Questa mattina abbiamo simbolicamente presidiato la fontana di piazza del Nettuno per protestare contro l’approvazione del decreto legge 135/09 che di fatto consegna un bene comune come l’acqua agli interessi del profitto privato.

In queste settimane saremo nuovamente in piazza per raccogliere le firme per chiedere al Presidente Giorgio Napolitano di non firmare il decreto e, appena la legge diventerà definitiva, ci impegneremo per la raccolta delle firme necessarie ad indire un referendum abrogativo.

Ecco il volantino distribuito.

Ma anche le Filippine e la Corea… Non ho nient’altro da aggiungere se non che mi s’è gelato il sangue…

Cina e barbarie: lotte tra equini

Cavalli combattono incitati dalla folla

Dopo i tori impegnati nelle corride, i cani opportunamente inferociti per dare spettacolo e i galli in lotta per la sopravvivenza, tocca ai cavalli divertire pubblici poco raffinati. La moda, esplosa in Cina dove è legale, ha subito preso piede sia nelle Filippine sia in Corea. L’animale sconfitto viene macellato sul campo di battaglia e la sua carne viene offerta ai presenti che ne fanno sfoggio come un gadget.

L’uomo riesce a fare in modo che animali erbivori di norma miti, si trasformino in lottatori spietati e assassini . Così due cavalli vengono frustati, picchiati con violenza e molestati con rumori assordanti, oltre a quelli delle urla provocate dalla folla entusiasta, qualche attimo prima che l’incontro abbia inizio. Una volta aperte le ostilità gli stalloni, legati con corde che impediscono la fuga, si scontrano con rabbia, non risparmiando calci e morsi. Di norma vengono scelti campi di battaglia fangosi, perché il pubblico va in visibilio quando uno degli animali perde l’equilibrio, permettendo così al suo rivale di scagliarsi con particolare ferocia su di lui.

Per rendere ancora più determinati i due stalloni, nelle immediate vicinanze c’è una cavalla in calore imbottita di ormoni, in modo che gli contendenti in lotta sentano la sua presenza. Ai due animali tocca però un triste destino: il perdente viene ucciso immediatamente mentre il vincitore muore poco dopo a causa delle ferite riportate durante il combattimento.

I cinesi vanno pazzi per questi spettacoli, frequentati da famiglie intere con tanto di figli al seguito, tutti emozionati e agitati per la “bellezza” dell’evento. Il giro di scommesse, anche esse legali, sta cominciando a lievitare, ad ulteriore dimostrazione che il fenomeno è in costante crescita.

In alcune zone della Cina, in particolare nella contea di Rongshui Miao, la lotta tra cavalli fa parte dei festeggiamenti in onore del nuovo anno. Per quanto brutale, non ha nulla a che vedere con un efferato e tragico gioco mortale.

Sim, é galhofa pura. Matadores de Vampiras Lésbicas (Lesbian Vampire Killers) vem com vários clichês do cinema trash, desde a tipografia da abertura, passando pelos adolescentes de dezoito anos que são interpretados por atores de trinta até as diversas piadas sexuais do gênero.

A história é simples, um cavaleiro das cruzadas teve o amor da sua vida roubado por Carmilla (Silvia Colloca), a rainha das vampiras lésbicas. Revoltado, o cavaleiro McLaren forja uma espada mágica para acabar com a vampira lésbica, mas antes de ter sua cabeça decapitada, Carmilla invoca uma maldição na linhagem de McLaren e sobre a cidade, que teria todas as suas mulheres, a partir dos dezoito anos, transformadas em vampiras lésbicas. Jimmy (Mathew Horne) é o último da linhagem de McLaren que por manobra do destino, vai passar as férias na tal cidade amaldiçoada e a história se desenrola.

Mesmo com tantos clichês, Matadores consegue se sobressair e ficar bem interessante. Grande contribuição do carisma dos atores, principalmente Fletch (James Corden), o gordinho que só faz gordice e que não está nem aí para derrotar as vampiras e que faz algumas citações nerds. Além de ter uma nerd gostosa, Lotte (MyAnna Buring).

O diretor Phil Claydon, que tem apenas três trabalhos atualmente, deve tomar cuidado com os recursos utilizados como slow motion seguido de fast, que é usado irritantemente em demasia. Ponto positivo para as sutilezas para quem tem o ouvido apurado, como músicas que completam as cenas, ou pequenos efeitos sonoros, que enriquecem o filme. Temos que citar Friday The 13th, seriado dos anos 90 que serviu de inspiração para Supernatural. O filme tem todo o clima do seriado e fica bem colocado na tela grande da sala escura. Matadores me fez lembrar Grindhouse e creio que esse era o objetivo. E claro, um final digno de Van Helsing. Ok, não vou soltar spoiler! Agora nos resta ficar de olho na continuação, Gay Werewolf Killers.

Gli squadristi non sono più quelli di una volta, ma svolgono la stessa funzione: cercare di intimidire i lavoratori in lotta a nome dei padroni. Il padrone, in questo caso, è Samuele Landi, ex amministratore delegato dell’ex Eutelia. Gli squadristi sono dei “vigilantes” e delle “guardie del corpo” – addetti ai servizi di portierato, si minimizza dopo. I lavoratori sono quelli dell’ex Eutelia di Roma, che presidiano la loro azienda, dopo tre mesi senza stipendio, e in attesa del licenziamento – così come fanno i loro colleghi di Ivrea, Pregnana Milanese, Torino, Napoli. Le armi del blitz, piedi di porco e grosse torce impugnate come manganelli. L’irruzione è avvenuta alle 5.20 di martedì 10 novembre. “Carabinieri! Fuori tutti!” hanno gridato alla ventina di occupanti insonnoliti nelle loro brandine. Quello che non sapevano di trovare era una troupe di Rai Educational, che si era fermata nella notte per girare un servzio, e che li ha filmati e ha chiamato le forze dell’ordine – quelle vere.

L’azienda ha detto che la lotta dei lavoratori ha creato “una situazione che non ha nulla a che vedere con una pacifica occupazione”. Infatti. Lo ha dichiarato anche Ferrero, segretario del PRC: questo intervento non ha nulla di pacifico, anzi, ci riporta dritti agli anni Venti. “E’ la prima volta dai tempi del fascismo che una squadraccia va a sgombrare una fabbrica in lotta“. E Samuele Landi, il capo-squadraccia, ama farsi fotografare in veste da parà e con il pugnale fra i denti.

Allora, per rimanere in clima da anni Venti e fargli capire che è meglio che stiano calmini, proponiamo loro – agli aspiranti squadristi di oggi – una bella foto della Fiat occupata dai suoi operai, ai tempi in cui l’avevano presa in mano e difesa, nel Biennio Rosso.

After a pretty full day of wandering around and watching Sumo, I made my way to Chiba Marine Stadium to watch the Chiba Lotte Marines.  Lotte is a major conglomerate in the Far East, involved with food products, department stores, amusement parks, hotels and others.

The Marines are an interesting team because they are the only team I’ve ever seen where the fans celebrate the manager more than any of the players.  The top selling jersey in the team store is that of Bobby Valentine, the manager of the team.  Bobby Valentine is a former player in Major League Baseball, but he was most known in the US as the manager of the Texas Rangers and the New York Mets (probably more known for managing the Mets).  I have always liked Bobby- I thought that he was their best manager since Davey Johnson (and they have not had a good manager since.  While some managers may be better strategists, I think Bobby was better able to manage the personalities involved in a high priced team like the Mets.  As popular as he was in New York, it’s nothing compared to how popular Bobby Valentine is in Japan, specifically in Chiba.  Fans wear his jersey and the cheering sections carry large banners with this face on them.  Unfortunately, this was Bobby’s last season in Japan (at least for now)- while popular with fans, he was not terribly popular with front office management and was very outspoken on a number of issues, including the loss of the best Japanese players to the major leagues.  Maybe he can go back to managing the Mets.

Chiba Marine Stadium reminds me of the stadiums built in the 60s and 70s, like Riverfront Stadium or Three Rivers Stadium.

Our seats were on the Lions side of the field, so as one of the only people in the area rooting for the Marines, I felt quite alone.  The good thing, though, is that the Marines won 6-3, so I had a lot more to cheer about than those Lions fans…

In addition to Bobby Valentine, another former Met is on the Marines, and got the start in Left Field- Benny Agbayani.  Benny Agbayani is pretty popular in my family.  Back in 1999 or 2001, I saw him hit a home run in a Wild Card game against the Giants.  It was awesome.  He doesn’t play every day, so seeing him start the game was cool.  I loudly cheered for him (he was the only player I knew) and got a few looks and laughs from the other Marines fans in the vicinity.  I also got a picture of him when he was batting.  He went 1-3 with a walk and was replaced towards the end of the game with a pinch hitter.

Questa mattina la Fgci, insieme ai Giovani Comunisti, ha manifestato a fianco dei lavoratori Phonemedia ed Agile-Eutelia delle sedi bolognesi che chiedono da mesi il pagamento degli stipendi arretrati e risposte certe sul proprio futuro.

Entrambe le aziende sono state acquistate dal gruppo “Omega” che, nonostante le richieste, si rifiuta di presentare un piano industriale e fornire certezze ai lavoratori in lotta.

Come se non bastasse alla sede Eutelia-Tiburtino di Roma si è verificato un atto di aggressione (guarda video) con modalità squadriste nei confronti dei lavoratori. Ancora più grave è il fatto che il gruppo degli squadristi a pagamento fosse guidato dall’ex amministratore delegato dell’azienda Samuele Landi.

La Fgci, a Bologna come nelle altre città italiane, sarà al fianco dei lavoratori in lotta che chiedono lavoro e dignità.

My sister and I are like day and night. We don’t try to be opposite of each other. We just are. But one of the things we agree upon? The men and women who serve in the military are heroes. Law enforcement (even though they give me speeding tickets. ^^) and firefighters are also heroes in our eyes.

Granted, both my grandfathers didn’t fight in for the US because they were fighting in China, but they’re heroes to me. They fought for what they thought was right and did what they also thought was right for their family. They raised us to be who we are today with the values we treasure.

One of the things my grandpas taught me was the value of friendships and how you have to watch over them carefully and treat them with care and respect. I have four friends who have served and are serving right now. I’d like to tell you a little about them.

FiLLup is the first one. We went to college together. In fact, he was the first friend I made when I moved back to Los Angeles. I remember getting all my imaginary balls together and asked him if he knew where the library was in our neighborhood. Hey, I’m shy and that took a lot for me to approach someone I didn’t know. He helped me get my first library card in 10 years and we became friends. We met in English class and we ended up taking some computer science classes. He always helped me with my homework….like when I couldn’t be bothered to do it and I’d call him in a panic because it was due that day.

He introduced me to games like CounterStrike (I only got one headshot because I couldn’t get the hang of using the keyboard and mouse to shoot. Dude, just give me a gun, okay? Thanks) and Diablo II. I introduced him to totally girly games like QuizQuiz and ended up becoming his favorite bartender.

I remember the day he told me and some other friends he was enlisting in the Marines. I was completely floored.

When he was off serving, I had told him that I was going to send him snacks before he came back home. I ended up raiding the Asian supermarkets for all the snacks I could load up into a shopping cart. Lotte ChocoPies, delicious dried cuttlefish, various fruit gummies…I couldn’t remember what else I had gotten him. My package made it out to him a few weeks before he came home. I’m happy to say he shared….I think.

Frippy is my second friend. He’s still serving. We’ve been friends for over 5 years. He’s one of the craziest friends I know. I think it’s also because he’s a Scorpio. Not that I’m crazy or anything. He never hesitates to give me his advice and he’s always there to pick me up when I sit down too long. Actually, “pick up” isn’t really accurate. “Haul me up” is more like it.

I was covering San Diego Comic Con 2009 when I get a request from him. Turns out he LOOOOVES Olivia Munn of G4 fame. He said he would be so happy if I could get a photo of her and I together. I didn’t even have to think about it. I said “yes” immediately despite not having any clue how the hell I was going to make this happen.

When there’s a will, there’s a way and I found it. Turns out there was a meet and greet thing at the autograph section. I made my way there 3 hours before the event was to start and was confronted by the craziest line I had ever seen. I didn’t care because it gave me time to transcribe all the interviews I had done that day. 3 hours flash by and it turns out I was the last person they were going to allow to meet Ms. Olivia Munn.

w00t!!! …and then they asked me for a ticket. Wait…what?!! Turns out I had to sit my ass in line IN THE MORNING in order to get a ticket so that I could stand in the line I was in right then for the CHANCE to see her. Wtf…..so I didn’t get to meet her but that’s okay because I’m a Ninja.Fu master. I hopped my kimono wearing ass all around the perimeter of the stand and snapped a few with my Blackberry. I sent them to him and didn’t post it to YouBentMyWookie.

SushiMan and Nemo are my last two friends. They’re friends from the military. These two are some of the nicest guys I know. Not only are they great to party with (like the time I had to drive SushiMan home on Valentine’s Day. Good thing I know how to drive a manual transmission car even though the clutch was completely burned out) but they also look out for me. They tell me whether or not they think the guy I’m dating is good for me and they won’t sugar coat anything. They tell it to me straight and to my face.

Sure, they tease me sometimes about my love life (or lack thereof) and they think it’s hilarious when I tell them about what my date was like. They’re upfront and honest as to what I deserve and what I’m worth. They dirty dance on in the clubs on my birthday even though they worked all day and sing Bon Jovi’s “Always” with me every time we hit the karaoke bars.

These guys aren’t just a hero in my eyes. They’re some of the most fantastic friends I’m blessed to have.

UncleKJ, thank you for serving too. And to that crazy Korean guy I used to date waaay back in the day….Y, you were one of the craziest guys I know. I still remember that tattoo you had on your shoulder. I hope you’re well wherever you are…I’m sorry we never got to go to that dinner you promised to take me to. Thank you for everything you’ve done for me. I’ve never forgotten.

Thank you, you guys, for all that you’ve done and do to keep us safe….especially my glow-in-the-dark ass. Thank you. You guys are all true heroes.

Mida lähemale Kristella sünnipäev hakkas jõudma, seda sagedamini meenutas ta seda sünnipäeva, kui issi tegi ta nukule voodi ja mina kudusin-õmblesin õueriided ja voodiriided. Vahepeal on olnud üsna mitu sünnipäeva ja ka need püüdsime lapsele meeldejäävaks teha ning see õige sära oli lapse silmis täitsa olemas, kui ta sai poest ise valida kingi, mis talle sel hetkel kõikse rohkem meeldis. Aga ometi… no ei ole need vahepealsed sünnipäevad talle oma kinkidega nii meelde jäänud, kui tollane. Seega viimane kord, kui laps õhinaga rääkis, milline võiks olla tema unistuste sünnipäev, lubasin talle ka sel aastal väikese isetehtud üllatuse.

See mõte on mul tegelikult peas mõlkunud juba pikemat aega. Aeg-ajalt lihtsalt olen tabanud lapse rääkimas, et talle tegelikult Lotte hirmsasti meeldib, aga no kaisukat ju pole mõtet nüüdseks juba 10-aastasele neiule teha/kinkida. Seega siis mõlkus meeles ära proovida Isetegija õpitoas olev õpetus ja heegeldada iirisniidist kutsa, mida saaks võtmehoidjana kasutada. Teostuse aeg oligi nüüd käes.

Ei saa öelda, et ma päris nautisin selle tegemist aga põnev oli tulemust oodata ja no muidugi lapse vaimustus asjast silus kõik konarused, millega lõpptulemuse juures rahul polnud. Selline ta siis sai:

9 Novembre 1989. Qualcuno tra noi ha ricordi vaghi di questo giorno e di ciò che accadde a Berlino; alcuni non erano neanche nati. Ci spiegarono poi negli anni successivi, in famiglia, a scuola, che quello era stato un giorno straordinario; il giorno nel quale un intero continente aveva riscoperto la sua unità dopo anni di umiliante e crudele divisione.

Fu un giorno speciale perché  segnò la fine di un periodo buio come quello della guerra fredda, buio soprattutto per un paese come il nostro, che lo visse in modo traumatico e lacerante, spesso pagando conflitti nati a migliaia di chilometri di distanza tra le due grandi potenze mondiali.

Il Giorno della Libertà  che l’Europa si appresta a celebrare è per questo una ricorrenza importantissima e fondamentale , da rispettare nel modo più assoluto.

Il comunismo sovietico si macchiò di innumerevoli crimini, fino a degenerare in una dittatura totalitaria e liberticida, in Russia come in molti altri paesi.

Facendo questo, tradì  gli ideali di emancipazione , di uguaglianza, di libertà per cui era nato, gli stessi ideali per cui gli studenti di Praga si batterono per un “socialismo dal volto umano”…gli stessi ideali che da sempre sono la stella polare di chi fa politica dalla parte dei più deboli.

La libertà per cui Jan Palach sacrificò la sua vita è un valore indiscutibile, senza cui non c’è giustizia…ripeterlo e ricordarlo è un dovere che spetta a noi giovani per primi.

Come giovani e come democratici abbiamo l’impegno a guardare il mondo con occhi nuovi, lontani dalle passate ideologie, ma non per questo  pronti a scordare le grandi lotte di coloro che ci hanno preceduto, né ovviamente gli errori compiuti.

Sarebbe bello che l’impegno a lottare contro il totalitarismo e la dittatura, a ricordare gli errori passati per non ripeterli , fosse mantenuto in tutte le occasioni in cui la Libertà è celebrata, non solo in quelle che per motivi politici ad alcuni fa più comodo sostenere. Sarebbe poi perfetto

evitare di scadere nella retorica politica, molto utile per fini strumentali ma poco adatta ad una vera riflessione storica.

Anche a Bologna, come in molte altre città d’Italia, la Fgci si sta battendo contro la privatizzazione dell’acqua, approvata dal Senato il 04 Novembre (Art.15 del DL 135/09).

Una decisione che sottrae ai cittadini l’acqua potabile di rubinetto, il bene più prezioso, per consegnarlo, a partire dal 2011, agli interessi delle grandi multinazionali e farne un nuovo business per i privati e per le banche.

Questa mattina, in piazza del Nettuno, abbiamo affisso un cartello sulla fontanella per informare della scellerata decisione di affidare un bene primario alle logiche del profitto privato.

Nelle prossime settimane saremo ancora impegnati in una campagna di informazione dal basso su un tema così importante per la vita quotidiana delle persone ma che, stranamente, non viene trattato con la giusta attenzione da parte degli organi di stampa.

Dagens grej är en grej. Det kan vara vilken grej som helst.
Idag är det något helt onödigt som jag hittade i kökslådan.

Det handlar om Kaffetuggummi.

Det går inte riktigt ihop. Oftast brukar man ju ta ett tuggummi efter att man druckit sitt kaffe för att komma undan den beryktade kaffeandedräkten. Men nej nej, inte alla.

Självklart finns det ett logiskt svar på frågan; varför existerar kaffetuggummi?
Svar: Japan.

De flesta är ju bekanta med att japaner är tokiga. Helt fantastiska, men tokiga. JAG blir i alla fall sjukt sugen på kaffetuggummi efter att ha sett den här reklamen! Jag skojar inte, sjukt sugen.
