What made him My Other Half?

Well basically, he’s the one who mentioned that phrase to me first. I totally agreed to that statement after I got to analyze it. Wanna know why? Here it goes…

1. We both have chinky (chinese) eyes.

3. We both love animals particularly dogs.

4. We often think the same.

5. We share the same personalities.

6. We have the same problem in our gadget (laptop- does not have a genuine software)

² Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving; ³ meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains, ⁴ that I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.
⁵ Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. ⁶ Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.

Verse 3

That God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains, ⁴ that I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.

Verse 3

For the Word

We must see that Paul had a Goal,

• A purpose in mind for an open door.
• To proclaim the mystery of Christ “Salvation”

Paul had a Goal for The Open Door

That the door to be opened in the lives of unbelievers, that the Gospel message would be clear and powerful through the Door.

• Do you ever pray for people to have the opportunity to share salvation?
• To share the gospel with others.
• That it be clear?
• Do you pray for opportunities for yourself?

As a church, we’re looking for new opportunities to share the message about Jesus.

Verse 5

⁵ Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time.

“Outsiders” are people, who aren’t Christians,

• Who are out-side the kingdom of God.

Paul assumes that the Colossians are hanging out with them, and not avoiding them.

• And he’s calling us to be wise about our behavior because as followers of Jesus,
• We’re always on display.
• We’re always being watched.

The Open Door!!

Act 14:27

²⁷ Now when they had come and gathered the church together, they reported all that God had done with them, and that He had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles.

1 Cor 16: 8-9

⁸ But I will tarry in Ephesus until Pentecost. ⁹ For a great and effective door has opened to me, and there are many adversaries.

¹² Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christ’s gospel, and a door was opened to me by the Lord,

We need to understand that Paul was in prison when he wrote this letter.

And what does he ask for in Prayer?

Release from Prison? No

A favorable verdict at his coming trial? No

Paul wanted God to open a door for the message,

• not himself – WOW

The Message, the Gospel is what got him in Jail in the first place.

Paul wants the opportunity to talk to the Guards about Jesus in a way that they will understand.

Paul wants God to Tweak/intervene/Work in the circumstances.

• To soften their hearts, so they’ll listen to the Message..

Paul’s prayer was that they the Colossians would partner with him in ministry by prayer etc.
