Hello Funny One here. Tomorrow I’m going to London and won’t be able to do by blog until Friday. Anyways, I just watched “Cuckoo”. Andy Samberg was so funny. He’s always funny though. He’s a comic genius. I would definitely love to work with him! I could be in a movie with him. One day.

Theres’ another “We know all your secrets.”

“We know all your secrets”

Shia LaBeouf

Did you know that even going to the dentist gives Shia a boner. It’s the sound of the dentist’s drill that does it for him. Some people get frightened, it just gets him excited.

And here’s another Funny One cartoon. Another failed attempt at getting to America.

#6 Return to sender

Trade post – we are trying to make trade station being online as soon as possible, before we randomly selected the 15% of the players to test, when our trade station system is stable enough, and can accommodate the sufficient number of transaction, we will open to all players. At present, we have completed the trade station online testing, and close the trade station function to all players so as to maintenance. Thank you all the players taking the test, you have rendered us great service.
Mail system – we found a potential behavior abuse of mail system, and temporarily closed the mail system. We will open as soon as possible. Close mail system is in order to prevent from cheaters transferring any property from players, after our mail authentication system stability, we will open the function.
Xtras – we had already started to punish xtras. We have found some mild or non – malignant xtras behavior, and will suspend the account 72 hours in the first punishment. After this xtras work, we will be strict in accordance with our original policy, permanent suspend those players who use xtras.
BBS – now our main work goal is still to remove the defect of game, and make the game stability. So in order not to make the program group being distracted by other work, we decide to open BBS after a large number of players in the early game are in steady state.

Our missionary children love getting packages in the mail, so take advantage of that. But depending

Our missionary children love getting packages in the mail, so take advantage of that. But depending upon the mail system of the country where they serve there may be some limitations and/or restrictions. Therefore when we desire to send them things they want or need, there is way that works even better than sending packages through the mail. My son and his wife had been on the field a little less than a month, when God presented us with such an opportunity. A dear friend of ours was making a trip on behalf of his church to the very place where my son and daughter-in-law were located! When I found out where our friend was going, contact was made with my son, informing him as to when and where our friend would be arriving. After a few emails and phone calls, it was determined what our friend would be taking. It just so happened our daughter-in-law’s birthday was coming up so items that would enhance their celebration were eagerly packed. As far as my son was concerned, there was a particular power adapter he needed, and some of his tools he had had to leave behind were requested. We were thrilled to be able to send these items to our missionary kids. Though I didn’t see their expressions, I’m pretty sure they were just as thrilled to receive them.

Typically, you as parents will be informed by your missionary children as to who the mission teams are and when these teams are expected. You will be sent a list via email, phone, etc. as to what they would like brought to them. At that point, you will be given information as to how to contact the mission team and give them the packages you want them to take. As in our recent experience, I made a 45 min. drive to deliver the suitcase to our friend. But, if necessary, you will be given an address so that you can mail the packages to the team. (After communicating with them as to how much room they have, of course.)

When my son was in South America, I was able to send bags the women of my church had made for the villagers where my son was serving. My son had me contact the mission team and we made arrangements to send the bags to them, and they delivered them to the Baptist Mission in Lima. My son picked them up when he came into town and took the bags with him when he returned to the jungle.

I already know that a mission team is traveling to where my son and daughter-in-law will be located in July. Unless, there is a mission team traveling a bit later, we will be sending their Christmas presents by that team. Yes, a bit early but it’s not likely it will be feasible to mail Christmas packages. For instance, some of the restrictions are that the value of the items mailed must be under $50. Otherwise, my son and daughter-in-law will have to pay taxes on those packages.

Okay, that’s a practical bit of information that you as a missionary parent could benefit from knowing. Remember, you have to be deliberate about staying in contact with your children. Sending packages via mission teams is a great way to maintain that contact!

I installed XAMPP on my notebook running Windows Vista. XAMPP includes Mercury Mail. I want to email mails by Mercury to the external mailbox, such as hotmail or gmail.

At the beginning, I only can send emails to a local address. I spent almost two days on it and finally made it work. Here I write down the steps to share.

Here is Mercury/32 v4.72 and the steps are as follows:

1, start Mercury; I can’t start it on my XAMPP panel. I go to the folder MercuryMail, and click mercury.exe to start it;

2, go to “Configuration” -> “Protocol modules”, disable “MercuryB HTTP web server” — it’s said it can confict with the apache, “Mercury IMAP4rev1 server” — this one may be not needed so disable it, “MercuryX connection and process scheduler” — this one can make “Mercury SMTP Client” module offline, and the mail can’t be delivered;

3, disable “MercuryE SMTP end-to-end delivery client” and enable “MercuryC SMTP relaying client” — so the external mail can be delivered;

4, go to “Configuration” -> “Mercury core module” -> “Gerneral”:

Internet name for this system: localhost
For the checkboxes beneath, only “Send copies of all errors to postmaster” is checked
under the tab “Local domains”:
Local host or server Internet name
localhost localhost
localhost [127.0.0.1]

when a mail message is sent with smtp.gmail.com, if the hint “connecting smtp.*.*” can be seen on the “Mercury SMTP Client (relay version)” window, generally, it doesn’t work correctly.
Now, you can restart Mercury and then go to file -> send mail message… to send a message to your external emailbox; if you want it to do quick, go to “Mercury Core Process” and Mercury SMTP Client (relay version)” Windows and click “Poll now” to force poll.

A guest blog, by Alister.

Viewed from afar, Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Cayman Islands may not appear to have many similarities. One is a small country, torn by ethnic strife, dealing with out of control crime and lawlessness, governed by a dysfunctional political class and overseen by a foreign supervisor. The other is Bosnia and Herzegovina. However, they do have something in common. Both have a love, a deep love, of bureaucracy. They revel in it. Nothing can happen without a form, and frequently, a stamp. Rules must be obeyed. No discretion is allowed. However, despite the legacy of 50 years of socialist government and their obsession with stamps, the Bosnian postal system might be less stressful of the two.

How to post a package in the Cayman Island

1. Withdraw a sum of money from the bank that in other countries would handily cover a year’s university tuition.

2. Present yourself at a post office counter, and explain that you would like to post this package. The staff will not be friendly or helpful and the security guard will be watching you very closely.

3. You will, generally, be given two options. The first, which involves sending your package by way of Mombasa, Ulaanbataar and Kiribati, will take approximately six months. However, it will be cheap. Enough to buy you tuition at a state college in Idaho, for example. The alternative option will involve sending your package “Express”. This still involves sending your package by way of Mombasa, Ulaanbataar and Kiribati, but it will happen with a big “Express” logo on the front of the package. This will cost you as much as an undergraduate degree from Harvard, although it does come with
tracking.

4. Fill in the customs form, detailing the contents of your package. There are two schools of thought here: one is that the form must be meticulously filled in, listing every small item inside, together with weights (to the nearest milligram) and value (to the nearest cent). The other approach is to write “Personal effects”, tick the gift box, leave the weight column blank and write in a value that you have just made up. I have tried both, and it makes no difference.

5. Pay. Do not collect a degree. The staff will sneer at you as you leave and lob your parcel over their shoulder to a corner of the depot.

How to collect a package in the Cayman Islands

1. You will receive a form from the Post Office, requiring you to present yourself at the Customs office at the airport post office, within 7 days. Do not tarry or they will return to sender.

2. Try to remember what you have ordered from Amazon, or what someone might have sent you as a gift. Is it a birthday? Mother’s Day? Better remember before you get there. No time to think on your feet.

3. Procure a copy of the Customs Tariff Law (latest revision). This sounds like overkill. It is not.

4. Withdraw a sum of money to cover 22% of the total value of what you are receiving, plus $3 “package tax”. Don’t know what you have been sent or the value thereof? Tough. You should have been more psychic.

5. Present yourself at the Customs office. You may have to queue, which gives you an interesting insight into how Customs staff deal with people. You may get a treat, like the time I saw an officer tell a customer that it didn’t matter that the junk yard where his friend had procured a random engine part worth £5 didn’t give receipts, his friend should have gone to a notary and sworn an affidavit as to its true value.

6. Hand over your form and ID. Make sure your form is signed in all the right places, otherwise you will be sent to the back. Look subservient and non threatening as the security guard hovers at your shoulder. Don’t complain or look impatient when the staff stop to chat amongst themselves.

7. Wait until the officer fetches your parcel and slams it on the counter with a loud sigh.

8. The officer will ask you, in the same way the Stasi used to interrogate people, what is in the parcel. One of two scenarios unfold:

8.1 If it is something you have purchased, it is easy. He checks the invoice, calculates the duty and off you go. Unless it is something that they have never seen before, like cloth nappies. In which case, use your Customs Tariff Law to show them the correct rate of duty and hope they agree with your calculations and right to have whatever is in the parcel.

8.2 If the parcel is a gift, however, you are in trouble. You are entitled to $50 per package gift allowance. Receive too many presents in a a random timeframe? Tough, no allowance for you, you have to pay full duty. Don’t know what something your mother sent you cost? Don’t worry, Customs will simply make up a value and charge you duty on that. Have you received a gift, all nicely wrapped? Tough, Customs will open it in front of you. And for the record, birthday gifts are not actually gifts but solicited parcels. Why? Well, you knew it was your birthday, didn’t you? Therefore you expected a parcel. Don’t try and argue, you’ll just be put on a blacklist and hassled every time you go back.

9. Pay the duty and leave, with all the good grace of Wayne Rooney at a World Cup.

Very, very occasionally you’ll get a rare treat and the officer (probably en route to lunch or wanting to go home early) will not even look at the parcel, no matter how big and potentially expensive the contents are. Instead they will stamp your form, thrust the parcel at you and indicate you are free to leave. Try not to look too startled, guilty or happy about this. Leave and rejoice.

How to post a package in Bosnia and Herzegovina

1. Take your parcel to the posting window at any post office. Explain, using gestures and the three Bosnian words you know, that you wish to post the package.

2. You will be given four forms. Two will be for paying charges, one is a customs form (see above, with the added challenge of listing the contents in Bosnian) and the other is a small slip of paper on which you write the destination address.

3. Go to another window to pay using two of the forms you have been given. One is for an administrative tax. The other is for purposes unknown – a contribution to Nataša’s retirement fund, perhaps. The post office will also charge you for making those payments at the post office (there is no other way of paying them, of course), a neat trick that will soon be implemented by the Royal Mail, no doubt.

4. Return to the first window and hand over all your bits of paper.

5. Pay the clerk. This will be a surprisingly small amount of money. Parcel will be sent immediately. Staff are generally friendly and efficient.

How to collect a package in Bosnia and Herzegovina

1. If you are lucky, you will be at home when the elderly and frail postman brings your parcel. At most pay 3.50KM and that is that. If you are out, you will receive a form, requiring you to present yourself at the post office, within 5 days. Do not tarry.

2. Go to the parcel window. Helpfully, this is in a separate part of the building to the main post office, accessed through a door which is hidden round the corner from the main entrance.

3. Hand over your form and passport. The clerk will find your record in his handwritten ledger, a throw back to Victorian times, and you will sign it. You will be given a form to make a payment. Go back to the main post office building, and pay. Again, the post office will also charge you for making those payments at the post office but at least they smile as they do so.

Update: The Japan Post will be lifting this parcel ban on December 1, 2010. AS OF TOMORROW, THE JAPA

Update: The Japan Post will be lifting this parcel ban on December 1, 2010.

AS OF TOMORROW, THE JAPAN POST WILL NO LONGER SEND PARCELS MORE THAN 453 GRAMS (1LB) TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

You read that correctly. Citing an incident in which a toner bomb was nearly shipped to the US via Yemen and tightening American shipping policies, the Japan Post is the first of several East Asian countries to announce it will not ship parcels to the US that weigh more than 453 grams. As of now, this ban is indefinite–no word on whether it will last through the holidays.

If you have friends or family living in the US, your options are to either send very lightweight gifts through the Japan Post or to go through private shipping companies such as Yamato Transport, DHL, or FedEx Japan. Due to this incoming wave of restrictions, Yamato and DHL require you to submit either the recipient’s SSN or IRS ID. FedEx Japan has no such requirement, provided your gift is valued at less than 10,000 yen. These private companies will cost at least twice the amount that Japan Post does, and branches are hard to find.

To prove that I am not making this up:

15 August 2010

The Brisbane Times reveals that students at a Brisbane State High school were targeted by an unknown Christian group or person who had obtained the names of students. Students were sent hand addressed envelopes containing a pamphlet created by an American Evangelical Ministry. Apparently the teacher was required by law to pass the letters on to the students( not a lawyer, but depending on the age of the student I’d be advising parents).

Students at a Brisbane state high school last month were given evangelical religious pamphlets printed in the United States that arrived at the school in the mail system. The students’ names were hand-written on the envelopes but there was no indication of who had sent them. The students’ teacher passed on the mail, as he was obliged by law to do, but he said he had ‘‘no idea’’ where they had come from. The pamphlet, entitled Changed from the Inside Out, was printed in Illinois and included excerpts from Next Door Savior, a book written by evangelical preacher, Max Lucado.

I find this story disquieting for a number of reasons and it gives me cause for concern, both as a teacher and a secularist.

How were the children’s names obtained?

There are a couple of possibilities here. A student may have provided or been coerced into giving details to a parent or adult with ties to the unknown group/person. A school chaplain, teacher or support officer with an evangelical bent may have provided names(at this stage it not clear to me if particular students were targeted or if it was a blanket mailing). In either case boundaries have been crossed.

Who sent them?

The sender deliberately set out not to be caught, providing no indication on who they were (this in itself would have caused me not to deliver them directly). Was this to ensure that the mail got to it target or to ensure that once the game was up that there could be no consequences? Deceptive behaviour in the least.

What’s next?

I do wonder what this person/group might do next, determined to circumvent parental wishes and negate the soft protections afforded by schools. Could it be baptism without consent? I think the police should be investigating the persons or group involved.

What’ the harm?

One of the comments on the original news site suggests that this is a bit of a storm in a teacup, a beat up. The pamphlets are jut encouraging students to live oral lives? What do you think? Should we let all and sundry have access to the minds of our children?

Perhaps Schools could sell mailing lists in an effort to raise funds (joking).

http://web.archive.org/web/20110209144730/http://seantheblogonaut.com/2010/08/state-school-children-targeted-with-unsolicited-christian-mail/

In most Zelda-games, except for Majora´s Mask, characters were always standing in the same spot. If you needed something from a certain character, you had to travel all the were to it. With the Meet Up-mail system, you can change that.

I´m imagining a dynamic mail-system, where the player can write a letter at any time in the game, then give it to some character/helpful animal that delivers the letter; and finally, gets it to the character you wanted it to give. There could be several possibilities for what such a letter does. My initial thought was that you could ask a character to meet up with you at certain spots in the game world. But that could be enhance to various things, like “please send me *item*” or “Here´s 500 rupees, please put it into my bank account”. Think of it as a mobile Animal Crossing-letter system.

I was recently hired by a graduate student to organize her office space which was totally out of control. She stated that she is extremely busy with school, internships and extracurricular activities but could not study at her desk because it was covered in paperwork, junk mail, etc. It took me about six hours to reduce all of her papers into one file drawer and re-organize her office supplies, books and mail system.

Check out the before and after photos and her comments below:

Before. The office was located right next to the front door so she was hit with clutter the moment she walked in her home which meant that she was stressed out every time she walked through the door.

This was what my client had to say after the work was done:

“I feel like my life has been changed. I think the most valuable part of this experience was learning how to keep myself organized. When something comes in the mail I actually know where to put it! And I don’t have to dig through piles every day. Its amazing!”

It’s a lot faster with almost no time restrictions any longer.

Greetings!

As mentioned during this morning’s updates to NA servers all Oceanic servers will be coming down at 1:45PM EDT for an update. This update is part of our efforts to improve the responsiveness of the mail system. We expect to have servers up before 4:30 PM EDT.

As always please check the Herald for the latest information and updates.

Thank you!

Hey all,

I’m sure the WAR side of the blogosphere is blowing up with the same topic post as this but I thought I’d get it to anyone who checks this before they see the Herald:

Ladies and gentlemen, the President…

I for one am excited about the news, more on my innermost feelings after the JUMP

YAY they are adding a tank back in for each side. I think anyone who has played the first chapters in Dark Elf country can agree that you NEED a tank for some PQ’s (ahem, the dragon)

Anyone planning on rerolling as a Knight of the Blazing Sun? If so, I will GLADLY join you as a Warrior Priest (unless I get the urge to level Deepfatfriar solo).

Hopefully the Dev team can fix the Mail system like he says….and all the other little bugs that have popped up. I have a gut feeling that they can and hey, who knows, now that the gold spammers seem to be comming under control, the team that was working solely on that problem can maybe be taken down a notch and moved over to other projects.

Im not so sure about the character transfer thing….I understand letting people move characters from high pop to medium pop servers, but…from low pop to medium pop? wont that just make the low pop servers even less playable? (unless the plan is to combine all the lowest populated servers in an effort to balance out everything. I still wonder if maybe adding a /level incentive to anyone moving from 20+ level characters on Destruction to lower populated Order-side servers wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Overall I think the state of the game address was encouraging (although im biased because im LOVING THIS GAME). If we could get an update like this monthly, I think it could put alot of people to ease about where things are going. (I like knowing whats being worked on)

See you in WAR

Ok my biggest beef is with the Mailbox right now. Last night it seriously took me 30 minutes to do something in WoW took me 2 minutes. Fix the damn mail system please, for the love of all that is unholy, and holy alike.

I would open mail, wait 20 seconds, take item wait 20 seconds, delete message 20 seconds, rinse and repeat.

On the other end of the spectrum Mythic is very responsive their rehashing XP rewards on users complaint, their destroying gold spammers left, and right. So their not complete asshats, and I really do enjoy the game.

But it’s times like last night where I just want to destroy evey mailbox I see in fits of anger.
