A lot of people are going to get cameras this holiday season, or have them from the last few seasons.  They have a basic SLR and the kit lens.  There’s a lot you can do with these simple combinations, but they’re limiting as well.  I’ve been involved in a few discussion forums for these mid-level beginners and wanted to echo a post here about an individual who was looking to upgrade, primarily interested in wedding photography, but wanted advice on path forward.

“Agree with others, 18-55 kit *can* take a sharp photo, but it’ll be a challenge if you’re handheld, in low light, and don’t have a high-contrast subject that’s moving. The variable aperture also makes using Manual difficult, try Shutter Priority (Tv) or Aperture Priority (Av) first to get comfortable with working your exposure. If using a flash head, try fooling with bounce flash and Program mode (P). If you have an older Rebel without a thumb wheel, then you won’t really be able to use Manual for anything beyond posed shots, because you’ll only have one of three exposure parameters (shutter, aperture, sensitivity) assigned to the index wheel. Oh, thoroughly read the manual for your camera as you explore each setup. Some people are able to know just the basics and get great stuff, some people need to really dig and understand the nuance. Find out which you are and how much effort you’re willing to put into your craft before laying out cash. Regarding upgrades, I’d stick with the Rebel and first invest in glass. That 50 1.8 is a good choice, you can even get them used for $75 or lower, although they are a bit long on a 1.6x Rebel, almost 85mm. It’ll take some getting used to, which isn’t a bad thing. The 50 1.4 is an even better choice if you can drop a few hundred. Zooms, I’d say go for the 17-55 2.8 IS.. it doesn’t say L (no weather sealing, etc) but it’s L-quality glass. Every bit as good as the 16-35, 24-70 or 24-105 for under $1000. And if you don’t have one, get yourself a 580ex or 580exII flash head and rechargeable batteries (I like Ansmann 2700mAh AAs, they’re a bit pricey but pay for themselves over time) or an external battery pack. Learn to use bounce and fill-in flash and your photos will improve dramatically. More light means smaller aperture and faster shutter, which means more sharpness. More light also means greater saturation. I’m of the philosophy that photography isn’t cheap. Yes you can get by, and yes in the end, it’s the photographer not the camera. You can get some amazing photos with a $250 point-n-shoot, I know… but the proper kit makes it possible to get 500 amazing photos in a night as opposed to just 10 or 20. That’s once you’re ready to “go live,” you can learn everything you need to learn on the Rebel with one decent (fixed aperture) zoom, a prime or two, and a flash head. Well, what to talk about … I guess this bit of music for now and we’ll see what develops.

So for those of you who don’t know Flying Lotus or commonly (and awfully I might add) referred to as FlyLo is a hell of a producer. Based in Los Angeles he’s been referred to as LA’s Burial… now I don’t quite see the comparison of musical styles so much but I can definitely see a resemblance when it comes to a profound influence in shaping a musical movement.

What Burial has done for Dubstep is sort of what Flying Lotus has done for the world of experimental hip hop, trip hop, and low end theory music. Alongside Glitch Mob, and Nosaj Thing to name a few Flying Lotus has revolutionized music especially in the way it is made, bringing to the forefront any and all technology which can be manipulated and changed to produce the sound he is looking for. (Difference is Flying Lotus has got his hands dirty in enough dubstep as well whereas I don’t think Burial has done much hip hop influence shiat).

A couple of weeks back I read an article I heard of when I was listening to the Mary Ann Hobbs show and fuck me was she right, the article does a great job in summing up whats been happening in this scene over the last year or 2. I realized I haven’t said anything about Declaime aka Dudley Perkins and to be honest it’s cuz I don’t know shit about him but after a bit of research I found this :
He apparently has a grip of shit out (since ‘99 and was also featured on Mushroom Jazz Volume 5… he’s also done a bunch of shit with Madlib including a Hi-Tek vs. Madlib mixtape … could be worth checking out )

Definieren wir erstmal:

Abstrakte Bilder sind Kunstwerke, meist in grellen und/oder düsteren Farbe gehalten. Dadurch erzeugen diese Schinken eine sehr düstere Atmosphäre, bei der man am liebsten spontan losheulen wöllte. Dies wir jedoch durch die abnormale Abstraktheit verhindert: Man versteht schlichtweg nicht, warum man heulen möchte. Soweit klar? Nein? Auch gut.

Mein Namensvetter Martin hat sich in dieser Disziplin versucht, jedoch ist das Bild verflucht und man kriegt Kopfschmerzen davon. Deshalb sind bisher alle (!) Versuche der Redaktion, es zu interpretieren fehlgeschlagen. Nun bin ich dran und es scheint bisher zu klappen, damit ihr auch verflucht werdet, hier das Meisterwerk (klicken zum vergrößern):

So, des Künstlers Warnhinweis war, dass man der Giraffe (haha, wo ist sie bloß?) ja nicht ins Auge sehen sollte. Just nachdem  er diesen Satz von sich gab wurde er von einem Schwarzen Loch gefressen.

Ja, … ähm, Scheiße: Inzwischen sind nun fast 19 Stunden vergangen, ich war erkältet, hatte Schüttelfrost und musste 3 mal kotzen.

Ich glaube trotzdem an keine Flüche.

Also: Durch die offensichtliche Düsterheit, welche sich in unserem alltäglichen Leben wiederfindet (z.B.: Physikunterricht, Ostergasse, …) spricht uns der Künstler ganz direkt an, das wird vor allem durch die beiden, masochistisch verunstalteten, menschenähnlichen Piktogrammen dargestellt. Während eines von einer orangenen Giraffe mit Laserblick gegrillt wird und sich dabei offensichtlich Gedanken über Radioaktivität, die Weltbank und Recycling macht, liegt sein Kollege in einer Phasenverschiebung am Boden (daher die Verzerrungen) und verabschiedet sich unter türkisfarbenem Lichtgewitter mit “ZAP! POW! BLAM” vom Angesicht dieser Welt, offenbar ein spontanes Auftreten von Antimaterie. Was soll uns damit gesagt werden?

Giraffen, wer kennt sie nicht? Diese nervigen Viecher, die die ganze Zeit in der Savanne um sich her rennen und dauernd langweilige Akazienblätter fressen. Wäre es nicht evolutionsbiologisch höchst sinnvoll, mal was aufregenderes zu fressen? Menschen? Wie soll Meister Giraffe aber Menschen jagen? Das Bild sagt es uns: Mit ihrem Laserblick! IMMA FIRIN’ MAH LAZER!!!111einself

Das ist sie, die schon fast apokalyptische Botschaft an die Menschheit. Entweder, werden wir irgendwann alle von Giraffen gefressen, wahrscheinlich werden wir es aber garnicht merken, da wir uns zuviel Gedanken über die Umwelt und Geld machen, oder wir vernichten uns selber mit Antimaterie und verschwinden alle im türkisfarbenen Licht der 4. Dimension.

Soweit, so gut, aber was ist mit dem Schaum und der Raupenkette los? Offensichtlich, wer denkt es sich nicht, wird hier eine Anspielung auf Black Metal gemacht (Raupenkette -> Panzer -> Waffe -> Krieg -> Black Metal), der in letzter Zeit immer softer wurde (Seifenblasen), aber es besteht immer noch Hoffnung auf Besserung (grüne Seifenblasen -> Farbe der Hoffnung). Natürlich werden Black Metaller nicht von der Apokalypse erfasst, es gibt keinen Anti-Black Metal und erst recht keine Giraffen mit Laserblicken, die Black Metaller fressen würden, was denkt ihr euch denn? Gerade deshalb findet die Existenz dieser Metapher nur am Rande des Meisterwerks statt. “Happy” steht natürlich für die Gesinnung dieses Musikstils.

Kommen wir nun zum braunen und grünen Dämon. Klar, dass der braune Dämon an Baphomet erinnert und somit wieder die glücklichen Black Metaller symbolisiert, die – als letzte “Menschen” auf diesem Planeten – sämtliche Errungenschaften, oder auch Informationen, durch Black Metal ersetzten werden. Das sieht man ausschließlich daran, dass Baphomet gerade das i verschluckt. Nun, sein grüner Kumpane. Verdammt, dass ist wohl eine harte Nuss, die uns Martin² dort hinterlegt hat. Ich tippe auf die Sonne. Wiedrum im Sinne der Hoffnung in grün gehalten – dort liegt sie, unsere Zukunft:

Um der Apokalypse zu entgehen muss die Menschheit auf die Sonne umsiedeln, nicht etwa auf den Mars. Das Gute an dieser Umsiedlung wird durch das überaus freundliche Gesicht der grünen Sonne symbolisiert.

Nun, der Rest zeigt natürlich alle möglichen Wirren und Wesen der Apokalypse und ihren Folgen dar, was durch psychedelische Farbwahl besonders deutlich wird, eine Form geht mir davon aber nicht aus dem Kopf: Am Fuße der Giraffe, offensichtlich ein Atomkern… zählen wir mal nach: 7 Nukleonen.

Da Marsala.it si apprende che nella notte di sabato scorso sono morti in un incidente stradale due ragazzi in Piazza del Popolo.

Dall’esame del tachimetro pare che questi due 19enni al momento dell’incidente procedessero ad una velocità di circa 170 km/h quando si sono scontrati con il muro che delimita il mercato. Inoltre sembra che fossero ubriachi e che forse stessero gareggiando con altre automobili. La loro incoscienza poteva anche coinvolgere altre persone incolpevoli, ma per fortuna così non è stato.

L’incidente si è verificato alle ore 4 del mattino, cioè quando in quella zona c’è praticamente silenzio assoluto e, volendo ricostruire per sommi capi la dinamica dell’incidente, non c’è bisogno di essere dei periti per capire che per morire in questo modo (ci sono volute circa due ore per estrarre i corpi) la rincorsa della loro auto sia cominciata molto prima, almeno nel tratto iniziale di via Mazzini.

Chi vive nella zona, inoltre, sa benissimo che un’auto lanciata a tutta velocità alle 4 del mattino si sente benissimo e sa pure che non è la prima volta che nel cuore della notte auto e moto di grossa cilindrata sfrecciano a velocità da codice penale intorno a piazza F.sco Pizzo (piazza INAM) e, per l’appunto, via Mazzini.

Il punto è proprio questo: il luogo dell’incidente si trova a circa 800 metri dal Commissariato di Polizia di via Verdi 32, mentre via Mazzini dista in linea d’aria dalla stazione di Polizia meno di 180 metri.

Ora ciò non vuol dire che la Polizia avrebbe potuto evitare l’incidente, quello è ovvio. Ci chiediamo però, dal momento che le corse di qualche deficiente a pochi metri di distanza dal Commissariato non sono un fatto isolato e che anzi si verificano spessissimo, cos’è che impedisce agli agenti di via Verdi di sentire quello che tutti gli abitanti del quartiere sentono benissimo. E magari, ogni tanto, intervenire, se non è chiedere troppo.

Perchè l’impressione è che di notte in questa città succede di tutto, ma chi dovrebbe vigilare arriva sempre tardi. Come quella volta dell’albero di Porta Nuova.

Stasera, qui sul monte, si vede una luna splendida, l’ho fotografata ma l’obiettivo e i pixel non le rendono giustizia però, vi assicuro che è bella, grande, tonda e mi fa venire in mente l’antica leggenda raccontata sul monte che riguarda, guarda caso, proprio le giraffe. Narra la storia di una mia lontanissima antenata (noi giraffe siamo sulla Terra da parecchio tempo, abbiamo una certa dimestichezza con le cose del mondo, eh..) la giraffa Cercalù la quale, sin da piccola, aveva manifestato il suo desiderio di abbracciare la palla tonda che vedeva nel cielo, naturalmente, scoraggiata da tutti, prima di tutto dalla sua famiglia, poi dai suoi amici, le scimmie erano le più agguerrite, e conoscenti, tra i quali gli elefanti, considerati i più saggi del monte, quello che dicevano gli elefanti era saggezza allo stato puro, “tu non ne capisci nulla, l’elefante ha parlato” e non si poteva mettere in dubbio. Però, la mia antenata, forse per colpa del nome che ricordava la ricerca della luna, non voleva sentire ragioni, anzi, secondo gli abitanti del monte, non sapeva proprio cosa fosse la ragione, poiché continuava con la fissa dell’abbraccio alla luna e immaginava i modo più difficili per arrivarci, un ponte fatto di rami d’acacia, una torre realizzata con tutti gli animali che conosceva, quindi altissima, fino al cielo, l’allungamento del collo, insomma, tutte le cose impossibili le immaginava lei. Sempre secondo la leggenda, un giorno, mentre Cecalù era intenta a consumare la cena in compagnia del suo amico facocero Metemagno, che non aveva mai avuto grilli per la testa e non aveva mai desiderato abbracciare nessuna palla bianca lontana, lui le disse, tra un boccone e l’altro “guarda, secondo me, è più semplice di quanto pensi” e da quel giorno, Cercalù iniziò a ripetere quella frase “è più semplice di quanto pensi”, tutti i giorni, tutte le notti, ma il modo proprio non le veniva in mente. Poi, secondo la leggenda, che secondo me è un po’ strana, una notte Cercalù si svegliò dopo aver sentito uno strano fruscio accanto a sé e appena aprì gli occhi si rese conto che il cielo era diventato completamente buio, senza nemmeno uno spicchio di luna, mezza luna, tre quarti di luna, niente di niente, era come se la luna se ne fosse andata in vacanza e, allora, pensò “ecco, avevano ragione gli altri, è meglio lasciar perdere, tanto questa palla bianca è anche un po’ strana, addirittura più strana di me” e decise di tornare a dormire ma, mentre stava per ricominciare a sognare vide un’insolita luce spuntare dal manto di foglie accanto a lei e, incuriosita, lo smosse con la zampa quando all’improvviso vide l’enorme palla bianca che la guardava divertita e, placidamente adagiata sulla terra, le disse: “vedi, era più semplice di quanto pensassi”. Mah, io non so da dove abbiano pescato questa leggenda, qui sul monte e, sinceramente, non so nemmeno perché mi sia tornata in mente.. mah, forse è il caso di andare a dormire.

If you are a fan of the Mahjong games, you should like this game. I like the Mahjong games but feel that this game could have used alittle more work. I think the graphics on this game could have been a lot better than they are. The graphics makes this game alittle hard to see on the DS considering that the screen is so small to begin with. Overall its a fun game, but if you have problems playing games on the DS that have great graphics then you are going to have a hard time with this game. Overall its fun, but hard to see. If they had an option to lighten or darken the screen that would make it alittle better in the ease of playing it.

Ambientato nella sua interezza in una Roma incredibilmente priva di traffico, il film si snoda nell’arco temporale di una giornata, a partire dal furto di una rilevante quantità di antimateria dai laboratori del CERN e la conseguente convocazione a Roma, dove il pontefice è appena deceduto, di Robert Langdon, famoso esperto di simboli che già conosciamo dal Codice da Vinci; lo studioso viene convocato per indagare sulla setta degli Illuminati, che in aria da conclave ha rapito i quattro cardinali favoriti ad assurgere al seggio pontificio con l’intenzione di giustiziarli in modo esemplare e in seguito, di radere al suolo il Vaticano. Langdon, aiutato da una scienziata del CERN dovrà ricostruire, pezzo per pezzo ogni singolo passo del piano dei presunti Illuminati, tirando in ballo Galileo, Bernini e l’intera storia dell’arte italiana, per riuscire a fermare le esecuzioni dei cardinali che avverranno ogni ora fino alla mezzanotte, quando detonerà la bomba composta dall’antimateria.

Oltre all’interpretazione di Tom Hanks nei panni di Langdon, questo film vanta anche la presenza di Ewan McGregor, camerlengo incredibilmente giovane, bello e ad un primo esame, progressista e di uno sparuto Pierfrancesco Favino nel ruolo di un componente della gendarmeria vaticana che ci viene subito tolto da davanti gli occhi, per essere rimpiazzato da una serie di carabinieri questa volta, più che verosimili.

Purtroppo per lui, Ron Howard si è trovato davanti un lavoro con una delle trame più improbabili che si potessero concepire a memoria d’uomo, e anzi, va a lui il merito di aver omesso le parti più imbarazzanti a livello di storia. Quello che rimane è un semi-colossal all’americana, dove, al di là dell’improbabilità delle scene e dei personaggi che ci vengono presentati, prevalgono la spettacolarità degli effetti speciali, e la suspence di scoprire come andrà a finire.

Om knappt en timme så ska jag sätta mig på tåget för att börja med en timmes långa resa ner till skolan, väl i skolan så ska jag behöva genomlida att träffa folk jag tycker illa om och slutligen 9.15 får jag slippa dessa genom att föreläsningen börjar. Föreläsningen idag hoppas jag inte är som flera som vi har haft tidigare som har varit mycket ointressanta och inte givit mig något förutom att tagit mig tid jag kunnde skrivit på en uppgift som ska in i veckan.

Sen blir det att åka till mitt rum som jag hyr i en villa i Teckomatorp för att diskutera med en vän ifall vi ska ha kvar föreningen eller inte, tydligen tycker alla utom jag att föreningen är onödigt och inte bör finnas kvar längre. Själv så tycker jag att det är en jätte bra grej att vi har en förening – men vi kanske kan ändra på föreningen så att den är mindre aktiv och är mer för att vi ska kunna hålla lan lite då och då? Men som jag ser det så är det så den är just nu. Problemet ligger i att de inte är intresserade av föreningen, eller något annat, och vill därför inte engagera sig.

Efter denna diskussion som inte kommer leda någon vart så ska jag sitta med min älskling (datorn) och skriva uppgiften som ska vara inne på fredag. “Läraren och det pedagogiska ledarskapet”
