Woke up around 2230 last nite and started out by ringing my mom that has tried to reach me in these last days… Well, I’ve turned my day up side down again so I’d better call back while there is a chance she was up *lolz*. Anyways… at least now she don’t have to worry for another week *giggles manly* … høhøøøh ?!

Ofc my day started with me kinda blushing as I read my favorite blog ’cause it’s the first time someone ever managed to name a pet with my original name (my rl name … kinda gotten used to Silver now so Tom actually doesn’t sound that bad anymore *lol*)… And it’s kinda suiting for a Crocodile aka Sewer beast don’t ya think? Anyways… I thinkz it was cute. Thanks Elise, that was a sweet gesture, nao getz back on your dk (at some point when i’m awake so we can go out on adventures and sneak through dungeons ^.^ ).

I love the soundtrack from Macross Frontier ! If you like anime series and haven’t seen this one you have missed out for sure. What a great soundtrack it has. I luvz Megumi Nakajima…

I’m sitting here in my bed trying to figuring out if I’m gonna sleep for 4 hours then set my alarm so I can wake up in time for raid and check if it’s a go or If I’m gonna try stay awake till midnight… I have a feeling the second won’t go so well heheh… So I’ll go for the sleeping I guess.. Right now I iz kinda stuffed on spaghetti… again … Why do I torture myself ? Can’t I make something more interesting to eat ? But but… it’s so darned easy… Oh well… gotta try something else tomorrow.

It’s weekend again for the mere mortals (for me the last year has been a long weekend)… NOT ! Even tho I don’t do anything try a year in my shoes and you’d shut up pretty fast. Thank God for WoW is all I can say at this time.

PS : I stopped using Snus at 7th of July this year … and I’m still managing (tho the temptation is there in the weekends) It feels like it’s been a year since I enjoyed “a nice fat klyp of snus” but it’s barely been 5 months… *sigh* Only two good things has come out of quitting… Water tastes much better and teeth are white and shiny ^.^

C’est en passant par hasard sur le blog de Rosalys que j’ai vu un étrange billet sur un concert de Macross Frontier, édité en DVD appelé Macross F Galaxy Tour Final in Budokan et qui avait l’air bien trippant, en plus on pouvait voir Megumi Nakajima et May’n, les interprètes de Sheryl et Ranka dans la série. Et vu que hier j’avais rien à faire de plus intéressant, je me suis mis à le chercher sur le net. Allez hop, un ptit lien torrent que je trouve dans un coin sombre du net, outch ça pèse tout de même 3.4Go ! Bon bah tant pis, je vais le laisser dl pendant que je serais en cours demain.

*Le lendemain* OMFG! O.o – Mais ça tue ce truc ! Je comprends enfin la signification de “monumental concert” donné par Rosalys. Parceque vous pensiez que quand je disais concert sous le thème de Macross Frontier, c’était le ptit truc minable avec une série d’otaku sortis d’Akihabara qui tendent la main, à la recherche du souvenir peut être incroyable de toucher leur idole,  avec la bouche ouverte. Mais que dalle ! On a ici un Budokan remplit ! Si la série n’a pas eu un impact génial en France, ça n’a pas l’air d’être de même dans l’archipel. Déjà faire un concert sur une série animée, ça le fait déjà, mais remplir le budokan ça inspire plein de chose. C’est vrai que la série jouait pas mal sous son coté bande-son qui donnait tout de même un bon plus à la série, mais ça me semblait pas si extraordinaire que ça dans mes souvenirs. Bon, faut avouer que depuis quelques temps j’ai un léger coté alzheimer qui me fait défaut, je me souviens que c’est cette série qui m’avait donné envie de voir Macross Plus que j’avais beaucoup aimé, mais sinon la seule trace que j’ai de la série c’est la bande originale sur mon pc, noyée au milieu des 200 autres (je crois que je pourrais faire un mini nipponsei rien qu’avec mon pc). Alors j’avoue qu’au début, je me demandais sérieusement si j’avais pas oublié si j’avais adoré la série ou pas finalement.

Mais revenons un peu à notre concert qui dure tout de même plus de deux heures. L’ensemble du concert est évidemment animé par les deux interprètes, sous le couvert de Yokô Kanno qui s’occupe parfois du piano ou de l’orchestre. Si une chose marque déjà, c’est l’incroyable énergie déployée par les deux chanteuses, à se demander comment elles font pour ne pas s’arrêter, alors que la plupart des chanteurs sont déjà en sueur au bout de 10 minutes de concert. Un écran géant couvre le tout et passe constamment des passages de la série, d’ailleurs le passage où les robots dansent sur la chanson de Megumi m’a bien fait délire, c’était assez ridicule en fait. La foule passe entre le stade d’amorphe à totalement en délire avec leurs petite sticks colorés, mais les deux compères donnent assez d’ambiance et ça passe bien au final.

Si une vidéo était déjà proposée par Rosalys, je voulais montrer un passage un peu plus sympa, histoire de montrer que quand on fait un concert comme ça au Budokan, on le fait pas à moitié. Alors oui la qualité de la vidéo et du son sont nazes, mais si vous saviez comme j’ai galéré pour convertir et éditer ce fichu format mp4 ! De plus, on peut croire à du playback au premiers abords de la vidéo, alors que celle-ci n’est même pas terminée vous vous êtes déjà accroché à votre clavier, en train d’écrire un commentaire trollesque sur ce concert. Loupez, c’est juste qu’au début c’est May’n (Sheryl Nome) qui chante sans être encore sur scène. Maintenant vous pouvez enfin en prendre plein vos petits yeux, après avoir bien sûr mis pause votre lecteur.

Vous avez admiré la chorégraphie, j’en suis sûr. Et encore je peux vous dire que vous n’avez encore rien vu. Que de style, que d’originalité ! Au bout de 5 visionnages, je commence à faire la chorégraphie devant mon pc, au bon de 15 j’ai l’impression qu’il s’agit en fait du culte d’une nouvelle secte. Vous l’aurez compris, j’ai bien kiffé ce concert. On a même l’occasion de voir May’n pleurer à la fin, ou alors elle est vachement douée en comédie, sous les coups de piano de Yôko Kanno de la dernière chanson et ça, ça tue. Je ne passerais pas le passage ou on voit l’interprète d’alto danser sous Chou Jikuu Hanten Nyan Nyan, le titre en dit assez long sur ce qui pourrait être la chorégraphie. Le tout est donc vraiment bien fait, on a pas vraiment le temps de s’ennuyer et si les images de l’anime ne passaient pas sur l’écran derrière la scène, ce serait presque à se demander si ce n’est pas un groupe normal. Je mets aussi un +1 à l’introduction, à travers le capitaine Jeffrey Wilder, terriblement délire et qui rappelle le pourquoi du comment. On a aussi le droit à certains passages que vous comprendrez globalement si vous avez deux trois notions en japonais, ou si vous avez matté une certaine dose d’animes qui vous a incrusté dans le cerveaux certaines phrases, sous forme de dialogue bien japonais et qui font office de pause entre les chansons.

Et je ne peux pas parler de ceci sans parler évidemment de Yôko Kanno (菅野よう子), l’auteur de tout ceci. Compositrice de talent, c’est elle aussi qui a fait la superbe BO de Wolf rains et de Cowboy Bebop, mais aussi de Darker than Black et Jin-Roh. Son travail est souvent signe de qualité pour les fans de bande son. Actuellement je crois qu’elle n’a aucun projet en cours, à vérifier. Durant tout le concert, elle se retrouve derrière son piano, d’ailleurs elle est celle qui ouvre et clôture ce concert.

En note pour la fin, on remarquera aussi le magnifique uniforme allemand du guitariste, rappelant le billet de Itsuki sur la question des néo nazies japonais.  ; ) On a beau savoir, ça fait tout de même étrange de voir un musicien avoir ce genre de tenue sur scène pour un concert du genre.

The first Macross Frontier movie is out in Japan, released 11/21/09!  Bandai is making the toys.  No Yamato’s yet, unfortunately.  Today, we’re going to have a look at the 1/60-scale  DX Chogokin VF-25F Super Messiah Valkyrie Alto Custom!

CollectionDX and Wizartar have some great reviews on the 1/60 DX Chogokin line of Bandai Macross Frontier toys.  This one has the color scheme from the movie, Macross Frontier:  The False Songstress.  In my opinion, the toy looks great!  However, it does have some flaws.  First, it’s not as “tight” as the Yamato valkyries.  By “not tight”, I mean, the plastic pieces don’t quite fit as nicely as the pieces on the Yamato.  The plastic pieces hinges tend to be loose, especially the plastic pieces that allow you to fold the small fin on the leg into the calf.  The laser antenna on the head are also made of a soft plastic, and on my toy, one of the antenna is crooked (bends in an arc).

One difference between the VF-25F and the Yamato 1/60 valkyries is that the Alto pilot figure is not removable, whereas in all the Yamato valkyries, the pilot is removable.

How does the VF-25F compare with a 1/60 Yamato valkyrie?  Well, the VF-25F is longer and wider:

Also notice that the VF-25F’s gunpod is longer and skinnier than the VF-1J’s. In addition, the VF-25F’s gunpod is made of a softer plastic.  The Yamato gunpod definitely feels more solid.

I really wonder how much effort Yamato put into making the second-generation 1/60 valkyries “tight”.  Everything fits together close and tight on a Yamato–the landing gear doors, the legs, the arms, and the missiles.  Shake a 1/60 Yamato valkyrie, and you won’t hear anything rattling, except if you have the gunpod mounted to the arm(s).  Shake the VF-25F, and you’ll hear something rattling.

O PV dele é longo, tem 6 minutos, achei ele bem simples e também não tem muita variação, e o cenário, pelo que eu vi, é meio pobre também. Enfim, não gostei muito do clipe, e pelo fato dele ser bem longo fiquei meio enjoado de assistir ele, portanto minha nota é 2/5.

Fui ver o ranking diário de albums do oricon, e a May’n pelo menos hoje está mandando bem, o mini-álbum “Universal Bunny” ficou em segundo lugar com 17,708 cópias vendidas, sendo que o álbum “Styles” está em terceiro com 9,060 cópias, ou seja, ótimo resultado, já que o primeiro colocado foi o GReeeeN com  seu novo álbum “Imamade no A Men, B Men Desuto!?”, esse que promete vender muito e é um forte candidato a liderar o oricon semana que vem! (bem…., acho que é 1º lugar garantido até né xD, já que vendeu 52,452 em um dia! )

My very first anime convention, and it was the incredibly awesome Anime Festival Asia in Singapore. While many people chose to focus on the merchandise, I decided to focus on the participants of the con – the cosplayers. SIXTY crazy photos ahead! With Singapore being the next most proliferate anime hub, the cosplayers have quite the reputation to hold up, and it doesn’t disappoint.

I would have posted earlier, but being sick kinda delayed it a little. Oh, the above photo wasn’t taken by me, as I didn’t bring my DSLR with me on my trip, that and I also couldn’t get that close to the lovely Gwendolyn.

So I arrived on late Friday, and basically my first breakfast before going to AFA was my absolute favorite breakfast delicacy in Singapore – Roti Prata. Delicious start to my visit!

On the way to Suntec. Decided not to go through the City Hall to Suntec underpass because my friend wanted to have a smoke. It was a nice day for a walk anyway. The weather is nice this time of year – much cooler than summer. It’s like Vancouver’s summer weather!

Inside Suntec. The convention hub is also a mall!  Not too much has changed in here since my last visit, compared to the rest of Singapore. (more photos in the near future).

My AFA ticket. It’s rather unfortunate that my Sunday ticket is still firmly attached to the stub. I got pretty sick near the end of Day 1, and basically was wrestling with the idea of whether to attend Day 2. I regret not going, but at the same time, it probably would have destroyed the rest of my vacation here.

My lunch. Swenson’s baked chicken on rice. I haven’t had Swenson’s in over 4 years! Singapore’s chicken has a very different texture to it, one that I can’t say I really like. The meat is stringy and dry – even with all this sauce.

Into the fray I go. Fortunately, thanks to Zh3us’ organizing, I was able to obtain tickets without needing to line up for hours. I arrived late, and the line-up was still insane! When you walk in the door, you’re greeted by this large (or should I say small) Gundam.

No idea who they are, but frankly, I don’t care. THIS is how cosplay works. Not like most of that North American crap.

A Beyond-Perfect-Grade Gundam. It’s the first time I’ve ever seen something as cool as this at that kind of scale.

I’m speechless at how cool this looks. BADASS!

After finally seeing a Cintiq for the first time in person, I’ve decided to buy less anime figures, sell more anime figures, and save up for a Cintiq.

Absolutely amazing work. I enjoy these kinds of paintings more than the typical anime fan art nowadays. I especially love it when they introduce a more asian/anime influenced edge into this kind of work. It’s what I hope to accomplish in the future.

Suigintou cosplayer. She’s absolutely adorable! And I’m not just talking about the outfit! A very friendly, and timid demeanor from the brief 15 seconds of interaction I had with her.

This is what the convention is all about – jacked up prices for large volumes of anime merchandise, and a lot of rare ones too!

K-On! Not much else I can say about this photo other than “NICE GUITAR!”

I kinda know who the girl on the left is (Bleach?) But the rest escape me. I’m guessing they’re just loligoth.

Same deal. Who are they cosplaying as? Doesn’t matter. I’m sure any girl would love to wear a flowing princessy dress for a day while people snap pictures of her like a celebrity/model.

Can’t say for sure, but I think this guy is a very famous artist. (The Girl Who Leapt Through Time?). Autograph signing had just closed when I got there.

I absolutely cannot wait to see this movie! Production I.G. FTW!

Stickers to prove your worth.

Absolutely awesome Black Rock Shooter cosplayer. The eye thing is a very nice touch. What I find interesting is that you can have ANYONE simply carry a samurai sword, and it will look like cosplay. Wear loligoth, carry a katana = cosplay. Wear a school uniform, carry a katana = cosplay. Wear street clothes, carry a katana = cosplay.

Awesome KH cosplayer. Those weapons are hand-made! I asked what it was made out of and what was involved. It was very technical. I was lost at “composite”.

Terrible fanart is terrible. I like how well it’s rendered, but the entire thing looks… dead. There’s just something incredibly lacking about it – the facial expressions, the poses, the composition, how stiff everyone looks, the complete lack of dynamic movement, it’s just all wrong. Being a huge fan of Valkyria Chronicles, I found this image insulting.

Yes, this is how good fanart looks. Stylized in your own way, but in ways that add to the original concept, not take away. While the general style is “generic”, it’s done well, and works well with the character.

There’s something about a group of cosplaying girls sitting around chatting. Bonus points for them being frilly loligoth cosplayers. You’ll notice they’r still segregated between the “anime hair color” group and the “natural hair color group”.

There were better poses from her, but oh well.

This guy was a great cosplayer. Very friendly, totally open, and very patient. He held that pose for a good 30 seconds while someone with a DSLR snapped away silently.

Then he took a picture with me like we’ve always been good friends. XD

Gwendolyn from Odin Sphere. When I first saw her wandering, I was floored. I wasn’t camera ready as she went through a door and vanished. I wasn’t satisfied leaving without a shot of her. I ran into her again (friend pointed her out). Unfortunately, this photo doesn’t do her justice anyway. I also saw ONE girl dressed as Konata (height was accurate too) but wasn’t camera ready at the time she went passed and disappeared around a corner.

Quite sad that this was the only pic I got of Danny Choo as he was mobbed and rushing away. I shouted “DANNY!” he looked over, and said “Hey!” That blurry thing in front of him is his hand as he waved. If I’m not mistaken, that’s Alodia. It’s blurry, but you can see her Witchblade makeup still on.

At the end of it all, after looking through all my photos, I feel it’s time I bought a new point and shoot camera. Most of the photos I got were blurry under this low light condition. There are cameras nowadays with face tracking, smile tracking, and anti-motion blur processing. I want to get a point and shoot that I can take out for quick shots and not have to worry about missing a moment.

AFA 09 was a lot of fun, and I really wish I was able to attend Day 2. I’ll definitely try to attend again. I’ll at least be attending my local anime con – Anime Evolution, though my friend tells me that I’ll be disappointed after having been exposed to AFA.

I’ve still got more to experience here, and I’ve already taken quite a number of photos of Singapore – the next most proliferating anime hub on the internetz. So stay tuned to check out what Singapore is like!

[ALTER 1/8 Yuki Nagato and AlphaxOmega 1/8 Klan Klang]

This late post highlights two acquisitions for surprisingly really good prices. You can also consider this a semi-filler post since I lost all of my data, pictures, miscellaneous items. I backed up a considerable amount of files, but I haven’t checked how recent the backup goes up to.

As you can see, this is the limited white bathing suit version that was only available for preorder through the Chara-ani online shop. Some time last year, I was able to spot one of these end for roughly $30 from an eBay seller. Given how low the price was, I thought that this figure wasn’t really in demand, therefore I didn’t place as much of an emphasis in prioritizing the acquisition of this figure. Well, the joke was on me because the $30 was a momentary fluke and prices for this figure escalated in price. I really wanted this figure, but I didn’t want to spend more than her suggested retail price.

In the midst of this year, the figure gods bestowed upon me the gift of the ALTER Yuki Nagato figure. Both figures are of excellent quality and do a really splendid job of depicting her personality. I think it comes to a question of regular releases versus limited ones or preference in color schematics. The regular release version is a light blue bathing suit whereas the limited one is white. For some reason, I was still determined to get the limited release of this figure for $30 or less. Yeah, I know.

I saw her go up as in-stock and decided to redeem my $15 voucher which halved the cost of this figure. In the end, I paid less than $30 for her and I couldn’t be any happier with that. The primary reason in wanting this version has to do with my orders for the limited releases of this ALTER line-up. I figure that I would have a complete set for the limited versions and seek out the regular versions if I felt like it in the future.

Now, if you’re trying to budget out luxury costs, I wouldn’t suggest getting this figure if you already own the regular version regardless of how tempting the price is. There is always something new and exciting out there that requires monetary saving and planning.

Initially, I blatantly disregarded this figure because I wanted an adult version of Klan Klang and other figures were serving as a better distraction for me. Upon announcement of Sheryl and Ranka Lee, I knew that I had to get this figure to complete the set. Once again, I couldn’t justify spending retail price on her even though the sculpt was very good. Timing was perfect as this was in-stock at the same time as the Yuki Nagato figure and it was only $30.

In this hobby, you never know whether or not it’s better to wait or preorder right off the bat. Usually, I’m very  good at preordering items especially limited production run ones, but the timing may not always be the best.

Personal Update: I am really loathing how my cursor will jump around and I will be typing lines of text only to have those lines start at odd locations and completely scramble up what I was trying to say in the first place. I also hate how it will automatically select the forward button at the top of my internet browser or highlight text so I end up overwriting things often. UGH!!!!!!!

I thought that I uploaded all the pictures that I wanted to write posts about, but it seems that I have placeholder posts with no accompanying pictures in them. I have to check my external harddrive to see how much of my data was backed up and how much I lost. I care not to think about how much I ended up losing. UGH!!!!

As many of you can probably surmise, I am a very hardcore gamer and the release of great titles has further interfered my ability to update or communicate with people. If you happen to have my PSN Id, Xbox Live gamertag, or Wii friend code, then you know where to find me. Other than that, I am now physically back more so than ever with the arrival of my still wonky laptop.

I am still working a lot of insane hours at work which cut into my personal hobbies. I’m also trying to reassess my life path and see where it takes me from that point on.

Oh yeah, I have the slight case of the sniffles. I am drinking monstrous amounts of water, popping vitamins according to my suggested daily intake, AND sleeping more frequently. Yes, I  know the sleeping part must be a weird thing, but it, too, will pass as normalcy kicks in.

I like the anime, though I do have  some complaints.  But I’ll probably discuss it in my main anime blog, not here.

In an update to my previous post, now I’m liking Tenshi ni Nachatta.  The OST for the new Macross F movie isn’t out yet, but I’m already anticipating it.  Thank God that Yoko Kanno is in charge of the music, I’ve really become a fan of hers now.  Before Macross F, the only music I really liked from her was her work in Ghost in the Shell SAC.  Now, the Macross F soundtrack is really up there in the list of anime music that I like.

Mini Skirt Space Pirates, a light novel series, has a anime adaptation slated for 2011.

Directed by the same person who did Stellvia and animated by the studio behind Macross Frontier, Aquarion and Basquash!, an exact date for the series is yet unknown.

The sci-fi story centers on a girl who works part-time at a space yacht club, but is conscripted by two associates of her father’s to command a space pirate ship. In a miniskirt.

The third volume of the series is slated to launch on Nov. 20 in Japan, and was the first title to publish under the Asahi novels imprint.
