Welcome back to Magick for the Real World!

It has been a long time since I wrote a regular blog here, and I’m hoping that I can again entertain and inform a few people with my thoughts and ramblings. I’ve experimented with a lot of other media in the past year and a half, and have again returned to my writing’s origin here at wordpress.com

The blades and bowls lay in the dying light, rusting not the from the air around them, but from the lack of care and use of their spiritual owner. The stones no longer glow with life and energy; they have taken on the look of the dead earth of winter. They long for their master and friend. How has this happened?

It is a common occurrence for everyday life to come between a magician and his magickal practice. Children are born, family emergencies happen, and jobs get hectic. The magician usually is slowly called back to the craft whether internally or by external stimulation, but sometimes this return can take months and even years. It is only in the recent past that I was called back to my magickal practices and when I looked at my stones, blades, and other tools I found them to be foreign, almost as though they were not mine. I felt as though I had never had the soul-bond that I had felt for so long. I had no idea that this bond could ever be weakened or broken. These were the tools that helped me to attain my spiritual identity and power. I looked at them as friends and have now found that they were much more than that; they were as much a part of me as my arms and legs.

I am not sure exactly what the importance of this is, but I know that there is a revelation to be had from this experience. Obviously, it is important to maintain your personal connection with spiritual tools for them to be effective in any of your pursuits, much like a soldier must carefully oil and clean his weapon daily. I had never realized how much of a spiritual process this could be. The soldier is bound to his weapon for survival, and the magician is bound to his weapons of the spiritual plane for his power and survival as a spiritual warrior.

For many years, I had always believed that the magick was solely in the magician and that the tools allowed the magician to enter into another state more easily. I have had to reconsider these beliefs after experiencing the intense sadness when I realized I had forsaken these pieces of my soul. Though it is hard to believe, it was as intense a sadness as the loss of a loved one. This should not be the case if they are merely tools for my metaphysical advancement.

So where does this actually place the tools and weapons of the magician? Does the soldier weep for a destroyed weapon? Does the carpenter mourn the loss of a good saw or hammer? The soldier depends on his gun and knife for survival, but I doubt that he would weep if it were replaced. The carpenter depends on his tools for his craft, but he will easily replace one if it begins to grow ineffective, and rarely cares for them as the magician cares for his tools.

It seems more and more apparent that the wand and chalice are more than simple tools for a purpose. The energy that passes through them brings about a change in them. They become alive with the constant life-force passing through them. The magician’s place in the web of life becomes intertwined with these seemingly life-less objects, possibly giving them a life of their own. Or possibly, the alchemical idea that when a spirit is evolving, all of the world around him/her evolves as well. It could also be possible that all things have a life to them, and that through the energetic workings of the magician that the item awakens. Whatever the case, it seems that the tools become alive in the process of the magician’s practices.

So what exactly does this mean? The tools are alive, but how does that affect the magician? That’s the real discussion question. It could mean all sorts of things. Can the tools guide the magician? Can the athame show the magician how more effectively create a magickal circle? Would the magician even know that this was happening, or would it seem to be an intuitive leap by the magician? How many times has this happened to any given magician? Can the tools become angry? Can they purposely refuse to work? Can they do their own magick to protect or hurt?

Since the end of 2004, I’ve done holiday greetings for both Psycho Bunny and Babalon Babes. At first I had sent these as hard copies, but in 2008 I decided to post them online instead (via email and social networking sites like Facebook.)

Since early spring of 2009, I’ve submitted various Babalon Babes illustrations to writer Adam Golightly’s blog. A few of these pieces have been featured as “Devil Girl of the Month.”

The Primordial Image: Archetypes

“A ’standard description’ of an archetype (as a concept) is: ‘Archetypes are deep enduring patterns of thought and behavior laid down in the human psyche, which remain powerful over long periods of time and transcend cultures and generations. Archetypes form the basis of instinctive patters of behavior that all of humankind shares in common.’

Most people know the common Archetypes (the ‘fundamental personalities’) : such as The Mother, The Hero, The Tyrant, The Lovers, The Child, and so on. But like many other terms which have been adopted by modern western spiritual paths (such as the concept of ‘Karma’) the Archetype is a much more expansive subject than it is usually given credit for.

On considering what the term Archetype can really offer when it is applied to Wicca and Initiatory Craft, we need to first look at what the pioneering psychologist Carl Jung really meant when he coined the term, ‘Archetype’. When Jung first came up with the concept, he named what we now call the ‘Archetype’ the Primordial Image, a phrase that he first used in his essay, ‘Instinct and the Unconscious’. 

When he started his ‘modern quest for the soul’, Jung turned to classical mythology to explain his insights – because he realized that the stories within the mythology explained his concept quite nicely as reflections of the human experience – together with other ‘gateways to the unconscious’ such as dreams, rituals, and the use of art and symbols. In this way, he identified the power of mythology as (what could be described as) both a ‘key’ and a ‘mirror’ for the journey of the soul.”

We have heard his stories, of all the miracles and wonders that he brought into the world, His healing powers, prophetic abilities and magical skills are well known.

Jesus Christ seems to have been an extremely good witch, a magickal human who had tremendous wisdom and consciousness. If those tales are true it seems that he used his power of consciousness to create a change, to awaken the masses, to see the future,  and to show and lead by example. 

Legend says that he was sacrificed…and it is also known that so many alleged witches have been framed and murdered through time for being courageous, self driven, focused…why… just because they chose their own beliefs and used their own inner spiritual powers instead of going as per the dictates of others?

Following the path of Christ is about following the inner self. Instead of merely worshiping and remembering such great masters we must try to be like them, to learn the ways of the healers, to be enlightened, to work with the angels and unseen beings of nature, to prophecise and see the future, to perform divination and magick, to create a more positive state of being for ourselves, facilitating that for others, creating more beauty, peace and joy in this world, to be in balance, to maintain the balance of nature…Then we will truly be in the energy of God(dess).

We may celebrate his birthday today in many ways but it will be incomplete if we did nothing to invoke our inner light as that is what God(ess) is truly all about. 

Whether we attend a sacred ceremony, meditate, perform a spell, spend time in nature, or simply be in the energy of truth, we must know that the light of the world is being born within us in this very moment… as we spend some time with our-Self discovering the magick within us all.

My Yule prayer for 2010

I pray that individuals in the world will awaken to the higher vibrations of spirituality and see all religions are connected.

I pray that people of the world wake up and realize that vast amounts of profit, greed and struggle to survive is not the purpose of life, and together we can make life work for each individual on the planet, that everyone has the right to be clothed, fed, housed, and to live in peace.

I pray that individuals will empower themselves and each other to recognize their own inner authority and not be slaves to false masters.

That people realize that their mind/body/soul has the healing power and magick power to manifest the law of abundance, the law of fairness, the law of unlimited potential.

I pray that a great shift happen on the planet, in the name of love, with the will of each person, looking for unity, peace, and respect and sharing that and giving it to each other.

I pray that the media will transform, the entertainment, the video games of the planet would shift away from violence and gossip, one-up-man ship into personal growth and development, the mystical and magickal powers of dreaming, the acceleration of intelligence, and the security of working together to make this world a sacred place, by respecting each others sacred space.

I think this is a question that people should think about because it has gotten several connotations over the years and is, in my personal opinion, often used misleadingly.  Now, I love logic, even more than science and math so would it surprise you that I have been studying the use of magick for quite a long time?  I’m going to hazard a guess that it does surprise you.  Science says that magic doesn’t exist (if you noticed the slight spelling difference, we only add the ‘k’ to separate our idea of magick from the sleight of hand magic), right? so why would I, a strong believer in science, believe that magick works? (Well, actually I know)  Simple.  Logic is first and foremost more important to me.

Of course, I don’t just believe that something works without perceiving it working with my senses but I am definitely more open to the possibility because of my strong belief in logic.  A lot of people will see something with their own eyes, hear it, smell it, feel it, taste it and then say “Oh, that couldn’t have happened, it defies logic”.  Ummm, logic is what says that something must have happened if you perceived it with your senses.  It’s not that hard yet people regularly abuse the concept of logic.  If I get a scratch and it really hurts for a day, then I get another scratch and rub it with my bloodstone, to find that it only hurts for 5 minutes; logic says to me that the only possibly variable that could have caused a different result was the bloodstone rubbing my cut.

Yes, the scientific community has not ‘proved’ the existence of magick but the thing about science is that it is defined by logic, not the other way around, and logic is what proves the existence of something.  Therefore, science may say that something doesn’t exist when logic shows it does.

Just something that’s been tumbling around in my head lately.

Humans consider themselves to be more intelligent, more evolved than other creatures of earth. I have come across certain spiritualists who believe that their being human is such a gift because ‘they are so much more spiritually evolved’. Many believers in reincarnation actually state that human life is the highest possible level of reincarnation on earth and it is through this that we attain the so called higher state of ‘liberation’.

It is true that humans are biologically more evolved, being the most dense, physically and mentally more complex species on earth.

Biological evolution and spiritual evolution however are two different things.

Biological evolution can be termed as spiritual ‘involution’. All matter has evolved from its original spirit form. Spirit, energy, chi, prana, shakti is life and it is the essence and original state of everything that exists (both the living and so called ‘non living’). Energy has ‘condensed’ to become what we see as matter. This is a scientific fact and a peek into quantum physics will help us understand this.

Becoming more and more complex from our original, simple, ‘unity’ state of existence – this is the process of involution.

As nature becomes more and more complex, spiritual vibrations become denser and denser, more and more complex forms of life evolve as spirit gets ‘involved’ in the play of existence. We become physically more complicated, mentally more complicated, hence highly ‘intelligent’ humans.

Animals (read other animals as humans are a part of the animal world scientifically speaking), are less biologically evolved and less mentally complicated. They are closer to the spiritual self.

Plants are even closer to the spiritual self. Minerals, crystals, rocks are close too as they have fewer complexities.

Earth (solid matter), Water, Fire, Air, are all closer to Spirit in that order.

Spiritual evolution refers to the process of us (complex human forms) becoming more and more attuned to our original essence of spirit, this means to simplify ourselves, be more natural, more scientifc, which means more spiritual.This is also ‘Shedding our Huge Human Ego’. Humans need to meditate to get rid of mental chatter and to be in touch with their simple self. Other beings of nature need this much lesser than humans do.

In the quest for achieving spiritual liberation humans have created religion. Religion is another name for shared spiritual belief system…. and there are so many variations of these belief systems… each eager to prove its superiority and establish its dominance. All these religions are untimately based on stories, books, myths and mythologies. Science and common sense urge us to understand that these myths, stories, books and mythlogies contain just lessons for us to learn, rather than facts. There is truth within them, even though they may not be exactly factual.

The fact is that all myths, customs, rites have evolved from nature. In the beginning humans observed nature and its phenomena. Sun, moon, tides, storms, lightning, rain and so on. These were all honoured as deities and as they started responding to the wishes and thoughts of humans they began to understand what magick is really all about. Every aspect of nature began to assume a deity form, animals, birds and even human. We prayed to the gods of rains for rainfall, sun for warmth, and so on.

As religion evolved into more complex forms in line with the biological and mental evolution of man, we went out of step with spirituality and nature. We forgot that all modern myths and mythologies in all modern religions have originally evolved from nature worship.

For example – what we celebrate as Christmas or birth of Jesus Christ in December was originally celebrated as Winter solistice. Around this time each year we witness the longest night and the shortest day of the year, after which days begin to grow longer and longer. This is the peak of winter and the Sun god is at its weakest dying stage, and soon as the solstice ends, Sun is born again and slowly gains power as the wheel of the year turns. This is also called Yule and originally being a nature festival that symbolised the rebirth of sun was celebrated with evergreen trees, holly and mistletoe being symbols of the cycle of death and rebirth, popcorn garlands and decorations were warpped around trees to keep the ‘tree spirits’ warm. Such a beautiul way to celebrate the magick and mystery of nature – and most of us who celebrate Christmas don’t even know that.

Gods and goddesses that are visualised as having human form are actually all originally just aspects of nature. Thunder and lightning (Zeus, Indra), male god (sun, Lugh, Mithra, Aditya, Vishnu, all versions of male ‘God’ deity in modern religions such as Christianity), female goddess (moon, Astarte, Diana, Hecate, Artemis, most female deities that are conspicous by their absence in modern patriarchial religions). The lists of gods and goddesses may be endless but they are all forms of nature and should ideally help us be more and more aligned with our natural self.

Air, Fire, Water, Earth, Plants, Animals and all other beings of nature are more in tune with their essence, their spirituality than humans who falsely believe themselves to be superior. They are all far more at ease with themselves, their intuition, their ablity to ‘be’, their basic needs and desires than most humans who have created way too much stress and complication in their lives and are seeking a way to escape this through one of two extremes:

First extreme – the path of asceticism, meditation to the extent of losing their basic ‘grounding’ or practicality, celibacy, to a less extent vegetarianism, Jainism, veganism and fasting to a greater extent denial of food and water, relenquishing pleasure while being misfits in society and deeply unhappy within.

The second extreme – Overindulgence in the life process, drugs, addictions, poly-amourism (multiple partners – no committment), maximising pleasure, numbing themselves to pain while being deeply unhappy within.

A lot of so called spiritualists I have observed acually fall in one of the above two categories. I have actually found them to be broken, sorry people who are in real need of healing but their spiritual egos keep them far from accepting their natural truth.

Thankfully to help us achieve this we have Science.

As we learn to observe nature (which is the essence of science) we try to discover facts and move away from myths. We learn the language of nature and its laws. We learn how all matter is composed of vibrations that are altered through the power of consciousness. Through scientific experimentation we have discovered that there is ‘Magick’ and what we really focus on condenses from spirit to matter, from imagination to reality, E=mc square etc… – a fact that witches and mystics have known all along and ‘new age’ gurus have finally ‘exposed’ as the Secret.

We finally learn that all we really need to be is our simple, humble, natural self. This means our intuitive, spiritual, scientific, magickal self.

Imagine if we all were in tune with this part of us, with our essence.

Imagine a world where we are in perfect harmony and sync with nature, its bounty, its beauty.

A world in which we use our common sense and scientific understanding of the world to discover its facts and our natural intuition to discover their underlying truth, instead of being brainwashed by modern religious leaders into following what they claim to be the ultimate concept of ‘God’.

A world where we realise that we are biologically well evolved as humans but need to spiritually evolve – which means to go back to our natural simple, intuitive, magickal state of being.

A world in which we are truly happy, abundant, enlightened and peaceful because whatever we want and desire is manifesting each moment by the way of natural Magick and it is scientific – and real – and good. We use it only for good and never to harm, because we know that we do not want to harm anyone if we truly wish to achieve peace, joy and happiness – purity of intent – Satva-yuga!

For a couple of years now, one of the techniques that I’ve been happy to be experimenting with is one called Emotional Freedom Technique ( E.F.T. , for short).

EFT is a process of combining affirmations with tapping on points on your energy meridians to clear negative beliefs, emotions, fears and phobias. It’s easy to learn, quick and easy to do,and very effective

Personally, I’ve found it incredibly helpful and effective for releasing”old luggage” that I wanted to let go of  but somehow couldn’t release (and as someone born on the cusp of Cancer and Leo, I don’t let go of anything easily ). I’ve also seen video of its effectiveness in releasing military post traumatic stress disorder and swimming phobia.

Because it’s worked so well for me, I’ve been delighted to recommend it to other people who needed to let go of things. Sigh. This is good stuff that’s helped a lot of people and could help a lot more. I understand, however, that the work’s become  overwhelming to him, and health problems are forcing him to close down. I’m just glad that I learned EFT when I did.

The bad news is that Gary Craig’s EFT site is closing down on 1/15/10. The good news is that it will remain open until then. I know that it’s the holidays and folks are busy, but I’d urge you to dash over to www.emofree.com and make EFT part of your life while theres still time.

So clearly I study the occult. But I very seldom use it. I can’t help wonder why, if I have all these spells and such that could actually make my life go how I want. And yet, I don’t use any of them. Why?
I do use them very rarely. But only in certain situations. It’s odd but it’s not even like they are big things, or significant. I’m not sure. I do all things be intuition and instinct.

A good combination for grounding/ensuring a restful sleep is to place a mixture of hematite and apache teardrops between the mattress and boxspring.

The Islamic Circle of North America has been named in “a list of our organizations and the organizations of our friends” by the Muslim Brotherhood, which is bent on waging “a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and sabotaging its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God’s religion is made victorious over all other religions.”
Works and Promotion by Islamic Groups aligned with one another in an almost unstoppable wall of protection from “religious persecution” are dangerous and provide protection to groups including The Nation of Islam which is a on a Temples of Satan list of dangerous groups.
Farakan’s work is unacceptable to The Temples of Satan and he remains on a exclusive target list possessed by High Clergy of The Temples of Satan and this groups works are unacceptable making them a planned target as well.

That is a reflection of the Islamic supremacist notion, rooted in the Qur’an (3:67, 5:116, 9:30, etc.), that the Biblical prophets taught Islam, and their messages were corrupted by their followers to create what we know of today as Judaism and Christianity.
In this view, Judaism and Christianity have no legitimacy whatsoever: they are renegade, twisted, hijacked versions of the original Islam.
For years Islam has hid behind it’s protection and ability to convince liberals that it is a peaceful religion it however is not when one reads a Arabic Version of The Qur’an will find it laden with threats of destruction to all who do not find themselves loyal to Allah, this again is unacceptable to The Temples of Satan and its clergy.

Hoping to encourage interfaith dialogue, an Islamic organization will unveil a pair of billboards in Minneapolis this week.
The Minnesota chapter of the Islamic Circle of North America plans to unveil the billboards Friday, the eve of the Islamic New Year.
The billboards will be located along Hiawatha Avenue in south Minneapolis and Central Avenue on the north side.
They are part of a nationwide multimedia campaign that also includes placing posters on buses and subways in other big cities.
The billboards will display a toll-free telephone number where people can get answers to questions about Islam, as well as obtain free copies of the Qur’an and other Islamic literature.
“Got Questions? Get Answers,” the billboard states.
In a prepared statement, the campaign’s organizers are quoted as saying, “Islam is often a misunderstood religion, leading some to hold bias view of Islam with discrimination and suspicion of Muslims. This ad campaign will provide an opportunity for the people of Twin Cities to take a fresh and positive look at Islam.”
Islam is dangerous and it cannot be allowed to spread in the United States even with Freedom of Religion we still are allowed the freedom to be free from the actions of such and perhaps more than just a few can take up swords not in offense, but in defense of Satan.
Here a question for Satanism?
