Myself, Ryan, Lauren and Vawn went to a craft evening at The Deaf Cat cafe, where we had coffee and hot chocolate. We then to join a load of lovely friends at the pub. Its not often that there are so many people that I like to spend time with in one room! Here are a few photos:

We then walked home, and waited half an hour for food in the local kebab shop, which was horrible food, and which made me get out of bed to forcibly remove the food via regurgitation. Not pleasant… never again.

Today I had a session of Wet, on the Xbox, and I am over half way through now. I am also planning the restart of my driving lessons, which should be next week if possible! I cant actually wait to get my license… one less thing to worry about!

Among other things, I am grateful this year for my dolls. It’s hard to put into words what makes these resinsouls so important to me, except that they have opened up a whole new world to me. This was my first thanksgiving as a vegan and since I was kindly invited to a decisively non-vegan dinner with my brother’s girlfriend’s family, I decided to take it upon myself to bring a few things myself. Shiro and Lia wanted to help!

I made German Potato Dumplings (Klöβe or Knödel), which is a traditional part of our family’s holiday dinners. These were by request of my brother. Lucky for me, they’re also vegan.

And even better, they come in easy-to-buy ready-mix format, since it can apparently be quite hard to keep dumplings from falling apart if you don’t use eggs in the recipe.

I used three of these, two of the “bavarian” style and one “shredded.” They’re essentially the same thing except the “shredded” has more texture. I also mixed in a grated organic raw potato for good measure.

After adding 6 cups of water, lots of stirring ensued. Shiro was eager to help with this. Then, we had to wait 10 minutes for the dough to thicken.

While that was happening, I made up some of my never-fail nutty vegan bread. It’s essentially organic whole wheat flour, organic canola oil, organic brown sugar, walnuts, a bit of pumpkin pie spice, and a tiny bit of baking powder.

While the bread was back in the oven, we returned to the dumplings.

The next step is to form the dough into balls. This was my first time going solo on making dumplings so the shape isn’t quite as perfect as what my mother and grandmother make!

Shiro helped me set up the giant pot of salt water, in which the dumplings are cooked. It took quite a long to boil.

Here comes the hard part: getting it out of the form in one piece! When it didn’t want to budge, Shiro decided to use harsher methods of extraction.

It worked… mostly!

As Lia points out, the bread broke in two. Perhaps it should’ve been baked longer, or maybe I should have let it cool more before trying to get it out. Better luck next time!

The water finally decided to boil, and the dumplings got added. When they rose to the top of the water, I fished them out.

Looks almost like a painting, doesn’t it? It was a lovely dinner. I would have liked to take more pictures but I didn’t want to disrupt the familial atmosphere ^^

This year, I am thankful for…

Diese Dose ist gestern auch fertig entstanden und heute fotografiert. Aber das habe ich nicht in einem Tag gebastelt. Ja, diese Dose stammt von € Laden und mir gefällt die Motive nicht. Deshalb habe ich einfach verschönert. Hintergrund Papier finde ich richtig schön und passt gut für Weihnachten. Bei EAC #67 läuft das Thema “Christmas”. Tildas Augen habe ich ein bissel größer drauf gemalt. Die Blätter habe ich mit einem einfachen Blatt-Stanzer genommen und dann mit Schere was weg geschnitten. So kann man das auch machen. Von diese Deckel, das Weihnachtsstern habe ich auch selbst geschnitten und mit Stickles drauf gemacht. Ich hoffe, gefällt Euch? Danke fürs schauen.

Endlich habe ich gestern Abend meine zweite Shadow-Box-Card fertig. Ich könnte erst heute am hellsten Tag ne Fotos machen. Leider ist das Wetter bei uns im Norden nicht so schön und ungemütlich. Tja, für EAC #66 “Sketch von Anusch“, ISB #13 “Shadow-Box-Card” und nochmal SEME #02 “Shadow-Box-Card” habe ich zusammen gewerkelt. Diesmal habe ich die Motive komplett mit meine neue Prismacolour Stiften coloriert. Ein bisschen üben musst ich noch. Das kleine Glöckchen finde ich so süß. Mit Stickles habe ich auch viele kleine Details drauf gemacht. Die süße Handschuhe habe ich im Innenleben mit Perlen  und durch Eyelett durchgezogen und so aufgehängt. Mir war die Farben nach mehr weiß, silber und blautöne. Gefällt mir so gut. Ihr auch?

25th November – St. Catherine’s Day – when planting is guaranteed to be successful.

I had been saving the planting of my Magnolia grandiflora until today and plan to have a St. Catherine’s Day plant for every year we are here. Last year, our first autumn in France, I planted a couple of fruiting Cherry trees on the eastern garden boundary and the Magnolia is now settling in halfway between the two. The stocky plant has a couple of flower buds waiting to open and makes a nice evergreen punctuation point on that side of the garden.

There are no beds over there at the moment – I had been leaving that side uncultivated to allow access for the builders when our log cabin goes up. The planting hole was therefore dug out of an area hastily cleared for the purpose and is still surrounded by weeds in this neglected section. It’s had a good feed and plenty of water and I shall be talking to it on a daily basis; and with St. Catherine on my side, how can I go wrong?

This planting is also part of my preparations for winter which, despite all the mild weather, must be just around the corner.

Happy almost Thanksgiving, peoples. This past Sunday was my lovely sister Genevieve’s birthday and I made her a cake. Because I’m the one who makes the cakes. I used the Magnolia vanilla cupcake recipe and I must say one of the things I love about the Magnolia cookbooks is that they provide alternate baking times for layer cakes as opposed to cupcakes. Really quite useful. I used a trick I learned from Bakerella to keep the cake moist: cool for 15 minutes in pans and then de-pan and wrap in plastic wrap till completely cool. Worked like a charm. Thanks, Bakerella! Genevieve requested butterscotch frosting, which I quickly realized is easier said than done. After making two different kinds and being dissatisfied with both, I combined them and got something which was okay, but not great. Now accepting butterscotch frosting recipes if you’ve got ‘em.

Ich habe wieder eine Easel-Karte gebastelt.Das süße Motiv habe ich mir schon letztes Jahr bei FunkyKits gegönnt und da es sehr groß ist, habe ich meine Karte mit nur einen Motivpapier von Magnolia gestaltet.Viel Spaß mit dem Thema.

Happy Monday Everyone, What’s the weather like where you are? here it’s showery with sunny intervals, perfect crafting day I think!!!

I’ve managed to combine 3 challenges today; Just Magnolia which is masking, Sketch Saturday which is the sketch I followed and Basic grey which is glitz and bling. Haven’t I done well, I think so anyway.

I’ve stamped Tilda first then masked her and stamped the chocolate box background in afterward, coloured it with promarkers and then added some glaze to the lolly and sweetie jar. This covers the masking part of the challenge at Just Magnolia.

For the glitz & bling over at basic grey I’ve used some gem letters to spell out the word sweet and some gems in the corner, there is also some sakura glitter gel pen highlights on tilda’s bow and the lacey frill but they don’t show in the piccie, sorry the light is pretty bad today. I’ve also used BG papers from the lemonade 6×6 pad.

The sketch is from Sketch Saturday, really loved this, will be using this one again.

Daar is ze weer zo aan het eind van het weekend.
Een leuk verjaardagskaartje met Tilda with balloons van Magnolia. Ingekleurd met Distress Ink. Het designpapier is van Basic Grey, Two scoops. Tevens mooi glitterpapier gebruikt, ik weet alleen niet van welke merk dat is. De roosjes en metalen charm heb ik bij Scrapbookdepot gekocht. De gegolfde rand heb ik met een hoekpons gemaakt. Alles nog afgemaakt met een lichtgroen lintje.

There she is at the end of the weekend. A nice birthdaycard with Tilda with balloons from Magnolia. Colored it with distress ink. The designpaper is Basic Grey, Two scoops. Also I used glitterpaper only I don’t know the brand. The roses and metal charm I bought at Scrapbookdepot. The salloped edge I made with a cornerpunch. And finished it with a green ribbon.

Outdoor shooting is lame at this time of year. All the trees are bare and everything is starting to look dead and ready for winter. But this fall has been fairly mild so far and we’re still waiting for snow to finally cover all the dead things and make everything white and sparkly for awhile. Nevertheless, Magnolia put on her little white booties and red dress today and explored my backyard for a bit.

In other news, AFA09 is this weekend and I’m eagerly watching all my favorite blogs for updates! Kodomut posted some amazing pictues of World is Mine and BRS– the two biggest figures on my preorder that I’ve been waiting SO LONG for (curse you, delays!). World is Mine looks especially beautiful, although BRS is my heart and soul (she is the figure that got me into figure collecting!). Otherwise, AFA looks REALLY awesome and I just wish I could be there. Alas, I’m a lone figure collector stuck up in the frozen tundra of VT.

However, I hope to be at Anime Boston ‘10 in the spring and Otakon ‘10 next summer. Anyone going?

Ik ben nu ik meer tijd heb overdag ( met name maandag en vrijdag) begonnen met de kerstkaarten. Eerst even wat in huis doen en dan met de overige tijd aan het knutselen. Lekker met stempels en mijn copics stiften op basis van alcohol. Je kunt er de kleuren heel goed mee mengen ( met name de kleuren uit de zelfde kleurlijn ).

Diese Kartenform habe ich im Magnolia INK Magazine No.1 entdeckt, und mußte sie unbedingt ausprobieren !!!!

Endlich habe ich auch meine wunderschönen darkroom door Stempel eingeweiht *smile* !!!!

Gestempelt habe ich mit Distress faded jeans,

für den darkroom door Spruch habe ich die Nestabilities Stanze Labels eight  benutzt,

der just for you Stempel ist von Heidi Grace.

Ich habe über die gesamte Karte Memories Mists Iridescent gesprüht, damit sie so schön schimmert !!!!

Ich habe gerade festgestellt, dass meine Karte perfekt zur 31.Challenge von Colour Create paßt *lol* !!!

No domingo, dia 15 de novembro (juro que a data foi coincidência), trabalhamos! A loja virou de cabeça para baixo, mas foi ótimo.

A Agência Galinha dos Ovos de Ouro está de portas abertas e realizando vários trabalhos por ai, e um deles foi fazer o catálogo da Closet 15.

A idéia não foi mostrar a coleção em si, mas sim o conceito da loja, o que a Closet 15 quer passar para o consumidor final, fornecedor e para todos que passam de alguma forma pela loja.

Exploramos o estilo pin-up, os mimos, os detalhes, a feminilidade, sensualidade e romantismo. Tudo isso foi o pilar para começarmos a fotografar e a viajar no cenário da loja.

Na verdade, verdadeira, o trabalho começou na sexta-feira, quando a Júlia da Ovelha Branca, veio me ajudar com as produções. Ela meu deu muita força com as produções… Dá para ver quando a pessoa entende! Ela é capaz de transformar uma blusinha básica em uma blusa super cool. Uma bermuda mais comportada fica mais descolada e divertida. E assim por diante!

A Raquel, maquiadora, deu o toque final do cabelo e make da Aninha. Amamos a make-up dela! Ela trabalha no Maison Rocha, um salão que fica no Gutierrez ( 31 3334 4470) .Foi ótimo conhecer o trabalho da Raquel!

Eu só tenho a agradecer ao Leandro (Designer), ao Marcelo ( Fotógrafo ) , a  Aninha ( Produtora de Moda), a Raquel ( Maquiadora ) , a Júlia ( Empresária ) e a Bela ( Arquiteta – Amiga) ! Foi tudo um sucesso! Espero que gostem!
