I don’t know what I’ve been busy with these few days but most prolly its with ball ball and ball and ball with driving too. Driving is making me go ha ha he he ha ha ho. It’s a love hate thing, the amount of money you’ve spent on just purely circuit and to pay the instructor is enough to make you go TSKTSK! I can’t wait for my TP to come and to come out of CDC with a BIG SMILE please. =\

Recently I made Eillot to remember my name and to ask him “What’s my name?” every now and then in church. He’s such a cutie if only I’m his age. HAHAHA. Anyways he’s so enthusiastic in taking photos and he would look at the photo that I took. Cute cute!

Okay he’s damn cute, going to see him this sunday. HAHAHA.

Yes yes, I finally went to collect my FICS cert today which I realised that its 6 certs to collect. WOW. Haven’t take a look what’s really inside tho cause its raining today. I don’t know why but I love the rain because the weather is damn good to sleep. So I met JuneTan too. HEHEHE. It’s been a while since we catch up and it feels really good! (:

And I had a so called life-threatening experience please, like looking at someone shivering all over and you can only leave the prescription of medication to the doctor. Omg I really almost wanna faint because I don’t know what else can I do. I cannot imagine I told Zo to wait for me to finish eating my LJS. HAHA, I feel so bad after that.

JB trip today was great excluding the fact that we lost our way to Lavender MRT Station. TSK, we’re so dumb please. Anyways I think there’s always something that I learn every training or match. So I got quite a few learning tips for Jas as well, so continue to strive and I’m the only one playing competitive bball now. -.-

We constantly talk about how we miss school. Honestly, I don’t really miss university that much. I don’t miss the studying, I miss my really active lifestyle, which now I have gotten back. The thing about work is that you’ve got the extra money to well, do whatever it is you wanted to do. I don’t spend on food much, nor going out. I spend a not-so-small sum on clothes, and more or less the rest on my gym membership and rock climbing. I’m quite shy to admit I climb, because like I’ve said a million times, I’m really quite bad at it. But I do enjoy it, on days when I actually do climb and when I don’t feel that paiseh to climb in front of people because, once again, I think I suck quite badly at it.

Yup, I’ve been quite sucked into the single-hood lifestyle, where your expenses are from month to month, and day to day. I don’t have to worry about things like needing to save up for bigger things in life, like marriage, buying a house or settling down. Call me self-fish, but if all my friends were single with me to hang out, that’s the life I totally dig.

I finally get to buy the clothes I want, the shoes I want, rather than scrimping because of a $50 allowance a week when I was in school. When you stay in hall, that’s budgeting yourself for about $8 a day, that means $4 a meal, and I have to skip breakfast. Then $10 for the weekend, which I spend at home sleeping most of the time, or paddling down MacRitchie. Majority of my clothes I wore when I was in school was bought during the in between time of JC and Uni, and occasionally when I get a great part-time job. The only reason some people think it’s new is because back when I was working 3 jobs, I had this hard and fast rule that I wouldn’t wear anything more than 5 times. I never threw them out, so after years of not wearing they res-surfaced to look new.

This year has been quite a ride, like every other really. It was really a road of self discovery, I’m ever changing that way. I found out, I have to be surrounded by passion, art, beautiful things. Sadly, I’ve stopped taking much photos. I’ve gone back to basics, no more 8.3fps camera that weighs 1.2kg, now, it’s half the weight and a quarter of the continuous shutter. Maybe I’ll start taking better photos, find my niche, although I think I already know my niche is comedic sort of photos or with quirky tinge.

my net presence is a little (well, more than that, actually) unpredictable at the moment, and has been for the past few weeks; there’ve been all kinds of literal tooth-pulling, house-moving, and general end-of-year thread-tying going on and it’s exhausting and doesn’t leave much time for the prettier things in life.  i’ve barely time to do my washing, let alone scribble on my computer, or find things worth scribbling about; when i finally crash all i can manage is gossip girl (i’m rewatching 1-2; season 3 has thus far been such a disappointment…it makes me terribly sad) and the latest stieg larsson (which is about the only thing keeping me sane.  i may rant about the millennium trilogy at a later date.  and my distinct itch to become some sort of kick-ass hacker in homage to the infamous salander.  anyway).  gossip girl reminds me that there really are beautiful things out there, [ast this month of drudgery and my most raggedy box-hauling clothes, and larsson gives me faith that sometimes even activists get a break.

one of the few perks of spending days on end packing boxes is that nobody minds if you listen to very loud and boppy music; perky music makes for a perky attitude towards dull, dull chores.  or at least for a perky-er attitude than could be achived through other means.  and on that topic (terrible perky music) i have a dirty secret.  well, honestly i have a fair few, but this one is particularly filthy.  i have a shameful, shameful affection for katy perry, or at least for her music and 40s ladylike/50s pinup-esque look (or more accurately the eye of the stylist behind the scenes).  in my defense i have, at certain and mildly inebriated points, confessed this love, on two seperate occasions, to two different women who i hold in very high regard, and have been stunned and fuzzily warmed to discover that, in fact, they feel a similarly conflicted brand of adoration for this particular starlette.

mz perry’s music, to be quite frank, espouses sentiments that i despise.  i could break them down for you – say, the extremes of normative and binary gender described in one of the boys – but i’m pretty certain anybody could figure out that, from the point of feminist, queer, or in any way socially progressive theories, perry’s music is problematic to say the least (and let’s not even start on i kissed a girl).  and yet.  indupitably i have a weird but persistant softspot for pop; my musical taste is, i think, generally quite respectable.  i like tom waits and ricky lee jones, suzanne vega, angus and julia stone, stars, feist, florence + the machine, amanda palmer, handel, sigur ros – the smiths and the cure for lord’s sake!  but…i also have a very distressing tendency to listen to complete and utter rubbish.  it’s like eating fairy floss instead of real food: it’s not the least bit filling, and afterwards you may be left feeling slightly greasy and bodily aware that you’ve done something that’s not very good for you, but in the moment…well, it’s all about the singing and dancing about in the kitchen, you know?

Every gay person except Mario Lavandeira aka Perez Hilton who claims he is gay, and yet he lacks compassion for other gays who he publicly bashes into coming out.

Meredith Baxter, who starred on the successful television series “Family Ties” became Mario’s target on Tuesday of this week when he posted photos of Meredith with her girlfriend Nancy.

This is nothing new for Mario, he forced Neil Patrick Harris and Lance Bass to out themselves as well.

nd now Meredith was forced to publicly announced her sexuality because the rag-gossip media cannot be controlled, yet.

“I am a lesbian and it was a later-in-life recognition,” she told Matt Lauer on TODAY.  “Some people would say, well, you’re living a lie and, you know, the truth is – not at all.  This has only been for the past seven years.”

Meredith who is 62, was not ready to do this, and yet was forced because of the public tabloid chatter.   “I’ve always lived a very private life,” said the actress, who’s never even had a publicist.

“I did not want some tabloid to take the story and make it up — I wanted it to be in my own words,” she told Lauer.

Meredith has now had to explain her relationship with men, which says was complicated and took her decades to understand why.

In 1966 she married her first husband, Robert Lewis Bush, and they divorced five years later; she married her second husband David Birney in 1974, and they divorced in 1989; she married her third husband, Michael Blodgett, in 1995, and they divorced in 2000.

She explained that she deliberately chose to be with men with whom she clashed, so that she could blame them for the end of the relationship.“It never occurred to me to think, oh, [the problem is] me,”she said.

Then, seven years ago, she had a relationship with a woman and concluded that she was homosexual.  Suddenly, things seemed to make sense.

“I got involved with someone I never expected to get involved with, and it was that kind of awakening,” she said. “I never fought it because it was like, oh, I understand why I had the issues I had early in life. I had a great deal of difficulty connecting with men in relationships.”

Meredith has been with her girlfriend, Nancy, a contractor who she met through mutual friends, for the past four years.  Because Nancy is openly lesbian, their relationship has not been kept a closely guarded secret.

“I had to reach a level of comfort because it wasn’t fair to push her back into secrecy,” she said. “We live very out lives in Los Angeles.”

When “Family Ties” ended, Meredith went on to direct and star in several TV movies, winning a daytime Emmy award in 1993 for portraying a lesbian mom in the CBS School Break Special, “Other Mothers.”

These days, she’s taken on a few roles, including promoting her skin care line,Meredith Baxter Simple Works.

She is also a public speaker and advocate, traveling the country discussing her personal battles with breast cancer and alcoholism.

Now that she is coming out, she also sees herself as an advocate for gay rights.

“This is a political act, even though that’s not what it feels like to me,” she said. “If anyone knows someone who’s gay or lesbian … they’re less likely to vote against them to take away their rights. I can be that lesbian you know now…”

I’m updating this random post because BFF mentioned over dinner that I haven’t been updating my blog — just  cos she hasn’t read today’s post yet. But in my defense, I told her there’s nothing interesting in my life right now cos it’s just revolves around dance, work and sleep (or the lack of).

So here I am blogging about how I skipped dance pract today for dinner with BFF. J joined us cos he said he was bored but I’m not sure if boredom got worse hanging around us shopping randomly for quite awhile. I wanted to get something new to wear for the sister’s 21st this weekend but I ended up buying a blouse for work at Zara, a cute 2010 calendar for work..

…and a cute looking notebook for Mooks. I didn’t manage to get a new piece of fabric for this weekend and I don’t think I will have the time to do so anymore. Maybe tomorrow before ballet. I also need to get some notebooks for the office X’mas gifts.

I’m stressed out with X’mas gifts cos BFF has already gotten mine and I haven’t even started hers. Boo. Come to think of it, we used to do our frantic Christmas shopping together and we kinda missed it last year and did we miss it the year before? Sigh.. we’re all so busy and caught up now (ok, mainly me perhaps)… I’m trying very hard to find a good day where we can go do our yearly photo-taking session down town.

I haven’t been spending alot of time with alot of people. Sigh.. I’m sorry friends. I’m trying my best.. Be patient with me until 6th February k? Now I need to sleep. Good night!

The fabulous weekend brunch is here to stay as the cafe along Rada st. hits up every saturday and sunday with all day breakfast treats and a new schedule to start the day bright and early. Trilogy boutique + Canteen cafe started the weekend right with new hours (10am-5pm) as well as a new brunch menu complete with an 80’s soundtrack that got heads boppin’ and movin’ to the retro beat.

NEW YORK, New York — Former “Family Ties” star Meredith Baxter has revealed she is gay.

Meredith, who starred as Michael J. Fox’s mother on the hit ’80s television show, confirmed the news to Matt Lauer on Wednesday’s “Today.”

I guess I wanted to… say that I’m a lesbian,” Meredith revealed on the NBC morning program. “It was a later-in-life recognition of that fact.”

Meredith, 62, has been living life as a lesbian for seven years and confirmed to Matt that she has been involved in a relationship for four years with contractor Nancy Locke. But it was only after becoming involved with another woman that Meredith realized why her three marriages to men didn’t work out.

I got involved with someone I never expected to get involved with and it was that kind of awakening and I never fought it because it was like, ‘Oh! I understand why I had the issues I had early in my life,’” Meredith said. “I had a great deal of difficulty connecting with men in relationships… Sometimes, I assumed I was a bad picker, which I was indeed, but I also was involved with people who made me think, ‘Oh, they’re the problem,’ because there were problems with the people I chose. It never occurred to me to think, ‘Oh, it’s me.’”

Meredith told Matt that sharing the news of her sexuality with her children, who range in age 25-42, was a lot easier than she expected.

The actress also revealed that her television family co-stars are aware she is gay.

“All my pals in ‘Family Ties’ know,” she said. “They all knew [when we had a reunion on 'Today' two years ago]. We all had dinners together and [TV husband], Michael Gross and his wife and Nancy and I go out, we’ve gone out many times. It’s all OK.”

Meredith said she and Nancy “live very out lives in Los Angeles” and the actress even went on a cruise with 1,200 lesbians not too long ago. But as for why she is speaking out now, Meredith said, in part, it was to share her story in her own words before a tabloid could put their spin on her life.

The idea was simple: Set up a bar to attract gay men and then use it to distribute information on AIDS/HIV prevention.

The media loved the idea – but all the attention kept the gay men away.

“They (gay men) refused to show up at the opening for fear of media exposure and potential discrimination,” said Zhang Jianbo, the bar’s founder and a local AIDS doctor in Dali, Yunnan province.

The bar, partially funded by the Dali Health Bureau in collaboration with two local anti-AIDS NGOs that Zhang heads, was meant to facilitate outreach efforts targeting groups facing a high HIV risk, particularly gay men.

Its opening was set for yesterday, World AIDS Day.

Zhang said intense media attention surprised him a lot.

“Had I known it, I would not have told the media,” he said.

Though there are gay bars in major cities in China, which experts estimate has 30 million homosexuals, including 20 million gay men, the one in Dali was dubbed “China’s first government-funded bar for AIDS control” and instantly got widespread media coverage.

“It’s understandable,” said Luke Zhao, executive editor of Beijing-based Gay Spot magazine. “Factors like government endorsement and support, gay men, HIV/AIDS, naturally made the gay bar so attractive to the press and the general public,” he told China Daily yesterday.

“As a long-term medical worker in HIV/AIDS prevention and control, I know how hard it is for us to reach these groups to promote self-protection messages like safe sex,” Zhang said.

He managed to establish contacts with more than 1,500 local gay men.

“To sustain and build more of that, I thought of opening a bar for regular get-togethers with them,” Zhang said.

“We could teach them about HIV/AIDS and how to protect themselves from it,” he said.

Now no one knows what will happen to a bar with no visitors or even a name.

“But it is at least a good signal that the government is beginning to pay attention to gay people as a vulnerable group facing HIV/AIDS and their health,” Zhao said.

The HIV/AIDS prevalence among gay men averages 6 percent in the country and same-sex transmission accounted for about one-third of new HIV infections last year, official tallies showed.

Friday 13th November, 2009…

I had such an amazing time here in Amsterdam. We got in late after the Helsinki show and it was a little like camp, our rooms were joining and we had the doors open…we giggled, hugged, jumped in circles…WE ARE ON OUR TOUR BREAK….AND IN AMSTERDAM….AND ABOUT TO HAVE AN AMAZING DAY!!!

When we woke up we went out and got on the bikes that Nick Cua had at the hotel for us, we had to jump straight into the cut throat world of Amstel bike riding, and believe me, they dont take their riding lightly here guys! First off, Alecia was nearly mowed down by a little old lady in a motorized wheelchair/kart thing…and from then on we got street smart and took control of our journey!!

We rode around the streets, over canals, up and down…we found Vyne, Anne Frank House and finally the Pancake Bakery. Of course they didnt have anything vegan, but me being me, I came prepared with a tasty cookie from Robbie (Eat Your Hearts Out catering), an Alpro blueberry soy yoghurt and some almonds. I may or may not have smothered my cookie in caramel flavoured syrup…added the almonds to the yoghurt, and downed it all!! Delish…Alecia ate some yummy foods, and we were off again, on our tredly’s! The streets were sooo beautiful, we rode up and down, bought some new perfumes (and replaced some old ones), shopped big in American Apparel and then f0und a sweet little Veggie/Vegan restaurant called Bolhoed…we shared a couple of meals and a dessert and then rode our way back to the hotel to get ready for the evening of fun…watching someone elses band for a change!

We went to the Paradiso and watched Paolo Nutini & his band…and I can surely say that it was nothing short of AMAZING!! That boys voice could melt all of Antarctica…and more…he really does have a soulful passion when he sings…definitely isnt as young as he is!! We got to hang with the boys and say thanks for a wonderful show…they were all good guys! And their Tour Manager was a friend that I had worked with in the past – Steve Chapman. Thanks for an awesome show guys!!

We were then escorted to the ‘Red Light District’ and wow, I have never seen anything like it. It was very eye opening. The girls there, right for the viewing of the boys before they were ‘chosen’ for the evening…very interesting! VERY!! (and the girls didn’t like the fact that there were “other” girls walking around their territory (Myself and Alecia). It was FUN!!!

Then it was straight for chips and pizza (even though “dad” our driver didnt want any of this to happen, from the Red Light to the Chips and Pizza…party pooper!! But Alecia MADE it happen! haha)  and then back to the hoey before packing and getting ready for a ‘kind of’ early morning…flying to Barcelona tomorrow for some more bike fun and touristy things that I am great for!! Ahh love a good map and either a good pair of legs or wheels…FUN TIMES AHOY!!!
