Is this the best £50 you could spend in Sheffield?

At the Tramlines festival I saw a stall selling a book of Charity unleashed vouchers but was a bit sceptical. I’ve since seen a bit of online and press coverage about the book, but it is only since speaking to friends that I’ve realised just what a good deal it is.

Full details are on the website, but the basic premise is that you buy a book of vouchers for £50 that are valid for various shops, restaurants, bars and places in and around Sheffield.

You’d be mistaken for thinking that these vouchers are the kind of free vouchers that regularly crop up online. The Sheffield Charity unleashed vouchers are redeemable for loads of free stuff, with a value totalling £1,052. Here are some of the deals that you are entitled to:

• three separate nights in hotels including Losehill house and the Cutlers
• a spa and hair package at Spa 1877
• food and drinks at the Leopold hotel, Cubana, Sakushi, Aroma, Lounge bar, 23, the Aston hotel, the Olive bar, Bar 360, Dosanj and the Milestone
• family tickets for the Steelers, Eagles, Magna and skiing
• a bungee jump, dive session and photography course

There is no catch – although there are some minor restrictions on when you can use some vouchers: for example, one of the hotels is weekends only and another is midweek only. Plus, some offers can’t be used in the same visit and some are proving so popular that you need to book ahead. Most of the vouchers expire on 31 August 2010.

But generally it looks like a great deal, which can pay for itself after you have used just one of the vouchers.

And the best thing is that Weston park charity gets £15 for every book sold, with the remainder going to the businesses involved and to cover costs. A donation of £21,780 has just been made to Weston park charity.

I wouldn’t usually use this blog for obvious promotion of one particular enterprise, and I have no connection with Charity unleashed, but this does seem to be a good deal so have splashed out.

The electronic music scene in London is one of the best on offer in all the world’s capital cities. That’s why you so often see professional DJs such as Cirez D, Deadmau5, Carl Cox, Mauro Picotto etc. djing every weekend in the city’s many clubs. The clubbers movement is as varied as the music they play: electro house, techno, tech house, funky house, rave techno… catering to every taste. In the last few years areas such as Brick Lane and Shoreditch have been growing incredibly fast in terms of popularity; places which are characterised by small bars and clubs that make you feel like you’re in a familiar environment compared to the big bars and clubs managed by big global companies.

One of the latest London Bars to be opened is “Il Bacio Mare” – actually a Fish and Wine Bar offering a Cocktail Bar for private function and playing host to the best house music parties in the heart of Stoke Newington Church Street. The music is played by local DJs and once a month there’s an awesome night called “Funk you” offering the best international DJs available in London such as Misura from Christian, WWE and DeejayFriendly records along with Raimundo Baños from Spain: official member of the Misura prods team.

If you want to dance to the best electro house beats in the city, head over to Funk You @ Il Bacio Mare – 98-100 Stoke Newington Church Street on the 11th or 18th April, from 10pm to 3am.

Misura also will be presenting a new remix for TRL records, it is the Cristian Paduraru’s track “Renewal Change” @ The Russian on the 6th June from 11pm to 5am, there will be live percussion, vocal performers and off course the great performance of Raimundo Baños too!

se cercare parcheggio per una buona mezz’ora non ti spaventa, se abiti o lavori in zona, il B4 – BEFORE (via vannucci 13 – tel. 0258305632 – www.b4before.it) è da tener presente. cocktail discreti, servizio nella media, frequentato da una popolazione abbastanza fighetta, ma del resto tipica della zona porta romana. locale accogliente, particolari le pareti e volte in mattoni a vista ed il soppalco: unico difetto, non trascurabile, la difficoltà di ossigenazione nella parte soppalcata, un caldo tropicale abbastanza fastidioso, nonostante il locale non fosse affollato. la possibilità di esporre quadri, foto o sculture aggiunge un tocco di peculiarità al locale, consiglierei tuttavia un aggiornamento del sito, che nella sezione eventi ed esposizioni è fermo al 2007!

il critico dice che è meno brutto del suo nome, perchè tutti questi acronimi cside b4 2night sono veramente trash… se ti piace il genere
