While still not appearing on the NetWorker compatibility lists, it would certainly appear from testing that NetWorker 7.6 plays a whole lot nicer with Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) better than its predecessors did.

Previously when Snow Leopard came out, I posted that NetWorker 7.5 was able to work with it, but did qualify that if you were backing up laptops or other hosts that periodically changed location, NetWorker would get itself into a sufficient knot that it would become necessary to reinstall and/or reboot in order to get a successful backup. (In actual fact, it was rare that a reboot would be sufficient.) Fixed-point machines – e.g., servers and desktops – typically did not experience this problem.

It would seem that 7.6 handles location changes considerably better.

If you’re experiencing intermittent problems with NetWorker 7.5 not wanting to work properly on Mac OS X 10.6 hosts, I’d suggest upgrading to NetWorker 7.6 as a test to see whether that resolves your problems.

The usual qualifiers remain – read the release notes before doing an upgrade.

Gracias a Miguel sabemos ahora que al presionar Alt (option) + Shift + los controles de volumen (F11 y F12) se dividen los “cuadritos” del sonido en 4, dando una división más exacta en el volumen.

Para los que no les gusta el curioso sonido del volumen de las Macs pondré los pasos para desactivarlo.

3.Reproducir sonido cuando el volumen cambia (lo siento por la traducción pero verifiquen con la imagen).

기본 상태에서 Imagemagick 설치 실패.

Imagemagick 폴더 내에 있는  install-mac.txt  안내대로 fink를 설치하고,

fink install libjpeg 가 안되어서 별도로 libjpeg를 설정하고,

export도 몇가지 설정하고 configure 설정도 추가했으나,

역시 make 단계에서 실패.

그래서 fink selfupgrade 후 fink install libjpeg 실행하니 성공. 후에 이것이 주요했으라 생각됨.

다시,  기본 상태에서 ./configure   make   make install 실행 성공.

sudo convert -version 잘됨.

mac os x 가 아직 linux 처럼 범용적으로 쓰기에는 설치시에 넘어야 할 산들이 많다.

더군다나, 최근에 발표된 64bit 기반의 snow leopard 의 경우에는 더더욱 혼란을 가중시킨다.

지난번 oracle 10g 설치를 포기했던것 처럼….

ㅎㅎㅎ 그러나 berkeley db xml은 성공적이었다.

I had a bad experience on the phone last weekend with a new Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Apple store called MacAuthority. I shared my experience with several folks personally and online. One of my friends knows some of the people associated with the store and encouraged me to pay them a visit.

The short version? The store is awesome. I talked with their key staff about my experience on the phone and they assured me that was not the norm. We talked for quite a while and they demonstrated not only a deep knowledge of Apple and its products based on years of experience, but a strong desire to support their customers in Chattanooga.

Going to MacAuthority is a lot like visiting an “official” Apple Store with the laid back feel of a store with deep Southern roots. They have three locations in the Southeast in Nashville, Tenn., Atlanta, Ga., and now in Chattanooga. I highly recommend them.

I don’t have to drive to Atlanta any more and I can truly be happy about that because I know the service just up the road in Chattanooga is going to be outstanding!

By the way, I’m writing this post with the assistance of a new Magic Mouse, which I also recommend. I’ve never spent much on a supplemental mouse; I’ve always stuck with what came with the computer or bought a third party mouse for $20 or less. Loving it!

Microsoft wants Silverlight to be optimized for every platform that it runs on, said Brian Goldfarb, director of developer and user experience platforms at Microsoft, during an interview at the company’s Professional Developers Conference (PDC) on Wednesday (Nov. 18).

Silverlight runs on Mac OS X and Windows; it is available on Linux through Mono Moonlight, an open source project that Microsoft supports. I also expect that Moonlight will be running on Android in near future. Goldfarb explained that it was not enough for Silverlight to “run everywhere,” but that it should “light up” specific platforms.

Microsoft needs to consider screen size and other aspects of a device, which is particularly relevant in the mobile space, he explained. There are also mobile platform features such as SMS, phone dialing, and address books that Silverlight could exploit, he added. That would allow Silverlight applications to be customized for smartphones.

Silverlight 4, which Microsoft announced at PDC, will allow applications to access Windows features, hardware, and the local file system. That allows devices such as Webcams to accessed by Silverlight. However, the same level of optimization is not currently being offering for other platforms.

Microsoft will give Silverlight “trusted” access local resources on Macs, meaning that all features work except for COM integration, Goldfarb said. More work is needed to extend Silverlight for non-Windows platforms, Goldfarb admitted, saying that the company was “thinking around” the concept of extensions.

COM is a Windows technology that enables applications that may have been written in different languages to communicate with each other. Microsoft Office makes heavy use of COM. “We are actively evaluating the best way to get COM like features on other platforms,” Goldfarb wrote in a follow up e-mail.

To that end, the company has started an open source project called Managed Extensibility Framework for .NET and Silverlight. The Mono team is working on an equivalent project, Goldfarb said. He expects that Mono will “accelerate dramatically” in the near future, delivering more features to Linux users.

I expect that anything but Windows will be a second-class Silverlight citizen for some time. But Microsoft is making strides toward delivering an optimized experience on other platforms, and in doing so, will gain a foothold on the Web beyond Windows.

Windows7であっさりBluetoothが使えてしまったのでメモ。

Windows XPでBluetoothを使おうとすると、BlueSoleilのような別途ソフトが必要でしたが、Windows7では一切不要。追加出費がいらないし、Windows7の環境が汚れないのが実に素晴らしいです。

さて、肝心のWindows7でのBluetoothの使い方ですが、単に、BluetoothのドングルをPCのUSBポートに挿すだけ。あとは、Windows7が勝手にドライバをインストールしてくれます。

やり方は以下が参考になります。

自分が持っているBluetoothのドングルは、PLANEX Bluetooth Ver2.0+EDR対応 Microサイズ USBアダプタ (Class1/100m) BT-MicroEDR1。

一年ほど前に買ったものなのでちょっと古い製品ですが、全く問題なく使えました。

まずは、Windows7 Ultimate 32bitインストール済みのThinkPad T42に上記のドングルを挿入します。すると、以下のようにWindows7が自動的にドライバをインストールしてくれます。

Windows7ではMicrosoftがBluetoothのプロトコルスタックを用意してくれているんですね。

YAMAHAのNX-B02というBluetoothスピーカを認識させてみます。Windows7はデフォルトでドライバを持っていないので、途中、Windows Update経由でドライバを検索するように支持すると、自動的にドライバをインストールしてくれました。

悔しいですが、MacBook 2008 Lateで再生するより音質が素晴らしい。高周波ノイズも気にならないレベルだし、接続が切れにくい。

お次は、Mac OS X Snow LeopardとのBluetooth経由でのファイルの送受信。

システム環境設定→共有→Bluetooth 共有、の設定で入りにチェックを入れて、MacBookを再起動するだけ。（なぜか再起動しないとファイルの送受信ができるようになりませんでした）

Proviamo a fare i seri per qualche riga.

Mettere in sicurezza il proprio computer significa mettere in atto una serie di procedure che impediscano l’accesso fisico o remoto al nostro sistema e quindi ai dati in esso contenuti ed è un processo che viene spesso indicato con il termine hardening. Il discorso può essere anche esteso alla navigazione internet, alle mail che inviamo o le conversazioni che scambiamo in chat.

Per tanti anni ho ritenuto le procedure di hardening pressoché ridicole quando applicate al di fuori di un contesto aziendale, senza contare la scomodità gestionale che queste comportano. Ad esempio ci potremmo trovare con diverse password complesse da ricordare o impossibilitati ad effettuare backup incrementali (Time Machine) su block device criptati.

Insomma, un bel piede nel culo, direi.

Che poi al massimo avremo da proteggere il curriculum, qualche porno e le foto zozze della ragazza di un amico. Perché darsi tanta pena?

Perché siamo paranoici, ecco perché!

Ne approfitto quindi per raccontarvi una storiella breve e poco interessante (che potete tranquillamente saltare a piè pari) sperando che vi illumini sul perché mi accingo a scrivere una serie di articoli per gente paranoica.

Una storiella inutile.

Tanto tempo fa, in una terra lontana lontana mi ritrovavo a chattare sul lavoro come tutti i giorni se nonché, di punto in bianco, il mio account AIM/Mobileme mi notificò l’avvenuto login del mio profilo da un’altra postazione. Poiché ho sempre una o due Virtual Machine accese e tanti programmi in esecuzione da non riuscire a tenerli tutti sotto controllo (e soprattutto perché della sicurezza me ne sono sempre battuto il cazzo) ho confermato la mia attuale posizione come quella loggata su Adium e pace. Non è passato molto prima che il warning si ripresentasse. Per non saper né leggere né scrivere, confidente nella sicurezza della mia password complessa (qualcosa tipo !RRTolkien01$ :\ ) ho subito scartato l’ipotesi che qualcuno potesse davvero star accedendo al mio profilo mobileme ed ho fatto come i veterani di Windows: ho riavviato :|

Inutile dire che, come la sabbia per gli struzzi, questo non ha risolto il problema. Pur con riluttanza, dopo un’intera giornata passata a confermare la postazione da cui ero loggato, ho deciso di cambiare la password e il problema si è magicamente risolto.

Pochi giorni dopo ricevo una notifica da Google che mi informava di alcune attività sospette avvenute sul mio account GMail e mi consigliava di cambiare la password di accesso, cosa che questa volta ho fatto immediatamente. La mail inviata da Google è una messaggio automatico spesso legato alla rilevazione di accessi multipli sul proprio account causati da possibili malware presenti sulla propria macchina, la cosa strana è che mi sia stata recapitata a pochi giorni di distanza dalla precedente esperienza, ma soprattutto dubito che – usando soltanto il mac – la cosa possa essere stata causata da un virus. Mi sono quindi limitato a modificare tutte le mie password ed ho archiviato il caso.

Qualche mese dopo mi sono ritrovato a studiare i certificati nel corso della preparazione all’esame Red Hat Certified Engineer, argomento che mi ha alquanto esaltato per nerderia e mi ha fatto riflettere su alcune questioni.

Alcuni motivi per cui occuparsi di sicurezza.

Anche se tutti abbiamo in tasca una carta d’identità sgualcita e poco utilizzata, quella è sempre la nostra carta di identità. Quello è il documento che ci permette di testimoniare che siamo realmente noi, senza ombra di dubbio. Cosa poco utile quando ti vogliono arrestare, lo so. Allo stesso modo a nessun fa piacere vedersi rubare lo zaino anche se dentro non ci sono soldi, ma le nostre poesie da persone sensibili, oppure vedersi sottratto il cellulare sapendo che chiunque potrà leggere i messaggi zozzi tra noi e la nostra ragazza e magari poterla pure chiamare di notte. Ecco perché lo proteggiamo con un PIN, oltre a voler impedire alla nostra ragazza di leggere i messaggi che inviamo alla sua amica. Non ci piace neppure l’idea che altri possano ascoltare la confidenza fatta ad un amico anche se poi, di solito, è l’amico al quale ci siamo confidati che lo va a raccontare a tutto il mondo. E vi farebbe piacere sapere che tutti possono controllare dove siete in qualunque momento? A me non darebbe fastidio. E se invece queste informazioni venissero utilizzate per bombardarvi di pubblicità mirata? Questo invece mi farebbe incazzare.

Il computer, la navigazione in internet, le mail che inviamo e riceviamo, la chat, sono trasposizioni informatiche della nostra vita reale (come se ci fosse bisogno di dirlo), ma la maggior parte delle persone tende a sottovalutare il problema anche perché è difficile avvertirlo. Nessuno fa più caso agli ads di Google, tanto per fare un esempio, ma le pubblicità che ci vengono proposte sono basate sulle nostre ricerche in internet e sulle mail che abbiamo ricevuto.
Quando portate in assistenza il vostro computer, potete star certi che il tecnico prima ancora di risolvervi il problema scandaglierà il vostro hard disk alla ricerca di immagini e video e non siate così ingenui da credere che farne un backup e cestinarli prima di portarglielo sia davvero sufficiente.

Altro scenario che mi inquieta:
Chi non è mai incappato “per sbaglio” in qualche foto di jailbait dall’aria non esattamente maggiorenne? Cosa pensate che accadrebbe se attorno a voi avenisse un crimine e i carabinieri vi sequestrassero il portatile per un controllo? Le foto di quelle ragazze fotografate col cellulare in bagno, semi nude e con fare smaliziato diventerebbero subito “materiale pedo pornografico”.

E poi perché dovrei rendere la vita facile a quel bastardo che mi ha rubato il laptop permettendogli di poterlo formattare e rivendere?

Mi sembrano tutte buone ragioni per farsi furbi, smettere di sentirci al sicuro dietro una mono-password per quanto indecifrabile crediamo che sia, e fare un po’ di hardening della nostra macchina anche se sopra non ci sono i dati di bilancio della nostra azienda. Motivo in più, invece, se quei documenti ce li avete davvero!

enthält. das interessante daran, dass auf 10.7 schließen lässt: snow leopard hatte die interne entwicklernumer 10, leopard 9, usw. . A steht für ein frühes alpha oder beta release. updates würden mit dem buchstaben B bezeichnet werden.

da bis zur offiziellen präsentation seitens apple keine informationen oder hinweise freigegeben werden sind alle hier angesammelten informationen bestenfalls gerüchte. ich selbst schenke den wenigsten hier meinen glauben, aber um den überblick zu bewahren, hier eine kleine zusammenstellung der aktuellen vermutungen (oder wünsche) einschlägiger seiten:

1) cloud computing: os x 10.7 soll ein cloud computing system werden

2) mehr features: da mit snow leopard mehr unter der haube gearbeitet wurde sollen in 10.7 wieder einige neuerungen einzug finden.

3) coverflow dock: erweiterung für das unter 10.5 eingeführte 3d dock

4) 128 bit unterstützung

5) touch sensitivity: für ein eventuelles apple tablet

über den namen gibt es natürlich auch schon erste spekulationen. apple gehen ja bekanntlich die raubkatzen aus.

Hace un tiempo supimos que la versión 10.6.2 de Mac OS X anulaba por completo la compatibilidad de Snow Leopard con los procesadores Intel Atom, ya que Apple no contaba con equipos que usarán esta tecnología dentro de sus filas, por ende la compatibilidad del sistema con dicho hardware solo se prestaba para el Hackintosh. Incluso aquella noticia fue comentada en ChilenoMac, lo que pueden vereficar en la siguiente entrada. Pero me he enterado de que el ‘efecto Hackintosh‘ es más fuerte de lo que Apple pensaba y la actualización de su último sistema operativo no pudo destruirlo por completo, o al menos así parece; y es que un talentoso hacker ruso ha podido modificar el kernel de Mac OS X 10.6.2: es decir, el corazón del sistema operativo fue modificado por otro ‘truculento’ archivo para poder restablecer la compatibilidad del sistema con los pequeños procesadores Intel Atom. Maniobra que, por lo bajo, podemos calificar de compleja, ya que para hacerla funcionar se necesita un conocimiento acabado de la terminal del sistema.

Desconcemos por completo las medidas que tomará Apple en la próxima actualización de Snow Leopard, y ni siquiera sabemos si Apple se pronunciará sobre este hecho, pero de lo que sí tenemos total certeza es que, cuando creíamos que la vida del Hackintosh se apagaba, se nos demostró que no será tan fácil derrotarlos como parece, y que los usuarios de netboooks aún tienen mucho que decir sobre el tema. La guerra contra el Hackintosh ha sido larga y, a mi parecer, lo seguirá siendo por muchísimo tiempo más.

¿Cómo hacerlo? Bueno, descarguen el kernel modificado desde acá y guárdenlo en el escritorio, y abran la terminal para ejecutar el siguiente código (rogando que el Hackintosh no salga volando):

1. sudo -s (acá ponen su nombre de usuario sin paréntesis)
2. cd /
3. mv mach_kernel mach_kernel_1062
4. cp ~/Desktop/mach_kernel /
5. chown 0:0 mach_kernel

Luego reinician el sistema, y esperan… para ver si les funcionó. Espero que les sirva, y que puedan estar a la última con sus Hackintosh; como decía más arriba, la guerra ha sido larga, pero creo que el ‘efecto Hackintosh‘ le da más salud a Apple aunque a ellos no les haga mucha gracia.

این روزها در جوامع غربی این اتفاق افتاده است، یعنی هر کس به سلیقهٔ خود برنامه مورد علاقه خود را می بیند. یکی از تلویزیون های معروف نامش youtube است. در این سایت هر بیننده این قدرت را دارد که برنامهٔ مورد علاقه خود را در این سایت پیدا کند، آن را ببیند، نظر خود را به صورت تصویری، متنی یا حتی صوتی بدهد، حتی بیننده می تواند برای خود برنامه بسازد و دوستان و کسانی که علاقه به دیدن برنامه او دارند، آن را ببینند.

این کارها با رفتن به سایت یوتوب عملی می شود. اما اگر شما از آن دسته افرادی هستید که علاقه ای به رفتن در سایت را ندارید می توانید از نرم افزار هایی که برای دسکتاپ ساخته شده است استفاده کنید. این نرم افزار دارای دو مزیت هستند:

1. دیگر نیازی نیست شما از نرم افزار های غیر آزادی، همچون ادوبی فلش استفاده کنید.
2. با نرم افزار های دسکتاپ شما چیزهای اضافی همچون متن سایت، مرورگر و آن چیزی که نیاز نیست را نخواهید دید و این مانیتور را بیشتر شبیه تلویزیون خواهد کرد که برای کاربران محیطی دوستانه تر است.

یکی از نرم افزار های آزاد، minitube نام دارد که دارای مجوز GPLv3 است. در حال حاضر این نرم افزار برای سیستم عامل های گنو/لینوکس و Mac OS X وجود دارد، اما تلاش هایی جهت آماده کردن این نرم افزار برای سیستم عامل ویندوز هم صورت گرفته است.

طریقه نصب این نرم افزار در سیستم عامل اوبونتو 9.10 به طریق زیر است:

اضافه کردن PPA زیر به منابع نرم افزاری، که آن را در منوی System -> Administration -> Software Sources خواهید یافت.

Ein Lied der Prinzen, welches wahrscheinlich relativ gut zu Microsofts neuem Vorzeige-Betriebssystem “Windows 7″ passt, da dieses sich, nach Angabe des Microsoft Managers Simon Aldous in einem Interview mit dem amerikanischem B2B-Magazin “PCR”, an Apples Betriebssystem “Mac OS X” orientiert.
Wörtlich sagte er:

One of the things that people say an awful lot about the Apple Mac is that the OS is fantastic, that it’s very graphical and easy to use. What we’ve tried to do with Windows 7 – whether it’s traditional format or in a touch format – is create a Mac look and feel in terms of graphics.

AirMac Extreme のセキュリティを WEP から WPA2に変えて以降、iMac と Mac mini の AirMac がネットワークに自動接続しないようになり、困った状態が続いていました。

手動接続は面倒なので、この問題を解決しなければと情報を探していたところ「Mac OS X 10.4.8: AirMac が再起動後またはスリープ状態からの解除後に既存のネットワークに自動接続しない」がヒット。

この情報では、Mac OS X 10.4.8 をアップグレードした Intel Mac に起きる現象の解決方法ですが、私の iMac と Mac mini の PowerPC Mac にも対応してくれました。

Mac mini は Mac OS X Server 10.3.9なので、ちょっと応用がいりましたが。

明日からこの問題でのストレスから解放されます。
