Today I’m going to talk about the Revlon Colourburst Lip Butter. I have the shade Berry Smoothie. It’s a great, go-to deep pink. They’re about $11 at Shopper’s and worth every penny. The colour is semi-opaque, and just really pretty. The formula is nice. It glides on smooth, doesn’t highlight any flakes or cracks, and the texture is rich and creamy. It’s nice and moisturizing.

The bad news is that mine has almost run out. The good news? Well, now I can buy a new one! Any colour suggestions?

Verdict? Give these a go, you won’t be sorry.

I couldn’t bear the thought of having to leave the house showing my nail fail of last night, so I decided to change them just now. I’ve a party to attend tonight, so anything looking less than good is a complete no-no!

Luckily inspiration was found quickly. I finally bought a pair of Onitsuka Tiger sneakers in their classic yellow and black colours – this combination of theirs was initially made famous in the 1970′s by Bruce Lee, and made a major comeback in the 2000′s when Quentin Tarantino dressed Uma Thurman up as Bruce Lee for the Kill Bill series.

I’d wanted them for years, but even during the 3 years I worked for the company I always literally forgot to get them when they were part of a collection. Until yesterday. Glad I finally did it.

Anyways, I always found this colour combo really cool and edgy, and because I had pretty much the right tools and paints lying around, I went straight to work.

First, 2 or 3 coats of Catrice ‘Ernie and Birdy’. This polish does not go on pretty for the 1st and sometimes 2nd coat, but patience my dears, the end result is pretty good. And I love the name they gave to the polish

Then, for 3 fingers I took 3 square black studs (I got mine from Claire’s but any online nail store should have something similar), and placed them on 3 nails per hand while the yellow polish was just slightly wet. I prefer this to all 5 as it could become a little over the top. And to stay true to the sneaker inspiration, the yellow must really stand out as the main colour.

Should placing the studs take so long that the polish on your other nails become too dry? No worries, just paint a light stripe of top coat on the nail and you can continue!

Once done, you can choose to add another layer of top coat to seal it all in, or let it be more rugged without. These studs are a little more prone to falling off without sealing, but if you’re only planning to wear it for a day you’ll be fine.

Overall, this is a very simple and nail dummy proof design! Off to town now in my new kicks

It’s been a rough week or so. Having very little sleep and copious amounts of stress retail therapy was very much in need. So I had a look at some of the MAC lipsticks I’ve wanted to get for a while. Now I looked on the site but as ever didn’t trust the colours on the site. Simply because lipsticks look different on different people. So here are some swatches and ting to show you what they look like on my skin tone.

So today’s post is a new thing I thought I’d give a go, I’ll be comparing two seemingly identical products from different companies and giving you my overall thoughts, and potential winner!! *ding ding*

To start, I though that hair oils would be a great place. They’ve boomed in the past year or so in popularity after the absolute breakthrough of the Moroccan Oil brand onto the market. Now personally I’ve never tried that oil in particular, mainly for its $50 price tag, yikes! I go through oil like it’s water, with hair as long as mine, its hard to keep the ends from being super dry and splitting. Both brands I’ve tried my hair absolutely loves. Maybe one day I’ll shell out for the more expensive stuff, but for how quick I go through it, I could see it being a costly investment.

The first oil I tried was the Pure Oil of Marrakesh oil treatment for all hair types. It is sulphate, paraben and alcohol free and allergy free fragrance, and the brand does not test on animals. The bottle contains 50 ml (1.7 fl oz) and I believe cost me around $15 on sale at Price Attack.

The product itself is quite a thick oil, almost leaning a little bit gel-like, it is also fairly orange in colour. Fragrance wise the scent isn’t over powering, it’s considerably earthy-almost like incense to my nose. Once placed in the ends of my hair I couldn’t smell it during my daily routine, but if I was to curl up at night and have it up near my nose I could detect the faintest lingering of the scent. The thickness of the product was a downside for me, I found that it was kind of hard to smooth through the lengths of my hair, and if too much oil was applied it would stick in one place and take a while to absorb. As for the restoration and smoothness of my hair, I think it did a wonderful job, my hair definitely felt softer and more silky, as well as less likely to get tangled, when I used this product compared to when I didn’t.

The only thing for me is the price. Full price this product retails for $25.95, and as I like to use oils daily on my hair, not just for ‘healing’ purposes but also for reducing frizz and fly-aways, the bottle doesn’t last very long. Plus I found it difficult to dispense product efficiently from the wide opening, always getting wayyyy to much. The bottle too, is made from glass, some people might find this to give the product a more ‘luxury’ feel, but for me it just means that I’m constantly worried about dropping it on the tiles on the bathroom floor, and that its really difficult to get the last little bit of product out of the bottom.

The second oil that I’m now using is the Organix Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Penetrating Treatment. It is sulphate and paraben free and not tested on animals. It retails for $24.99 for 100ml (3.3 fl oz). Essentially double the product compared to the Pure oil for the same cost.

In comparison to the pure oil, this one is a lot thinner in texture. It has the typical look and feel of and oil, and has the colour of liquid amber. The products has one of those typical hair care smells, quite clean but kind of sweet, and is a noticeable smell, although, it does not bother me in the slightest, if you’re hyper sensitive to scents than you might want to give this one a quick sniff in the store, as you will smell it on your hand and hair after applying. This oil spreads beautifully through the hair and gives a gorgeous shiny finish without being sticky. You can over do it, like with all oils, but I find the problem much easier to rectify with this one with some dry shampoo. I use this before I plait my hair at night and snuggle up in bed, giving it plenty of time over night to soak in. Its wonderful as well to use as a frizz treatment during the day, and has made my hair feel and look a lot healthier that it really is (I’m in desperate need of a cut but keep putting it off!)

I don’t find the price too hefty either, as you do get a fair amount of product for what you pay for. I’ve had it for at least a month now and have still only used about a quarter of the bottle. Also the packaging is made of plastic with a small hole in the top to dispense the product, I prefer this packaging as it is much easier to get the right amount of product without the guesswork.

FINAL THOUGHTS

For me the Organix Moroccan Argan Oil is a winner, the product itself is a nicer formula, in my opinion as well as the packaging and price win me over. This isn’t the be all and end all for me though! I will keep experimenting with other oils to find one that steals my heart. For now, this one does a pretty darn good job.

Lately, I have tried to take better care of my hair. I cut it last fall, I totally and regret it (like I always do). I switched to boar bristle brushes, bought strengthening shampoo, and use heat protectant religiously.

My new favorite product is a three-in-one Birchbox exclusive called Beauty Protector.

It conditions, protects and detangles hair, even long, easily snarled hair like mine. It is lightweight and smells nice, too! It is a tad pricey, but if you are serious about protecting your hair it’s a worthy investment. An added bonus: it is free of paradens and sulfates.

I picked this up at Ulta yesterday evening.  I have been obsessing slightly about getting my brows as perfect as they can be.  I still looove my Hourglass pencil (you can read about my post here)  but wanted something more softer and darker (but not black) to shade them in…so here we are.  Meet my new baby, the Urban Decay Brow Box in Brown Sugar.  The box consists of tweezers, and angled brush, 2 brow colors and wax. $29.

It’s been a lovely sunny very long Easter weekend here in Corfu. I’ve been in full party mode and definitely indulged a little too much on the delicious home made wine and lamb on the spit, amongst lots of other lovely food and drinks. I went out for a coffee up at Akrotiri which if you follow my instagram (gillianleerose) you will see it’s an absolutely stunning cliff top cafe and I basically live up there. It has 360 degree views of beautiful scenery and it’s right behind my parents house which is perfect!

This post is a little different to my usual outfit post, it’s more about confidence and body image today. I definitely need to get back on the bikini body diet, being on the beach everyday is all the encouragement I need to get into shape. I end up putting a quite bit of weight on when I am back in England as I make the most of my favourite take aways and of course enjoy a big feast at Christmas time. So as soon as I get back to Greece it’s time to be healthy so I’m not too terrified of putting a bikini on and hitting the beach. I will get back on my bicycle and keep you all posted on my progress over the summer.

Talking of being terrified of showing my bare body I am also very shy about having photographs when I am not wearing make-up. I’ve had fairly bad skin since I was a teenager and so make-up is a bit like my comfort blanket. I don’t mind going out without make up on but that is usually when I know I won’t see a lot of people I know. It may sound a bit vain but it’s more of a confidence thing with me.

The blog has given me a lot of confidence since I started it, from my fashion choices to my writing but I wanted to take it one step further and use it to help give me more confidence in general. For me to do this I need to push myself to do things I normally wouldn’t and eventually it will help me to feel comfortable in myself.

That is the main reason behind this post, it’s not particularly for the fashion today as it is a very simple and basic outfit that I put on just to go for a coffee with friends but it’s more to help me in myself feel OK to be make-up free and share it with the rest of the blogosphere. I’m hoping after a few make-up free posts every now and again I will feel confident enough to go out into the real world and feel comfortable and happy in my own skin.

I like the brightness of the pink on the jeans, it’s not neon but it’s bold next to the white stripes, a perfect summery colour for the weather here in Corfu. I lovedenim shirts as they are so easy to wear whether they are fitted, cropped, sleeveless or like I have here a mens size small for that nice baggy fit. You can put them on over almost anything instead of having to wear a bulkier coat or jacket. I do tend to wear them quite a lot more so when I am wearing coloured jeans or disco pants. I am not a massive fan of the double denim trend. I have worn it before but I like it better when it is contrasting denims rather than having the same shade of denim on denim.

Ray bans are my ultimate sunglasses of choice. They are my favourite brand by far. I love how many different styles they do and how even the classic original styles are still so loved by people of all ages. Such as the Wayfarers like I have here or the Aviators which have been around for so many years but you still see them on celebs and people everywhere and they are still very much ‘in fashion’.

My dad has a pair of Wayfarers from around 20 years ago and after trying to ‘borrow’ (long term borrow that is) them for ages and failing I ended up buying myself a pair about 7 years ago, I still love them just as much and I can’t go without them now. I have a few different styles and colours now. I also bought a pair of Aviators around 7 years ago and I have the Clubmasters which I got around 3 years ago. This is another great thing about Ray Bans, they can last you a lifetime. If you are like me and look after your sunglasses, keep them in their cases and don’t put them on your head they really can stay in perfect condition for years.

Anyway the bit I have been worrying about, I am going to be brave and below is the no make-up outfit post!

Femeile isi fac griji cu privire la cantitate, astfel incat sa nu arate ca un clovn sau sa nu arate prea palide. Iata cativa pasi simpli pentru ca blush-ul sa dea un aspect frumos si sanatos fetei voastre:

1. Mai intai alegeti culoarea de blush potrivita fetei si machiajului de moment. Un truc ar fi sa-l asortati fie cu fardul de ochi, fie cu rujul aplicat pe buze.

2. Acum, ca ati ales culoarea, ar fi bine sa alegeti si formula potrivita pentru tipul vostru de ten. Pulberea este de obicei cea mai indicata pentru tenul gras si mixt (zona T grasa). Blush-ul crema este foarte bun pentru pielea uscata.

3. Dupa realizarea machiajului ochilor si aplicarea pudrei, aplicati si blush-ul. Folositi o pensula speciala care vine odata cu produsul sau achizitionati o pensula mare, eventual kabooki.

4. Puneti fard de obraz pe pensula si scuturati-o inainte de a-l aplica pentru a indeparta excesul de pulbere.

5. Aplicati blush-ul pe pometi. Schitati un zambet pentru a defini exact zona vizata.

6. Pentru a estompa cat mai natural fardul de obraz folositi pudra translucida.

7. Ati terminat!

Here you can see all the things I generally keep in my purse, except my passport. I usually keep it tucked away in a safe place in my room but I went to the states a couple times with the family I nanny for so it was still in my purse when the pictures were taken.

I have my make-up bag, the big one with the pink flowers. I think it is such a cute little bag, one of my sister gave it to me for Christmas this year and I fell in love with it. I keep all my regular make-up in there, I am not as big of a make-up fanatic as Nicole, so all the make-up I own fits in that bag, but it works for me. I am planning to write a post on my regular make up routine in the near future so I won’t show you guys what is in it just yet.

My wallet is the brown pouch with the long handle, I picked this up at H&M at the same time as my purse and I also have plans to replace this soon, but as with the purse I am shopping around to find the perfect wallet. It holds all my cards, cash and sometimes keys and change. It’s cute and I like it a lot but it doesn’t keep my cards very organized and that often gets me a little frustrated while at the check out.

Head phones, never go anywhere without those, as you probably can tell those are the older apple headphones I got them with my iPhone. Technically my iPhone should also be in this picture but I had it beside me when the pictures where taken, but you get the idea. I also like to keep a phone charger for the wall and the car in my purse in case my phone runs low on batteries. I have had a couple experiences where my phone died on me and I never ever want that to happen again!

This little purse keeps all my little things organized and easy to get at. These are the worst possible things I could lose! I always keep chapstick on me because my lips always get super dry without it and it is the most uncomfortable feeling! I have the generic chapstick brand, a Mary Kay silky lip salve, and a rosebud salve that I absolutely LOVE! I always keep nail clippers in my bag because I use to chew my nails and if I chip a nail, I have to fix it or I will start up my bad habit again! And then of course you can never have too many bobby pins and hair elastics incase of an emergency!

Deodorant. Okay seriously, it is the worst when you get stuck somewhere unexpectedly with smelly pits and no deodorant! So I always have an extra deodorant in my purse just in case. This is my favourite dove deodorant, cucumber and green tea scent, it is fresh, clean and lovely.

I always keep some spearmint gum in my bag and dark chocolate in case I get a craving!

Am tot vrut de ceva timp sa scriu despre noile lisptain-uri de la L’Oreal – Colour Riche Caresse Shine Stain, dar din diverse motive nu am reusit, pana acum.

De cand am auzit ca le-au adus si la noi, mi-am dorit foarte mult sa le incerc si sa imi cumpar macar unul dintre ele deoarece citisem pe mai multe bloguri straine ca sunt foarte asemanatoare cu cele de la YSL Glossy Stains pe care nu ma indur sa dau banii.

Nici pe acesta care il am nu m-am incumetat sa mi-l cumpar, iar o persoana foarte draga care imi citeste cu placere blogul s-a gandit sa imi faca o surpriza si sa mi-l ofere cadou. Inca o data iti multumesc, draga mea!

Pretul acestor lipstain-uri se invarte undeva in jurul a 50-60 de ron, depinde de unde le cumparati. Recomand din Auchan, unde mi se pare ca sunt 46 de ron.

Nuanta pe care o am, dupa cum v-ati dat deja seama din titlu, este Juliet. Un rosu placut, cu o usoara tenta de portocaliu pe buze. Culoarea este tare draguta si purtabila.

Ambalajul este si el dragut, seamana cu o mica bijuterie. Iar in mijloc se poate vedea si nuanta rujului.

Lip stain-ul are o textura placuta, la inceput usor cremoasa, iar apoi apoasa, dar mie imi place cum se simte  pe buze, poate un pic lipicios, dar nu deranjant si este si destul de rezistent. Are un miros dulceag, foarte dragut si ofera o stralucire proaspata si sanatoasa buzelor.

Toate bune si frumoase, pana aici. Ce ma cam deranjeaza pe mine este felul in care se aplica pe buzele mele. Nu pare uniform si formeaza dungile acelea inestetice. Si pentru a avea un rezultat cat de cat satisfacator trebuie sa aplic in jur de 4-5 straturi.

Dar mai bine va arat poza cu buzele ca se vedeti ce si cum:

Eu recomand sa le incercati inainte de a vi le cumpara deoarece cred ca depinde foarte mult de buzele fiecareia.

Si daca deja le-ati incercat cum vi s-au parut? Eu sunt tentata acum si de alte nuante.

Va pup si va mai astept!

Hoje vou falar sobre alguns truques para segurar o batom por mais tempo e deixar ele com uma cor mais fiel ao que você compra.

1. Primeiro você pode passar uma camada de pó facial e até mesmo a base antes de mais nada.
2. Depois eu faço o contorno dos lábios, pode ser com uma cor boca ou alguma cor que fique bem legal com o batom que vai usar e que não fique uma diferença de cor muito marcada. No dia a dia o idela é usar cor de boca mesmo.
3. Agora preencha o meio dos lábios com o mesmo lápis de boca que usou para o contorno.
4. Espalhe o batom diretamente em seus lábios  ou com auxilio do pícel, como você preferir.
5. Tire o excesso com um lenço ou pedaço de papel.

Se preferir, passe uma camada de pós compacto sobre os lábios e repasse o batom, retirando o excesso com o papel na sequência. Assim, ele também fica mais forte e fixo.

Outra dica é quando você usar Gloss labial é passar só no meio da boca tanto na parte superior como inferior, isso dará um efeito de boca volumosa. São dicas bem fáceis que vai ajudar você fixar melhor e ajudar na durabilidade do mesmo.

Esses passos são excelentes com batons mais fraquinhos que não ficam quase nada na boca.

1. Incepeti prin a va curata ochii si hidratata zona din jurul acestora. Incercati sa obtineti cel putin șapte ore de somn pe noapte pentru a evita cearcanele, care fac ochii sa para mai mici, mai ridati si mai obositi.

2. Aplicati un fard de ochi de culoare deschisa (cum ar fi bej) pe pleoapa superioara pentru a uniformiza culoarea pielii.

3. Aplicati creion de ochi alb sau bej pe semiconjunctiva pentru a crea iluzia de ochi mai mari si larg deshisi.

4. Aplicati acelasi creion sau fard alb sau auriu in coltul intern al ochiului. Acesta este pasul cheie care ajuta intr-adevar pentru a crea iluzia de ochi mai mari.

5. Puteti folosi gene false in loc de simpla mascara pentru un look mai dramatic.

Cam acestea ar fi micile trucuri pentru marirea ochilor prin machiaj. In continuare, realizati ce machiaj preferati urmand pasii specifici.

Soooooo the husband’s out of town, I’m home alone eating a microwave meal, thinking of what to do…oh what the heck, let’s just practice some different nail art techniques!

I couldn’t decide what to do, so I first chose 2 base colours: Catrice ‘Bloody Mary to Go’, a nice deep red, and Catrice ‘Papa don’t Peach’ – indeed, a bright peach colour.

On my thumb I tried something I found through a make up brand tutorial: I first painted a coat of light yellow, then the peach, and last but not least the red, let it dry well and then used a thin nail art brush dipped in acetone nail polish remover to create a sun. You’ll want to dip it lightly every time to avoid spilling on your nail. Once happy with the sun shape, I put a top coat on.

My index finger next. I took a nail art pen in black, drew on messy ‘C’ shapes, and placed little dots of the peach polish to create a funky leopard print.

My middle finger was done by putting on a layer of top coat, adding some large bits of glitter (you can buy it in little pots through nail art stores online or arts and craft stores) and sealing it in with another layer of top coat.

My ring finger became a taped design, using 2 strips of nail striping tape on very dry nails, painting in the peach and then removing the tape. You have the least chance of smudging when you remove the tape from the bottom up, but if you do smudge, you can still fix it using a nail art brush to remove excess paint, and then carefully adding some red to cover up.

Last but not least my pinkie, here I chose for some simple stars and flower glitter in white and light red, and sealed it in again with top coat.
