Well it has been 1 week since week picked mad-dog up. He has been very good and smarter than we expected. Yesterday he learned to ’sit’. Also, we were sitting at the dining room table last night and he dragged his bed out of his kennel and placed it closer to us. Pretty smart we thought for a 9 week old pup. I think we’re going to be in TROUBLE. Last night was the first time he slept through the whole night without having to use the washroom. He also now asks to go out (most of the time) when he needs to go.

Here are some new pictures. Most of them are from Maddie’s encounter with Jaxson (Al & Val’s dog – Denise’s aunt and uncle). They were very good together.

That’s my right foot.  I don’t know why Dad took a picture of it.  While he was messing around with the camera, I was on the internet doing research about baby names.   My name continues to get more popular!  Here’s the latest charts from the Social Security Administration:

Maddox has settled quite well. Yesterday, he discovered his bark… but he has only used it a couple of times (so far). He is getting use to his kennel which is good. Doesn’t mind going there to sleep, or if he is feeling a little anxious when the next door neighbour’s dogs bark.  He absolutely loves outside and is getting bolder with the great outdoors each day. Where I Got Swine Flu From Jager...

Hey all. If it wasn’t brought to your attention, I have been on a blogging hiatus because I’m studying for my LSAT on December 6th. I guess God was smiting me because I contracted Swine Flu. My friends say it’s because I’m a pig. I say it’s because I had sex with your mother. BOOSH! Some say this is karma. Me? Well, I totally agree. Even though dystonia-girl was just looking for attention and is a big fat faker[edit:Not a faker, her symptoms were mostly mental] who turned out to have a speedy recovery. Well lah-dee-dah, your highness. Do cheerleaders just get everything? Grrr.

Well, as we all know swine flu is very serious and I’ve put a lot of thought into it. So here is my last will and testament:

I never was a rich man, basically because I have a slew of terrible habits. What little money I do have though, will go to who ever tracks down Maddox (the self proclaimed famous blogger) and kick him right in his self-serving balls. This guy is funny, sure, but his act is kind of tired and his book sucked. Know what else? He didn’t respond to my email. And I’m not just some kid whining he didn’t meet Maddox. Nope. He called out Swine Flu on his blog, and I was going to sneeze in his face and spit in his ginger ale as he requested.

To Berstreet: I’ve shaved my head and bagged the hair. Now you have costume material for years to come. You’re welcome.

To Tom Coughlin: I leave you my 16 inch retractable knight-stick. After knowing you did not go home and beat your son-in-law or your own blood who married him, I’m sending this for every Giants fan. Either you start laying down the law or I’ll fucking haunt the Meadowlands. Don’t mess with me. I’ll have NOTHING better to do. Hell, you can even use this to hit your wife. I don’t care. Just get mean again. Or I’ll have Deacon from King of Queens check your prostate with the GD thing.

To My Parents: Since I’ve prearranged my passing, I’ve deleted all the pornography from my lap top so you can strip it dry of all my writing and give it to a publisher. I’m sure they’ll either make advances on sociopath studies or at least a decent dick-joke sitcom.

Rudy, you’ve been a loyal companion for the 3 short years you’ve been alive with me. I know I’m checking out early and that’s usually the dog’s job but for your remaining years, I leave you…my femur. I decided I’m not going to be an organ donor because of the sole fact that I hate those purple bumper stickers with the pun about “Heaven knows we need them here!,” but I decided I can go to heaven missing a leg so a cute puppy can play for years with the strongest bone in the human body. Well, the 2nd strongest bone in MY body but I need the other one for Marilyn Monroe.

To Brian Westbrook: You ruined my chance at playoffs in fantasy football this year for my money league and I think that’s why my body started shutting down. The fact I had Reggie Bush for 4 weeks and he didn’t crack 7 points and then he pops off for 21 while your career could be over just infuriated me. Just like when I dropped Rashard Mendenhall after the week he was benched and I did it thinking no one could grab him before the game. Well, my opponent did and he had 36 points against me. Ugh. Enough about my fantasy miscues, I feel like Ruxin with Gates from The League. Well, Brian. I leave you my frontal lobe. I’m sure you forgot math by now with all your concussions. Actually, scratch the organ donor idea. You can take all of my body parts when you need them if you just promise to drink some fucking milk once in a while and stop being made out of crackers and loose-leaf paper.

To Gally: I had to put a lot of thought into this one. I left you my toilet paper. Basically because you’re an asshole. ZING!

To LeBron James: I left you my tooth paste for you, because it’s very obvious you put your stupid foot in your stupid millionaire mouth when you said you’d be great at football. It was the next game that you sat out an entire half for banging your wrist on the rim while dunking. Now, I’m just a fan and an amateur blogger but I’m about your age so I can talk down to you…DON’T YOU THINK FOOTBALL IS A LITTLE ROUGHER THAN BASKETBALL? Douche.

Members clubs, it all started as a British thing!                                                                                                                                                     As a Londoner by adoption ( I stayed in France until I was old enough to leave), I’ve lived in and out of Central London since the late 80s. Back then if you wanted to carry on drinking after the pubs closed at 11pm, these were your choices: Disco,  strip joint; illegal drinking holes in Soho. Well, we all know how much it’s changed, thanks to the relaxing of the British licencing laws, and a new generation of members-only venues that have emerged discreetly for those seeking exclusivity, privacy and often more to the point, like-minded people.

Where Fred’s and Groucho led the way, now there are too many to mention -Black’s , Milk & Honey, Willa’s, Home House, the Hospital, Bureau,  Kingly Club, The Cuckoo Club, Maddox, Mo*vida,  Almada, the Ivy Club, Soho House, Century and Paramount (the major design statement that occupies the top floors of the iconic Centre Point tower), the Cobden Club, ElectricHouse, High Road House.

Over in East London,The East Room took over a disused office block next door to its established dance club SOSHO and turned it into a chic 70s-style vintage design heaven to be joined last year in the area by Shoreditch House with the USP of a Roof Top Pool.

So what happens if you’re not a member? Well, just occasionally they’ll open their doors to a further chosen few, like when DEERS comes to The East Room this Saturday, 21 November 2009.

DEERS was created in 2004, following the opening of the Bread & Honey store in Clerckenwell and is an irregular social networking event for all our friends, associates and customers that always takes place in the right kind of surroundings. Our next outing is the DEERS Christmas party at The East Room on Saturday (21st November) from 10pm till late. DJs on the night are Bread & Honey owners Laurent C & Laurent R, Dave Kendrick and Adam Whitaker.

Word has it that Angelina Jolie is taking steps to adopt a child from Syria. (Rumor also has it this is a solo venture. Does that imply she and Brad are breaking up? A topic for another day.)

If she succeeds, the new kid will join Maddox, Pax, Zahara (the adopted Pitt-Jolies), Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne (the biologicals), and will send the celebrity rags into a tizzy! (Hey, it’s been a while since we got a new Pitt-Jolie.)

we have been to the beach many, many times since we’ve been married and before kids, and always to the generally same place. seagrove beach … with a few forays to other florida beaches. a frequent activity was seeing the sunsets. here is how it would usually go: we would leisurely walk out to the beach. we would be showered, clean and looking cute in our simple-enough-that-no-one-thinks-you-tried-but-stylish-enough-that-you-think-you-look-like-you-stepped-out-of-a-catalog beach wear. ha. we would set up chairs in plenty of time, have some drinks and snacks and soak in the quiet and the beauty as we were expecting to be served a beautiful sunset. after it, we would be amazed and glad, but sometimes critique the amount of haze, the not-as-vibrant color, etc. what a stark contrast to what we’ve more recently experienced.

on our trip, we had a real gift that involved the sunsets. as stated in the previous post, we had some cold weather and some rain so we had low expectations of beautiful weather and we had our two kids so we had low expectations of leisurely, relaxing time although i think we did a good job of having high expectations of memories. the 3rd-to-last night, we went out to the beach expecting more whining and not wanting to get on the sand by maddox and some fussiness by cora as it was “that time” of the evening. well, something clicked and everything changed. maddox met a new friend who was running around and he just started running and loving it. FINALLY. cora was also so happy watching.

as we were running around with maddox and thinking “THIS is what we were hoping for,” time passed quickly and all of a sudden, the sun was setting. we never dreamed we’d still be on the beach by sunset, but we just all of a sudden stopped and noticed it. maddox thought it was great. “BYE SUN! SEE YOU TOMORROW!” and in my opinion, it was literally the most gorgeous sunset we’ve ever seen there. not only were the sky and water crystal clear and full of vibrant colors, but it was unexpected. we were served this miracle of a day and of a moment without sitting there and waiting for it. maybe being there with our new kids made it top all the previous sunsets or maybe it was how unexpected it was. either way, what a gift. Lord, you make each day perfect and give it to us as a gift. may i look up and out from the details i get so consumed with and be aware of more. you are big and yet you’re here with me.

AND the capper is that we had almost identical evenings with the sunsets the next two nights. more gifts! here is a cute reminder of our last night’s sunset.

Maddox was a dead army soldier, Zahara was Batgirl and Shiloh was a jet fighter. No pictures of Pax and the twins didn’t come out.

The people from Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles, found themselves on Halloween as Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and their children, Zahara, Shiloh and Maddox beat at their doorstep.

Dressed in colorful costumes and wearing make-up, the Pitt-Jolie family came into the holiday spirit and went to gather candy with a pumpkin in their hand.

Brad Pitt was dressed in an orange suit, disguised as DJ Lance Rock from the famous children show “Yo GabbaGabba”. Angelina Jolie has chosen a more radical change. With gray hair and blood on one side of her face, the actress didn’t scare anyone, the contrary, was as attractive as always.

Most happy were the children, Zahara was disguised as Batman, Maddox, who loves guns, was dressed in military clothes, and Shiloh was a little zombie soldier.

WHEN … you never don any bathing suit whatsoever … the locals are wearing uggs and toboggans … you visit the community pool and the only thing getting in is the resident frog … you are trying to find a sunny spot and no shade … you are wearing 2 pairs of pants,  4 shirts and hoods … you’re drinking coffee outside … the only thing seen on the beach is your eyes … THEN YOU KNOW you are on vacation at the beach and it is FREEZING!

WHEN … you are on vacation at the beach and it is freezing but you don’t care … THEN YOU KNOW your kids are happy and that is so what matters to you.

we just got back from our first just-us vacation – no parents or extra helpers. brooke, david and thomas joined us for part of the time but since they have a 2 year old of their own, can you believe they were not dedicated to our beck and call?! we loved having extended time with them and especially for the cousins to have more time to play together than they ever have. it was truly special. THANK YOU, aunt b and uncle d, for lending us your condo and making this vacation possible! we wish you could have stayed longer!

so i exaggerated a little. it was only really cold for about 4 days of our week there. those days were spent with lots of toys inside as well as finding any and all playgrounds in the area. the boys loved that! the first and last days, we did put on shorts and had some great times at the beach. we will not forget:

> experiencing the most beautiful sunsets with our children the last 3 nights on the beach  > maddox praising the Lord at the top of the hill at alys beach playground (see video)  > thomas and maddox playing with each other and not just around each other  > cora having such happy times with her aunt b  > maddox getting his clock cleaned by a slide that he whapped his head on at the rosemary beach playground. he was flat on his back and did not move for what seemed like an eternity, but was FINE about 1 minute later. whew.  > maddox running, wrestling don and throwing sand on the beach after something clicked for him and he started loving it after … um … NOT loving it back in may. THIS is what i envisioned.  > cora following in her brother’s footsteps and getting her first taste of the beach (see video)  > uncle d reading green eggs and ham  > maddox sporting cora’s pants (think tight knickers) at a playground after wetting through his. what a perk of having a skinny 2 year old who doesn’t care what he’s wearing or that it’s 50 degrees outside.

- Brad jest przebrany za gospodarza programu dla dzieci, rozbrajają mnie jego wisiorki przyczepione do brody (już coś takiego miał w 2002 roku). Ze spodni wystaje mu różowa szmatka Shiloh

- Angelina i Maddox jako zombies wyglądają cool, szczególnie fajny jest kolor ich włosów i sztuczna krew na twarzy i bluzce Angeliny. Wydaje mi się, że widzę Paxa na pierwszym zdjęciu – idzie tuż za Angeliną ubrany w mundur.

- Zahara jako Batman (BatGirl? ) wygląda kapitalnie, poza tym na pierwszym zdjęciu oczarowały mnie jej wielkie, piękne oczy i regularne rysy twarzy – wyrośnie z niej wspaniała dziewczyna!

- Shiloh najwyraźniej dalej ma fazę “tomboya” i wzorem braci ubrała się w mundur. Widzę na jej czapce skrzydełka, więc pewnie jest amerykańskim pilotem

- Nie wiem co Brad i Angie niosą w swoich szklaneczkach, ale myślę, że za ich poświęcenie należało im się wczoraj coś mocniejszego do picia

Will you be getting the H1N1 vaccine? Can they really make it mandatory? It feels like they are trying to force people using what else, scare tactics. It’s easy. When people are both scared, and in mass numbers, they’ll listen to whatever you tell them to do. Out of the 10,456 confirmed cases in Canada, 90-something have died. And just to put things in perspective.. The REGULAR flu kills 36,000 Americans every year, for reals yo. Nobody really panics about that, what’s up?

Honestly, my favorite smell in the world is clean baby hair. And while he might not be much of a baby any more I am not willing to quit using baby shampoo on my last little one just yet.

other fun we had this summer was borrowing a jumpy house for a couple weeks. lots of friends came over to play! here’s an excerpt of one of our beautiful summer days.
