If this birthday cupcake is Jessica Ennis, then my previous efforts are Eddie ‘The Eagle

If this birthday cupcake is Jessica Ennis, then my previous efforts are Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards…or better still, LouBug in Year 9 cross-country running.

This cupcake is from Lynne’s Pattern Parlour and my first three efforts (despite all coming from the same pattern) all came out slightly differently. I remember struggling with every row, YouTube-ing ‘kfb’ and ‘m1′ over and over. Running round the track, stopping ever so often to take a look at a How to Run handbook, or maybe just for a lie down.

This time, however, I’ve been steaming ahead. Powering on to the finishing line to Olympic Gold. No mistakes, no starting again. Just as it should be for my first ever knitted gift.

This week is national doughnut week so here are some doughnutty Folksy finds! You can get these Doug

This week is national doughnut week so here are some doughnutty Folksy finds!

You can get these Doughnut earrings from Cherryloco. They are hand painted and come in a gift box.

You can knit yourself some of these doughnuts using this pattern from Lynne’s Pattern Parlour. They look like they’d be a great project for using up left over bits of yarn.

This Doughnut Pincushion has been made by Pipinopolis. If you are after a different flavour then they can be made in any colour that you request.

This fantastic White Iced Ring Doughnut has been wet-felted by Woolly Duck. There are a few different types of doughnut in the shop and it took me a while to try to narrow it down and just pick one… I couldn’t do it though so here is another:

This amazing jam-filled doughnut looks so real!

I have been featured in a Folksy finds post myself this week so head on over to the It’s the little things blog to see a collection of farm inspired picks.
