On newsstands now is the February issue of Lowrider Magazine. I have one feature and 5 events in this issue. Some of Stephanie & I’s photos from the LRM Hall of Fame were used but the feature was credited to LRM Staff.

Last night Stephanie & I went to see George Lopez at the Nokia Theater with my sister Chris & Ruben. George was on fire! He did do some of his regular material but he added some new stuff and changed it up. No photos from Glo since the Nokia is a “no photos” venue. After the concert we went to the Techniques CC Toy Drive and Dance in the City of Industry. Again, no photos since we went right from the concert. We had a great time with our friends from Techniques CC, Traffic CC and Together CC (Hi Angel! Hi Veronica!). Congrats to Clowny for getting Techniques’ Member of the Year award. Congrats to Joey for his award as well!

Sunday morning we drove out to the Inland Empire for a photo shoot. The shoot went well and the location was kick butt!

On the way home from the photo shoot we stopped at Duke’s in La Puente to check out the cruise night/toy drive.

After the Bomb Club Christmas Party Stephanie & I drove to Highland Park in the pouring rain to see our friend Martin’s band Sin Alley play at the Babes in Toyland Burlesque & Holiday Boutique event at Mr. T’s Bowl. Our friends Karen and Eddie Castro were at the event selling their super popular Gangsterbilly brand apparel. It was a good time! The burlesque show was very entertaining. La Cholita stole the show! The music was great! If you get a chance to see Sin Alley, don’t miss them. Radio Noir also played. They are very good and have a great sound. So the rain in Southern California kept quite a bit of people home for the annual Mooneyes Xmas Car Show. Stephanie & I got up at six am looked outside and it was pouring! We went back to sleep and were getting updates from our friends who had a booth at the show all morning. Finally at 11am we decided just to head to Irwindale since we are only about 10 minutes away.

When we got to the Irwindale Speedway we went right, parked, and popped the unbrellas. We went and met up with our friends from The Custom Crew and Gangsterbilly Brand. It poured and poured the time we were there. There was  a break for a few minutes so we snapped a few photos and went home. There were plenty of diehards there so not everyone stood home cause of the rain. Next year lets all pray for perfect So Cal weather!

The family and I hit up the Coast Airbrush Kustom Kulture show this morning in Anaheim. Julian and I went last year and had a great time so this year the whole family went! We ran into quite a few of our friends and met some new ones too! The show had a great turn out! Check it out next year!

Immortalized by the Back to the Future film franchise, and shrouded in urban mythology, DeLorean has recently seen a resurgence in mainstream culture, from Kanye West album covers to Kobe Bryant sneaker campaigns.  The trademark gull wing doors, stainless steel exterior, and angular body have taken their place in automotive history, not only for the car’s signature design, but for the resulting controversy in founder John DeLorean’s drug trafficking charges and other legal and criminal troubles.  As a result, DeLorean Motor Co. had an abbreviated life and only one car model made it off the assembly line. Rumored to be around 9,000 total produced and even less still in existence: The DMC-12.

If you’ve been tuned to our website, you might already be anticipating this special collection of T-shirts and baseball caps from The Hundreds. We teamed up with the DeLorean Motor Company exclusively to pay homage to an iconic automobile. Each T-shirt is a different take on DeLorean and DMC-12 from a The Hundreds perspective, mirroring various Southern California car culture tees, while still maintaining an appealing design for our customer and DMC enthusiast alike. The New Era baseball cap is also a salute to DMC’s aesthetic.  The 3 Adam Bomb emblems are indicative of the 3 letters on the car’s grill, and the undervisor pattern is derived from the DMC-12’s familiar back taillights.

Stephanie & I drove up the coast this morning to Oxnard California. We had some photoshoots scheduled and were also going to meet up with our friend Ralph D. and his family for a meal. The day went well. We went from the beach to the historic part of Oxnard and finished it off at a nice park. The day went fast and soon it was time to head back home. The kids did not want to get up early so they stood home. It was time to get home and get dinner for the family. What a great day to end a long holiday weekend. Today I had a couple of interviews and photoshoots to take care of and like most of the interviews I’ve done recently they were a lesson in the history of Lowriding. There is alot of history that has not been told and I have been fortunate to sit down and talk to some legends in Lowriding. These profiles will be in a future issue of Lowrider Magazine. I started my Sunday in the San Gabriel Valley not too far from my home.

My day ended in East Los Angeles right near where I spent some of my youth.

This weekend kicks off the holiday season in the Lowrider Culture which means its time for toy drives. Lowrider clubs do quite a bit of chairty work and having toy drives is one of the major fundraising events for the clubs. Here are a few of the events going down this weekend for a good cause, the kids! I know times are tough but if you have a few extra bucks donate to a children’s organization.

This weekend sees the staging of the National Catholic Youth Conference here in Kansas City, in which 21,000 young Benedict fans will gather in our fair city to pray, party, and honor J.C. by hanging out in the Purple People Eater. The name of their area in Bartle Hall? The “Reign Forest.” Actually… that’s kind of awesome.

According to the Star, this will be the third-largest convention held in Kansas City this year, so here’s hoping it provides downtown businesses (the wholesome ones, anyway) with a fiscal shot in the arm — though the early forecast for that is grim. In any event, the kids themselves are pumped.

“NCYC!” they shouted, calling out the abbreviation for the three-day National Catholic Youth Conference, which will end Saturday. “Christ Reigns” is the theme.

One girl crossed Grand Boulevard as the light turned yellow, pumping her hands in the air as she ran. “Woo for Catholics,” she yelled.

Outside of Genghis Grill and Chef Burger, one group shouted: “God is good!”

“All the time!” responded a passing one.

“There’s a lot of screaming, a lot of pride, I guess,” said Cillisha Knight, a freshman from Washington, D.C. “You know how a lot of people represent for the Ravens or the Redskins? We be representin’ for Christ.”

Indeed. Team Jesus is always the best team to be representin’.

Nothing wrong with a little harmless, religious fun. It’s refreshing to see adolescents enthusiastic about something, particularly during opening weekend of that lovesick mopefest starring Cedric Diggory. So have fun and be safe, you crazy kids, and enjoy your time in Kansas City.

Incidentally, I have no idea whether or not that’s a Cadillac. I know nothing about cars.

Last night G-Shock and Mister Cartoon held a media event to launch the Mister Cartoon G-Shock watch that is on its way to retailers now. The event was held at SA Studios in Los Angeles and there was media present from all over. Here are a few photos.

Everyone has different lives. Different morals cause different sets of ‘importants’ in each persons life. These directly affect that persons responsibilities and the people associated with them. It’s a tangled web and for what ever reason, at times we sometimes cannot express the feelings and desires we have for certain things in the way we want to, so we have outlets.

I remember when I was 17 I just couldn’t own a car, but loved them so much, so I had to find ways to get those feelings out there. One of the many ways was Model cars. I spent so much time building and playing with them, and a very integral part of that inspiration was a modeler named Jevries.

I don’t know Jevries limitations or interests per say but for some reason he stuck with model car building, and it has earned him international fame.

Each one of his builds are intricate, and extremely well engineered! He seems to have a true passion and skill for the hobby. I only wish I knew more about the specifics of his desire to be the best!

It’s interesting to see that his hobby has led him around the world. from California to Japan and back home to Holland.

Today was the Traffic CC car show at the Citizens Bank Arena in Ontario. The buzz has been going for months and Traffic did not dissapoint! The show was great! The weather, the cars, the people and the venue all came through and gave everyone in attendance a great experience. Many thanks to those I talked to today and met for the first time.  Those of you that did not attend missed out but there is always next year. Here are a few photos but there are alot more that I have to go through!
