, leave a comment and ill be happy to explain it to you.
In terms of compression, the choice of algorithm depends on 3 factors: compression efficiency, compression complexity and the distortion.

Image Compression
A picture is worth a thousand words. But without compression techniques, how would we display the trillions of images on the WWW today.
JPEG (Joint Photographic Expert Group) is the most popular image compression technique designed for gray scale and full color images of natural world scenes due to the fact more data can be removed and can be either simple or progressive for web pages. JPEG uses a lossy compression technique to exploit the known limitations of the human eye as mentioned above. It allows a trade-off between quality and size. The main disadvantage of this algorithm is the fact that repeated compression and decompression results in increased degradation. Gray scale images compress less than that of color images as the human is more sensitive to the brightness variations than to hue variations. Compression ratios of up to 20 to 1 are possible. The algorithm proceeds as follows:

Translate the image into a suitable color

Group the pixel values into 8×8 blocks (experiment prove thats the best section size)

Apply a Discrete Cosine Transformation (DCT) – I assume you know what that is, if not drop me a comment

Divide each block by a separate quantization coefficient based on luminance and round the result to the nearest integer

Next to more encoding using either Huffman or arithmetic coding.

Output the image

Video Compression
MPEG (Moving Pictures Expert Group) is one of the best compression techniques for videos and draws its inspiration from JPEG. It is used to represent video and audio signals exploiting more perceptual redundancies and allows for up to 30 to 1 compression ratios however audio is less due to the fact explained above. The algorithm basically predicts the motion from frame to frame in the temporal direction, and then uses discrete cosine transforms to organize the redundancy in the spatial directions.

Convert the image to YUV space

Apply the discrete cosine transforms (DCTs) to 8×8 blocks and use the luminance channel to predict the motion

Quantize the DCT coefficients

Encode the DCT coefficients + parameters using Huffman/arithmetic coding

There are many other compression techniques out there but I prefer to narrow it down to the mainstream techniques. For any other questions or more information related to this topic, please do not hesitate to drop us a comment.
