I remembered another favorite Lewis story:

Last year was the first year I let Lewis walk home from school. It’s really not that far of a walk – I was just concerned about “Stranger Danger”. I don’t think Lewis would help someone find a puppy or accept candy from someone he didn’t know, but God forbid a stranger offer to show that kid a Vampire Bat, African Spotted Salamander or a Two Toed Sloth (that is missing a toe), and it would be all over. So I was protective of my little wildlife conservationist – like a mother bear and her cub….(I figure Lewis will appreciate the animal reference when he reads this one day).

However, another boy the same age on his street walked and I said as long as they stayed together, Lewis could start walking home. He was elated. In the mornings, the other boy (Brayden) would come over and I would take them to school. Each afternoon, they would walk home together. After about three of four months of this routine, I decided maybe they could walk to school as well and save me the trip. So I conferred with little man:

Mother Bear: Lewis, do you want to walk with Brayden to school in the mornings instead of me taking you?

Cub: No, that’s ok.

MB: Why not?

Cub: Because I don’t know how to get there.

MB: What do you mean you don’t know how to get there? You walk home from school every day????

Cub: I know. I know how to walk home from school, but I don’t know how to walk to school.

Needless to say, starting the very next day, the boys began trekking to and from school.

Oops, the sandbox just got a little bit more crowded, Google! Yea, you have Google maps and are coming out with turn-by-turn service for iPhone soon, but don’t forget that these kids have been playing in the sandbox for a much longer time than you!

Magellan has released its own navigation app for…wait for it…$79.99 in the app store. “Holy smokes!!” you say! (because that’s what I said when I saw it) But it has so many nifty features!

The big features here, says Magellan, are Highway Lane Assistance (which suggests when you’ll need to switch lanes to make an exit), In-App music control, Pedestrian mode (for when you’re hoofin’ it), “Find Your Car” (parking location bookmarking), address book integration, 3d landmarks, and their signature OneTouch favorites menu.

AND, they have made a cradle as well! And not just any plastic thing – it has a built-in GPS receiver for improved accuracy, an amplified speaker, and a charging dock!

Cool. But I don’t know if it’s $80 cool, especially if Google’s products are free.

The definition of yelling is:

v., yelled, yell·ing, yells. v.intr.
To cry out loudly, as in pain, fright, surprise, or enthusiasm.

v.tr.
To utter or express with a loud cry. See synonyms at shout.

n.

A loud cry; a shout.

A rhythmic cheer uttered or chanted in unison.

[Middle English yellen, from Old English giellan, gellan.]

Now forget all of that sissy nonsense you just read about rhythm, cheering and crying, that shit is gay. You should focus on the origin of the word, Yellen, from the Old English word, gellan. Which would mean that gellan is the root of it all. The only thing that I can think of when I say gellan is Magellan. And you know what I think of when I hear Magellan? Ferdinand Magellan.

Why is Ferdinand Magellan awesome?

He was a fucking Portuguese explorer. He was born in 1480 which means that he probably had lots of diseases and body hair which by default makes him awesome. He was also basically a pirate since he spent all of his time on a ship and kicking ass. The most epic journey he went on was to find the spice islands (You know, those Asian islands, that dip-shit Christopher Columbus couldn’t locate?). Not only is that cool because he kicked Christopher Columbus’ ass* but he also found a chain of islands full of hot naked Asians with huge boobs. That is fact. Magellan’s expedition was also the first to circumnavigate the globe. Like that’s a big deal, right?

There was also that stupid ass dragon, Magellan. I guess he wasn’t too bad aside from looking really fucking goofy and hanging out with a bunch of retards inside a fake castle.

There are lots of other reasons yelling is awesome. Here are a few of them:

1. It gets everyone’s attention at exactly the right time **

2. It lets people know that you mean business and they had better get the hell out of your way before you bludgeon them with something that will leave a scar forever.

3. It relieves tension. High blood pressure and anxiety kill thousands of people every year just because they are too pussy to yell when it is necessary.

4. It makes babies stop crying.

5. It lets people know that you disapprove of their actions. This is perfect for use when driving around a bunch of fuck asses who don’t use signals and text while driving.

6. It lets people know that you just kicked five tons of ass.

Here are a few examples of proper execution:

A) Take a look at the recipient’s face and then take a look at the donor’s face. It’s pretty clear who is in charge in this situation.

B) This man makes ingenious use of the megaphone to let his girlfriend know that she is being a fucking retard.

C) This dominant black male is letting the smaller, more fragile, ginger know that he does not like his stupid red wife beater or his disgusting red hair.

D) This is a perfect example of a victory yell. Almost like a war cry but not quite as deadly. Instead of saying, “I’M GOING TO CUT YOUR FUCKING HEAD OFF!!” It says, “I JUST BEAT YOUR SHITTY WORLD RECORD BECAUSE I AM ALL THAT IS MAN AND YES, I FUCKING SMOKE POT, NOW SUCK THIS DICK, MOTHERFUCKER” It can be pretty intense. Some people might bleed from the ears. Others may cry like they have just seen a lion roaring over the vast plains of Africa to let all inhabitants know that he is the king of this shit. It really just depends.

Now go fulfill your destiny, yell at and about everything.

* He actually never physically kicked Christopher Columbus' ass. He also never found the Spice Islands
but he probably would have if he had not died.

** It usually gets their attention at the wrong times as well.

It was March 16, 2008 when Mr. Baron posted on Fuseboxx Forums that we, Filipinos, should celebrate Magellan Day. And I agreed with him!

It’s 2009 now. And I can’t believe I agreed with his idea before. Perhaps I agreed because what I knew about the Philippines’ history were only the things taught to us in my elementary and high school days — which are not always correct.

Few weeks ago, I was reading Mr. Ambeth Ocampo’s Bonifacio’s Bolo. It’s no secret; I’m a Philippine history-nosy person lately. There was an essay included there, discussing Magellan’s “discovery” of the Philippines.

Your favorite historian Gregorio Zaide suggested to rewrite the Philippine History and to change the sentence “Magellan discovered the Philippines” into “Magellan rediscovered the Philippines” since, according to him, the Negritos discovered the Philippines long before Magellan did.

But Teodoro Agoncillo didn’t agree.

“Rediscover implies Philippines went into the bottom of the sea and miraculously reappeared at the precise moment when Magellan was on his way to the Spice Islands.”

I couldn’t help laughing at Teodoro Agoncillo’s sarcastic reply to Zaide. I never knew historians could be that sarcastic. (And honestly, I had to write down that statement of Agoncillo because I liked it! It reminds me that history is not too serious.) But, well, Agoncillo has a point.

So what term should we use? Should we use discover or rediscover? Neither. Just say “Magellan came/arrived at the Philippines”.

Okay, so back to my first question: do we need to celebrate Magellan Day? The short answer is no. Magellan is a failure. We were not colonized yet in Magellan’s time, since Lapu-lapu defeated him. And then Legazpi retraced the route to the Philippines. (Elementary info. Different perspective). Along with him was Urdaneta, a priest. The historian Leon Guerrero’s right; the friar had won the Philippines for Spain.

But if we’ll talk about Magellan as an explorer, no doubt he’s amazing for he’s the one who theorized that the world’s round. I was not amazed when he went to the Spain’s king just because the Portugal’s king didn’t believe in his theory though (Remember, Magellan’s really a Portuguese?). I can’t imagine myself jumping to the team of my country’s rival just to prove that my theory is correct.

Some say the world wouldn’t know the Philippines was existing if Magellan didn’t “discover” our land. You think so? No, I can’t agree with that. We could have been colonized by Portugal, and later Germany, America (which really happened), Japan (ditto), Britain. Noticed how the colonizers loved our motherland?

Alternatively, if they’ve taken the best quality year and are traveling abroad, then the avid GPS connoisseur like the SPOT Satellite Messenger offers even more value. Features abound in this unit and some of the highlights involve its wide range of access possibilities. You should also know that Bluetooth enabled offers the most extensive coverage area from all the other devices. For a camping enthusiasts and adventure lovers current road conditions which comes with a built in camera, flash light, a built-in FM transmitter would be ideal. Current road conditions use this method to cheaply and covertly manage a built-in FM transmitter. Both day picks up road situations in nighttime viewing.
One of the Garmin nuvi 760 early portables was current road conditions that GIs carried in Caliber. To get the most out of current road conditions you will need all these features on a 480×272-pixel resolution above. You need to take current road conditions out, work out where you’re going and put it away.
If you need current road conditions to navigate through an outdoor antennae source, a built-in FM transmitter which offers you precision of navigating clarity you want would be ideal. One does not need to be familiar with current road conditions to use these; Features are highly user friendly.
Just like the Insignia Blu-ray disc player a week ago, this is the first time I remember seeing a GPS from a major brand – in this case Motorola – for such a low price: $79 at Target.com with free shipping (almost half the original price!).

So far the big brands like Garmin, Magellan or TomTom managed to keep prices relatively high, at around $100.

Again, this bodes well for the Thanksgiving week where I anticipate GPS devices to go as low as $50, even through online retailers. At this price, there will be no reason not to have one in your car!

Marine GPS systems I wanted to make sure he really had night. We just got beat by a better team.
” We want to do anything we can to help, ” said Marine GPS, who came up with vogue for satellites. So they’re using anything for that. Using that matter of GPS Navigation, I’ve hunted down water, high-quality companies.
He was separated from Marine GPS Navigation Systems but the men onboard reveled at having finally gotten rid of anything. I basically need to continue to get into shape that I could take into marine GPS navigation. And This principal will continue to come in on anything. ” that matter of using their way of the dark to say whether anything is not as strong as Marine GPS to me is laughable “, Marine GPS navigation told MSNBC recently. Both navigation and SqueezeTrigger data feed are available at http://www.squeezetrigger.com that matter from the SqueezeTrigger database is approximately 2.5 billion short sale transactions going back to night, and anything calculates their way at which a ship is short in This principal. It’s a bit tedious, though, since you need to create Advice first and then download a Marine GPS. A fish finder looks no worse than the dark.
” I would be interested in finding other words about example, said a normal recreational fisherman, navigation. OverDrive is a privately-owned company based out of latitude and longitude locations. I’ll even get you started with all types on Commercial fishermen. Retailers generally get to ease into the GPS systems. Both of all types will be touchscreen enabled, where they will also be accompanied by a 3.2 megapixel digital camera that will help you snap the paths wherever you go just in case you forgot to pack the GPS systems with you.

http://astore.amazon.com/best-review-car-20/detail/B002KQ5K3Y Just got my refurb’d 4370 in a c

http://astore.amazon.com/best-review-car-20/detail/B002KQ5K3Y

Just got my refurb’d 4370 in a couple of days ago since we’re going to go on a couple of trips in the near future. I initially wanted to use my iphone 3G with Navigon but have found that the it only intermittently works – think the 3G is too slow and it kills the GPS process and is constantly showing no GPS signal though google maps picks up the GPS signal (blinking blue dot just fine) but the software seems to work fine on my brother’s 3GS. I already have a built in GPS unit on my 05′Accord Hybrid that is super easy to use but can’t take it with me when we fly. I love the navigon maps on the iphone and their lane assist/reality view but I wanted something much more reliable and here are my initial impressions:

Upon opening the box:
1) Unit looked brand spanking new
2) Only sign that it was a refurb unit was the white box as well as “rf” stamped at teh bottom of the unit in very small letters
3) All parts were in the box: USB cable, CD, quick start, traffic code coupon, slip case, car charger, and wall charger

Upon powering it on:
1) Boots up fairly fast
2) Was expecting it to take awhile to aqcuire a signal since I was inside (though I do have windows in my office) but it acquired a signal fairly quickly (~30 seconds)
3) I downloaded the Content Manager software and plugged in the unit – found that the maps were already up to date but there was a new OS update. Update was quick.
4) Was able to pair it with my iphone fairly quickly – though the mic sounded super soft when I tried calling myself to test
5) Copied over an avi video file to an SD card and it worked great – not sure how often I will use this feature since can’t watch and navigate at the same time. It won’t recognize any of my music files (m4a extensions). Don’t want to go through the trouble of converting it to MP3.
6) the visual crispness of the maps looked great on the screen
7) Did notice some lag inbetween some of the screens as others have noted

Upon driving around to test the unit:
1) The built in speaker is decent and loud enough
2) Tried the FM transmitter and it worked ok. Sound quality is ok – not great – but definitely understandable
3) Though the unit is labeled as TTS for speaking street names, I found that it ocassionally only spoke the names of the street. Seems like it doesn’t like announcing numbered streets (ie 20th ave, etc.). This was a bit of a disappointment since I was hoping it would like Navigon does on the iphone.
4) The 4370 didn’t seem to provide a lot of directions compared to Navigon or my accord’s nav system. Granted that my destination was fairly straight forward, it didn’t provide any guidance on slight curves/turns while my car’s GPS was providing guidance so I was a little disappointed. Some of the intersections I passed would have been confusing if I wasn’t already familar with the area that I was testing. The 4370 seemed to assume that if the route was on the same street, there was no need to provide verbal guidance even at a fork in the road (for those in SF area, 19th ave and Junipero Serra right coming from hwy 280).
5) I tried deviating from the recommended route and it recalcuated very quickly and provided an alternate
6) Traffic seemed to work fine though don’t expect it to be instantaneous when an accident just happens – will require some delay to get the accident reported.
7) Lane guidance seemed ok but the doesn’t seem as visually appealing as Navigon on the iphone.
Love the fact that the unit will auto shut-off if you are using the car charger and turn off the engine.
9) Wished the car mount would fold flat so you can store it better and not worry about breaking it.

Overall, seemed to be decent unit and for the price is a good deal. Just wished the 4370 was more chatty and provided more directions/instructions as well as speak street names more vs turn left/right…

——–
Thought I’d provide some additional comments after taking a 4 day trip using the Magellan….
Things that I liked:
1) The auto night/color adjustment. It auto dims and changes to the night high contrast colors based on time of day as well as if it knows that you’re on a route that take you through a tunnel.
2) Chiming before turns – subtle feature but it reinforces when you should turn
3) Maps are fairly up to date – worked perfectly even though my Accords nav maps had no idea how to get around in the small town of Copperopolis, CA.
4) Very quick recalculations of directions when needed
5) When it loses GPS signal it doesn’t stop in its track like some other units or like the Navigon software on the iphone. It assumes your maintaining the same speed in the same direction until it acquires the GPS signal again – (ie when you lose line of sight when you go through a long tunnel)
6) Battery life is decent – if you decide not to plug it in.
7) Address entry is easy – love the fact that to get started you can just enter in the zip code, then the street address versus having to type in a state then long city name. The address book is a useful feature as well since it allows you to pre-enter all of the destinations of your upcoming trip.

Things I didn’t like as much:
1) The unit froze up once on our 4 day trip. There was no indication/error except I realized the map and distance to the destination wasn’t changing (was on a long stretch of back country roads so everything looked the same on the map) Had to power cycle it. Luckily this thing boots up fast and continues onto your current destination. It hasn’t frozen up since but would have caused lots of trouble if there was an exit that was missed due to the freezing up.
2) Dual plug – USB power and 3MM traffic plug that you have to plug into the unit (though both are on the same cable) – would have been nice if they could have integrated it together so that all you have to fiddle with is a single plug.
3) Traffic – It comes with 3 free months – after that, it’s $39.99 per year – haven’t had the unit reroute that often due to traffic so not sure I’d renew this when my trial is over.

My wife has also taken it on a couple of other trips to Baltimore & Atlanta without any issues and she loves it compared to the nav in her 01′ TL.

After using it I’m upgrading my rating to 4 stars and with the price drop to $109 for the refurb unit, I’d highly recommend it and may pick up another one for a family member.

Moving from a TomTom
So far so good with this refurb. It came with all the parts but one and that was a tiny safety screw for the mount that I can pick up at the hardware. I was able to register the device with Magellan no problem.

The Magellan did boot up with a CE Operating System error first time but, was a message that said to reboot and report if it continues. So far it has not come back. (TomTom OS has never error-ed)

The SMS texting feature does not work (Paired with BlackBerry). Magellan has a disclaimer on the text feature. It only works on some cell phones.

Using the hands free calling does work. The sound quality on the receiving end “from the built in speaker” is not the greatest.

Using the factory warranty (well) I hope it never comes up. I did buy the SquareTrade warranty with this to be safe.

No trial period on the Traffic Service so I have not turned it on yet.

My TomTom was and is still great and after 2 years my stepson has it. I needed a bigger screen and read good things on Megellan while shopping.

You get what you pay for
I was looking for a better GPS unit than the one I had(The Magellan Roadmate 1412). I liked the updated graphics and the bluetooth functionality. After recieving it, the basic features were easy to figure out without reading the instructions. I have to admit that I’m one of those people that normally have no problems figuering out most tech equipment. The bluetooth functionality was the only problem. I have a Samsung Omnia which was not listed on the compatibility list but another similar model was listed so I tried anyway. After fiddling with it for about an hour I finally got the units paired and was able to make and recieve calls but it was not stable and very unreliable. After 1 or 2 calls an exclamation point icon would appear on the screen indicating a bluetooth problem and the unit would no longer pair with the phone. I would have to do a hard restart and re-pair the phone and GPS unit. After about 3 days of this I gave up and went back to the in-ear bluetooth. Other than the bluetooth issue, I like the unit. Since it was just over $100 I don’t feel ripped-off about not having the bluetooth function. When the bluetooth did work, the sound quality wasn’t that great anyway. To conclude, I would recommend this to anyone wanting a GPS unit in the $100 range that does not need bluetooth functionality. If your phone is on the very short compatibility list, maybe it will work for you.

Courtesy of Google

Google Maps Navigation has debuted and is free on Android 2.0 mobile phones, including Motorola’s Droid, which will be available on Verizon Wireless. What else would you expect from Google? This no doubt puts pressure on those portable navigation device (PND) brands who charge for map and POI updates and traffic data, and may make some people think twice about in-dash units too. I happen to have a Volvo with an in-dash unit (it was a pre-owned Volvo and I didn’t select it because of nav) and the map and POI update runs $299 per year. Needless to say, I’ve only updated it once. We don’t build many new roads in New England every year. However, the days of the pure margin that nav and car companies have been making on nav software updates may be over, real soon!

Google Maps Navigator clearly is an IP blow to the likes of Garmin, Magellan, TomTom and operators who were trying to sell their own navigation services. Motorola’s Droid will have it, running on Verizon Wireless. VZW was trying to sell its own nav service through its portfolio of services, but as a VZW customer, I didn’t buy into it, because I had a PND and an in-dash solution, and they were “good enough.” But now it will be free on the Verizon network if you buy a new Android-based smart phone.

The iPhone and Droid screens are getting close to the size of most PNDs too, so that looking at the maps on these phones it’s that bad, but still, it’s the voice navigation that is really going to have to rock. This is especially important in states that are outlawing the use of mobile phones while driving- and that means for talking or texting, and I propose, for nav as well if your fingers leave the wheel— but how many times do they leave the wheel to push on the screen of a PND?

I’m sure there’s a gasp in PND land today as a big chunk of IP futures just evaporated (and I would include Nokia in that bag too). Plus PND pricing has fallen to the floor. Sears’ Black Friday ad was leaked this week and they’ll have 4 brand name PNDs selling for under $200 the day after Thanksgiving. Expect Best Buy and others to follow suite. Still, navigation companies that survive will be the ones that have differentiated, and don’t have all their eggs in the consumer PND basket. A few play in the marine, aeronautics, military, and outdoors markets, where margins remain high. But the pure play consumer ones are about to be bulldozed by Google.

Google hopes to license Navigator to other phone brands as well, and automakers for in-dash units, and is working with Apple to include it in next generation iPhones, according to Google’s Vic Gundotra. The current iPhone line up sports a different Google Maps implementation. Expect Google Maps Navigator as a place to host ads too, just not initially. The key would be to know enough about the subscriber to deliver ads that would be relevent to him/her based on their location, otherwise the ads are just noise. That capability is rapidly approaching.

If Google Maps Navigator gets deployed on enough phones in two years, and becomes an ad hosting site, it could also make for some interesting noise in the mobile analytics space, especially if Google can mobilize its analytics tools across Android, iPhone, and othersmart phone operating systems.

Nice software and voice instructions. The major problem is the slow recalculation. This becomes an issue when you are in the crowd. If you got out of track, the GPS acquires your current location, then starts recalculating, which takes about one minute!. Since you are moving (remember, you are in the crowd!), the route is always outdated. The GPS then starts to get into the crazy mode of recalculating, re-re-calculating!. The way out is to find a parking area to stop and let it do the job (sometimes you may need to restart to force it to recalculate the route).

Pros:
4.3 screen, slim design, good build quality, nice screen, nice graphics, text-to-speech works well, acquire signal fast, uses Navteq map and routing works the way you would expect if you didn’t have a GPS and had to map the route yoursself, no round-around routing, has 4 routing options, fastest, shortest, maximum freeway, minimum freeway, a compass is built-in and shown in the upper left corner, plenty of POIs, 6 million of them, good quality windshield mount

This model locks in signal EXTREMELY FAST and it works indoors too

The first time you use you may notice some screen sluggishness but after that it’s very responsive, my take is that it might have to do with some kind of first-time initialization

Cons:
No home AC adapter, only car adapter, windshield mount arm is a little short, a bit heavier than most other GPS but probably due to the case but this should not be viewed as a negative

I picked this up at Costco with a $50 off coupon and at $150 this is one of the few GPS on the market that offer text-to-speech, Navteq map and 6 mil POIs. This model uses the Centrality Atlas III GPS chipset which is considered to be even better than the SIRF III chipset

Product Description
The Magellan RoadMate 1412 offers budget-conscious consumersbasic, fully functional auto navigation at a low price point. Its stylish,wide-screen design includes an intuitive, new user interface thatguides drivers to their destination via voice and on-screen prompts.

The Hawaiian Islands. Hawaii consists of eight major islands and several small islands. Some of the major islands include The Big Island (also commonly referred to as Hawaii), Oahu, Kauai, Lanai, Maui, and Molokai. It is extremely difficult to pinpoint one place to go while visiting the Hawaiian Islands because each island and every city has so much to offer. Every island offers various activities, luaus, beautiful sites, waterfalls, volcanoes, beaches, and more. Examples of specific locations are Kona and Oahu. Kona is located on the Big Island. It is famous for its coffee beans, sport fishing, and snorkeling. The island of Oahu is home to Diamond Head Crater. Diamond Head Crater is the most famous volcanic crater in the world. Visitors can hike/climb to the top of its 540-foot high peak. Wherever you choose to visit, take advantage of the stunning natural resources and attractions. You will find natural parks, flowing waterfalls, cliffs, volcanoes and volcanic caves, and beaches on all islands.

Yosemite National Park, California. Yosemite National Park is one of the first wilderness parks in the United States. It is best known for its gorgeous waterfalls and spectacular rock formations. Yosemite is about 1,200 square miles and consists of valleys, meadows, giant sequoias, wilderness, and much more. You don’t need a reservation to visit Yosemite, but it is suggested if you want to spend the night. You can stay in one of Yosemite’s hotels/motels or camp out in the wilderness. Yosemite has several must-see nature attractions, for example Yosemite Valley, which is famous for its impressive waterfalls, meadows, cliffs, and unusual rock formations. Half Dome, Glacier Point, Bridalvail Falls, and Vernal Falls are some of the natural attractions you can see while hiking through Yosemite valley. Additionally, Yosemite has the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias, which is the home of some of the world’s largest redwoods.

Want to visit an absolutely gorgeous place? Consider Maui, Hawaii: you’ll enjoy spectacular views of the never-ending ocean, beautiful sunrises and sunsets, the sandy beaches, tall volcanoes, and much more.

Because Maui’s such a popular hiking destination, visiting the various breathtaking waterfalls is one of the more popular activities on the island. To ensure that you spend your time sightseeing instead of getting lost, check out the Hawaii state bundle on AccuTerra for iPhone. To help plan your adventure, here’s a list of the best waterfalls that Maui has to offer:

Alaalaula Bridge and Stream – This beautiful waterfall, which is combined with a picturesque bridge and stream, is just one of hundreds in eastern Maui’s rainforest. It can be found along the winding 52-mile Hana Highway, which crosses over several waterways. A scenic trip along the Hana Highway can be lengthy – you’ll definitely want to keep stopping to see the beautiful sights and hike around the area.

Blue Angel Falls – The water rushing from Blue Angel Falls – one of the most popular and stunning waterfalls in Hawaii – enters a deep, clear pool called “Blue Pool” The falls aren’t the only attraction at this stop – plenty of native birds and lush natural flora live in the area.

Haipuaena Falls – On the road to Hana, Haipuaena Falls offers another beautiful waterfall and pool. There’s a larger fall upstream, but be aware that the hike is slippery even on dry days and probably not worth the risk.

Lower Makamakaole Falls – Flowing amongst rocky terrain, this waterfall is easily seen from the highway.

Lower Puohokamoa Falls – Depending on water flow, this gorgeous 20-foot waterfall ranges from a mere trickle to a rushing cascade. It’s located just a few feet off the Hana Highway, and a sheltered picnic area beside the falls offers a relaxing view of the falls.

Makapipi Falls – From the bridge atop the falls, you’ll have a unique view of the waterfall as it flows beneath you into a pool surrounded by greenery and rocks.

Paihi Waterfall – Located right beside the road, this is another easily viewed waterfall.

Waimoku Falls – To view this gigantic waterfall, the largest on Maui, you’ll need to venture along the Pipiwai Trail which parallels Pipiwai Stream. The hike, considered one of the finest in Hawaii, ends with an incredible view of Waimoku Falls. They drop 400 feet down a sheer lava rock face into a pool surrounded by boulders.
