In this hobby, nendoroids are such a big craze that it wouldn’t be surprising to have heard about them or own at least one. With the abundance of styles and characters from anime series, one nendoroid is bound to make it’s way into your home.

I’ve amassed what I think is a sizable collection, but I never posted pictures of what my nendoroid army looks like. The pictures are a bit outdated and do not accurately reflect the enlisting of new recruits.

According to Tsuki-board.net, I supposedly own roughly a combination of 160 nendoroids and nendoroid petites, but the numbers on Tsuki-board is not accurate considering it is open to users adding into the database which invites human error.

My very first nendoroid set was the heavily bootlegged versions of the Death Note and I’ve wisen up to both bootlegs and internet purchases. They were my first and last bootlegs and for those who don’t know the difference, it’s definitely a big difference and going authentic is the way to go in the long run. My first authentic nendoroid purchase (IIRC) was Bincho-tan at a local anime store.

As a completionist, I tend to complete sets regardless of how exclusive and/or limited the figures are or how the odds of being able to acquire the figure are stacked against me. Given the manufacturer behind the nendoroid line is Good Smile Company (for the most part), the exclusives and limiteds released are plentiful and have to be one of the most aggravating line to collect. Anything from event exclusives such as your standard fare of Wonder Festival and Comiket items to the unconventional shrine solicitation, mail-in dvd coupons, webshop, magazine, and video game sets.

If you’re not into cute, super deformed/chibi-fied characters, nendoroids are probably not your thing and it saves you the trouble of having to deal with such a problematic delightful line-up. For the large quantity of nendoroids out there in a typical $34.99 price range, collecting this line quickly adds up in costs. I think the normal retail price that nendoroids are sold for are a bit steep for the amount of quality involved and scale. For around the same price, I could purchase a full-scaled figure from Kotobukiya’s US distributor and mainly prefer full-scaled figures over non-scaled ones. Sometimes, nendoroids have amazing retail prices such as Saber Lion nendoroid at $29.99 and other times nendoroids are regularly priced at $41.99 if they come with additional accessories. From another perspective, the price for this nendoroid is just about right considering this is an imported novelty item.

As you can see, I can’t say “no” to these devilishly cute little items and wonder when or if I’ll ever tire of this figure type. Even with how much is constantly being mass-produced and the never-ending releases of extraneous product I wouldn’t have bought in the first place had a nendoroid or nendoroid petit not been attached to it.

s

This picture was supposed to go up a few months back but the laptop explosion among other things is the reason why this picture is going up so late. I am missing a handful of recently acquired nendoroids in this picture, but I am sure that I own a good portion of the ones that have come out if I haven’t got them on preorder.

I had a difficult time stacking the boxes of nendoroids on top of one another in fear of the boxes falling over and taking damage. I was rearranging the figure boxes and decided to use some of them as support for the nendoroid wall. Thank you Hayate, Moetan, Hime, Onechanbara, Spirit of Wonder girl, Louise, Reinforce, Haruhi, Iroha, Unity May, Garnet, Hiyori, Chidori, Klan Klang, Kpuhime, Saber Maid and everyone else.

sIssss

I hope everyone had a really fantastic Thanksgiving holiday. My Thanksgiving holidays are always the same – nothing special and nothing disastrous. I am a bit ticked off that eating establishments overcharge base price just because it’s a holiday, but I should have expected that. Now, I didn’t have time to cook or prepare anything for Thanksgiving and my family went out to do their own thing this year meaning I couldn’t come over and eat some good food with them.
For all the Black Friday morning shoppers, I hope all of you came out with superb deals.

Part 4 of this series moves us to a mere 2.5 years ago. While I haven’t actually checked, this

Part 4 of this series moves us to a mere 2.5 years ago. While I haven’t actually checked, this season marked a high point in number of series produced, anecdotally at least. This season for me was defined by my earliest exposures to inexplicable hatred toward mediocre series, the inability for me to finish off other series and perhaps 2 of the best examples of social commentary I have seen in anime.

In one of the early season openers, and despite the fact it did not actually air on TV, Keitai Shoujo presented a small social experiment on a fan base (provided they could actually be bothered to vote). The premise was basically five stereotypical one-dimensional characters do stuff with their phones while doing absolutely nothing extraordinary. The fans in the end chose the girl who communicated as little as possible but I think there’s a good chance it was rigged anyway in retrospect.

Hayate the Combat Butler opened with one of my favorite single episodes in my years of watching this stuff. Pure class warfare jokes at their finest with Hayate refusing to describe bad people as they really were. Unfortunately, it’s impossible to keep that up 52 episodes in a row, so from there it became slowly about parodies, and more parodies. At least it’s better than the parody crap that comes out of Hollywood most of these days.

In a similar manner Oh! Edo Rocket also contributed heavily in breaking the 4th wall and in social commentary of its own. The series does a great job in making characters who do bad things sympathetic, while also keeping things fresh. While it is about as historically accurate as Strike Witches that’s not necessarily a bad thing for me here. However, it suffers from that great weakness of period shows in that almost no one would watch them or buy either.

Sola could probably be accused of trying far, far too hard. After watching this I thought it was a mediocre series but nothing worth writing home about. It tried to do something interesting with a male lead who didn’t actually exist and 2 female leads who really had no depth, and an ending that was terrible in saving the wrong character. However, I came across a few opinions which dared to call it the worst thing ever made. Do people really get so emotionally attached to something like this? Was this show so popular that it created a backlash? About a couple hours later I had moved on. So has everyone else I presume.

Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS is another example of a three part series where the quality varies. The first season is good, the second excellent, the third I would rather not recall from memory. They got a surprising amount of miles out of the series from the beginning I would say.

Finally I conclude this section with another comedy series that I think some people may have heard of in Lucky Star (note I can’t be bothered to put the star in the middle there). Speaking of backlash, I know this had plenty, to the point where the director was sacked inside a month of this starting. Yes, there are lots of problems in the strike rate of some of the jokes, but I think as a comedy this worked pretty well. I should also add I liked the long running joke in the first episode, which probably means my opinion at this point means nought.

Highlights from Shows Unseen (or Unfinished)

With a name of a series like Murder Princess, I don’t know how that gets such low ratings. I don’t even think I have to look at a plot synopsis for that since it seems to be in the title. Gurren Lagann was great from what I have seen. Maybe I should finally get around to watching that part after the time jump. Fears of a drop in quality are preventing me from continuing. Am I wrong?

Seto no Hanayome looks like something I would actually like as yet another slice-of-life comedy. I need to make the time surely. All I know about Claymore is that it has a rather surreal ending that made a bunch of people upset. Finally, Lovely Complex was a bunch of emotional fun, but maybe the high concept was lost on me eventually.

Here’s another piece of poop. Spelling doesn’t count, and I have completed all shows in question.

Love Hina/Love Hina Again – Motoko Aoyama

Okay, so here we have the classic awesome “girl-dressed-like-a-miko-who-has-a-sword-and-talks-big-but-is-actually-still-a-girl-in-the-end” character. Motoko is awesome and I’m just going to list some reasons:

She’s got a sword, and anytime a girl has a sword in an anime it sets that character up to be awesome right away.

She’s dressed like a miko. Cmon, that’s great.

Even though she gets angry a lot, she get embarassed a lot (which is like all girls….well…..all girls according to anime at least (IRL girls are more….normal))

She’s afraid of turtles.

That’s right, a samurai girl afraid of turtles. I love weird random traits that charcters have. Afraid of turtles? RANDOM = AWESOME. END.

Love Love? – Hikaru Jougasaki

At one point, I actually dropped this show. Then I picked it up, finished it and liked it. Apparently it’s a sequal to Smash Hit. I haven’t seen Smash Hit, but I could follow this fine. I actually was watching Smash Hit at one point, but then I dropped it (just like Love Love?). I’ll pick it up later, finish it, and like it.

As far as characters are concerned, Hikaru wins for the simple fact that she is a tomboy. I love the tomboy characters, they’re awesome. In case you’re wondering, Hikaru was raised by 6 brothers.

Lucky Star – Konata Izumi

A parody of "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time," which is my favorite anime movie ever.

While looking for a good picture of Konata (of which there are a SHITLOAD), I found a few that were different, and so here they are. What’s so special about those? Nothing, one was a DMC parody, and the other two were just different artists. That’s it. So why is Konata the winner here? Well, I did write a whole post about it before, but I’ll write some stuff anyway.

Lucky Star, if you’re wondering, had a pointless plot, but I still find it to be one of my favorite shows (top 30).

Why? Isn’t it the same thing as K-On?

No. K-On was an attempt at a show with no substance other than to try to make the characters more moe than the pervious episode. It actually wasn’t even a real show. Lucky Star at least dealt with different things from episode to episode, and it had this guy singing some endings. Holy Fuck, maybe that guy should be my favorite character?

. . . . . .

Nah, I’ll stick with Konata, because she’s funny with her repetitive otaku jokes. Whenever she talks, you know she’s going to talk about gaming or manga or something, for example, the whole “I’m reading” scenario that Baka-Raptor, an avid Lucky Star…..err…..non-liker, talked about. These kind of jokes, for whatever reason, amuse me. That, coupled with the parodies of other shit, make me like Konata and Lucky Star. That’s it.

I actually managed to catch up to Seitokai no Ichizon as well as Nyan Koi!, and I can’t say I

I actually managed to catch up to Seitokai no Ichizon as well as Nyan Koi!, and I can’t say I’m unhappy about it. It seems as though at least one of the anime decisions I made consistently this season was a good one.

I already talked about my general love of Seitokai this season, so I won’t say it again, but I do enjoy the show at every episode. It’s just fun to find a show with references you can catch a majority of the time. Whereas with Lucky Star, a series often compared to Seitokai by bloggers, I hadn’t been watching anime long enough to catch everything. I know I’m not the only person with that feeling either. I’m not the newest anime watcher on the interwebz!

I think it’s good to have a break from shows and manga referencing the very old series and moving onto more recent items. As good as some of the classic anime is, it’s just not relate-able for the newer generation of “otaku”. There’s been a spike in this faction large enough that some concessions should probably be made within the anime world.

Anyway, I finally made my way all the way to Seitokai episode six. I’m proud of myself for making it that far so early in the season. Last season I was on Bakemonogatari episode six when everyone else was on episode ten.

The path to six was filled with fun, including a classic anime beach episode that took place completely in the student council room. That has been my favorite episode so far. Aside from a seriously bizarre blindfold, there wasn’t a lot to complain about. I don’t care so much that everyone was in a bathing suit almost the entire time as I do that the episode itself was able to deliver some serious fun without resorting to cheap tricks. Cliches, yes. Cheap tricks, not so much.

Just remember: never volunteer to write a crazy student council’s novel.

–

And since I’m there…Seitokai no Ichizon episode six was nice too. It started off with (gasp!) a serious scene between Minatsu and the teacher that keeps coming in but I can’t for the life of me remember the name of on a consistent basis. Then Minatsu eats her lunch, and I’m too distracted by the piggies to think about what this serious scene even means.

Yum!

Then Minatsu goes into the school, and I reflect on her relation to Mafuyu. They don’t look a thing alike, but they’re supposed to be sisters? I’d prefer twins or something. (Which is a yay for Nyan Koi! which has twins, though of a somewhat generic sort.) Even just the same eye color would be nice.

So, anyway, the episode continues on and they reject a statement by Sugisaki, as usual. Instead they discuss an epic battle for the school’s festival, and the teacher-whose-name-I-do-not-remember comes in to break it up because they’re having a real meeting.

Then it is revealed: the Shiina sisters are going to transfer! But don’t worry, Sugisaki has a plan!

Very low quality screencap FTW?

Well, it was a plan, but not a good one.

Then the Academy Rangers assign colors and start an epic battle scene! Random? Of course not! It’s Prez’s plan to keep the Shiina sisters at the school, because Minatsu loves this sort of thing, and it would be just great at the school festival.

By the end of the episode, Sugisaki and Minastu are revealed to have a past relationship, and the Shiina sisters decide to stay after all, but only until the spring. It was a surprisingly solemn episode, but it was still nice. I’d prefer fun though because that’s what I expect when I turn on Seitokai.

–

tl;dr

I can’t believe I wrote a post that long about one episode. Well, “about one episode”.

I want to see more fanart from this series. Inugami Kira (illustrated the thumbnail for this post) is nice, but they’re the only person who has done great fanart from this series. Even Sacra Neko, who I usually like, only managed something mediocre.

Sad.

E agora a música Do-Dai, de THE IDOLM@STER Live For You!, de 2008.

O comecinho, apenas o comecinho.

Primeiro, Hibike! Taiko no Tatsujin, música original de Taiko no Tatsujin: Tobikkiri! Anime Special.

Now, if I remember correctly, I did a kind of ‘first impression’ review of Lucky Star, after only seeing one episode. Well, now I’ve gotten to episode 16, and my opinions have really changed, so I’m going to do a quick review of it again

The first thing that I would like to comment on would be the animation. I’ve read a lot of reviews in which people complain that it is not up to the level that Haruhi Suzumiya was, but does it really need to be. The animation in Lucky Star is all about bright colours, and cute-looking characters – and it really does suit the mood of the show perfectly.

The opening theme is, well, interesting. To be honest, catchy as it is, it just gives me a headache, and I usually skip it.

The main characters are all pretty interesting, particulary Konata and Kagami, who are as-good-as polar opposites, but still really great friends. Not to mention Konata’s manga/gaming/anime obsession; I will never get bored of the classic ‘Legendary Girl A’ joke, where the employees of various manga-based stores try desperately to make her buy their products. There are various other characters too, but Konata and Kagami seem to be the ones holding the show.

The plot is… non-existent. The story is about a group of girls just going about their day-to-day lives, while having conversations that most teenage girls would have. Despite this, the characters are so much fun that a plot wasn’t really needed, and would probably have just gotten in the way.

Overall, I’m really enjoying watching Lucky Star, and would definately recommend it to anyone who is looking for a cute anime, with fun characters, and some good comedy in there too (although, there are A LOT of Haruhi Suzumiya references, so you might want to watch that anime first ).

8/10

Yesterday I received my late October loot wich contained some very beautiful ladies

Here they are!

2x Saber Lily Nendoroid

1/4 Fate T. Harlaown in one sexy bikini!

See the size difference! O.o

I got to say Fate looks so gorgeous plus the fact she is wearing a bikini that is little on the small side which I don’t mind at all

The light is not perfect since it’s shining from above hence the shadow you see on Feito-chan’s face But we got 2 eyes to compensate!

I totally like her expression and the pose she got. With her 2 arms leaning backwards on her head <3

Another photo from the side. I really like the black ribbon on her left arm.

I like the details on her feet with the nail polish just like Nanoha got aswell

A nice angle from below for certain things….

Saber Lily: You can take as many pictures as you want… Anywhere Anytime…
Yandere?!?!

Family shot!

Say cheese!

This month loot arrived faster than the loot I was expecting at end of October… That package is still being kept hostage at our nice custom people for 3 weeks now! =/
Anyway, I had to get her when HobbySearch announced their sale and saw her for a mere 2080 yen +/- !!!

I quickly ordered her via my iPhone since I didn’t want to take the risk and order her when I got home from work. And it was a wise decision! Since she was sold out when I was done with work… Phew!

Her she is! She is actually my first girl who actually wears “modern” weaponry. All others are wearing swords, spears, staff, axe. But can add guns to the list now
She looks better than on the stock photo’s and her pose is much better then I expected.

For some reason I liked to shoot from below for this figure…
Brings out the awesomeness of this figure

The more I look at her, the more I start to like her…
Because that is she looks very hot in the latest manga…. *drool*

A shot from above.

Shot from the back wich for some reason I like… Because that skirt is so short! *grin*

Off course when a panty shot is available… you gotta make one. * The unwritten rule! *

She also comes with guns that is in the second form. Wich I most likely not gonna use but who knows….
At least my little girls got something to play with!

Miku & Kagami: ” We got new weaponry!!!

Kaito: “HOLY SH*T!” They got upgrades?!?!
