You know those days…the one’s that go off the track and you spend all day trying to get

You know those days…the one’s that go off the track and you spend all day trying to get ‘it’ and you…back on the track? Going from inactivity to 45 mph winds, I was chasing the to do list that presented itself to me Saturday. That morning I made the wonderful, startling discovery of a perishing ‘creature’, at the bottom of my old-fashioned, long pantry. I must confess, praises and blessings did not flow from my lips. On the other side of pantry it looked like creature Armageddon had gone down. Glue trap versus a vermin, the vermin won that one. Apparently the pest decided to take a little stroll across my counter before scouting out the pantry. When did they start liking bananas?! Well, here I am ‘not’ an expert, at all, trying to bleach everything and move aside clutter, as well as attend to tenants. This was also the last weekend of the month when I can have several tenants frantically moving out, and this particular Saturday, trying to dodge the rain. Recently, falling asleep at night has been useless without melotonin and even then 6 hours can be my average.That’s how much I got the night before this crazy day. Put it all together, and it was a rough day and I was spent at the end of it.

Since ratatouille decided to also visit my office, (my office is attached to my apartment, I manage a facility) it was then decided for me…the gloves were coming off. The pest control folks had just come out the day before plugging up the obvious hole in the ceiling tile in the kitchen, the creature made it clear, that this was hardly stopping him. Online, I ordered a pest repellant that is a granular mix of wild animal urine. Its suppose to ‘scare’ the pests away and I’m certainly hoping it does. It cost more for the two day air delivery than it did for the product! But all you ladies know how this would feel…to be invaded by this nasty creature….in your home…and how even “quickly” may not even be ‘quick’ enough, but certainly now, hope was on the way. That was Saturday and by Wednesday tomorrow it’s actually been five days passed. There should be awards for this kind of tolerance and forebearance…maybe a new one, like, a “Temmy”… as in, an “Emmy”. The “T” stands for TOLERANCE…GREAT TOLERANCE AND FOREBEARANCE, enduring the shame and undeniable grossness, lol.

A male friend commented the other day that even fellas think the creatures are unpleasant. I was relieved to hear this… But I’m also very relieved to hear that my maintenance contractor prides himself in being able to dispose of them without a thought (or more importantly, a feeling) about it…GOD BLESS HIM! And actually, I think God HAS already blessed him…blessed him with a gifted ability to do that. It definitely passes on to me a blessing…because that’s one thing I just can’t bring myself to do. Just can’t….nope, no way…Jose.

This morning I ran to the grocery store to get a few things and had exactly 30 mins. to get it done. When I arrived at the store, I remembered I had ‘lost’ my debit card last Saturday. (Yep, it was that ‘rough’ day…) Man! here I was, didn’t have my checkbook and really needed what I came for…I then thought, “Let me look between the car seats…just in case…it fell down here…and VIOLA!” There it was! Extra trip was spared and I got what I needed. Then, when I got back to work, I realized I hadn’t put out the mail needing to go to my boss. My usual mailman comes the minute after we open, and it serves to be a challenge to remember to put the mail out before we open.

I had promised my boss this mail, and knew that being the second of the month, I would likely be tethered to the office unable to go to a mailbox. But then, even though it was ten after nine, here pulled up my jovial, friendly, alternate mailman to my rescue! Thank goodness! I even hugged the man! I thanked him profusely and in private, I thanked God for “manifesting” His love to me today. Two small things, but I felt like He was watching out for me.

“He who has my commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”

Would I have liked Him to ‘manifest’ His love Saturday by causing my pest problem to disappear? Don’t you know it! While unpleasant events happen and will as long as we continue to inhabit the earth, He is still manifesting Himself to those that love and honor Him, especially in the midst of suffering (even small sufferings) and the yucky messiness of life.

Wishing you, a blessed day today, and that His love will be manifested in your life in a real and tangible way. Happy Trails!

“Passive patience, to be sure, has its place; but consider patience rather from the precepts of God

“Passive patience, to be sure, has its place;

but consider patience rather from the precepts of God’s relationship to man:

love unbounded is patience.

Love manifested is patience.

Endurance at times is patience,

consistence ever is patience.” (Edgar Cayce, “Readings”)
