When I was a kid spam came in a can and you ate it in a sandwich. Now it’s a name used to describe a nasty Internet practice.

Spam is unsolicited advertising, ussually in the form of unwanted emails. Don’t do it, it’s illegal and it’s not nice. Most good affiliate programs will ask you to leave their program if you’re caught spaming ’cause they don’t want trouble with the law.

If you see an email address in a list that isn’t yours and you copy it to use in your marketing campagn that’s called harvesting. That’s not a nice thing to do either.

Watch out for ad blasters too. You want to be really sure that the recipients of the emails gave permission to the blaster. It’s not likely.

What about spam coming at you? You’re an online marketer and you’re trying to build a business right? You want your customers to know how to find you so you put your email address out there. So what can you do?

First, get a free gmail account, it’s the number one choice in Internet marketing. It has a good spam filter but you still get to see the email so you can decide if the email was spam or not. Gmail will also allow you to create filters so that repeated emails, even from sources you allowed to contact you, can be filed before they hit your inbox. Pretty handy.

Oh, and this is important. Use one email for personal emails and don’t let it get messed up with your business mail.

If a spam email is really offensive you can always report it as spam and the spammer’s email provider will be contacted by your email provider. They’ll get a cease and desist order.

Hmmm, I’ve gotten those and I wasn’t even spamming anyone. Like I said get a gmail account, lots of the other providers like to decide what’s spam without your input. Even if you wanted the email they’ll block it!

If the spammer happens to be another marketer I just love emailing them back with my program or offer. This sort of thing works well…

Hi So-and-so, thanks for this great offer. I just don’t have time to promote another program right now. Have you ever tried promoting your business using (put your favorite ad source here), it’s off the hook. I get qualified leads everyday!

Or how about this one…

Hey So-and-so, thanks for this amazing offer but I have to tell you, if I make any more money online I won’t know what to do with it! hehahe You should join me at the (put your biz here) it’s awesome. I can’t get over how much money I’m making.

You may be skeptical but I really do get leads this way.

Last but not least…hit delete and move onto the next email. Just don’t delete mine okay? )

It’s pretty easy really.

Someone visits our team capture page. If they like what they see they join our mailing list and they get an invite to our website, WeCanAllGet2.com.

Most of the programs that are featured on our website are advertising companies. Every online marketer needs advertising. So if they see a program they like and can use in their online business they’ll find easy to follow instructions asking them to send me an email that tells me they’d like to join. I send them the referral url that belongs to one of our team members that needs referrals. They join and send me their new referral url so I can include it as part of the team build.

There’s no guarantee that anyone will ever get a referral or if they do how long it will take but so far people are having good results and their downlines are growing.

For most people it sure beats going it alone. If you haven’t already joined our team why not join us right now? We can start building your downline right away.

If we want to be good marketers and have success online we better think about changing some of our bad habits.

It takes time to build a good, profitable online business. There is no such thing as get rich quick. Sorry if you’ve been mislead but it’s time for the truth. If you don’t have what it takes to stick with it, it just ain’t gonna happen for you.

One of the biggest mistakes we ALL make is program hopping. Program hopping is jumping from one program to the next hoping for a bit of good luck. Maybe it should be called program hoping?

You’re surfing for credits and you see an amazing opportunity that looks way better than the one you’re promoting. I mean, you’ve been running a whole bunch of ads and no one wants to join your stuff. This new one is way better, you should be able to get people to join it for sure.

Forget about it!

The problem isn’t the program you’re promoting, it’s the way you’re promoting it. Here’s a dose of reality for ya. If you can’t promote your program what makes you think you can promote the next one?

I’ve even been told by tons of people that they were scammed by this program or that because “it didn’t work” or they were cheated because everyone knows it’s only the “guy at the top” that’s gonna get anything out of it.

The fact is you weren’t scammed (well sometimes you are) and the reason the guy at the top did well is because he knows how. That’s what’s stopping you form doing well, you just need to learn how and it takes time.

One of the real benefits to the Fa$tCa$h-System is the training videos. It’s worth every penny of the $12 it cost you to join the Fa$tfCa$h-System even if the only thing you ever do with it is watch the training videos. The first 3 videos are by a guy named Tim Sales. Watch them and if you don’t get what he’s telling you watch them as many times as you need to. Tim is about to tell you the truth that we all need to hear.

Please, for your own good, stop program hopping and learn to promote the program you already joined. You liked it when you joined so will a lot of other people. You just need to know where to find them.

You’re wondering what to do next right?

You have choices. You can promote the programs you joined as stand alone programs or you can promote our team. That means if someone new joins us they may be placed in your downline even if you didn’t invite them to the team!

If you want to promote the team you can use these capture pages. Just copy and paste the url anywhere you need to use it. Just don’t spam please, it’s illegal and it’s just not nice.

http://1942165.webbizzoffers.com/primarybusiness.html

When people put their information into our capture page they’ll be invited to our autoresponder and I can email them about the team from time to time. That’s a really effective way to market our team and our affiliate programs.

You can join our team forum by following this link WeCanAllGet2 and you can even follow us on twitter by going here WeCanAllGet2.
I’m Brian Downie the creator of WeCanAllGet2.com

I’ve been a part time online marketer for a little over three years. I had some success as a marketer but not what I was hoping for. It seemed like no matter how hard I worked I just couldn’t get my head above water. I sure wasn’t seeing the mind numbing massive income that most affiliate programs claim is possible.

I worked hard, I tried to learn new skills, I figured I was making all the right moves, I even made it onto the leader board in a few different affiliate programs… so why wasn’t it working? Lack of duplication!

I could do it but the people I introduced to the affiliate programs just weren’t duplicating my efforts. Without duplication there was no progress and there never would be.

So I started a marketing team.

I created a website, WeCanAllGet2.com. I made capture pages that everyone on the team could use, I started a forum so we can all get together to share ideas and strategies and now I’m writing this blog so I can share marketing ideas with my team members.

I looked for people that want what I want. People that will put forth effort and have the drive to succeed. People that are willing to learn and are open to new ideas. People that know success doesn’t happen over night. People that want to help others and will work as a team.

This is WeCanAllGet2.com and it works!

Why don’t you join our team? We’d be happy to have you.

Many would-be nonfiction authors make the mistake of not beginning to think about publicity for thei

Many would-be nonfiction authors make the mistake of not beginning to think about publicity for their book until after they have written it. In fact, they don’t even need to write the book until after it has been purchased by a publishing house, but they do need to begin working on publicity prior to ever submitting a proposal to an acquisitions editor. The proposal itself includes a section that details how the author plans on publicizing the book once published; these days, publishing houses do little to help an author in this vein. The publicity and promotion section, along with the author’s platform section, represents a vital part of the book proposal.

If nonfiction authors plan on self-publishing their books, then they also must have a strong, well-thought out publicity and promotion plan long before the manuscript is completed or printed.

One of the books I purchased and read when I first began work on my books Jacqueline Deval’s Publicize Your Book, An Insider’s Guide to Getting Your Book the Attention it Deserves. When I contacted her about participating in this year’s WNFiN blog, she offered me information on how to get started publicizing a book.

There are three core areas of book marketing, according to Deval: advertising (paid ads), promotions (discounts, displays and co-op funds offered by publishers to booksellers) and publicity (getting your book mentioned in the media). The reason authors (and publishers) focus so much attention on publicity is simple: it’s free and it works. As Deval writes, “Publicity—getting your book mentioned in any form of media—earns you the legitimacy of a third-party editorial endorsement, can reach large audiences, and requires relatively little spending. Publicity is where your greatest opportunity lies to contribute to the shape and scope of your campaign. The right media coverage for your book can stimulate measurable sales results that turn your book into a success.”

However, as with all business aspects of writing, we writers have to be coaxed into thinking of ourselves as anything other than writers. “We aren’t publicists,” we say. “We are writers.” But we can be publicists—and we must. “Learning to think like a marketer is a commonsense process that takes place over time,” explains Deval. “It is accomplished largely by paying attention to the media and to the marketplace and thinking about how your book fits in.”

And here’s how she suggest we writers begin:

How to Publicize your Book: Getting Started
by Jacqueline Deval
(From Publicize Your Book)

Look at what other writers have done successfully.

Before you set up a web site or blog, look at other authors’ sites to see what works. Start doing this a year before your book is out.

A site to look at: Jeff Carlson—jverse.com—to see how a site can provide one-stop shopping for readers and the press with press kits, photos, appearance schedules, contests.

Find out what your publisher is planning to do to launch your book.

Talk to your editor about what the house is planning for publicity 6-7 months before your book will be published. Then you can plan whether to hire a freelance publicist or supplement with your own efforts. Many books get a simple press release and review copy mailing. There’s much more to be done, but you may have to initiate it. Start by reading everything you can about book publicity. What to read? Here are four great resources:

PublicityHound.com, a publicity and marketing site run by a former journalist, offers many great ideas for publicity as well as plenty of advice about how to approach reporters—useful in the event you ever set up your own interviews.

Buzz Balls & Hype (mjroseblog.typepad.com/buzz_balls_hype) Lots of smart publicity advice here from novelist MJ Rose.

Galleycat.com This site covers the business of publishing. Check out the frequent coverage of effective author promotions and videos.

Publishers Weekly (publishersweekly.com) Learn about the publishing industry here. Search the word “promote,” and you’ll come up with tons of information about what authors and publishers are doing to market their books.

Build your tribe.

What is a tribe? The people who know and like you or take an interest in your work. Build a mailing list of everyone you know, professionally and personally. You’ll market to this list through emails, postcards, press releases, and invitations to readings. Then you’ll build on that list, particularly as you being to network through online marketing.

About the Author

AMWC has been increasingly growing thanks to supportive readers and enthusiastic members, so I’ve decided to create TWO mailing lists to help our loyal readers keep in touch with AMWC.

The Juiciest Updates on AMWC:

This newsletter will contain updates on latest AMWC posts and happenings. Space will also be provided for advertising purposes at the head of the email so if you wish to explore advertising opportunities with AMWC’s newsletter, email me.

Requests and Collaborations:

Since setting up AMWC, I’ve received countless requests from people who wish to collaborate with members in my club on projects like book cover art, bring a manga to written life etc. Hence I’ve decided to open a second mailing list for such a purpose. If you…

are looking for an artist/illustrator to do illustration such as book cover art,

are looking for a writer to work with you on your comic/manga, OR

are available for (paid or unpaid) commissions (whether art or writing)

If you wish to join both or either of the lists, email me at aspiringmw[at]gmail.com.

To make your requests, please provide me with the following details:

Name

Email

State whether you are available for requests/commissions OR you’ll like to make a request.

If you’re offering your services, write a short paragraph about yourself and whether you accept unpaid commissions.

If you’re making a request, describe what you’re looking for. E.g. an artist to do your book cover. Please provide as much detail about your project as possible.

Thanks ya all~!

NOTE: ALL MAILING LISTS WILL BE SENT OUT EVERY SUNDAY STARTING DECEMBER 09.

Facebook, sebuah jejaring sosial yang bermisi, “giving people the power to share in order to make the world more open and connected place” (terjemahan bebas: memberi kekuasaan bagi individu untuk berbagi untuk menjadikan dunia lebih terbuka dan tersambung), menjadi alat mobilisasi yang strategis.

(end)

One way to build up your client list is to offer a Free Give Away!

Give people a reason to sign up for your mailing list, email list or newsletter. The reason you want to build up your mailing list, is because you want to remind people of your business. Research shows, most people need to see, or hear about your business 13 times before they become a customer. Send out a monthly email with your specials, or share some educational information ( or both ).

Your give away can be anything. For example a Free coupon! Sign up for monthly E mail and receive $20.00 of your next service

If you have a coaching business. Sign up for monthly newsletter and receive a Free game on how to discover what you really want? (make up a fun worksheet, then email to all new sign ups)

You can make up anything to give away. Give people an incentive to receive information about your business. Business can be all about the timing, you never know when they are going to need your service. Keep your name in their minds, so when the timing is right, you will be the one to receive the business!!

This past week was a busy one with two big shows. The first, at R Bar, was my first show with my live band in four months, so it was great to get everyone back together and rock the house. Problem was, the house was pretty small. I was glad to have a few new faces there, and everyone enjoyed the show, but the problem is, when your show is late on a weeknight with a $10 cover charge and your friends are either broke and available or have some money because they’re working past 10pm on a weeknight, that doesn’t make for a big audience. That will be my last weeknight, high-cover-charge gig for the forseeable future. I wish these small venues and bookers would be more flexible about door charges because they really hurt draws for small bands/artists just starting out. Thank god there are some venues that will do shows with no cover where you can pass a tip jar so the musicians still get paid. That makes more sense to me since the venue makes more money off the bar than anything else, and more people in the venue means more money for the bar! Oh well, at least some venue owners understand that. The other option we have is to do gigs at house parties and other spaces where we can control the audience’s experience. So, to that end, our next show will be Saturday, December 19th at a friend’s loft in SoHo, which means no door charge, prime timeslot, free drinks, food, relaxed atmosphere, and good times. Plus we’ll be playing with the amazing Comandante Zero, an excellent electro-funk band out of Brooklyn who are friends of mine, so there’ll be not one but two awesome shows in one spot! I’m really looking forward to that show. If it’s still hard to get a good crowd at a free show on a weekend night with six weeks advance notice, then, to be honest, I’m not really sure what I need to do, haha.

"I don't care what you think, gonna flip my hair and sip my drink!"

The show on Saturday in Central Park had a much better draw because it was Central Park on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, with a mammoth sound system. I had so much fun! I’ve always wanted to perform at the Bandshell and indeed it was a great time. I had a guest spot between house music DJ’s as part of Art for Progress’ Sunset Jam in Central Park, and sang “Anything You Want,” “Dance Dance Dance,” and “Everybody’s Crazy in New York.” Now, if you frequent the Bandshell area of the park, you know the regular crazy people who are always there, and they were there in full force! There’s the guy with the green ‘fro wearing brightly colored women’s clothes with a poodle and a parrot that he dyes crazy colors who skips around as people frantically take his photograph, and then there’s the old guy who either leaps and spins in circles continuously for about ten minutes at a time and never gets tired, or he stands in one spot and shakes his chest up and down as if he were an old, male, crazy Shakira in sweatpants. It’s a sight to see. I go to that area of Central Park all the time and I’ve seen those guys a lot, so it was pretty surreal to have them dancing to my music as I performed it. And it went absolutely perfectly with “Everybody’s Crazy in New York,” LOLOLOLOL. I wrote that song because it’s true, and they’re the perfect evidence of it!

Posin' with a parrot on my head

Breakin' it down NYC style. That parrot has a great sense of balance.

The show was also great because a lot of little kids were there who really liked my music, and it always makes me happy when kids like my music. One little girl came right up to the stage and watched my set and would wave back to me and smile when I waved to her. Then later, she was like “I really liked your songs,” and SANG “Everybody’s Crazy in New York” BACK TO ME! SO CUTE AND AMAZING! Then this tween boy asked me for a hug and to have a dance-off, and this group of tween girls really liked my stuff as well. And another tween girl came up to me and was like “Did you go to Spence?” I swear, I cannot go anywhere or do anything outside without a Spence girl coming up to me! They’re everywhere! And I’d never know it if I weren’t always doing weird things outside! One lady asked if I’d come sing at her Christmas party. Not Christmas songs, my music. Everybody’s crazy in New York…

Me and my new favorite little fan! (in the pink jacket)

...and from her perspective!

One thing that drives me crazy is that no matter how much people like your music and want to take your info to look you up online after a show, people are SO hesitant to sign up for the mailing list, which everyone in the indie music world says is the one thing you HAVE to get people to do. I totally get it because even when I’ve gotten on people’s email lists, I often don’t have time or desire to read the emails, I’ve never bought their music, and I’ve never been to their shows, and I often don’t get on the email list in the first place because of all that. But it’s just hard to have people say they love your music or your show and then decline to ever hear about your shows in the future. You just have to hope they’ll remember to look you up later, which is where getting a song stuck in their heads comes in. But that’s why it’s ALL about getting publicity. If I were getting publicity and people were seeing my name over and over again, they’d start looking me up and having a context in which to think of me. When I hear of something once, I forget about it, but if I keep hearing about it, eventually I check it out. So I’m excited to start pushing for publicity once the album’s done so I can see if it helps the way I hope/think it will.

Hi there!

So we’ve got some preview copies (exclusively for band members and Alfie’s Nan) of our debut E.P to have, hold and cherish finally. They look the part, and feature exclusive artwork by the one and only Alex Mahood. It’s a fantastic feeling to actually hold it, and know that this is our first foot on the musical ladder.

Also, we’ve got some wonderful new Gaoler’s Daughter logo badges. So if you see us at a gig, harass one of us and we might just give you one. It’s exciting to see things moving along at a good pace, and everything seems to be falling into place ready for our E.P release. It feels like only yesterday we were working on our first songs in the toilet factory in Elephant and Castle…Oh, how time flies.

The launch partaaay: It’s at Pure groove Record shop on the 1st of December; you’re all coming right? Good, I thought so, see you there!

There are more details, as ever, on our website, and our myspace. And don’t forget to sign up to our mailing list to receive your FREE track…

Salut

We made much ballyhoo here last month about a $25 iTunes giveaway for joining our mailing list. Earl

We made much ballyhoo here last month about a $25 iTunes giveaway for joining our mailing list. Earlier this week, amid much secrecy, we drew four names off of our mailing list and figured all that remained was to make four members of the Appy Army happy with their gift cards.

Simple, right?

Ah, but as Carl von Clausewitz told us, “Everything in war is simple, but the simplest thing is difficult. The difficulties accumulate and end by producing a kind of friction that is inconceivable unless one has experienced war.”

For the above quote, substitute “software development” for war … or in this specific case, substitute “marketing of software development” for war.

von Clausewitz

We’re babbling.

OK, here’s what’s going on.

Our winners came from Brazil, Germany, Austria, and the United Kingdom. Awesome! We love our international players. But … Apple apparently doesn’t allow us to purchase iTunes Gift Cards or codes for any store but the one where we’re registered (the United States). So, getting codes to our international winners has been one of those simple things that has accumulated von Clausewitz’s inconceivable friction.

And it is not just the major issue of international payments that is vexing us. Turns out that for on-line certificates, Apple only permits denominations divisible by ten … so we can’t actually award a $25 certificate. Instead, it just became $30 USD. Ah, well, more love for our players, that’s fine. But only two of the four winners have actually contacted us to verify their email addresses! So to our German and British winners … write us back! We have a prize for you (provided we can figure how to send it out of the country).

All of which is our problem, and not yours, and we sincerely apologize for the delay in awarding prizes. We’ll get it dialed in one way or the other!

But there will be some changes for the December drawing:

The drawing will be for a $20 USD iTunes gift code.

The recipient must accept a U.S. code (many of our overseas friends have already set up accounts in the U.S. iTunes store).

We will draw five names, rather than four, for the December drawing.

We’re sorry for the inconvenience this will cause our international players, but at this hour we really don’t see a way around the way Apple handles international iTunes gifts. If anyone out there has any insight or work-arounds for us, we’re all ears!

Thanks!

(And if you want to sign up for our goofy list, click HERE … but please be a resident of our solar system, it is so much easier that way).

When you graduate from college, your circle of friends will inevitably do two things: #1 – Pro

When you graduate from college, your circle of friends will inevitably do two things: #1 – Promise to visit each other and stay friends forever and ever and ever, and #2 – Create a mailing list with a clever title, like “She Wolves” or “Homies Sweet Homies.” Really, #2 is for when you realize that #1 won’t work out, especially if your friends are bankers.

The friends’ mailing list is sacred: within its archives, you will find serious discussions, biting arguments, soliloquies, confessions, rambles, insults, and of course, gossip. On my mailing list, some recent topics of conversation included: Halloween costumes, celebrity baby names, spelling, becoming fat because your friends are fat, thoughts on academic freedom/torture, and Miley Cyrus. Naturally.

Of course, besides heated discussion about talentless seventeen year-olds, the main purpose of the mailing list is to share absurd links with your friends. So, here are some obscure links from my industrious group of procrastinating friends.

Ad for “Georgetown sophomore seeking a personal assistant“: Apparently, the sophomore is looking for a fellow undergrad to be his bitch: to “organize closet / make bed / and do laundry” for him, amongst other tasks. He’ll pay $12/hour, plus “bonus” opportunities. This has got to be the most blatant case of sex-soliciting in DC since Larry Craig.

Profile of Ashley Tellis, Senior Associate at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace: With the message, “What would an ‘Ashley Tellis’ look like to you? I think: white, mid-40s, hippie parents with a questionable taste in first names.” See the picture above, from the link to Carnegie’s website. Yes, that is Ashley Tellis. Viva assimilation!

The Cat Game: Okay, I have to admit that my mom actually sent this to me. But then a college friend sent it as well, so I suppose my mom is just that cool (or, my friends are just that lame). This may ruin a good half-hour of your time, but it’s worth it when you finally corral that stupid black cat.
