Mas a razão de ser deste post é que, apesar de achar o Death Proof meio sei lá, ele tem umas coisas incríveis… Como os trailers falsos, que são todos geniais. E aí uma ironia… Esse post era pra ser sobre o Tarantino… E os 2 trailers de que mais gosto não foram dirigidos por ele:

Machete foi feito pelo Rodriguez e é a saga de um herói mexicano a la Charles Bronson. Foda.

O outro é o maravilhoso  Thanksgiving. Um terror B com roteiro e direção de Eli Roth. Roth é o cara que fez Albergue e, mais recentemente, interpretou Donny Donowitz em Bastardos Inglórios. Lembra dele? Não? É aquele cara que sai da caverna e arrebenta a cabeça do nazi com o bastão de baseball. Lembrou?

My word, I sure am getting a lot of mileage out of Friday the 13th: A New Beginning, a movie that always gets a bad rap (not least from me!). But it’s an entertaining entry in the slasher saga nonetheless—in an inept, groan-inducing sort of way.

Yo, dude! Ever hear of knocking?

What passes for a story is riddled with idiotic elements, including a grotesque backwoods mother and her semi-retarded son, an apathetic drifter who’s the most useless red herring ever committed to celluloid, and some seriously lackadaisical counselors. The major gripe for most fans, though, is undoubtedly the lack of Jason. After suffering the fabled “machete slide” at the end of part four, the real deal spends part five in his grave while an impersonator does the dirty work. (Actually, the misinformed mayor remarks that Jason was cremated, but six subsequent sequels would indicate that he’s a tad misinformed.) If you ask me, however, the fraudulent fruitcake is the least of part five’s problems.

Jason is an icon. His hockey mask is one of the most potent images in horror history. Even wet blankets who wouldn’t be caught dead actually watching a Friday flick, instantly recognize the mask. It’s narrative shorthand for death, carnage and epic fail camping trips. Add grubby coveralls and a bloody machete to the equation, and you’ve got an indelible presence to match that of Lugosi’s Dracula or Karloff’s Monster. Of course, only a moron would argue that Jason’s bloodbaths could ever hold a candle to the Universal classics, but there’s something to be said for his level of pop culture notoriety. When you consider that six men have so far played the masked, adult Jason, you begin to realize the potency of the imagery—with the right accoutrements and body language, any big guy can be Jason Voorhees, homicidal mama’s boy.

See? Even the actor who played the phony, despite his reservations, could feel the power of the costume. So what if the real Jason was taking a dirt nap? SPOILER WARNING: Vengeful paramedic Roy dispatches his victims in the spirit of the genuine article, and that’s good enough for me. I even like the new, unscathed mask with the blue diamonds—as you may remember, Jason’s mask has red diamonds and a slit above the left temple.

Jessica Alba is to re-unite with Robert Rodriguez in a film based on a series of Belgian graphic novels. Whilst the pair first teamed on the cinematic adaptation of Frank Miller’s Sin City, they are now to respectively star in and produce a big screen version of The Insiders. The director’s chair will, somewhat excitingly, go to Mabrouk el Mechri whose last film, the post modern action flick JCVD, somehow made Jean Claude Van Damme not only relevant again but, unexpectedly, an art-house darling.

   The Insiders focuses on the character Najah Cruz, a “Colombian who is as deadly as she is beautiful.” Armed with the weapons skills of James Bond Cruz must, according to icv2, “infiltrate a worldwide mafia-like organization composed of businessmen and politicians” to become the bodyguard of the organization’s leader.

   The Insiders marks one of many projects Alba has lined up at the moment. Alongside her role in the Meet The Fockers sequel, the erstwhile Dark Angel is set to appear in An Invisible Sign of My Own, Machete and Michael Winterbottom’s The Killer Inside Me.

Topher Grace and Adrien Brody have been confirmed for the lead roles in Robert Rodriquez’ remake of 1987’s “Predator”.  Although Grace and Brody are no Schwarzenegger, I trust that Rodriguez knows what he is doing.  He must have something interesting in the works, because Grace and Brody are really delicate men.  After recent movies like “Planet Terror” and “Sin City”, I am excited to see what Rodriguez will do with this remake.

Look forward to Rodriguez’ “Machete” to tide you over until July 7th when “Predator” is set to be released.

four days and three nights

Today was my third day in Albuquerque.  Save that first lunch on the way home from the airport, I’ve only been out of the house once, to take a 20 minute walk with my mom in the nearby canyon.  Well, they call it a canyon, but it’s more of a wide dip of open space between a housing development and her neighborhood.  Other than that, I’ve only left the computer for naps, the bathroom, and to eat… though I’ve been eating at my machine a lot.

This sordid tale ends tomorrow.  Whether it’s done or not, I’ll be through with this project, this documentation, this employer, this seven year chapter of my life.  I’ll definitely miss some of my coworkers, but I don’t need the job to stay connected with them.  I’d rather kick it when I’m relaxed, not venting about dumb work shit.

parecem que existe só dois tipos de bandas: as vendidas e os guerrilheiros.

por sorte, acho que estao todos errados… digo, todos os ouvintes de bandas que pensam assim.

tem o tipico mala, que eu ja fui quando muleque, que acha que a banda que ele gosta só é boa pq a midia nao corrompeu. Entao, quanto menos gente gostar da banda, mais pura ela fica pra ele poder guardar o CD numa gaiola, chamando de my precious. O cara esquece que os musicos da banda que ele gosta tao fazendo isso nao como um hobbie, mas para viver disso, de fazer musica…

entao ele precisa que aquilo (que os outros chamam de “minha banda preferida” e ele de “minha banda, meu trabalho”)  se torne o mais conhecido e querido o possivel.

depois, quando uma banda sai da “guerrilha” e se torna “vendida” ela é rotulada de lixo.

bom, no caso do Huaska tá facil… a gente nunca foi da guerrilha e nunca será vendido… iuhaeuiheuihea

enfim, acho muito bom quando uma banda que eu gosto comeca a ser divulgada em massa.

mais gente que vai gostar, mais chance de ter shows bons por aqui, todo mundo mais feliz…

A diferencia de la entrada anterior, es bastante gratificante ver a un cineasta que sí se preocupa porque cada estímulo emanado de sus producciones, sea positivo. Tal es el caso de Robert Rodríguez con Machete que, desde que salió el falso trailer en su película Planet Terror, causó conmoción y se veía un estilo de película clase B, exagerado pero interesante.

Pues bien, ya hay imágenes del primer poster oficial, en el que se muestra a Jessica Alba en su papel de Sartana. Pareciera en un primer vistazo que sólo es ella posando con un arma, pero el efecto de envejecimiento que le dieron al poster, la identidad gráfica de la película, etc, lo hacen ver mucho más agradable, propio de lo que será la cinta.

Girellando per l’IMDb, ho scoperto in post-produzione un film che non avrei mai pensato che potesse venir realizzato: sto parlando di Machete!

Forse qualcuno ha un’idea di ciò di cui sto parlando, altri forse lo intuiranno se dico Grindhouse – Planet Terror: per tutti può essere utile http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0985694/.

Il regista è Robert Rodriguez, del quale se non lo conoscete vi consiglio di guardare El Mariachi (il primo, senza Banderas) e Four Rooms (l’episodio con Banderas): dopo averli visti l’ho considerato un genio. Poi  ho visto Dal tramonto all’alba e qualche pezzo dei “mariachi” successivi… il giudizio si è ridimensionato fino ad arrivare a quello di “lato scanzonato (o scazzone) del pulp”, anche per la sua amicizia con Quentin Tarantino, che è sicuramente più cerebrale.

Non so se essere contento o meno che la genialata di un finto trailer in mezzo a Planet Terror diventi un film vero e proprio: mi sembra che si rovini l’ironia dell’idea originale. Però quel finto trailer prometteva “bene”. E altrettanto bene promette il cast annunciato da IMDb. Penso che aspetterò tranquillamente di vederlo, a casa, non credo al cinema.

PS: leggendo i trivia, scopro che lo script risale al 1993: potrebbe essere un buon segno.

PPS: cliccando sul personaggio di Machete, mi accorgo che è presente anche nei tre Spy Kids, sempre interpretato da Danny Trejo… potrebbe essere un brutto segno.

A atriz Jessica Alba é quem aparece no primeiro pôster de Machete. O filme que é baseado no trailer falso apresentado em Grindhouse, fez sucesso e ganhou uma versão longa metragem dirigido pelo diretor Robert Rodriguez.

Na trama, acompanhamos o renegado Machete (Danny Trejo), ex-agente federal mexicano, que depois de ser caçado pelo chefão do tráfico Torrez (Steven Seagal) vaga pelas ruas do Texas e acaba aceitando de Benz (Jeff Fahey), um relações públicas acostumado a limpar a barra de políticos, uma proposta para assassinar o senador corrupto McLaughlin (Robert De Niro).

Enquanto isso, encurralado por todos os lados, Machete só encontra ajuda na figura de Luz (Michelle Rodriguez), uma picante cozinheira de tacos, de seu irmão “santo” Padre (Cheech Marin) e da patricinha com gosto para armas April (Lindsay Lohan). Tudo isso enquanto é perseguido por Sartana (Alba), uma sexy oficial da Imigração com interesses particulares em Machete.

O filme tem estreia prevista para 2010.

Está acontecendo American Film Market, a feira é conhecida por divulgar novidades da indústria cinematográfica. A primeira delas é o cartaz do filme Machete, novo filme de Robert Rodriguez, na imagem Jessica Alba aparece fazendo o velho papel de  garota sensual. Veja a imagem abaixo:

A ideia do filme surgiu a partir do trailer falso lançado junto com Grind House (que juntava os dois bons filmes Death Proof de Quentin Tarantino e Planeta Terror de Rodriguez) que infelizmente no Brasil não recebeu nenhuma atenção. O trailer agradou tanto que Rodriguez resolveu fazer um longa-metragem da história escrita por ele sobre o personagem que dá nome ao filme, Machete.

Na trama Danny Trejo, vive Machete um ex-agente federal que depois ser traído pelo chefe do tráfico Torrez (Steven Segal), aceita fazer um trabalho para Benz (Jeff Fahley), um relações públicas que vive de limpar a carreira de políticos sujos, o trabalho consiste em matar o senador corrupto McLaughlin (Robert De Niro).

No meio de toda essa enrrascada Manchete é ajudado por uma cozinheira de tacos chamada Luz (Michelle Rodriguez), seu irmão Padre (Cheech Marin) e da estranha patricinha April (Lindsay Lohan).

Com direção da dupla Robert Rodrigues e Ethan Maniquis, Machete estréia em 2010.

Dos filmes infantis até as produções b, passando por adaptações de quadrinhos e o que mais ele estiver afim de filmar, Robert Rodriguez acaba fazendo tudo o que tem vontade na sétima arte e leva a vida que todos nós gostaríamos. Que é viver fazendo o que der na telha.

Mais uma prova disso é a aparição do primeiro pôster de Machete, um filme que surgiu de um trailer fakezão feito para o filme Planeta Terror do projeto Grindhouse. Segundo o tal trailer, Machete é um cara que depois de ser traído e quase morto por seu antigo contratante, volta do limbo para ir a forra com as pessoas que tentaram lhe passar a perna.

Já o pôster em questão está a mostra no American Film Market, onde uma boa alma com uma camera, bateu uma foto e jogou na internet (e se espalho pelo Comingsoon.net). Abaixo vai o pôster com Jessica Alba (só ai já valeu o filme) e mais abaixo tem o trailer versão fictícia da produção que tem estréia prevista para 16 de abril de 2010 nos EUA.
