Happy New Year fellow nail-enthusiasts (and those of you who view my blog purely out of obligation).

What a year 2012 was. Big changes in my life, namely packing up my entire life for the 2nd year in a row and moving across the pond to London. I can say, without a shred of doubt, it was the best thing I’ve ever done. And I’ve done some pretty good things.

2013 is shaping up to be an amazing year. And what better way to start the year than with some leopard print nails. After nursing a NYE hangover and post-holiday-in-Ireland exhaustion – not to mention getting-back -to-reality January blues – I didn’t feel like spending more than 30 mins on my nails, but as always with leopard print designs I am tremendously happy with them, and with the little addition to the design - the love heart – there’s a lot of love around at the moment and I feel like this could be the theme for the year.

I hope your New Years resolutions include saying no to chipped nail polish, and making sure you put aside a bit of time for yourself to treat your nails every once in a while.

Today I’m sharing 3 cards that I made with the single Love Heart stamp.  It matches the Full Heart Punch and looks great when you layer it with the new Hearts a Flutter Framelits Die.  This stamp is only available for sale from Stampin’ Up through tomorrow, Jan. 2, 2103, so make sure that you order yours before it’s gone!

I started with a card base of Rose Red cut to 4-1/4″ x 11″ and scored at 5-1/2″.  Then I cut a panel of Whisper White to 4″x 5-1/4″ and I used the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack heart template to pierce the outer heart design 3 times on the Whisper White Panel.  I adhered the panel to the card base with SNAIL.  Then I stamped the Love Heart image on Whisper White Card Stock in Regal Rose, Rose Red and Pretty In Pink ink.  I punched the three hearts out with my Full Heart Punch and I adhered them in the center of the pierced hearts using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  To finish the card, I placed a strip of 3 rhinestones on each heart.

The card on the left side uses the new Simply Scored Borders Scoring Plate and the new Hearts a Flutter Framelits die from the 2013 Spring Catalog.

I started with a Real Red card base cut to 3″ x 6″ and scored at 3″.  Then I cut a panel of Whisper White to 2-3/4″ x 2-3/4″ and I used the Borders Scoring Plate to create the two zig-zag lines and I adhered it to the card front with SNAIL.  Next, I stamped the Full Heart image on Whisper White Card Stock in Real Red Ink.  I punched out the heart using the Full Heart Punch.  Then I cut the scalloped heart from Red Glimmer Paper using the Hearts a Flutter Framelits die and I adhered it to the back of the heart punch with SNAIL.  To finish the card, I adhered the heart layers to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The card on the right uses a little Melon Mambo Stampin’ Emboss Powder.

I started with a Melon Mambo card base cut to 3″ x 6″ and scored at 3″.  Then I cut a panel of Whisper White to 2-1/2″ x 2-1/2″ and I used the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack heart template to create the pierced outer heart.  I adhered the panel to the card front using SNAIL.  Next, I stamped the Love Heart image on Whisper White Card Stock in VersaMark Ink, sprinkled it with Melon Mambo Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it.  I punched out the heart using the Full Heart Punch.  To finish the card, I adhered the heart to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

My latest creation is this love heart decoration. I hope to make quite a few of these and use them as part of my Christmas decorations. I have the idea of some kind of bunting design with the jute twine that I have bought. I have cut all the hearts out now just to put them together.

I am still sewing the blocks together for my Drunkards Path quilt as well but I find sewing the same thing over and over really boring so I have to do it in stages. Goodness only knows how long that will take me ha ha ha.
