Windows 7…. I’ll wait for now…

I called Dell support to find out if there was a discount on the Windows 7 Ultimate upgrade because during some online reading I was seeing where that it was mentioned if you had Vista Ultimate you could get the upgrade for a cheaper price.

I don’t think the sales rep fully understood what I was asking. Said name was Rachael but sounded like she was from Pakistan. Tried to sell me Windows Home Premium upgrade. Asked wasn’t that sort of a downgrade if you were already using Vista Ultimate? She couldn’t really answer.

She only seemed interested in selling me a new MacAfee security package. My current package is good through 6/2010 according to my computer. So….

I will just do some more research and read and watch what people are saying that have plunked down $$$$ to get it. It does suck that an upgrade would cost over $200.00.

Would see Microsoft would lower the cost of Vista to 7 upgrade costs.

But that’s Microsoft for you.

I really do not know if the worth the upgrade price of $220.00. I am not really gaining that much. I have Vista Ultimate. On the 64-Bit system it does pretty well. My only BITCH is I cannot run my old graphics software and Photoshop’s that worked under XP. Windows 7 has the virtual machine for XP but is that worth the $220.00 price tag?????

I will just wait and see what I will do. Let’s give it a few days and see how the system works and if there are major issues.

آشنايي با شركت‌هاي مهم توليدكننده ضدويروس

1- مكافي شركت توليد كننده نرم‌افزارهاي امنيتي است و دفتر مركزي آن در سانتا كلاراي كاليفرنيا واقع شده است.
2 – اين شركت توسط شخصي به نام جان مكافي در سال 1997 و با نام McAfee Associates بنيان گذاشته شد. حضرت آقا متولد 18 سپتامبر 1945 است و برنامه‌نويس مي‌باشد. وي جزو اولين تهيه‌كنندگان نرم‌افزارهاي ضدويروس به شمار مي‌رود.

3 – آقاي مكافي از سال 1968 تا 1970 به عنوان برنامه‌نويس، به استخدام ناسا درآمد. وي همچنين در Univac (به عنوان طراح نرم‌افزار)، شركت زيراكس (به عنوان معمار سيستم‌عامل)، شركت Computer Sciences Corporation (به عنوان مشاور نرم‌افزار)، شركت Lockheed و چند جاي ديگر كار كرده است. (آفرين به اين همه جنب و جوش!)

4 – ممكن است هنگامي كه در اينترنت درباره McAfee جست‌وجو مي‌كنيد، سر از جاهايي دربياوريد كه قدري برايتان غيرمنتظره باشد. تعجب نكنيد! McAfee علاوه بر اينكه نام شركت توليدكننده ضدويروس است – كه ما فعلاً داريم در مورد آن شفاف‌سازي مي‌كنيم ! – نام منطقه‌اي است در ايرلند شمالي و اسكاتلند. اين لغت در واقع انگليسي شده عبارت گي‌ليك Mac Dhuibhshíthe (به معناي پسر Duibhshíth) مي‌باشد.

5 – همچنين شخصيت‌هاي مشهوري وجود داشته كه فاميل آنها مكافي بوده است؛ مثل جرج مكافي (1918-2009) فوتباليست آمريكايي، والتر مكافي (1914-1995) دانشمند آمريكايي، فرد مكافي (متولد 1968) فوتباليست آمريكايي و چند نفر ديگر. فكر كنم بس است و گرنه بايد از حضور «مكافي» در همه علوم براي شما توضيح بدهم!
6 – ديويد ديوالت (David DeWalt) مديرعامل فعلي مكافي است.
7 – درآمد مكافي در سال 2008 برابر با 6/1 ميليارد دلار بوده است.
8 – ZenoBank.com تعداد كارمندان اين شركت را 5600 نفر اعلام كرده است.

9 – از جمله توليدات اين غول نرم‌افزاري مي‌توان به McAfee VirusScan (ضدويروس)، McAfee Personal Firewall Plus (ديواره آتش)، McAfee Wireless Home Network Security، IntruShield (برنامه پشتيباني از نرم‌افزار ضدجاسوسي در شبكه)، SiteAdvisor (ارائه هشدار در خصوص مخرب و آلوده بودن سايت‌ها)، SpamKiller (ضدهرزنامه) و McAfee Stinger (اسكنر ويروس) اشاره كرد.
10 – وب‌سايت رسمي اين شركت را هم كه لابد مي‌دانيد: www.mcafee.com. اين هم ايميل آنها: customer_service@mcafee.com 11 – سايت مكافي از 26 زبان پشتيباني مي‌كند.

12 – طبق معمول كلمه iran را در وب‌سايت مكافي سرچ كردم. 6 جواب به دست آمد كه يكي از آنها اين بود: محصولات مكافي – چه به طور مستقيم و چه به طور غيرمستقيم – به كوبا، ايران، كره شمالي، سودان و سوريه صادر نمي‌شود. چند جواب ديگر از اين شش مورد، چيزهايي در همين رابطه بود.
13 – در چهارم ژانويه 2006 كميسيون بورس و اوراق بهادار آمريكا موسوم به SEC شكايتي عليه مكافي تنظيم كرد كه در آن اعلام شده بود اين شركت سود خالص خود در سال‌هاي 1998 تا 2000 را به اغراق 622 ميليون دلار اعلام كرده است.

14 – در يك دسته‌بندي مي‌توان توليدات اين شركت معظم را در چهار طبقه جاي داد: الف) Home and Home Office ب) Small Business ج) Medium Business د)
Large Enterpris -15 و اين هم يك دسته‌بندي ديگر از محصولات McAfee: الف) ضدهرزنامه ب) ضد جاسوس‌افزار ج) ضدويروس د) Messaging and Web security ه) رمزنگاري و) Host intrusion prevention ز) Large enterprise appliances ح) سولوشن‌هاي مديريتي ط) امنيت موبايل ي) جلوگيري از نفوذ به شبكه‌ها ك) سولوشن‌هاي Security suite 16 – مراجعه به Site Map سايت مكافي مقداري گيج كننده است!
17 – با مراجعه به صفحه http://www.mcafee.com/us/downloads/index.html مي‌توانيد يك عالمه نرم‌افزار رايگان دريافت كنيد (البته همانطور كه قبلاً گفتم ايران تحريم است.)

I have tested it to the limit and I currently use it. I know where I can get viruses and I tested it, and it passed. Automatically remooves any virus. BOSTON, MA – Starting tomorrow, the malicious computer worm Conficker.c will turn computers into zombies. Will one of them be yours?

Conficker.c is an aggressive program transmitted through use of the internet, which is thought to have infected 5-10 million computers. While it is unclear what the program plans to do on April 1, it will essentially take control of every infected machine to do its bidding.

How can you tell if your computer is infected? Check for these signs:

Rusty, foul smell
Tower is cold to the touch, no matter how long your computer has been running
Hard drive continually makes a low, moaning sound
Screen begins to yellow and go out-of-focus
A Google search page for “BBBBRRRAAAAIIINNNNSSSS!!!” keeps popping up

If your computer has two or more of these symptoms, it is probably infected! So what do you do?

Greg Marin, Director of Paranormal Technology Studies at MIT, said, “Go directly to Microsoft.com and download their Emergency Patch. The software will attempt to clean out the infection and restore the computer to its original state. However, most machines are too far-gone at this point and will need other intervention.”

Professor Marin suggested that first, you take the computer to whatever place of worship you attend, so that it can be placed on holy ground. Then, empty out a Windex bottle and fill it with blessed water. Open the back of your tower and spray the insides until it is thoroughly coated. Wait until it has fully dried before plugging the tower back in.

Finally, detach the monitor, take it outside and smash it apart with a baseball bat, tire wrench, or whatever blunt object you may have lying around. Wait seven days and then buy a new monitor. Your PC should be in the clear!

When asked what laptop owners should do, Professor Marin merely shook his head. “I’m afraid all is lost,” he whispered.
