Dimanche 22 Novembre 2009 avait lieu à Quelneuc une partie d’airsoft (loisir semblable au paintball).  La journée avait pour thème le post-apocalyptique.

Afin de plonger les joueurs dans cet univers, j’ai réalisé divers éléments :

- Un livret leur rappelant les règles de jeu et les différents aspects de la journée.

- Divers objets utilisés pour le jeu (râtelier, stimpaks…)

- Un décors de BAR style post-apocalyptique.

- Des retouches sur les photos de la journée.

“it’s a great starting gun”
For those people who are reading this, dont look at the reviews that are bad.

Anyone who says it’s for their kid, their kid obviously didn’t take good care of their gun. the gun is stable, and can take a beating. It’s a good range, what can you expect. it’s good for target practice. the scope is nice, can be upgraded for a better red dot scope, but this one is great for day to day stuff. Some people get a bad gun, but they should return it rather than cry about it here. they were probably abusive with their gun.

All i can say to the people that are crying about their gun is CRY MORE!

I bought the gun and I was SO exctited when it got here. I opened it and the thing looked frickin real. The flashlight made it look mega cool. It also kind of fast. I know that the other reviews say that the scope sucks but if you take of the back sight thing you can see through the scope good (but its not that accurate). Oh, and also the other reviews say its great for begginers thats TRUE.one downside is that it does not hurt at all I held it to my friends chest and shot out a full clip and he didnt feel it!Over all its a great gun if you don’t have much money like me… it has the power of a little bit better than a mini electric thing. Oh and buy EXTRA MAGS it uses up a mag really fast.

I WOULD ONLY RATE THIS GUN3 OR 4 STARS IT WONT LET ME CHANGE IT!!!:(

“Good Entry Level Gun”
This gun is very good! It shoots at a decent speed and it is very accurate for a certain distance until it starts to curve(I don’t know the distance, but I would say at least as long as the average backyard, if not more). This gun should be wonderful for backyard wars(haven’t got to battle with it yet). I thought I would need a more powerful gun, but I realized that nobody would want to play with me if I kept shooting them with a really powerful gun at short distances. The hop up works extremely well. I can aim the gun down (no more than an angle of 45 degrees) and the BB’s still curve up enough so it doesn’t hit the ground(because of the hop up). The only thing I don’t like about the gun is that the barrels are made of cheap plastic and can break off the gun easily. When my friend was playing with it, he accidentally hit me with the barrel and it snapped off. I fixed it with superglue and heavy duty tape though. The seller, Airsoft Central, is awesome and I give them a 5 out of 5! Overall, this gun is probably the best gun you could get for the price for backyard wars. It is defiantly my gun of choice(for backyard wars of course ]!

Open opinion solicitation (that means give me some damn feedback).

I’m thinking of doing some trade-ins on my boom-stick stockage.  Two very different guns have caught my eye in the past week.  As far as rifles go they are about as far apart as you can get.  A true battle of East vs. West if you may.  The two contenders for my money are currently:

Representing the law and order side of the West – The Daniel Defense M4 (.223/5.56)

 Representing chaos and mayhem of the East - The Century Arms GP 1975 (7.62×39)

As I said, it’s a conundrum.  Both have pluses and minuses.  Cost differential is about $200 in favor of the GP1975, but that’s within my cost margin so I consider that a wash.  I’m interested in any Freak input on these fine pieces of machinery.  No matter what the final decision is, I see my ammo expenditure costs skyrocketing in the near future……

La linea 4 avrà 21 stazioni su una linea lunga 15,2 chilometri. Ok al­lo stanziamento dei finan­ziamenti per Tangenziale esterna, Pedemontana e linee 4 e 5 del metrò.

MILANO – Una talpa sotto Linate: lo sca­vo della linea 4 del metrò parti­rà dall’aeroporto e, nella miglio­re delle ipotesi, i cantieri apri­ranno nella primavera 2010. Il secondo lotto della M5, invece, dovrebbe prendere forma già entro l’anno con espropri e ope­re preliminari. Il pre-Cipe di ie­ri ha approvato i due progetti e il Cipe di oggi dovrebbe confer­mare i fondi: il governo finan­zia il pacchetto di opere Expo con 5,8 miliardi di euro (di cui 1,2 miliardi per i metrò). Nel­l’elenco figurano anche Pede­montana (via a gennaio), Tem, il collegamento Lecco-Berga­mo e il metrò di Brescia.

Eliminata la M6, Milano avrà due nuove linee sotterranee en­tro il 2015. I cantieri del primo tratto M5, nove fermate da Gari­baldi a Bignami, sono già in fa­se avanzata. Ieri, il pre-Cipe ha promosso anche il secondo troncone, dal cimitero Monu­mentale allo stadio di San Siro: 6,7 chilometri e 10 stazioni per un investimento di 657 milioni (il 40 per cento dei fondi dallo Stato, il resto dagli enti locali).

La linea 4 avrà 21 stazioni su 15,2 chilometri di tracciato. La prima tratta, da San Cristoforo al Policlinico (13 fermate, 7 chi­lometri: 790 milioni) colleghe­rà il sud-ovest al centro con 13 stazioni. I am still waiting for Fall weather to arrive. Aside from a few seasonal days the weather has mostly been in the 70’s during the day. The leaves have started to turn a little but it will be a while before Fall arrives in her full glory. I bought some pumpkins and gourds to decorate the front porch and am waiting for Halloween. One good think about Halloween is that there are a lot of horror movies on TV.

I have been back to the range to shoot my M4 carbine and my red dot sight is acting weird. I am unable to zero it properly and I think it may be broken. I took it off and using only the iron sights I shot the best groupings I have ever shot. I guess there must have been a reason I was an expert marksman in the Army. Anyway, I had ordered a NcStar 3×9 40 tactical scope with built-in laser and it arrived yesterday. I have mounted it on my M4 and cannot wait to try it out.

In other news, our new pastor seems to be doing very well. We were very fortunate to have found him. I hope he will be the foundation upon which our church will start to grow. I managed to hurt my back by doing absolutely nothing and it has taken the better part of a week for it to get better. Everything seems to take longer to heal when you are older.

I got my flu shot a week or so ago but I do not plan on getting an H1N1 shot. The swine flu seems to hit younger people harder and the nurse who gave my my normal flu shot said people who lived in the 70’s may have a partial immunity. Since there is also a shortage of the vaccine I will let others who are more needy receive theirs first.

I’ve read reports that there have been several “failures” of the M4 Carbine in combat situations recently. This doesn’t really surprise me. Why it doesn’t surprise me, is because it’s been happening for decades. What has also been happening for decades, is folks in the Pentagon claiming it isn’t true, or countering with “propaganda” about “properly maintained” M4’s not jamming under normal operating conditions.

My belief for why the M4 fails, faults two sets of people. The Pentagon, for knowing there is a problem and not correcting it. And the troops, for knowing you have to clean that gun “properly”, and not cleaning it properly. Yes, I know it’s time-consuming, and a pain in the ass, but the M4 is not a forgiving weapon. It has to be kept “just so”. This is a fact. The M4 isn’t a Kalashnikov. Or an H&K. Or an SKS. Or any of a dozen battle-proven firearms from the past 100 or so years. No, the M4 is “special”. It costs a lot. It has cool modular barrel shrouds and accessories. It looks “sexy”. Be nice if it worked as good as it looked.

Here’s my take. The M4 Carbine would be a fine weapon, at times of peace, when everyone’s got hours and days of loiter time to fidget with proper cleaning practices. It would be a fine weapon, if it were in the hands of the “super gun nut”, who enjoys breaking down and cleaning his rifle long hours into the night, blindfolded, for fun. But, most people are not that guy. Most soldiers, I’ll argue, are also not that guy (or girl).

Match the gun to the soldier. If most of your soldiers either don’t have the drive, or the time, to maintain your weapon the way it needs to be, then get them something else. I’ve read that some branches of our armed services have budgets to secure their own gear. Some of these branches and units are replacing the M4 with other guns. So, does this mean the “special” M4 isn’t special enough for the special forces? Probably. The real question is, when is the Pentagon going to realize and admit what experts already have? That conditionally special isn’t really all that special.

Now, my words may draw contempt by M4 lovers out there. To those, let me say this. I’m not saying the M4 Carbine is a bad gun. It’s quite good, but you do have to treat it a certain way for it to be that good. We, as humans, are creatures of habit. Eventually, sloppy habits are bound to come back to the surface. For the meticulous, the M4 works as well as any other weapon ever made, probably. But, for those of us who want the gun to work even when we forget to clean it, the M4 is not our first choice. Probably not our second, either.

I’m convinced there’s another variable in the Pentagon’s eagerness to defend the M4 weapons platform as viable. For one, we can sell it to other nations. See, once upon a time, a nation conducted trials, tests, and chose the best weapon for their military. But these days they can market anything from uniforms, to armored vehicles, to firearms.

“This is the same gun used by the U.S. armed forces, and we’re prepared to sell it to you at a significant discount, because we like you.”

Why can’t our military use Kalashnikov-based rifles? They’re well-suited to variable environments, and they’ve been in battlefield use for far longer. They’re also known to still function even if you leave them crated up underwater over time.

It’s been a bit of a lazy day today.  Awake at 3am to watch the final practice for the Japanese Grand Prix and then again at 5am to watch the Qualifying session.  Managed to sleep through them both and missed what seemed like an incredible car breaking session. 

Ah well, watched the replay and updated the Force India Site, saw an episode of Scrubs which I can’t never pass on and then went for my now daily constitutional.

The weather down here today has been abysmal.  Wet and windy (usually me after a curry)! but despite dying of the lurgy, I went for a walk.  I know that the distance isn’t much but the effort is huge. 

I was going to take the DSLR with me but because it was hammering down I decided to take my Fuji Finepix Z100.  Of course, I hadn’t charged the battery up so by the time I’d taken a couple of shots, there wasn’t enough power to focus the lens so the last few shots came out blurred.  

Leaving the house, I turned left and walked up Heol Hir.  At the top of the road, it crosses over the M4.  They’ve been working up there for ages on widening the motorway to three lanes each way but still no extra exit. 

It would be so handy to have a turn off the motorway at the top of the road but the planners in their infinate wisdom still require me to drive for four miles east or west just to get onto the damn thing.

Anyway, I digress.  Turn right at the top of Heol Hir and walk down towards Lisvane and a roundabout which will take you back down Excalibur Drive.  However if you turn left at the roundabout, you’ll find Cefn-Onn Park.

I’ve lived in the area for 15 years or so and this is only the second visit I’ve made here.  It’s fantastic and so close to the M4 but incredibly quiet.  There’s the odd rumble as the Cardiff to Rhymney railway line runs along side the park but otherwise you’d never know it.

Plenty of little pathways to explore through the park and given the number of dog walkers it’s very clean and there are plenty of bins for the not so nice stuff.

There was an intriguing sign, pointing the way to the Rhymney Valley Ridge walk so I think a bit more investigation is required.  Anyway that’s day three.  Just a quiet walk tomorrow I think.

I somehow managed to get live SkySports on my mobile yesterday. The capacity to watch actual sport on your phone is the greatest technological advance since the videprinter. It’s a revelation.

The picture is obviously rubbish and the commentary feeds through about a second before the image – my physics teacher told me that light travelled quicker than sound but anyway – and after about 15 minutes the massive absurdity of it overwhelms the little handset and it gives up the ghost. But I as I whizzed down the M4 last evening I could still ascertain  that England were in the process of booting out the South Africans from their own tiny tournament. I hasten to add that I was in the passenger seat, there are rules about driving while watching ODI cricket.

It was all a bit much for me. I felt like Marty McFly in Back To The Future 2 and that bit when the giant holographic shark comes out from the cinema to chomp him. TV phones and a classy performance from an England one-day team. I just undid my seatbelt and rolled out onto the hard shoulder outside Reading Services.
