The episode was being filmed today, and the set lists, and some character plot information is now online.

New Directions will be singing…

• “The Edge of Glory” – Lady Gaga
• “It’s All Coming Back To Me Now” – Celine Dion
• “Paradise by the Dashboard Light” – Meatloaf

All of New Directions will be involved. Including some noticeably absent characters like Rory and Sugar.

Vocal Adrenaline will be singing…

• “Starships” – Nicki Minaj
• “Pinball Wizards” – The Who

Alex Newell (Wade/Unique) will be returning to lead the Vocal Adrenaline and will be dressing as a woman once again.

Also- Quinn will be back on her feet.

The judges at nationals are Perez Hilton, Rex Lee and Lindsay Lohan. Perez and Rex were filmed during the awards ceremony, but Lindsay was noticeably absent. As of publishing time, they’re only halfway through their shooting day, so Lindsay may be shooting her scenes later.

- Glee 3×20 and 3×21 “Props”/(Second Episode Title TBA) – As the countdown to graduation continues, the kids of New Directions prepare a high-concept routine for Nationals. When Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz) bumps her head, the world of New Directions is turned upside down in her eyes. Then, the New Directions perform at Nationals for celebrity judge Lindsay Lohan (guest-starring as herself), in a special two-hour episode.

- Glee 3×22 (Title TBA) – In the Season Three finale, graduation is finally here, as McKinley High’s class of 2012 looks to the past and present, while contemplating the future.

A month or so ago Marvel announced a new title “Spider-Men” helmed by Brian Michael Bendis.  Until this week, it was a mystery who the two Spider-Men would be.  Marvel’s confirmed it will be the original Marvel universe Peter Parker Spider-Man and Ultimate Marvel universe Miles Morales Spider-Man.  If how exactly this will work sounds confusing, it’s probably because it is.  But this is what to expect in the world of comics.

Here are some new details for episode 3×16.

When Will worries some of his students are lacking a clear direction for their futures, he tries to inspire them through the music of Saturday Night Fever. While some of the students use the lesson to get a clearer idea of what they want from their lives, it inspires others to take an extra step towards helping their loved ones achieve their dreams. Meanwhile, Sue’s arch-nemesis Roz Washington returns with an eye to wrest away control of the Cheerios, and a student from a rival show choir seeks advice from Kurt and Mercedes.

SPOILERS- E! Online has released some new Glee News (Finally!). There will be a new character in Glee.

The New Character will be in their mid-40s, and will be on Glee very soon.

We’ll meet a new character who might turn out to have an impact on someone…we’re just not sure who will be affected. This new character is in his 40s, and his life is in shambles. He dropped out of high school, left his wife and hasn’t paid child support in a real long time. Word on the street is he might stick around on Glee…any ideas who might be involved with him?

That’s all we know so far. We will update you with more on this character once more news comes in. What do you think this character will be like? Could it be Sue’s baby’s Father? Leave your thoughts in the comments.

Soon….. very soon it will all come together.  About a month ago, my primary gaming group and I started up a weekly gaming session which we conduct on Sunday mornings.  About two weeks ago we agreed to start a rotational format for the group with three of us running individual games every four weeks, with the off-week being dedicated to board/card/any-other-type-of-game gaming as well.  Almost immediately coming to this agreement, the idea to start a podcast was born.

Now, I’m extremely behind the curve when it comes to podcasts.  Until recently, I had never really listened to, let alone followed, a regular podcast.  Mostly, this has been due to time constraints, as I have been keeping pretty busy over the last year or so and haven’t allowed myself much time to just sit and open my ears.  However, in the best interest of our upcoming venture (and adventures!) I have started listening to the Major Spoilers Critical Hit podcast and find it to be extremely enjoyable.

Last week, we gathered together and did a set-up test to figure out logistical aspects of the upcoming recording sessions.  After a few hours of changing microphone locations, adjusting levels and of course some gaming, we felt we had our set-up pretty much locked in.

The planned podcast format will be such – The Monkey in the Cage Podcast will be our primary production.  On this podcast, we plan on discussing any and all topics related to gaming and general geekdom.  More than likely I will personally draw on material I’ve already discussed on this blog, and will more than likely present follow-ups to my takes of the discussions here.  We plan on establishing a website for the podcast as well, but that process is still in the works.

In addition to the weekly Monkey in the Cage, we will also be recording our gaming sessions for the three separate campaigns.  Depending on the amount of usable material produced from each gaming session, these will likely be edited down to one hour or so chunks and published throughout the week.  The three campaigns are:

• Shadow Ridge – Run by Karen, our original DM, this game will follow a group of four monster hunters based out of the fictional town of Shadow Ridge, California.  It has the feel of Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Supernatural and is based on the World of Darkness rule set.  Most likely, these sessions will have more of a radio-drama feel as the storytelling and roleplaying aspects of gaming have always been the primary focus of Karen’s sessions.  We have already been as these characters for a while, so we should be able to jump right in and start the new chapter of the story.
• Society of Odin – This is the game I run.  It’s been in the works for a long time and I’m excited to finally get it up off the ground.  Set in the Victorian era of an alternate history world, the characters are agents of the British Crown tasked with defending the Empire from all threats – political, physical and supernatural.  This is a homebrew campaign utilizing open gaming license d20 rule-sets and pulling from just about everything I can get my hands on.  I’m utilizing the Obsidian Portal website to keep track of everything and the campaign can be followed here – http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/the_society_of_odin.
• Neverwinter 4E campaign – Robert will be running this classic D&D 4E campaign set in the Forgotten Realms campaign setting and will be starting the game in the city of Neverwinter.

SO!  Tomorrow, we will be conducting a trial podcast, which may or may not get published for listening.  However, in the very near future, we will absolutely be putting out a completed product and the road in internet fame will begin (so we hope)!

- Ash Ketchum has earned 32 gym badges.  He has travelled from region to region catching and training pokémon, and yet he is still a pretty terrible trainer.  Now, the show continues to emphasize the lesson of loving your friends (trapped animals) and they can beat anything.  So, he thinks a Cyndaquil can somehow beat a Golem (for example)?  What the hell?

- Are there any local pizza places that serve vegan pizza?  Is pizza vegan if you just take off the cheese and throw on some vegetables?

- My mouth looks a little wider because I got some zits from shaving making my corner-mouth sore.

- Good god, I hope I don’t have to use the cash register again when I volunteer at The Grand Cinema.  I did alright last Friday, but I just got so flustered and confused.  Then again, when it’s only me and someone else working Thursday night, I may have to do it.  Along with popcorn duties.  Which is alright, but I still don’t know how to use the popcorn machine.

- It’s been one thing after another for my body sucking lately.  Yesterday, my headache was so bad that I was dizzy and nauseas.  I’ve also gotten an ear ache three times in the last week.  And my wisdom teeth are suddenly extremely sensitive to heat.  I think I have a brain tumor.

- I have a memory that gives me the shivers really bad.  Almost as bad as when I think about getting a papercut on the underside of my penis.  That scary.

- I’ve been watching too many television shows lately.  I need to get back into reading considering the multitude of books in my collection that remain unread.  Unfortunately, reading makes me pretty sleepy especially when I’m not feeling well.

- Please don’t smoke in the house, dumbass.  And buy an air freshener because it smells disgusting downstairs.

- I’m tempted to write about how much I hate incense, but I know that a decent amount of people like it (including my collaborators).

- MajorSpoilers is a cool website, but their comic reviews really suck because they’re basically synopsis without any real critique in them (aside from deeply embedded).

- I need to call Aaron, it’s been too long.

- Excited for Troy and Nicole to come up and visit.  I’ve been saving up my free movie passes at The Grand for when they come.

- I have made way too many labels today.

In the past, I listened to The Rick Emerson Show,  this was a radio show that has been broadcast locally in Portland, Oregon, off and on since 1997 on various radio stations. Even though it was a daily terestrial radio show I wasn’t always able to listen live so I started downloading the podcasts. Spending a year in Iraq strongly influenced this as well, as I couldn’t listen live.

I have 33 gigs of this show. From 13 March 2006 until  23 October 2009. That’s 3 hours a day (later 4 hours)(then once Alpha bought the station down to 1 1/2 hour to 2 hours)  of talk radio 5 days a week. I even have some from before March 13th from when the show was on A different station. I listened to this show at home. In the car and even while in Iraq but once again The Rick Emerson show is off the air.

If you have read this site before you will know about the Rick Emerson Show But I’m going to list some of the others I currently listen to…I won’t go into complete detail on any one. I’ll leave that for future posts.

So being use to listening to Four hours of podcasts daily I needed to fill the void. I’ve Added Funemployent Radio to my collection of podcasts and I listen Almost daily to it. The hosts of Funemployment Radio are Greg Nibler and Sarah X Dylan, former talents at the Rick Emerson Show who decided to go into podcasting instead of returning to terrestrial radio. It’s kinda a spin off of the Rick Emerson Show and has a pretty big following.

I’ve also added Cort and Fatboy to my daily listening. This show was also Recorded in the past from their local Radio show but They too were canned in the recent purchase of local stations by Alpha Broadcasting. Since then they have joined PDX FM And continue the show on the internet. I think the best description is the one on PDX.fm
“Cort and Fatboy are a pair of Portland, Oregon ex-radio DJs who previously worked for KUFO-FM before the station went through a reformat. They have continued doing their show in a one-hour podcast format which is available on their website. ” I will say that like the Canceled Rick Emerson Show and Funemployment radio, Cort and Fatboy is also filled with Pop Culture and Geekcentric topics.

Weekly podcasts I really can’t do without are The Geek in the City podcast and like the name implies is geek oriented. With Film reviews, comics, zombies(30,000 I-tune Downloads a month). Also Ham Fisted Radio another pop culture podcast on PDX.FM

The thing with all the above podcasts is that they are local to me. (meaning Portland Oregon) And that they all have guests on the show. A lot of them over lap and crossover. Guests that appear on one usually appear on the others. It’s a pretty tight group of podcasters. I’m not gonna go into why this has happened or the history of why these folks are so tight nit but just that they talk about things I’m interested in.

I do listen to other things outside the local sphere. Such as Kevin Smith’s ….SmodCast.

My most recent find is Critical Hit. A spin off from Major Spoilers a sight dealing with comics and geek culture. Critical hit is a DnD Campaign dealing with 4th edition, A new player who use to play WoW, three other players in their 30′s who have played since around high school and their GM, Who’s been playing the same amount of time.

So needless to say some days I have only 2 hours to listen to while others I have 3 to 6. Luckily the weekly podcasts don’t always come out on the same day, but like I said I’ll go into further detail on these podcasts in future posts.

Now if you will excuse me I have to go see if there are any new episodes up on my weeklies.

This is a Nintendo related podcast that covers all the latest news, reviews and speculation around Nintendo, the Wii and the DS.  Very good, can be a little fan boyish at times and they don’t seem to want to deal with the fact that hardcore games on the Wii are all but dead but for half an hour a week it is a great way of keeping up with the latest news.

Taverncast – http://www.taverncast.com

This was a WoW podcast when it started for hardcore gamers, however then all the hosts stopped playing.  They have kept the cast going however and it has now turned into a general podcast where they talk about a particular topic that they want to talk about.  They also drink throughout the podcast and they explain what they are drinking at the beginning of the show and although they don’t get drunk they do have a good time.  The only drawback is that their output can be really few and far between.

My second favourite podcast and due to the fact that it is weekly (sometimes twice a week) it is the one I listen to the most.  This is the ultimate show for comic book fans.  They review some of the latest issues, they go into detail on a trade paperback and they have polls of the week.  They are called major spoilers for a reason though, so if you don’t like to hear any of the surprises that might await you in your comic books you should read them first, they don’t spoil everything  but they do spoil enough.

Dr Mark Kermode and Simon Mayo host a film review programme that has won the BBC lots more awards.  Mark Kermode brings his massive knowledge of films (horror in particular), his wit and a small amount of snobbery to review films.  They will review the latest releases, they have listener input and games.  Highly enjoyable.

The second podcast I listen to from CNET the same people who do Buzz Out Loud.  The Real Deal covers one topic that is linked to technology in some way, some of these include Chrome Vs Firefox, Phone Communications, Domain Names and audience questions.  Hosted by Tom Merritt from Buzz Out Loud and Rafe Needleman, these guys know what they are talking about.

The second geekiest podcast I listen to, yes this is all about Star Trek and Sci-Fi.  The host covers an episode of star trek or a film franchise of some sort, plays clips from the shows, or can play the whole show.  Also goes through latest news, reviews and generally things that are going on in nerd world.  Warning only for people that are truly into Star Trek otherwise this will be far to geeky for you.

The oldest of the podcasts, this show has being going on for ages.  This show is very rough around the edges and it hasn’t improved in technically quality even though it has been going to 5 years now, but that is its charm.  The hosts of which there are 3/4 review games, talk films and reminisce about their childhood (this is the best part).  It needs to be heard to be believed, you need to give it 2 or 3 shows and if you don’t like it by then you probably never will, but I have never laughed so hard at a show.

This podcast takes segments of their show that airs in America and puts them into podcast form.  This includes 2 – 3 minute reviews of the latest games that are coming out.  They also have excellent coverage of E3 and other conferences, great for gamers.
