<p>I came across this anecdote involving <em>Majaz</em>, which I feel has to to be featured by itself for more effect. Not only does it focus on the perils of mispronouncing Urdu words, it also displays a typical <em>Lakhnavi</em> response. I do honestly promise I will provide an explanation at the end.</p>
<p>Hyderabad Dakkan mein <em><strong>&#8220;Qaf&#8221; </strong>(Q for English-speakers)</em> ki jagah aam taur par log <em><strong>&#8220;Khe&#8221;</strong> (Kh for them only) </em>bolte hain.<br />
Kisi Hyderabadi ne <em>Majaz</em> ko ek dawat par madu karte hue kaha: <em>&#8220;Majaz sahab! Kal meri azizah ki takhreeb</em> (when he hopefully meant (<em>Taqreeb) hai. Ghareeb khane par tashreef layen.&#8221;<br />
Majaz </em>ne khauf-zada ho kar jawab diya-<br />
<em>&#8220;Nahin sahab. Mujhe se yeh dardnak manzar nahi dekha ja sakega.&#8221;</em></p>
<p>Now, I can hear the clamour for explanations. It is a proverbial mistake to analyse a joke but what can be done. Though the word <em>&#8216;Takhreeb&#8217; </em>sounds virtually similar to<em> &#8216;Taqreeb&#8217;</em> as far as pronounciation is concerned, the meanings of the two are vastly divergent as you will appreciate.<em>  &#8216;Taqreeb&#8217;</em> means a festival or in this case, a celebration. On the other hand, <em>&#8216;Takhreeb&#8217;</em> means <em>ujarhna  ya barbaadi </em>or plunder or devastation. So then one can understand <em>Majaz&#8217;s</em> look of horror and his unwillingness to witness such a gory spectacle&#8230;. going by the pronounciation of the ostensibly earnest gentleman of Hyderabad, who thought he had courteously tendered <em>Majaz </em>an invitation to a feast.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Asrar ul-Haq <em>Majaz Lakhnavi</em> is a frequent presence in this endeavour. He occupies a stellar position in the constellation of Urdu poetry due to his abundant talent, his rich vocabulary and imagery, a rhythmic cadence and so many of the attributes that are the hallmark of a great poet. His death at a tragically young age was a great loss. This ghazal of <em>Majaz</em> not only demonstrates his virtuosity but is also a perfect example of the Lucknow school &#8211; in its ornate language (which never turns cumbersome or pompous),  the delicate emotions it shows &#8211; or in other words, <em>woh nazakat aur nafasat jo Lakhnavi tehzeeb mein payi jaati hain. </em>Some may also note that the fourth <em>sher</em> and the <em>maqta</em> of this incomparable work can be heard in Guru Dutt&#8217;s immortal <em>Pyaasa</em>. Those who have heard it there can relish the full ghazal here. <em>Lutf uthayen&#8230;&#8230;.</em></p>

<title><![CDATA[A parody of Majaz's 'Awaara']]></title>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>A parody is usually something that mocks, comments on, or pokes fun at an original work, its subject, author, style, or some other target, by means of humorous, satiric or ironic imitation. However, as a literary theorist puts it: &#8220;Parody … is imitation with a critical difference, not always at the expense of the parodied text.&#8221; Sometimes, a parody does the original work a signal service by generating more interest in it &#8211; and a work &#8211; good or bad &#8211; has to be well known enough for someone to parody it, otherwise the whole point is lost.</p>
<p>Parody is a genre that works well in various languages and Urdu is no exception. Take the example I will cite. It is a clever parody of Majaz&#8217;s famous nazm <em>&#8216;Awaara&#8217; ,</em> which I have talked about earlier. By Mahboob Rahi, this could be a clever and ingenious work in its own right had it not followed the <em>&#8216;tarz&#8217;</em> of Majaz&#8217;s nazm. </p>
<p>Missing the vivid imagery and metaphors Majaz had employed in the original, Rahi instead uses humour and trenchant satire to drive home the point but is no less dark and also succeeds in creating the sense of anguish one imagines Majaz must have felt and is also the first response of a sensitive reader. It is certain that there will be something he mentions which a reader can identify with it and several might find more then one grouse they might also have and is expertly conveyed. Rahi does manage to cover a lot of aspects &#8211; politicial, economic and social - in the few verses, which is a marked achievement, and very humorously &#8211; to boot.</p>
<p>The poemcan be enjoyed by those who  might have never even heard of Majaz or his nazm (and I do guess there will be lots of these) but the enjoyment is much enhanced if the original is read first thus giving a frame of reference for comparison. However, I have already put the nazm here and those who want to read it must take the trouble to scroll down and find it&#8230;&#8230; <em><strong>(Khawatin o hazraat, mazrat chahunga is taklif ke liye&#8230;&#8230;)</strong></em></p>
<p>Meanwhile, here is the parody. Enjoy/lutf uthayen&#8230;&#8230;   As some of you may find it difficult to understand English words used by Rahi sahab, I will just mention the third word in the first line is the plural of cars, as said in Hindustani/Urdu/Hindi. Rest you make out by repeating the word sometimes till you get it. Is a good exercise to augment mental acuity, too</p>

Aap biryani udayen aur main bhooka rahun<br />
Bebasi ka apni kiske saamne shikwa karun<br />

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>I do not really know if the title is appropriate for these series of posts, given that most of them are about one man only but then, Majaz is the one with the greatest number of anecdotes in his brilliant but short life. So here are some more about him.</p>
<p>This one is the best about him and was first told to me by Kidwai sahab, and then I found it in Ahmed Jamal Pasha&#8217;s collection of anecdotes. However to relish it, one needs more than passing acquaintance with Urdu poetry. I will explain afterwards.</p>
<p>Kisi mushairah mein Majaz apni ghazal padh rahe the. Mehfil pure rang mein thi aur samain khamoshi ke saath kalam sun rahe the ke itne mein kisi khatoon ki godh mein unka sheer-khwar bachcha zor zor se rone laga.<br />
Majaz ne aapni ghazal ka sher adhura chorhte huye, hairan hokar pucha &#8211; <em>&#8220;Bhaee! Yeh Naqsh fairiyadi hain kis ki shokhi tehreer ka!&#8221; </em></p>
<p>Those who know will quietly chuckle over the apt use of one of Urdu poetry&#8217;s most famous couplets, dexterously employed by Majaz in a situation the writer could have never imagined. But then this was a mark of his genius. Now for the uninitiated,   <em>Naqsh fairiyadi hain kis ki shokhi tehreer ka </em>is the first misra of the opening ghazal of Ghalibs&#8217;s diwan. Even Faiz used the first two words as the title of a collection of his poems.</p>
<p>This one is another proof of his &#8220;hazir jawaab&#8221; or the gift of repartee.</p>

<p>Majaz aur Firaq ke darmiyan badhi sanjidah guftagu ho rahi thi ke achanak Firaq ne Majaz ko cherhne ke liya kaha - <em>&#8220;Majaz! Tumne kabab bechne kab se band kar diye?&#8221;</em>  Majaz ne jawab diya &#8211; &#8220;<em>Jab se apne gosht bechna chorh diya.&#8221;</em></p>
<p>And here is poor Salam Machlishahri being worsted again.</p>
<p>Nashe mein jab Majaz aur Salam mein sher-o-shairi par baat hoti to dono ek doosre par apni azmat ka sikka jamane ke liye sabit karte the ke -<em> &#8220;Main tumse badha shair hoon&#8221;.<br />
</em>Aise hi mauqe par ek baar Salaam ne un se angrezi mein kaha &#8211; <em>&#8220;Majaz is dead but Salam is still living and kicking.&#8221;<br />
</em>Majaz ne iska tarjuma karte huye kaha &#8211; <em>&#8220;Majaz to mar gaya hain, lekin Salam ab tak zinda hain aur do-lattian jhadh raha hain.&#8221;</em></p>
<p>Poor Salam did&#8217;nt have much luck. See the following one, in which Majaz is not there (and then I had to sneak in an anecdote or two about other poets).</p>
<p>Aligarh University ke all-India mushaire mein Salam Machlishahri nazm padh rahe the ke ek ladke ne daad di. Salam sahab naraz ho gaye aur kaha &#8211; <em>&#8220;Yeh kaun ladka hain jisne nazm khatam hone se pehle hi daad di hain? Yeh ladka adab-e-mushairah se waqif nahin. Nazm ek mukammal unit hoti hai. Jab nazm khatam ho jaye to, to daad di jaati hai.&#8221;<br />
</em>Nazm khatm hone par ladkon ne daad ka toofan barpa kar diya. Daad ka silsila jaari hi tha Salam sahab bole &#8211; <em>&#8220;Aisa hi ek aur nazm mulaeza farmaye.&#8221;<br />
</em>Abhi nazm shuru hi ki thi ke wohi ladka bola &#8211; <em>&#8220;Salam sahab jab aap khud adab-e-mushairah se nawaqif hain. Abhi daad ka silsila jaari hai aur aapne doosri nazm shuru kar di.&#8221; </em></p>
<p>And to return to Majaz needling Salam.</p>
<p>Lakhnau mein ek numaish mein Majaz apne gehre dost Salam Machlishahri ke saath tahal rahe the. Numaish ke muntazameen ki taraf se loudspeaker par khoye hue bachchon ki shanakht ke elaanaat barabar jaari ho rahe the. Majaz ko kuch der baad shararat sooji aur Salam sahab ko ek jagah baitha kar jaldi se numaish ke daftar pahunche.<br />
Aur thodi der baad loudspeaker se elaan ho raha tha &#8211; <em>&#8220;Ek bachcha jis ka naam Salam hain aur soorat se Machlishahri maalum hota hain jin sahab ko mile daftar pahuncha den.&#8221; </em></p>

<p style="text-align:justify;line-height:normal;"><span style="font-size:12pt;"><span style="font-family:Calibri;">El congelamiento de las cuentas se da en salvaguarda de la reparación civil a favor de los ciudadanos peruanos que fueron secuestrados y torturados el año 2005 por las fuerzas policiales y la empresa de seguridad privada Forza que le prestaba servicios a Minera Río Blanco. </span></span></p>

<p style="text-align:justify;line-height:normal;"><span style="font-size:12pt;"><span style="font-family:Calibri;">El fallo de la corte británica ha hecho primar el principio que las multinacionales son jurídicamente responsables por las violaciones de derechos humanos que sucedan en sus actividades en el extranjero. En efecto, un tema que ha sido recurrente en los últimos años es la afectación de los derechos humanos por parte de empresas multinacionales y la falta de un marco legal internacional vinculante que permita sancionarlas.</span></span></p>

Esta decisión se da en un contexto muy importante  ya que en  abril de este año se publicó el Informe de John Ruggie, Representante Especial del Secretario General de las Naciones Unidas para la consulta global sobre  Derechos Humanos y Empresas Transnacionales.  </span></span></p>

<p style="text-align:justify;line-height:normal;"><span style="font-size:12pt;"><span style="font-family:Calibri;">En el informe de Ruggie, titulado <em>“La empresa y los derechos humanos: la puesta en práctica del marco proteger, respetar y remediar”</em>, se plantea como interrogante: ¿En un contexto de crisis económica es pertinente proponer el tema de los derechos humanos y las empresas transnacionales? </span></span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;line-height:normal;"><span style="font-size:12pt;"><span style="font-family:Calibri;"> </span></span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;line-height:normal;"><span style="font-family:Calibri;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">La respuesta es un sí contundente por tres razones: i) en tiempos de crisis los derechos peligran más; ii) la existencia de un “entorno permisivo”, que provocó la crisis económica, puede generar un peor comportamiento de las empresas hacia los derechos humanos; por lo que </span><span style="font-size:12pt;" lang="ES-TRAD">el fortalecimiento del régimen internacional de derechos humanos contra los abusos de las empresas contribuirá a la transición universalmente deseada hacia una economía mundial más incluyente y sostenible, y se beneficiará de ella, y iii) el marco &#8220;proteger, respetar y remediar&#8221; identifica medidas concretas para alcanzar estos objetivos. </span></span></p>

<p>Acá no le dieron mucha bola a los torturados por la policía a las órdenes de los dueños de Monterrico Metals. Bueno, tampoco fueron indiferentes, <a href="http://notasdesdelenovo.wordpress.com/2009/02/22/periodista-piurano-amenazado-de-muerte-confia-en-la-justicia/" target="_blank">los denunciaron por terrorismo e invasión a la propiedad privada</a>&#8230; por protestar.</p>
<p>La historia es diferente en la justicia inglesa, que hace unos meses <a href="http://amazilia.wordpress.com/2009/06/19/justicia-para-majaz/" target="_blank">congeló las cuentas de la minera</a> para que no puedan trasladarlas a otro país con la intención de eludir parte de su responsabilidad, indemnizar a los torturados. Ahora, <a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/oct/18/peru-monterrico-metals-mining-protest" target="_blank">The Guardian</a> informa que está por iniciarse el juicio contra la compañía.</p>

<title><![CDATA[Tarannum mein.... How singing a ghazal or any lyric lends it more meaning ]]></title>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p> Any poetic work is supposedly meant to be read but sometimes acquires much more fame and even deeper meaning when chanted or even sung. It could be valid for all literary traditions, but let me deal with the case of Urdu poetry.</p>
<p>At any mushaira, the overwhelming demand from the gathering is for the poet to recite them in &#8216;tarannum&#8217; or in rhythm. However, only a few poets could and can do it with flair.</p>
<p>Majaz was one and most of his work bears a rhythmic cadence which makes it suitable for recital. Sahir Ludhianvi was another, of whom someone has said his voice and effect were akin to his name,  and closer to the current era, Wasim Barelvi is one of the few that people look forward to hearing.</p>
<p>On the flip side, I was once told that if once listened to Faiz Ahmed Faiz recite his poetry himself, <em>&#8220;aapko un ke kalam se nafrat ho jaati.&#8221;  </em>However, Faiz had some help in popularising him in those not even remotely connected with the pleasures of sher-o-shairi or in his Left-wing world, as I will mention below.</p>
<p>Most poets usually depend on singers to imbue their work with rhythm and meaning. Of such singers, Saigal, Noor Jahan, Ghulam Ali, Begum Akhtar and Nayyara Noor were the most renowned and have brought many known and less well-known shairs to the attention of the people at large. Closer to home and time, were Talat Mehmood and Suraiyya, who both  lent a rare meaning to Ghalib&#8217;s ghazals in the eponymous film, which in my opinion no one has bettered&#8230; at least for the ghazals in question.</p>
<p>Be it the duet treatment to <em>&#8220;Dil-e-Nadaan, tujhe hua kya hain?&#8221; </em>or Suraiyya sparkling with <em>&#8220;Aah ka chahiye ek umr asr hone tak&#8221;</em> and the slight hesitance that gave an allure to her voice, perfectly reflected in <em>&#8220;Nukta cheen hain&#8221; .</em> Even Rafi excelled the ligh-heartedness he gave to <em>&#8220;Har bas har ek unke ishare mein&#8221;</em>.</p>
<p>Nehru, who saw the film, complimented Suraiyya on her rendition: <em>&#8220;Ladki, tumne Ghalib ki rooh zinda kar di,&#8221;</em> he said. It is my guess that &#8220;Chacha&#8221; himself would have approved and as one hopes, fully content after listening to it in some astral plane.</p>
<p>Returning to Faiz, the poet himself is said to have sat entranced as the <em>&#8216;Mallika-e-Tarranum&#8217;</em> Noor Jehan rendered his <em>&#8220;Mujh se pehli se mohabbat mere mehboob na maang&#8221;</em> and later observed she had brought out so many nuances in the nazm that even overwhelmed him.</p>
<p>He also has cause to be grateful to the dulcet, perfectly-modulated tones of Nayyara Noor, whose renditions of his poems can be thought to be a standard. Listen to <em>&#8220;Hum ke thehre ajnabi itni madaraaton ke baad&#8221; </em>to get an idea.</p>
<p>There are many singers who have become famous by singing ghazals and nazms of famous poets but sometimes, an unknown poet can be catapulted into the ranks of the famous after a well-known singer lends voice to the composition.</p>
<p>I was once told that Begum Akhtar was on her way to the stage to perform when someone in the crowd pressed a hand-written ghazal into her hand. The Begum did spare a moment to read it and liking it, used it in the same concert, mentioning the poet&#8217;s name. This was how Sudershan &#8216;Faakir&#8217; came to the notice of a greater audience. I am not sure which ghazal it was but i think it was <em>&#8220;Ae mohabbat tere anjaam pe rona aaya&#8221;,</em> which remains his most well-known work.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>An anecdote is a short interesting or amusing biographical account, supposed to be based on a real incident involving actual persons, mostly famous ones of whom someone might do like to hear about.</p>
<p>Possibly being as brief as the setting and provocation of a &#8216;bon mot&#8217; ,<br />
anecdotes are sometimes humorous but are not jokes. This is because their primary purpose is not simply to evoke laughter, but to reveal a truth more general than the brief tale itself, or to delineate a character trait in such a light that it strikes in a flash of insight to their very essence.</p>
<p>There are volumes of anecdotes about literary figures, some of which show them applying their craft in real life and gives an example of how pervasive their art was.</p>
<p>My purpose here is not to dissect and the genre, but to recount some anecdotes concerning Urdu poets. I will give them in their original language as it is more expressive and effective. Those who do not understand something may well ask, if they like.</p>
<p>I begin with an oft-cited tale about the &#8220;Shair-e-Inquilab&#8221;, Shabbir Hasan Khan &#8216;Josh Malihabadi&#8217; himself.</p>
<p>Josh Malihabadi Maulana Abul Kalam Azad se mulaqaat ke liye unki kothi par pahunche. Wahan mulaqaatiyon ki bheed pehle se hi maujud thi. Kafi der tak intezar ke baad bhi jab mulaqaat ke liye Josh sahab ki baari nahi aayi to unhone ukta kar ek chit par yeh sher likh kar chaprasi ke haath Maulana ki khidmat mein bhijva diya</p>
<p><em>&#8220;Namunasib hai khoon khaulana<br />
Phir kisi aur waqt, Maulana&#8221;</em></p>
<p>Maulana sher padh kar muskuraye aur fauran Josh sahab ko andar bula liya.</p>
<p>Another one:</p>
<p>Bombai mein Josh sahab ek aise makaan mein thehre, jis mein oopar ki manzil par ek adakara rehti thi. Makaan ki sakhat kuch aisi thi ke uski deedar na ho sakta tha, lihaza Josh sahab ne yeh rubai&#8217;yee likhi:<br />
<em> </em></p>
<p><em>&#8220;Kamre ki chhat pe hai us but ka makaan<br />
Jalwe ka nahi hain phir bhi koi imkaan<br />
Goya ae &#8216;Josh&#8217; main hoon aisa mazdoor<br />
Jo bhook mein uthaye huye khvaan&#8221;</em> </p>
<p>There are several more about Josh, which i will relate but another poet who has a large number of anecdotes despite his tragically brief life and career is Asrar-ul-Haq &#8216;Majaz Lakhnavi&#8217;. In fact, there used to be a slim volume, called <em>&#8220;Majaz ke Latife&#8221;</em> which used to be eagerly sought after but is long unavailable. Thankfully, an enterprising publisher has included it in a recently-published collection of Majaz&#8217;s poetry, making the medium size volume &#8211; priced at a reasonable Rs.100 (Rs.60 if you get if from the publisher&#8217;s outlet in the bylanes of Delhi-6 and Rs.85 if from the admirable Jamia Maktaba shop, opposite Jama Masjid).</p>
<p>But now a tale or too about Majaz&#8230;. What comes to mind is one having Josh too</p>
<p>Josh Malihabadi ba laamum sharab peete waqt time-piece saamne rakh lete aur har pandrah minute ke baad naya peg banate the lekin yeh pabandi aksar teesre chauthe peg ke baad &#8216;nazar-e-jaam&#8217; ho jaati thi.<br />
Ek sohbat mein unhone pehla peg halq mein andhelne ke baad apne timepiece ki taraf ishaare karte huye Majaz se kaha. <em>&#8220;Dekho Majaz! Main kitni ba qaidgi se sharaab peete hoon. Agar tum bhi ghadi saamne rakh kar piya karo, to bad-ihtiyaati se mahfuz rahoge.&#8221;<br />
</em>Majaz chahakte hue bole: <em>&#8220;Ghadi to kya Josh sahab! Mera bas chale to ghada saamne rakh kar piya karun&#8230;.&#8221;</em></p>

<p>Integrantes del <strong>Frente por el Desarrollo de la Frontera Norte del Perú</strong> llegaron a Lima para exigir al gobierno el cierre de la <a href="http://enlacenacional.com/2009/08/06/organizacion-integrando-desmiente-que-tengan-relacion-con-minera-rio-blanco-en-piura/">minera Río Blanco</a> por considerarla ilegal. Esta empresa viene operando por más de 5 años en las provincias de Ayabaca y Huancabamba en la región Piura. “Lo que pedimos al Gobierno es el cierre de minas. Porque ya venció hace dos años la fecha de abandono. Asimismo se respete la legalidad de la propiedad del terreno. Es decir la empresa está de una forma ilegal en la zona porque no tiene ningún permiso de las comunidades”, sostuvo <strong>Carlos Martínez</strong>, alcalde de San Ignacio, Cajamarca.</p>

<p>Además, los integrantes de dicho frente que agrupa también a rondas y comunidades campesinas de Cajamarca y Piura, denunciaron una presunta relación entre miembros de la Policía Nacional y la minera Río Blanco. Así lo demuestran estas planillas de la empresa minera en la que firmaron los efectivos. “Esos 150 policías aproximadamente su alimentación era financiada no por Alicorp, sino por la empresa minera Río Blanco Cooper”, precisó Martínez.</p>
<p>Asimismo, tras la denuncia, se informó que el 15 de octubre se reiniciará el diálogo entre las comunidades y el Ministerio de Energía y Minas, la Presidencia del Consejo de Ministros, así como la Defensoría del Pueblo. Ello en el marco del segundo aniversario de la consulta vecinal en Huancabamba respecto a la actividad minera.</p>

Banyak sekali manfaat yang bisa didapat dari pelajaran-pelajaran tersebut. Hendaklah seorang tholibul ilmi untuk bersemangat dalam belajar ilmu ini. Salah satu pembahasan dalam pelajaran ushul fiqh adalah pembahasan makna majaz dan haqiqi.<span> <!--more--></span></span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0 0 10pt;"><strong><span style="font-family:&#34;"><span style="font-size:small;">Makna <em>haqiqi</em> dan <em>majazi</em></span></span></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;margin:0 0 10pt;"><span style="font-family:&#34;"><span style="font-size:small;">Dalam ilmu bahasa, kita mengenal adanya makna kata <em>haqiqi</em> dan makna <em>majaz</em> dalam suatu kata tertentu. Semisal kita katakan sebuah kata tertentu dan kita ambil contoh kata “singa”. Dari kata singa ini kita bisa pahami dua makna. Secara haqiqi singa berarti salah satu jenis hewan buas, sebagaimana yang sudah dipahami oleh kita. Namun secara majaz, kata “singa” bisa kita artikan sebagai orang laki-laki yang pemberani.<em> </em></span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;margin:0 0 10pt;"><span style="font-family:&#34;"><span style="font-size:small;">Makna <em>haqiqi </em>adalah suatu lafadz yang digunakan pada makna aslinya. Sedangkan makna majaz adalah kata yang digunakan pada makna yang bukan makna aslinya. Semisal contoh yang telah kami sampaikan di atas.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;margin:0 0 10pt;"><span style="font-family:&#34;"><span style="font-size:small;">Sekilas tentang keberadaan majaz dalam bahasa, khususnya bahasa Arab, adalah suatu perkara yang diperselisihkan oleh para ulama. Ada ulama yang mengingkari keberadaan majaz secara mutlak. Para ulama yang berpendapat demikian, mengingkari keberadaan majaz, baik dalam Al Quran maupun dalam bahasa Arab. Diantara ulama yang berpendapat demikian adalah Syaikhul Islam Ibnu Taimiyah dan muridnya, Ibnu Qayim Al Jauziyah rahimahumallahu. (<em>Ma’alim Ushulil Fiqh </em>hal. 114-115). <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;margin:0 0 10pt;"><span style="font-family:&#34;"><span style="font-size:small;">Ulama lain, ada yang menetapkan bahwa ada majaz dalam bahasa arab, tetapi tidak ada majaz dalam Al Quran. Ada juga yang mengatakan bahwa ada majaz dalam bahasa Al Quran dengan memberi batasan, tidak ada majaz pada ayat-ayat yang menunjukkan tentang sifat-sifat Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala dan ada majaz pada ayat-ayat selain itu. </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;margin:0 0 10pt;"><span style="font-size:small;"><em><span style="font-family:&#34;">‘Ala kuli haal</span></em><span style="font-family:&#34;">, sebagaimana yang dikatakan oleh Ibnu Qudamah <em>rahimahullahu</em>, bahwa perbedaan pendapat para ulama tersebut adalah sebatas perbedaan lafadz semata, dan bukan perbedaan <em>ushuliyah</em>, tidak ada faidah untuk mempermasalahkan masalah ini. <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;margin:0 0 10pt;"><span style="font-size:small;"><strong><span style="font-family:&#34;">Akan tetapi perlu diperhatikan bahwa pemahaman tidak adanya majaz pada ayat-ayat yang menunjukkan sifat-sifat Allah adalah ijma’ ahlis sunnah, yang menyelisihi firqah mu’tazilah.</span></strong></span></p>

Artinya: tidaklah kita memaknai suatu kata dengan makna majaz, kecuali terdapat dalil yang shohih dan alasan yang kuat sehingga bisa menghalangi kita untuk memaknai kata tersebut dengan makna aslinya</span></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;margin:0 0 10pt;"><span style="font-family:&#34;"><span style="font-size:small;">Maka berdasarkan hal ini, tidak bisa kita katakan suatu majaz yang tidak memiliki ‘alaqah. Semisal kita katakan : “Aku makan meja di waktu pagi” (yang dimaksud adalah makan roti). Tidak ada hubungan antara meja dan roti, maka kalimat tersebut tidak bisa kita pakai sebagai majaz.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;margin:0 0 10pt;"><strong><span style="font-family:&#34;"><span style="font-size:small;">Kesesatan Mu’tazilah</span></span></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;margin:0 0 10pt;"><span style="font-family:&#34;"><span style="font-size:small;">Firqah Mu’tazilah telah sesat pada penggunaan majaz dalam aqidah mereka, dimana mereka menggunakan majaz ketika menafsirkan ayat-ayat tentang sifat Allah ‘Azza wa Jalla. Ketika Allah berfirman :</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:right;margin:0 0 10pt;" align="right"><span style="font-size:16pt;color:black;line-height:115%;font-family:&#34;" dir="rtl" lang="AR-SA">قَالَ يَا إِبْلِيسُ مَا مَنَعَكَ أَنْ تَسْجُدَ لِمَا خَلَقْتُ <span style="text-decoration:underline;">بِيَدَيَّ</span> أَسْتَكْبَرْتَ أَمْ كُنْتَ مِنَ الْعَالِينَ </span><span style="font-family:&#34;" lang="AR-SA"><span><span style="font-size:small;"> </span></span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;margin:0 0 10pt;"><span style="font-family:&#34;"><span style="font-size:small;">“Allah berfirman, Wahai Iblis, apakah yang menghalangimu untuk sujud kepada (Adam), yang Aku ciptakan dengan kedua Tangan-Ku, Apakah kamu menyombongkan diri atau kamu merasa termasuk golongan yang (lebih) tinggi. (Shad : 75)” </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;margin:0 0 10pt;"><span style="font-family:&#34;"><span style="font-size:small;">Mereka (mu’tazilah dan yang sejalan dengan meraka), memaknai kata “Tangan Allah” dengan “Kekuatan Allah”. Mereka mengatakan bahwa ada ‘alaqah (hubungan) antara kata “tangan” dan “kekuatan”. Dan mereka juga menetapkan adanya qarinah (penghalang untk memaknai makna haqiqi), yaitu mereka takut untuk menyamakan Allah dengan makhluk-Nya, ketika kata tersebut dimaknai dengan makna haqiqi. Sehingga lengkaplah syarat majaz yang mereka tetapkan, dan terpenuhilah syarat majaz dalam penafsiran meraka. <span> </span><span> </span></span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;margin:0 0 10pt;"><span style="font-family:&#34;"><span style="font-size:small;">Maka kita katakan : Memang antara makna tangan dan makna kekuatan memiliki hubungan (Al ‘Alaqah) dan hubungan kedua kata ini lazim digunakan. Akan tetapi qarinah yang mereka jadikan sebagai alasan <em>tahriif </em>(penyimpangan makna) mereka adalah qarinah yang tidak bisa diterima. Mengapa? Karena menetapkan adanya Tangan bagi Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala, bukan berarti menyamakan Tangan Allah dengan tangan makluk-Nya. <strong>Kesamaan nama tidak melazimkan kesamaan hakikat.</strong></span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;margin:0 0 10pt;"><span style="font-family:&#34;"><span style="font-size:small;">Berdasarkan hal ini, maka jelaslah bagi kita kesesatan orang mu’tazilah dan orang-orang yang sepemikiran dengan mereka. Mereka telah menetapkan majaz bagi sifat-sifat Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala, padahal pada majaz yang mereka tetapkan tidak terpenuhi syarat-syarat majaz.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;margin:0 0 10pt;"><strong><span style="font-family:&#34;"><span style="font-size:small;">Definisi Haqiqi</span></span></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;margin:0 0 10pt;"><span style="font-family:&#34;"><span style="font-size:small;">Makna <em>haqiqi </em>adalah suatu lafadz yang digunakan pada makna aslinya. Dijelaskan oleh para ulama ushul bahwa makna haqiqi ada tiga macam :</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpFirst" style="text-indent:-.25in;text-align:justify;margin:0 0 0 .5in;"><span style="font-family:&#34;"><span><span style="font-size:small;">1.</span><span style="font:7pt &#34;"> </span></span></span><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="font-family:&#34;">Haqiqi secara bahasa (<em>lughoh</em>), yaitu kata yang digunakan dalam makna aslinya dari sudut pandang bahasa. Semisal kata sholat/<em>as sholatu</em> (</span><span style="font-family:&#34;" dir="rtl" lang="AR-SA">الصلاة</span><span style="font-family:&#34;">) berarti doa/ad du’aau (</span><span style="font-family:&#34;" dir="rtl" lang="AR-SA">الدعاء</span><span style="font-family:&#34;">).<strong></strong></span></span></p>
<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="text-indent:-.25in;text-align:justify;margin:0 0 0 .5in;"><span style="font-family:&#34;"><span><span style="font-size:small;">2.</span><span style="font:7pt &#34;"> </span></span></span><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="font-family:&#34;">Haqiqi secara syari’at, yaitu suatu lafadz yang digunakan pada makna sebenarnya dari tinjauan syar’iat. Semisal kata sholat/<em>as sholatu</em> (</span><span style="font-family:&#34;" dir="rtl" lang="AR-SA">الصلاة</span><span style="font-family:&#34;">), berarti gerakan dan ucapan yang tertentu diawali dengan takbir dan diakhiri dengan salam, dalam rangka mendekatkan diri kepada Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala, demikian makna sholat secara syariat.<strong></strong></span></span></p>
<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpLast" style="text-indent:-.25in;text-align:justify;margin:0 0 10pt .5in;"><span style="font-family:&#34;"><span><span style="font-size:small;">3.</span><span style="font:7pt &#34;"> </span></span></span><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="font-family:&#34;">Haqiqi secara adat-istiadat (<em><span style="text-decoration:underline;">‘urfiyah</span></em>), adalah kata yang digunakan pada makna yanga sebenarnya dari tinjauan ‘urfiyah. Semisal kata <em>al waladu </em>(</span><span style="font-family:&#34;" dir="rtl" lang="AR-SA">الولد</span><span style="font-family:&#34;">) yang secara bahasa artinya anak kecil baik laki-laki maupun perempuan, tetapi makna <em>al waladu </em>secara ‘urfiyah adalah anak kecil laki-laki.<strong></strong></span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;margin:0 0 10pt;"><span style="font-family:&#34;"><span style="font-size:small;">Maka dari pembagian jenis-jenis <em>haqiqi</em> ini, dapat kita ambil suatu faidah. Hendaklah kita meletakkan makna-makna tersebut pada tempatnya masing-masing. Artinya jika kita sedang berbicara dalam permasalahan bahasa, maka hendaklah kita memaknai kata tersebut dengan haqiqi secara bahasa. Jika kita sedang berbicara tentang masalah agama/syari’at, maka hendaklah kita memaknai kata tersebut dengan haqiqi secara syari’at. Begitu pula dengan haqiqi urfiyah.</span></span></p>

<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="text-align:justify;margin:0 0 0 27pt;"><span style="font-family:&#34;"><span style="font-size:small;">Ketahuilah, bahwa permasalahan ini (yaitu penempatan makna jenis-jenis haqiqi) merupakan titik kesalahan orang-orang liberal yang menyebabkan mereka jatuh kepada kekufuran. <em>Wal</em>‘<em>iyadzubillah.</em></span></span></p>
<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="text-align:justify;margin:0 0 0 27pt;"><em><span style="font-family:&#34;"><span style="font-size:small;"> </span></span></em></p>
<p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpLast" style="text-align:justify;margin:0 0 10pt 27pt;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="font-family:&#34;">Orang liberal tidak menempatkan makna-makna haqiqi tersebut pada tempatnya masing-masing, sesuai konteks pembicaraan. Ketika mereka berbicara pada konteks pembicaraan syari’at, mereka mengartikan kata Al Islam (</span><span style="font-family:&#34;" dir="rtl" lang="AR-SA">الإسلام</span><span style="font-family:&#34;">), dengan makna al islam secara bahasa yang artinya adalah pasrah dan berserah diri. Maka setiap orang yang pasrah dan berserah diri sudah dikatakan sebagai orang yang Islam, baik dia orang Nashrani, Yahudi, penyembah berhala atau yang lainnya, <em>Wal’iyadzubillah</em>. Dan jelas ini adalah bentuk kekafiran berdasarkan ijma’ para ulama, dimana mereka tidak mengakui kekafiran orang-orang yang dikafirkan oleh Allah dan Rasulullah. <em>Nas’alullaha assalamata min afkaarihim.</em></span></span></p>

Fiscalía Penal de Piura. Ha abandonado su trabajo como periodista para protegerse e informa que los otros campesinos torturados en el 2005 como él -en un campamento de la empresa minera- y acusados de terrorismo no han conseguido asesoría legal efectiva.<br />
Entrevistado por este blog, Vásquez explica que pese a las pruebas (fotos) y debido a presiones -de la policía o del Gobierno- no se ha identificado a los responsables de las torturas. &#8220;La DINOES, por ejemplo, no ha dado información de los efectivos pese a que ha sido solicitada&#8221;, acotó.<br />
Debido a los golpes y encierro sufridos hace tres años, le era difícil encontrarse con un policía &#8220;y mirarlo a la cara&#8221;. Sin embargo, el periodista dice, &#8220;sí creo en la justicia del país y que hay personas honestas y justas para luchar contra los obstáculos y contra la corrupción&#8221;.</p>
<p>El agraviado, quien espera retomar sus estudios en la Universidad de Piura, indica que el proceso en la Quinta Fiscalía sólo ha avanzado un 1% desde que se inició en julio del año pasado.<br />
&#8220;No se pide venganza, tienen que identificar a malos policías porque no pueden seguir caminando por las calles, así los ciudadanos no estamos a buen recaudo. Yo sí creo en las Fuerzas Armadas y la Policía, no me ha quedado discordia ni temor, pero creemos que lo más correcto es ponerse en el punto medio, sin exageraciones: un grupo de periodistas debe ser sancionado&#8221;, agrega.</p>
<p>El periodista está además preocupado porque debido al juicio que enfrenta -al igual que otras 150 personas- por terrorismo, invasión a la propiedad privada y otros seis cargos, tiene orden de comparecencia restringida y debía firmar un cuaderno estando en Piura. Dadas las amenazas que recibió en su celular, se vio en la necesidad de salir de su región y protegerse. De acuerdo a la orientación que ha recibido, él debería ser testigo y agraviado en dicho proceso judicial, y no un denunciado.<br />
En febrero de 2005 Vásquez se desempeñaba como corresponsal en Ayabaca de Radio Cutivalú y, por ello, cubrió las manifestaciones de dirigentes y campesinos contra los proyectos de la minera Majaz, posteriormente denominada Monterrico Metals. El periodista y un grupo numeroso de dirigentes y campesinos, dos mujeres y un niño, fueron detenidos y torturados por policías y empleados de Forza en un campamento de la minera. El dirigente Melanio García fue asesinado.<br />
Las fotos que demuestran el encierro, torturas y asesinato le fueron enviadas al periodista piurano -por una fuente no identificada- a inicios de enero de este año y el diario La República las publicó.<br />
Julio Vásquez expresa su preocupación debido a que el trabajo de asesoría legal de la Pastoral de Chulucanas no ha sido suficiente para los 150 denunciados.<br />
&#8220;Tienen varios otros proyectos, son honestos, pero creo que ha habido cierto descuido del caso. Yo me he podido agenciar de otra ayuda. Además, los comuneros están en el campo, no llegan a la ciudad para las diligencias porque tienen que realizar sus actividades agrícolas, pero aparte está el clima: Ayabaca está incomunicada debido a las lluvias&#8221;.<br />
Otro aspecto referido a esta situación de violencia es que el Centro de Asesoría Psicológica y Social (CAPS) ha brindado una terapia grupal para los campesinos y dirigentes torturados, pero pocas personas han participado debido a que dicha actividad se realiza en la capital del departamento.<br />
Julio expresa que en los últimos tres meses se siente más recuperado luego de todo lo que le pasó.<br />
&#8220;Sabemos que el juez enfrenta presiones, pero por ejemplo Andrew Bristow hasta ahora no ha sido llamado a declarar&#8221;, precisó Vargas. Bristow se desempeñaba como gerente/jefe de operaciones de la minera cuando ocurrieron los hechos y aún es funcionario de Monterrico Metals. Durante el secuestro en el campamento, Vásquez escuchó órdenes de dicho funcionario.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Kahkashan is the soundtrack of a TV series by the same name. It aired on Doordarshan in the early Nineties. I dont remember watching it, however the Ghazals by Jagjit Singh are really sublime and immediately grow on you.</p>
<p>The poetry of Hasrat Mohai, Firaq Gorakhpuri, Jigar Moradabadi, Majaz Lakhnavi &#38; others are a window to the beauty &#38; depth of classic Urdu Ghazals.</p>
<p>I rate this as Jagjit&#8217;s second best effort (the Best being Mirza Ghalib &#8211; which i will post soon).</p>

But it is absolutely incredible to know that he wrote most of these Ghazals while serving a one year rigorous imprisonment sentence. He along with his political Guru &#8211; Bal Gangadhar Tilak were the two freedom fighters persecuted by the British. Hasrat had to do backbreaking labor during the entire day and this is the period when he wrote his greatest Love poems. He has also penned &#8220;Chupke Chupke Raat Din&#8221; &#8211; the signature Ghazal of Ghulam Ali. </em></span><br />
