No, Lamborghini isn’t about to buy the British Noble. But after revealing the M600 Noble seems to step into Lamboghini shoes.

After few years of silence Noble finally reveals it’s new car – the M600. Not only looks but the power under the bonnet is stunning – 650bhp from 4.4-litre V8 Volvo sourced engine. A true hypercar in it’s own category. Massive power will bring you from 0 to 100km/h in just 3 seconds. Well, thats what Noble claims.

But even it’s a mix of carbon fibre and steel, Noble steps into hypercars category – it will cost around £200,000. If you’re a true petrol head and fancy a new hypercar – Noble made the decision a bit harder. Built to compete the Ferrari’s and Lamborghini’s Noble may be the new choise.

Noble….I think not. It’ll misuse , abuse, and cruise you to a 225 mph top speed. Noble isn’t done, 3 seconds flat and when it finally is finished you’ll  feel so mistreated you’ll go back because for some reason you think it loves you…. wait, are we still talking about the car?

Regarding UIQ going bankrupt

I remember having both the P800 and P900 before giving up on UIQ and got a V600i and surprisingly it was a joy. I tried UIQ again with the M600 and actually GAVE it away after a few months because I could not stand UIQ. What surprised me the most was that they didn’t get further in making UIQ really usable after like 8 years of development. Didn’t they have any heavy mobile users as testers? But anyway, sad to see the company go down. And the P800 was really cool at the time.

Det är fortfarande lite finputsning kvar på temat innan det är helt klart, men det är redan nu användbart. Hittils har jag lagt ner ca 6 timmar på det.

I always thought, Who would use Accelerators on a mobile phone?

For instance, In Windows Mobile, if you want to copy and paste text, you would most likely do from context menu [select the text, tap and hold]. But if you want to use Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V as you do in desktop, you CAN do that by invoking keyboard, select ctrl, then select c, the text is copied and then select ctrl, select v, the text is pasted.

Well, this is clearly not friendly for many. And you might even wonder why would anyone go with all that trouble.

Imagine you have a dialog asking “Are you sure you want to do blah blah?” and present you with two of the hardest choices “Yes” and “No”. How convenient would it be to select the key ‘y’ to Yes and ‘n’ to No. Especially when you have a keyboard its easier to reach for the keys instead of picking out the stylus and tapping the buttons.

Well, normally i am not this much hooked to keyboard usage. But recently my m600 survive the fall from 3 floors though it looks like:

The touch screen is totally unusable. The screen is crushed. The only reason the broken glass pieces sticking together is because of the screenprotector i used. Ohhh.. Is that why they call it so? But the amazing thing is the call works flawlessly. I can type the numbers as usual but instead of softkey “Call” i press the jog dial on left and the default action (Call) gets executed.

Pretty basic operations are still doable. Like Launching the Messaging application and starting an SMS and after typing the message, press Jog-dial sends the SMS

I can even navigate the lists (SMS, Call History) and press backspace key to delete

But the delete operation always should ask a question. “Do you really want to delete?”

Heres where my crazy need for keyboard access comes. Ofcourse, when being asked these questions, i can press ‘y’ or ‘n’ for Yes and No. This is so great!!!

But when a java midlet needs to access internet, it poses a question whether the application can be allowed to connect internet. Here i cannot use any key to confirm the action. Jog-dial press always acts like pressing the middle softkey. And middlesoft key is not always the default action to go to next step with positive response.

It would be so much easier if there is an accelerator available for every option in every question. I know i know, this is pure greed. But i am just thinking for lazy hands and ones with broken display.

So another option i have is AT Commands.

I can connect either via USB or IrDA and simulate keypresses through at commands.

And for some operations like setting volume or muting i use direct AT commands.

Heres what my mostly used commands:

AT+CKPD = 91 (Pressing left soft key)

AT+CKPD=93 (Pressing right soft key)

AT*SEVOL (Volume control)

AT*SESP (Enable/Disable Speaker mode)

AT+CRSL (Ringer volume Level)

Berikut ini tutorial / howto instalasi Windows-XP

di NoteBook Toshiba Portege M600 :

1. Terlebih dahulu anda nyalakan notebook anda yang sebelumnya menggunakan Windows Vista Home Premium.
2. Download file nLite. atau nlite,
3. Aplikasi nLite ini membutuhkan Net Framework 2.0, jika pada notebook anda belum terinstal maka anda bisa download diSini.
4. Download file driver AHCI (iata78_enu.exe).
5. Install file “iata78_enu.exe -a” disini option -a hanya akan meng-extract driver AHCI ke direktori C:\Program Files\Intel\Intel Matrix Storage Manager\Driver\
6. Buatlah Folder baru dengan nama WIN-XP.
7. Terlebih dahulu anda copy Instaler windows-XP pada Folder WIN-XP.
8. Jalankan nLite.
9. Pilih Integrate Drivers dan Create Bootable ISO.
10. Pada tampilan Integrate Drivers, Pilih Insert -> Multiple Driver Folder arahkan pada folder C:\Program Files\Intel\Intel Matrix Storage Manager\Driver\
11. Pada tampilan selanjutnya, click All akan ditampilkan list Driver AHCI/RAID. Pastikan mode yang dipilih adalah Textmode Driver.
12. Pilih Toshiba Portege M600 menggunakan AHCI Controller Intel(R) 82801HEM/HBM SATA AHCI Controller (Mobile ICH8M-E/M). Atau add semuanya jadi bisa digunakan untuk notebook lain yang menggunakan chipset yang lain juga.
13. Kemudian pilih Direct Burn untuk melakukan proses Burning Installer yang telah dimodifikasi kedalam CD kosong, atau pilih Create Image untuk menyimpan installernya kedalam format ISO.
14. Selanjutnya instalasi windows-XP seperti biasa.
15. Sebagian driver bawaan Portege M600 hanya dapat digunakan di Microsoft Windows Vista. Jadi, beberapa tidak bisa digunakan di Windows XP. Driver-driver Portege M600 untuk Windows XP, dapat didownload diSini.

Pernah mengalami BIOS anda terproteksi dan anda lupa password-nya? Atau, laptop Portege M600 anda setelah anda nyalakan, kemudian meminta autentikasi sidik jari (fingerprint), tetapi selalu gagal setiap anda mencoba autentikasi dan akhirnya laptop tidak bisa masuk ke sistem operasi?

Ane punya tips bagaimana mencoba reset password BIOS/clear fingerprint key anda. Tetapi sebelum anda mengikuti langkah-langkah dari saya, pastikan anda sudah mengetahui resiko yang bisa terjadi pada laptop anda, seperti kehilangan jaminan garansi dan resiko lainnya.

Jika laptop anda masih dalam masa garansi toko tempat anda membeli laptop, sebaiknya klaim garansi untuk memperbaiki masalah laptop anda, karena pada tips yang ane berikan, kita perlu membuka panel penutup bagian bawah laptop anda yang dimana pada bagian panel tersebut biasanya terletak segel garansi dari toko anda membeli, jika segel rusak maka garansi tidak akan berlaku lagi. Sebaiknya stop saja niat anda jika anda ragu.

OK…bagi yang sudah mengerti poin diatas, berarti sudah tidak ada masalah lagi bagi anda soal garansi, dan akan saya lanjutkan langkah-langkahnya.

1. Matikan laptop dan cabut baterai laptop terlebih dahulu, gunakan obeng untuk membuka sekrup pengunci cover.
   
2. Setelah cover terbuka, kemudian tarik secara perlahan kabel berwarna merah-hitam yang melilit (lihat gambar dibawah), yang merupakan kabel penghubung baterai CMOS ke board laptop.
   
3. Berhubung konektor baterai CMOS sangat susah untuk dicabut (karena posisi yang berada di dalam board laptop, maka kita mengakali menggunakan pushpin.
   Sediakan 2 buah pushpin (pin tekan yang biasa untuk menempelkan kertas di papan pengumuman), kemudian selipkan masing-masing pushpin pada bagian negatif dan positip baterai CMOS yang terbungkus plastik (berwarna hijau).
   
   
4. Ambil sedikit kabel biasa (kabel serabut) dan hubungkan bagian jarum pushpin negatip ke jarum pushpin positip selama beberapa menit, sehingga terjadi short (korsleting) yang dampaknya akan me-reset konfigurasi BIOS/fingerprint.
5. Dan terakhir, cabut masing-masing pushpin dan kembalikan baterai CMOS ke posisi awal, dan tutup cover secara perlahan dan rapi, kemudian pasang baterai utama laptop. Coba nyalakan kembali laptop anda.
