Tratto da un thread nel newsgroup it.comp.machintosh, vi sottopongo la porzione che penso sia applicabile in ogni contesto.

Qui si discuteva del perché la Apple non fornisce un adattatore Fireware 800 visto che molti acquirenti vengono da realtà in cui esisteva solamente la Fireware 400 (cambiano le dimensioni del connettore).

Ci sono case (tipicamente la giapponesi) che tendono a fare

Nach nun knapp 2 Wochen kann ich endlich ein Feedback zu meinem MacMini abgeben.

Gekauft habe ich Ihn bei Gravis in Düsseldorf. 560 Euro mit HDMI Adpater war wirklich ganz ok.

Das Gerät läuft sehr flüssig. Bis jetzt habe ich keine Probleme gehabt. Full HD Videos lassen sich ruckelfrei abspielen und Windows 7 im BootCamp lässt sogar Crysis auf mittlerer Detailsstufe zu.

Für einen Gelegenheitsspieler sicher eine gute Investition. Als Mediacenter ist der neue MacMini auch sehr gut zu gebrauchen.

Der MacMini ist wirklich nicht nur für Apple Einsteiger gedacht. Wer ab und zu mal spielen will und und gerne FullHD Videos guckt, manchmal einen Film mit iMovie erstellen will und mehr chattet und surft als Full HD Videos zu erstellen ist mit diesem Gerät besser aufgehoben als mit einem vergleichbaren Windows Rechner.

Ich weis nicht wie Apple das schafft, aber Crysis auf Mittlerer Detailstufe und einer Geforce 9400M Gt und 2 GB Ram? HAMMAAA ^^

Nun sind sie gekommen… die letzten Tage mit meinem Laptop.

Der neue Macmini überzeugt nicht nur in der Hardware, sondern auch im Preis. 560 Euro für das Teil ist ein Preis den man bezahlen kann. Apple geht mit den Preisen runter und spendiert bessere Hardware.. ok.. ich bin dabei ^^.

Apple has not let the mini wither and die on the vine, as some had anticipated so many times. Instead, it has just made it into a bigger and better product without radically changing the look and design.

It has bumped up the memory, given it a faster CPU and introduced a server version to boot!

Memory has been doubled to (up to 4GB), processor is now up to 2.66GHz and  Snow Leopard Server edition is now available for £799. For your money you get two 500GB hard drives (instead of one and a SuperDrive). Even better is that the Server Edition comes with an unlimited client version, making it excellent value. This means no additional fees, no matter how many clients you serve on your network.

At the same time, Apple hasn’t forgotten the need to be green and the new mini uses only 14 watts when its idle, better than any other desktop on the market. At a mere 6.5 inches square and 2 inches tall it remains as petite as ever, taking up less desktop space than any other pc.

When you consider that it also uses DDR3 memory (many pcs use DDR2 still) and that it comes with NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics, its quite a little powerhouse. It includes 5 USB 2.0 and 1 Firewire 800 ports and even lets you connect two monitors (including a TV) via its mini-DVI and Mini Displayport connectors.

All-in-all Apple have certainly not left the mini to wither slowly and eventually die but have given it a new lease of life. If anyone thought that Apple was neglecting the Mac in favour of the iPhone then they need to think again. Together with the new iMacs, the re-vamped MacBook and the new Magic Mouse they have shown they are as committed as ever to the range.

Ecco l’ultima meraviglia di casa Apple! Il nuovissimo Multi-touch Magic Mouse (MMM).

Come ogni volta, i rumors incalzano, l’attesa diventa un rito e si freme per sapere quali sono le novità dei prodotti Apple.
Ma andiamo con ordine. Tra le novità presentate ieri ci sono:

La nuova linea iMac, dotata schermi widescreen da 21,5 e 27 pollici a retroilluminazione LED, nuovi MacBook unibody, nuovi MacMini, nuova tastiera wireless, nuovi Apple remote, Airport Extreme, Time Capsule e… il nuovo Magic Mouse!

Innanzitutto è cambiato il nome. Questo perché Apple ha perso i diritti per l’uso del marchio Mighty Mouse.
Ma non importa. Il nuovo mouse è decisamente più bello e performante del precedente grazie ad una serie di novità:
Scocca liscia sensibile al tatto, niente meccanismi di pulsanti o rotelle varie, funzioni Multi-Touch avanzate come nell’iPhone, nuovo sistema di Laser-tracking, sistema di risparmio intelligente della batteria e soprattutto senza fili! Utilizza infatti sia la rete Wifi che il sistema Bluetooth.

Insomma, uno strumento bello, funzionale e innovativo.
Una vera meraviglia!

Hoje o dia foi bom pra Apple (e principalmente para todos os MacManíacos do mundo). Como nós estamos adiantando para vocês já há algum tempo, hoje aconteceu o que Dan Lyons preveu: atualizações em seus iMacs, MacBooks, Mighty Mouses, Mac Minis, e o até então o já esquecido pela empresa Apple Remote.

O iMac ganhou uma versão “Monstro” com extratosféricas 27 polegadas, um design unibody, e uma configuração de dar inveja ha qualquer PC que rode Windows, as versões de 20 e 24 polegadas disseram adeus a família Apple.

O Macbook, ganhou um visual unibody de policarbonato, uma bateria interna, e um trackpad multitouch. Ele também ficou mais leve e durável, segundo a Apple.

O novo mouse da Apple, batizado de Magic Mouse, ficou parecido com aqueles objetos do filme ”Minority Report” com um visual futurístico nunca visto antes em um mouse. Mas o seu maior diferencial é a extinção da “ame-a ou deixe-a” bolinha de scroll: agora toda a sua superfície é um trackpad multitouch, como o dos novos MacBooks aí em cima. Ah, e como ele está lindo…

O Apple Remote ganhou um atualização mais do que merecida, depois de estar inalterado desde 2006, com um visual unibody de alumínio. Ficou parecido com um iPod Nano, e custará 120 reais na loja da Apple.

O Mac Mini ganhou uma atualização interna, mais parruda, e uma versão Server, sem o Superdrive..

Este é só um resumo das atualizações da Apple de hoje. Breve faremos apresentações mais detalhadas sobre cada produto.

Finalmente è arrivato il momento di aggiornamenti nella gamma di iMac (introdotta la versione 21,5 pollici e 27″), MacMini (più veloci, e con versione server-ready), Macbook (e qui storciamo il naso per la parte estetica) ma anche di prodotti “minori” come il mouse, che ora si chiama Magic Mouse e acquisisce funzionalità multitouch oltre che una linea invidiabile…

Product rumors have been fairly quiet on the Apple front recently, but the tech community has begun exchanging whispers about new Macs due in stores soon.

While the world waits for Apple to deliver its highly anticipated touchscreen tablet in early 2010, the nearer future most likely holds upgraded iMacs, Mac Minis, MacBooks and perhaps a new multitouch mouse.

Thinner, groovier iMacs
On average, Apple refreshes its iMacs every seven months, and the last batch of iMacs were released in March. History suggests that new iMacs should arrive any day now.

What’s new about them? Financial publication Barron’s cites research firm Wedge Partners, who claims the new iMacs will sport a “thinner, organic design, likely with smoothed or rounded edges.” That’s reasonable to believe: The current aluminum form factor hasn’t been changed for about two years. The previous white iMac lasted two years before receiving the aluminum makeover. So a new design for the next iMac would make sense. Also, a thinner, rounder design upgrade would be consistent with the look of the new aluminum MacBook Pros.

Corroborating the claim of thinner iMacs, a purported foreign Apple advertisement for a new iMac emerged on Google.nl, stating “iMac: Ultra Thin 20 & 24 inch models. From only €1099. Apple Store.”

Multitouch mouse
The iMac is rumored to be shipping with an extra bonus: a new multitouch mouse, which will presumably sport a touch-sensitive housing to do away with the roller ball on the current Mighty Mouse. Sources told AppleInsider that the new mouse would apply the multipoint touch detection technology seen in the iPhone and the iPod Touch.

A new iMac is the perfect opportunity for Apple to roll out a new mouse. Wired.com believes a multitouch mouse should function similarly to the unibody MacBook trackpads, which detect multitouch gestures. On new MacBooks, tapping the trackpad with two fingers triggers a right-click function, for example; this rumored multitouch mouse might copy this behavior. Also, for a mouse, we would expect a multitouch gesture to replace scrolling in different directions, and perhaps there will be special gestures that trigger Exposé commands as well.

New White MacBooks

Remember the MacBook? You know, that lone white notebook in the Mac family. Rumors say the MacBook will soon receive a design overhaul and be joined by additional models. Not much is known, other than that the new MacBooks will reportedly be thinner and lighter, and the internal architecture will be reworked. Financial blog Barron’s cites research firm Wedge Partners, who claims the MacBook redesign “is likely to be limited.” That’s vague, but we think many of us would consider thinner and lighter to be a “limited” redesign (i.e., not mindblowingly exciting).

Mac Mini
Last and definitely least, there have been scarce rumors about a new Mac Mini also launching with the iMac and MacBook. Apple’s treatment toward the Mac Mini has been inconsistent with its other products: The company waited 600 days before releasing the current Mac Mini, and the upgrade was only minor; it introduced no changes to form factor. Mac Mini customer feedback suggests the device is being used for niche applications including cheap server setups, digital music servers for audiophiles and replacements for Windows PCs.

Ne deduco ancora che SL penalizza maggiormente l’I/O da disco rispetto  LEO.

Il Mac mini viene sempre dato per defunto dai soliti bene informati, e sempre Cupertino finisce invece per rinnovarlo e confermare il suo ruolo di “ingresso” nel mondo Mac. Prendendosi i suoi tempi, certo – tra questa serie 2009 e la precedente è passato più di un anno e mezzo – ma i miglioramenti apportati stavolta garantiscono nuova linfa al piccolo desktop.

Alla prima occhiata il case del nuovo Mac mini è identico al precedente, ma non è così. Ora la struttura portante è in alluminio e il policarbonato è limitato alla copertura superiore. Sul lato posteriore ci sono molte novità: troviamo cinque porte USB, una Firewire 800 e due uscite video (una mini-DVI e una Mini DisplayPort).
La doppia porta video garantisce elasticità: possiamo collegare il mini a un monitor standard DVI, a un nuovo schermo Mini DisplayPort o anche a tutti e due contemporaneamente. Con un adattatore possiamo anche collegare il mini al grande Apple Cinema Display da trenta pollici, ed è la prima volta che è possibile farlo per un Mac desktop consumer.
Molti miglioramenti sono all’interno, a partire dalla grafica. Il nuovo mini adotta il chip Nvidia GeForce 9400M degli attuali MacBook, con 128 o 256 MB di memoria video condivisa a seconda della RAM totale. In confronto il precedente chip Intel GMA 950 arrivava a 64 MB. Passi avanti per il processore, che è un Intel Core 2 Duo della linea Penryn (a 2 GHz standard, 2,26 in opzione), il bus di sistema (a 1.066 MHz e non più 667) e la memoria RAM (con chip a 1.066 MHz e per un massimo di 4 GB). Ma anche per l’unità ottica (SuperDrive 8X Dual Layer), il Wi-Fi (802.11n) e Bluetooth (2.1+EDR). Si poteva fare di meglio per i dischi: ora sono SATA invece che IDE, ma sono ancora modelli a 5.400 rpm e quindi un po’ lenti.

Le prestazioni
In quanto a performance, in questa serie i passi avanti sono legati soprattutto al nuovo chip grafico e alla nuova architettura interna e meno alla potenza pura del processore (la cui frequenza è rimasta più o meno la stessa).
Nelle attività legate a un uso intensivo del disco i nuovi hard drive, seppure lenti, sono meglio di quelli della versione 2007 e si vede. In un test di scompattamento di un file zip il Mac mini base è stato più veloce del 17 per cento rispetto al Mac mini “top” della linea precedente, incremento che per il nuovo mini “top” passa al 35 per cento perché il suo disco è migliore (a due piatti invece che a uno solo). I miglioramenti più marcati si hanno nella sezione grafica, grazie al chip GeForce. Il nuovo Mac mini “top” ha fatto segnare 39,1 frame al secondo in Quake 4, 63 in Unreal Tournament 2004 e 35,6 in Call of Duty 4. In confronto il modello più potente della generazione 2007 faceva segnare 5,6 fps in Quake, 21,9 in Unreal e… zero in Call of Duty, dato che non riusciva nemmeno a eseguire il gioco.

Benchmark a parte, complessivamente il Mac mini con 2 GB di memoria ha prestazioni adeguate per le applicazioni più comuni (Office, Safari, iLife…) anche quando si svolgono più compiti allo stesso tempo. Va meno bene per il modello base con 1 GB di RAM, tanto che consideriamo l’espansione di memoria praticamente obbligatoria.

Quale scegliere
Quale Mac mini conviene comprare, considerando anche che il mini non è una macchina facile da espandere dopo l’acquisto? Il Mac mini “top” è il modello ovviamente più adatto agli usi generalisti, ma costa 200 euro in più del modello base (proposto a 599 euro): è una somma non del tutto giustificata, perché se installassimo noi un disco più veloce e 1 GB di memoria in più non spenderemmo tanto. A chi preferisce contenere le spese consigliamo di acquistare il modello base configurandolo con 2 GB di RAM invece di uno solo, per poi superare i limiti del disco interno usando i circa 150 euro risparmiati per acquistare una unità esterna Firewire capace e veloce. Chi invece preferisce non avere pensieri e periferiche, acquisti direttamente il mini da 799 euro.

Detto questo, chi dovrebbe acquistare in generale un Mac mini? 
Sicuramente chi non ha un Mac e vuole entrare nel mondo Apple spendendo il meno possibile, ma l’acquisto è consigliabile anche a chi ha ancora un vecchio Mac PowerPCo magari un mini Intel di primissima generazione. Chi invece ha un Mac mini della generazione di agosto 2007 ha meno incentivi ad aggiornare, a meno che non debba o voglia usare applicazioni che beneficerebbero molto della nuova piattaforma grafica Nvidia.

Nessuna paura per il nuovo firmware del MacMini, tutto OK, come o meglio di prima.

Hola a tod@s, como dice el titulo de esta entrada, quiero hacer una mención especial a dos empleados de la tienda K-Tuin de Alicante, ya que tuvieron un trato exquisito conmigo.

Bueno la historia surgió cuando el 28 de Febrero del 2009, compre en esta tienda un Mac Mini “Básico”, después de tan solo 13 días, Apple renueva toda la gama de Ordenadores de mesa, incluido el Mac Mini. Mira la cara que se me queda al comprobar que en tan solo 13 días mi “Nano” se queda obsoleto .

Pues nada como ya estaba desembalado y usado, la posibilidad de que me lo cambien, tira mas a imposible, pero aun así yo llamo a K-Tuin y les comento el “Disgusto” que me he llevado al ver las características nuevas que han añadido al Mac Mini, que pasan desde una Wifi N, una Tarjeta Gráfica Nvidia 9400, ante una Intel 945 del anterior modelo, sin comentar que ya puede grabar DVD y encima 120 G de Disco Duro.

Pues es aquí mi sorpresa cuando contacta María conmigo y me comenta que si, que me lo cambian, (eso si, previo pago de la diferencia de precio), que la unica condicion es que el Mac Mini tiene que estar impecable, requisito que reunía con creces, ya que yo cuido mis Mac como a mis Hijos, los limpio todos los días con productos especiales para tal efecto, el MacBook (Unibody) lo guardo siempre que no lo uso en su Embalaje Original y tengo Bayetas especiales de esas que dan con las Pantallas Planas de TV, en fin que por cuidados no me quedo corto en mis “queridísimos” Mac, incluido el iPhone.

Pues en ese momento yo no puedo ir hasta el dia 27-03-09 a Alicante, por lo tanto embalo mi Mac Mini y no le doy uso hasta solucionar el cambio. Llega el dia 27 y me desplazo a Alicante, contacto con Maria y Juan y su disponibilidad para el cambio sigue en pie, “Pero“, (si hay un pero) en esos momentos no les quedan Mac Minis, yo me quireo morir ya que es el equipo que usa normalmente mi hija y la verdad que demasiado tiempo lleva ya sin usarlo.

Pues les comento que solucion pueden darme, me dicen que me espere o que si yo quiero me lo canjean por un Vale con el mismo valor de la compra anterior. Mira por donde yo me tengo que desplazar por un tiempo a Madrid, contacto con mi familia y al explicarles el tema me dicen que si lo hay en madrid que me lo cambien en Madrid, se lo comento a Maria y me dice que no tiene por que haber problemas en realizar el cambio en Madrid, asi que cojo mi Mac Mini y me marcho para mi casa, ese mismo dia viajo a Madrid.

A la mañana siguiente me voy al K-Tuin de la Calle Arenal, les comento lo del cambio y poco mas me “Pegan” al decir que ya estaba desembalado, pero que Maria una compañera de K-Tuin de Alicante me ha dicho que la llaméis en caso de que surja algún inconveniente en el cambio. Pues me dice el “Chaval” que el no tiene que llamar a nadie, ya que al estar desembalado el producto me puedo olvidar del cambio, que “Nanai” (con esa chulería que nos caracteriza a los Madrileños).

Pues me dirijo al 2º K-Tuin que hay en Madrid, el de la calle Orense y en esta ocasion me dicen que podria realizarse el cambio, pero que en estos momentos no les quedan Mac Minis, que tengo que esperar un mes, mas o menos, les digo que si me dan un Vale por el valor del Mac mini y claro, como no lo he comprado en Madrid, eso no es viable.

Pues nada en estos momentos estoy escribiendo desde mi Mac Mini “Antiguo” el cual me da muchas satisfacciones, todo hay que decirlo. Al final en el trascurso de un viaje a Alicante el pobre Mac Mini y dentro de su embalaje se marca en la parte superior, le salen unas marcas como de suciedad al rozarse con la Caja de los DVDS, no entiendo como se han producido dichos arañazos o mas bien marcas ya que en la base de la caja tambien existen las mismas marcas, pero el caso que despues de tanto “Rollo”  ya no puedo realizar el cambio. Que le vamos a hacer.

El caso, que por parte de María y Juan de K-Tuin Alicante no hubo ningún tipo de problema en el cambio, pero ya ni me molesto por las dichosas marquitas que han salido, me quedo con el Mac Mini que compre en un principio.

Solo agradecer y por supuesto recomendar la tienda K-Tuin de Alicante, en la cual sus empleados y sobre todo María y Juan te atienden de maravilla.

Ryktet om en spelkonsol från Apple har varit på tal länge nu. Och nu sätter ryktet fart igen, The inquirer har lagt upp en artikel där de spekulerar i en spelkonsol från Apple. Du kan läsa artikeln här.

Apple har ju sin iPhone som som de verkligen har lyckats med. Och på AppStore finns det ju mängder med spel.

Och med tanke på den succén som iPhone och deras AppStore har haft är det inte konstigt att tänka att de säkerligen även vill dominera spelmarknaden.

Steve Jobs, chefen och grundaren av Apple har nu varit sjukskriven i ett halvår och i slutet av juni kommer han tillbaks chef för Apple igen. Då är det troligt att han vill komma tillbaka med buller och bång, och verkligen ge publiken något stort. Kanske är det en spelkonsol?

Det snackas också om att AppStore skall komma till AppleTV eller MacMini och på så vis förvandla dessa till spelkonsoler.

Mycket rykten men ingen som vet exakt vad det handlar om.

Vad tror ni själva, är det bara grundlösa rykten eller har Apple någonting på gång?

Och hur kommer handkontrollen att vara, bara en enda knapp eller ett klickhjul? Kanske kommer handkontrollen vara en touchplatta med multitouch?

MacMiniも我が家に来てから一年、保証期間も終わったので開腹してHDDを交換することにしました。
元々は2.5インチ5400prmの120Gなのでアプリとか画像入れると、すぐいっぱいになります。
そこで2.5インチを取り出し、外付けで3.5インチHDDを付けてみます。
Miniの開腹はネットをググればいっぱいヒットします。　こことか　ここ　などを参考にさせていただきました。
