Mit einem Markenwert von umgerechnet 14,0 Millarden Euro rangiert die Luxusmarke Luis Vuitton derzeit auf Platz 16 im Gesamtranking der besten internationalen Marken. Damit hat man nicht nur den selben Platz wie 2008 innebehalten. Wiederum ist man ist man unter den Luxusgütern die unumstrittene Nummer Eins auf dem Siegerpodest.

Die nächste Marke im Ranking, die aus dem Bereich der Mode kommt, ist – so höre und staune – H&M. Die Schweden sind 2009 auf Platz 21 (2008 – Platz 22) gelandet. Sie bekleiden – passend gesagt – damit den ersten Platz in der Klasse Kleidung.

Eine Jeans-Marke ist übrigens unter den Top 100 nicht zu finden.

Die weltbekannten Taschen aus braunem, gewachstem Segeltuch mit dem Monogramm “LV” sind längst nicht mehr die einzigen Luxusgüter, mit denen der französische Erzeuger die Menschen in seinen Bann zieht. Auch mit Schuhen, Uhren, Schmuck und Sonnenbrillen als Accessoires hat man sich weltweit ein großes Klientel geschaffen.

Handwerkskunst der Spitzenklasse, viel Liebe zum Detail und edelste Materialien zeichnen die Produkte aus, die außerdem durch signifikantes Design brillieren. Kein Wunder also, dass auch namhafte Personen wie Sean Connery, Catherine Deneuve und Mikhail Gorbachev sich nicht davor scheuen für diese Top-Marke zu werben.

Seit mehr als 50 Jahren begleitet und prägt dieses Label die Modewelt. Mit dieser kontinuierlichen Erfolgsgeschichte hat man sich nun eben auch den ersten Platz unter den Luxusmarken erobert und gesichert.

Un pomeriggio di novembre come tanti trascorso tra le “vie dello shopping napoletano” come usasi definire quel guazzabuglio di lusso e creatività che va da via Calabritto e risale per via dei Mille passando per piazza dei Martiri ed uno scorcio di via Chiaia.

Il profumo di salsedine proveniente dal mare mischiato a quello dolciastro delle signore ingioiellate ed intabarrate nei loro soprabiti non può che rimandare alla tipica aria natalizia.

Nelle vetrine nulla che non si possa desiderare, dall’ombrello di Hermes da 850€ ai Rolex da oltre 10000€ passando per le immancabili borse Luis Vuitton da 1500€ e ed i giubbini Fay da 1000€ ciascuno. 

Si dirà, l’indossare abiti ed accessori griffati è soltanto una questione di gusto oltre che di portafoglio naturalmente.

Una spiegazione troppo semplicistica oltre che consolatoria per essere acriticamente accettata.

Volendo tralasciare solo per un attimo, l’utopia di una società di uguali, che cos’è che non va nel comportamento di chi, pur “senza colpa” possiede quello che un altro suo simile non avrà mai?

 Ho osservato a lungo gli avventori delle boutique del lusso e ciò che più mi ha colpito non sono stati  tanto i loro lussuosi averi ma il loro atteggiamento. Un intrinseco senso di superiorità verso chi “non può” caratterizzava quei volti tutti diversi eppure tutti uguali.

Come se la competenza degli individui, le loro peculiarità, il loro essere persone e non numeri, si misurasse con il parametro dei soldi e del potere. Come se il materialismo scansando in un colpo solo fin’anche lo stesso edonismo fosse divenuto l’unico dio al cui cospetto immolarsi. Come se l’esistere d’un tratto coincidesse con l’avere.

Quasi che la forma divenuta sostanza sostituisse il reale valore degli individui con la mera spocchia.

Avrei voluto fermarli, quegli automi goffi ed esanimi e gridargli in pieno volto che ciò che rende rispettabile un individuo non è la ricchezza che si indossa o le cariche che si riveste ma è semplicemente la propria dignità di essere umano.

Quella stessa dignità che ti consente di attribuire il giusto valore alle cose, di avere la consapevolezza che possedere un Rolex o una Luis Vuitton non è sintomatico di un essere migliore rispetto a chi non li acquisterà mai e non per scelta ma perché con quel danaro deve sfamarsi. Quella dignità che ti consente di porre un limite all’ingordigia di chi tutto può semplicemente perché nessuna materialità è per sempre.

Quella stessa dignità che ti porta ad interrogarti, dopo aver ceduto alla tentazione di un acquisto esoso, se in fondo è giusto un mondo dove convivono la gozzoviglia e la fame, la noia ed il desiderio, il vivere e il sopravvivere.

Un mondo in cui a chi muore con gli occhi aperti fa da contro altare chi, ignavo e melenso vivacchia con gli occhi chiusi.

A crise pode até estar dando sinais de adeus, já que ontem as Bolsas do mundo se animaram com a notícia de que o JP Morgan obteve no terceiro trimestre lucro 580% maior que o do mesmo período do ano passado.

Bom sinal, sem dúvida. Mas os reflexos da crise puderam ser vistos na última semana de moda francesa que, em tempos de contenção econômica, priorizou uma moda mais “pé no chão”, sem tantos luxos e ousadias, porém sem perder o glamour.

A tarefa criativa esteve um pouco mais árdua nesta temporada, porque baixar custos não pode significar cair no lugar comum, há que se buscar sempre a novidade e continuar irresistível!

A Chanel, por exemplo, apresentou uma coleção contemporânea, de cores suaves e formas leves, porém indiscutivelmente sexy. Aliás, essa é a palavra de ordem da temporada: sensualidade, que aparece em looks muito curtos (curtíssimos!!!), fendas, decotes, lingeries aparentes… enfim, corpo à mostra.

 As silhuetas são soltas, os tecidos vaporosos, à exceção da Balenciaga e Balmain. Houve, também, o oposto, com a introdução de elementos do guarda-roupa masculino, ombros fortes, cinturas marcadas, caso da Dior.

Hussein Chalayan apresentou seu smoking desconstruído, Balenciaga abusou das geometrias, Stella Mc Cartney misturou renda e alfaiataria. A Maison Martin Margiela “recortou” suas peças, Givenchy veio cheio de grafismos. 

 Houve flores, muitas delas… mas ainda restou alguma referência étnica, assim como os nudes, beges, branco, rosa e preto.

Enfim, em época de recessão, teve menos pano, menos desperdício, uma moda mais usável sem que se perdesse criatividade, inventividade… O que mais se viu, sem dúvida: o corpo da mulher!

5. Les DC Life Admiral Sport chrome. Parce qu’elles sortent en janvier 2010, que leur design rappelle les très stylées Y-3 montantes, que le chrome donne l’impression que vous rentrez d’un weekend sur la lune ou que vous êtes le troisième membre de Daft Punk, et qu’il y a de fortes chances pour que les gens s’arrachent les cheveux ne sachant pas de quel modèle il s’agit quand ils le verront aux pieds de leur artiste favori dans des pages de magazine d’ici quelques mois.

4. Les Reebok Ex-O-Fit S.G. Strap montantes par Mita. Parce que le modèle essaie de surfer sur la vague des Yeezy et des gros scratchs, qu’on ne parle pas assez de Reebok et surtout, pour pouvoir rigoler des gros ringards qui ont acheté les Air Force imitation Gucci ou Vuitton, et qui vont s’extasier devant cette paire horrible que même les contrefacteurs chinois n’auraient pas osé imaginer.

3. Les escarpins Louboutin x Piper Hiedsieck. Parce qu’il faut bien plaire aux filles et s’intéresser à ce qui les fait fantasmer, que le talon en cristal dessiné par Christian Louboutin est tout simplement ouf, que ça réveille nos instincts fétichistes enfouis au fond de notre subconscient, que le coffret contenant la chaussure et une bouteille millésimée va coûter les yeux du cul mais qu’au final on s’en fout. Parce que de boire du champagne dans une chaussure de femme, ça n’a pas de prix.

2. Les Timberlands personnalisées. Parce que la mode des 90’s revient inexorablement en force, que tout le monde va ressortir les beiges en daim classique, que la génération d’enfants ayant grandi avec le tag que nous sommes fait que l’on adore mettre notre nom partout et que franchement, 190 euros pour une paire de Tim’s unique, on aurait craqué tout de suite ya 10 ans.

1. Les Dekline Wu Tang “Killa Beez”. Parce qu’elle permettent d’évacuer la frustration de ne pas posséder les Dunk Wu Tang (élues meilleure paire de Dunk par Complex et disponibles ici pour 5000 dollars), qu’elles sont éditées à seulement 500 exemplaires dans le monde, que ça permet de parler du Wu Tang et d’enchaîner sur le fameux débat stérile “Le rap, c’était mieux avant” et surtout, parce qu’il faut soutenir l’action charitable faite envers les Killa Beez, petits frères éloignés et affiliés occasionels qui vont vivre leur unique moment de gloire avec cette paire.

Super Flat First Love By Louis Vuitton and Takashi Murakami.

I just watched the documentary about Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton and also Takashi Murakami at MOCA and it’s inspiring and also a bit tiering, these people work ALL the time.

A edição é limitada. Lançada pela grife própria, a Marc by Marc Jacobs, cada t-shirt custa apenas US$ 24, mas só foram feitas 200 unidades de cada estampa.

In my opinion the Kanye’s have a more classic look. Don’t get me wrong the Gucci’s are classic too but the LV’s to me look authentic. I’m a self- proclaimed sneaker freak, so my shoe game has to be authentic. You might find both pairs of sneakers in my closet very soon but tell me what you think.. The LV’s Or the Gucci’s?

Yes, I know we all know she is pregnant, but Adriana Lima showed off her pregnancy at the Louis Vuitton celebration to mark the 40th anniversary of the first moon landing. The event was held at New York’s Natural History Museum.

The New Wu feat. Ghostface Killah & Method Man – Raekwon

Ghostface Killah, Method Man and Raekwon.  What’s not to like about this line-up from three members of the Wu-Tang Clan?

This video takes place in two different settings: on the streets and in the club. On the streets Raekwon is being spied on by the cops. He captures one of them and threatens to kill him (that’s the extent of the plot). In the club, it’s a big party with many special guests — like RZA, The Alchemist, MoeRoc and Mad Linx, to name a few.

Of course, no video would be complete without a few product placements, too.  The most notable occurs around 1:30 on the bottom right of the screen — there’s a guy wearing a Louis Vuitton jacket and hat, which is worth well over $2,000.

Luis Vuitton Core Values ad campaign celebrates the 40th anniversary of Apollo 11’s first steps on the moon.  The  ad campaign features Sally Ride – who was the first American woman in space, Buzz Aldrin- he was in Apollo 11, and he was among the first steppers on the moon, Jim Lovell – the commander of Apollo 13.

The ad places the astronauts under the Moon, in a truck looking up the night sky.

I wish I would step on the Moon!

“Look at him; walking like he owns the train, who does he think he is?” This was (I’m embarrassed to admit) my stinking attitude on the 7.40 to Fenchurch street this morning. Who was this guy ? I have no idea, but the way he swaggered onto the carriage, carrying his Luis Vuitton ‘President Classeur’ briefcase and blinding us with diamond encrusted Rolex, just irritated me. Hair slicked back, FT under his arm and walking at a pace slightly behind the crowd, he looked every bit the ’superstar’, I was beginning to wonder if the chauffeur had forgot to pick him up as this wasn’t the usual morning commuter that one expects to squeeze next to at 7.45 on a Friday morning.

So he had money, big deal!  And the clothes he wore looked great, and people couldn’t stop staring at him, but did he have to talk down to the women and demand that she move out of the way so he could have 2 seats in the middle? ‘2 seats’ I hear you ask. Yes needed, he need two, one for him and one for his ego! Of course I observed all of this discreetly from behind the fortification of my newspaper (you can’t make it too obvious, the fact that you’re gawking at people as they enter the train). Now firmly seated, still in eye shot, my mind works overtime as I try and guess what he’s all about. What does he do for a living? Is he a director of a company? A banker? Does he work in the music industry? Football agent? (he was too old to be a player for sure….but had the same arrogance so I suspected a similar level of money). What kind of house does have? Is he married (no sign of a ring), he can’t possibly have kids, he’d have more humility…….STOP!  This obsession went on for at least 5 minutes, what was I doing? Why should I even care?

As I refocused, got over myself and tried to rid myself of the stinking attitude that had engulfed my soul, I thought about the verse I read in Philippians just the last night, “let your attitude be the same at that of Christ, who though God, didn’t considered equality with God something to be grasped, but emptied himself, taking on the attitude of a servant”. Think about that for a second. When Jesus walked the earth he was fully God yet didn’t call upon that power or privilege. He never pulled out the God card and said, “hey, I’m God, move over……do you know who I am?” Think about the privileges that the ‘President of the United States’ has. Everywhere he goes people pander to his every need. He struggles to do anything for himself as people rush to serve him. He expects it though; it comes with the office of President, and whilst he himself may not be proud the chair in which he sits demands that we act a certain way toward him. What about company directors, celebrities, people with excessive money, don’t they demand the same? Because of what they have, who they,  people should ‘worship’ them or at the very least show them respect and servitude. They pull out the “do you know who I am?” card all the time, humility is not in their vocabulary. Even if the person themselves isn’t arrogant often the entourage that follows is, and wants Joe Bloggs to ‘bow down and worship’.

This man I saw this morning, these celebrities and sports alike stars that strut their stuff, we have a saying for them don’t we?… “They’re so full of themselves”. We too, may be guilty of the same attitude from time to time as the focus of our life becomes ‘our’ needs and ‘our’ desires. Contrast that though with Christ, “he emptied himself” in contrast to being ‘full’ of himself.  He was the President of all Presidents, king of all kings, director of all directors, celebrity of all celebrities. He was the richest of all who are rich, yet he never used that power. He never abused his authority; he never pulled the ‘God’ card, he, out of choice, ‘emptied’ himself. He came to serve not to be served and insisted on giving us the right to be called ‘children’ of God rather than insisting on his own ‘rights’, as the ‘son’ of God.

The challenge is set before us, a new commandment we have been given, that we ‘love one another’ as Christ loved the Church laying his life down for her. He loved to the point of submission; if we too are to love as Christ loved we also need to lay down our ‘rights’, those things we think we deserve. Those things that we expect form others. Instead we should look at how we can serve one other in love. Our attitude should not be ‘what can I ‘get’ from you?’ but ‘what can I ‘give’ to you’.

Don’t be ‘full’ of yourself, be like Christ and ‘empty’ yourself. Paul said it most succinctly, “I have been crucified with Christ, I no longer live, the life I now live, I live by faith in the son of God who gave his life for me”

I know that you would have lost sleep if you did not hear about the response to Luis Vuitton from Officer, sorry, Rick Ross, so here goes:

According to Ross, the sunglasses worn on the cover of the May 2009 issue of XXL Magazine were customized with solid gold accents by Jacob Bernstein, AKA “The Sunglasses Pimp.”

“It’s the same thing as buying a Rolls Royce and having it tricked out; just because the product has been customized by me doesn’t take away from the fact that the frames are authentic Louis Vuitton Millionaires,” Bernstein told AHH.

Ross appears on the cover of the May 2009 issue of XXL Magazine wearing a pair of Louis Vuitton – like frames.

Controversy erupted yesterday (May 11), when a representative for Louis Vuitton issued a statement disassociating itself with XXL Magazine and Rick Ross over the glasses.

“We were dismayed to see the cover of the May 2009 issue of XXL Magazine, which features a photo of Rick Ross wearing a pair of sunglasses prominently featuring counterfeit Louis Vuitton trademarks,” stated Louis Vuitton Malletier Michael D. Pantalony. “Because the photo has generated considerable confusion among your readers and Louis Vuitton customers among others, we feel it is important to clarify several points.”

“The first is that the sunglasses Mr. Ross is wearing were not made by Louis Vuitton, and in fact, are counterfeit,” Pantalony clarified. “Louis Vuitton did not grant permission to Mr. Ross or to whoever did make the sunglasses to use our trademarks. The second is that no affiliation, sponsorship or association exists between Rick Ross or XXL and Louis Vuitton. The third is that counterfeiting is illegal.”

Bernstein, who was responsible for Ross’ customized shades, is well known in the world of fashion via his Los Angeles – based business, Jack’s Eyewear.

Bernstein has customized sunglasses for a number of actors and entertainers, including Jay-Z, Kanye West, Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Sharon Stone, Fergie, Gwen Stefani, Brad Pitt, Usher and numerous others.

Geez, its so hard to be the ‘Bawse’, you can’t even wear sunglasses in peace!  Now if you admitted to buying them at the Flea Market, I would said see, Rick Ross is hood lol.  Don’t mind me, its too early.

Louis Vuitton wanted to be part of Selfridges’ birthday celebrations. Selfridges is celebrating their  100th anniversary. And so LV has contributed with a mini version of their legendary trunk, the cake trunk.

The trunk is designed to transport a birthday cake, and it’s a unique, exclusive piece handmade in the LV factory in Asnieres. The outside features the brand’s legendary logo, while inside is a yellow lining in tribute to Selfridges’ company colour.

Louis Vuitton and Selfridges have donated this one-of-a-kind Birthday Cake Trunk to CLIC Sargent to help support children with cancer.
