Cu ceva timp in urma Intel si-a anuntat noile modele de procesoare, Lynnfield, care dupa parerea multora ‘ar rupe’ piata. Eu sunt cam sceptic, dar fiecare cu parerea lui. Daca s-ar intampla ca Lynnfield sa faca furori, si sa fie cel mai bun procesor din 2009, AMD ar pierde teren, si inca mult. Realizand si ei acest lucru, ca raspuns la noul procesor Intel, ei nu reduc preturile la Phenom II, ci ne intampina cu un Athlon II X4 (quad-core, 45nm) cu un pret ce urca de la 99$.

Deocamdata avem 2 modele: Athlon II X4 630 care ruleaza la 2.8 Ghz si un Athlon II X4 620 ce ruleaza la 2.6 Ghz; ambele vor functiona pe placi de baza AM3 cu memorie DDR3 sau AM2+ cu memorie DDR2. Fata de Athlon II X2, fiecare core va avea 512KB L2 memorie cache, deci L3 va lipsi.

Teoretic acest procesor ar fi foarte frumos, mai ales avand in vedere faptul ca cel mai ieftin quad-core de la Intel ar ajunge undeva la 160$. Ne ramane de acum sa-l testam personal sa vedem daca isi merita banii, chiar daca e un pret relativ mic.

Well known graphics card maker PNY has announced that from now on it will be offering lifetime warranties onits graphics cards. Offering a replacement card that would be a ‘comparable model’, so in 10 years time you could be in for a treat when your GTX 295 finally snuff’s it.

They are assuring it’s a no BS scheme, and to qualify you must hold the original receipt and register your purchase on PNY.com. The card must not be “altered in anyway that affects performance”, so I assume overclocking is out of the question. Also doesn’t really suggest whether or not other things such as aftermarket coolers will void the deal.

Model’s that will qualify will be the GTX 295 1792MB, GTX 285 1GB, and GTX 275/GTX 260 896MB models.

Тайванският сайт за слухове , DigiTimes , има цака за измъквне на вътрешна информация от Тайванския дъно-производителен картел. Така че си струва да се обърне внимание когато заявяват , че имат последния график за пускане на пазара на Intel-ски процесори. Като за начало е едно трио от лаптоп-базирани Clarksfield процесори -2GHz Core 2 Extreme XE , 1.73GHz Core 2 Quad P2 , и  1.6GHz Core 2 Quad P1 – готови да направят свой дебют по някое време към края на септември или октомври. Тези процесори трябва да носят името Core i7 , за да държат нещата колкото се може по-прости и ще бъдат подходящи за Q4 (четвърто тримесечие от т.г.) освежаване за MacBook Pro или Dell XPS лаптопи , като например. В края на графика (според “слуха”) е двойка Celeron – SU2300 и  743 процесори за ултра-тънки преносими компютри с очаквано анонсиране за около края на септември. Intel също така дават знак за планове за десктоп-базираните Lynnfield процесори и P55 чипсети да бъдат анонсирани между  8-ми и 11-ти септември. Първия анонс е плануван за началото на август – ако Intel започнат да суетничат около техните нови Xeon процесори за сървъри през това време , тогава ще имаме доста добра идея за валидността на казаното от DigiTimes.

Diferente daquilo que tem sido anunciado previamente, da Computex agora nos chegam informações radicalmente opostas. Segundo alguns fabricantes de placas mãe, os substitutos do Core i7 920 e 940 não vão atingir as velocidades destes processadores, mas sim superá-las.

Enquanto que os Nehalem atualmente a venda tem “problemas” para atingir os 5GHz, fontes de Taiwan confirmaram que os Lynnfield conseguirão atingir esta marca com “pouco esforço”.

Se esta é uma estratégia para vender mais placas novas com uma performance pouco consistente ou se isso é o resultado de um bom rendimento das Fabs da Intel, nós só vamos descobrir um pouco mais tarde. No entanto, ficou claro que é preciso colocar entre parênteses as afirmações que foram feitas até o momento, pois essa pode ter sido uma estratégia da Intel para evitar que as pessoas ficassem esperando o novo produto em detrimento do que já está disponível (e por um preço mais salgado).

Oh, brother — again already? Just days after we heard that Intel was delayed its long awaiting Itanium chip to better its performance before shipping, in flies word that the chip maker is delaying yet another processor, and this one’s arguably even more significant. Needless to say, Intel’s Core i7 has been a huge hit with gamers and multimedia lovers alike, and it has no doubt generated millions for the company.

Now, the processor’s lower-end brother, which was on track to debut this July, will reportedly slip to early September. Indeed, we were even hearing about the Core i5 (codenamed Lynnfield) during CeBIT in March, but evidently things haven’t gone quite as planned in Intel’s laboratories. The news comes from undisclosed “sources at motherboard makers,” which we tend to believe. Gigabyte was already showing off a Core i5 motherboard a few months ago, leading us to believe that the CPU was already dangerously close to market-ready.

So, why the wait? Naturally, the ailing economy is being blamed, with reports suggesting that Intel is simply pushing the Core i5 back in order to get more of its current inventory off of the shelf. Problem is, that’s less likely to happen now that we know something better is just around the bend. As of now, we’re expecting Core i5s to launch in 2.93GHz, 2.8GHz and 2.66GHz models, which will initially be priced at $562, $284 and $196 in 1000-unit quantities, respectively. If all goes well, they’ll be available in the retail channel in early August, with suitable mainboards appearing even sooner. So, what are the chances these get pushed back yet again?
