O Look Do Dia de hoje foi escolhido pela Toddynho! Estamos num clima muito teen stars hoje e decidimos fazer um post sobre a Nicole Anderson que faz o papel da Macy em Jonas (sortuda!).

Este clique dela aconteceu faz um tempinho, no último dia 16, mas achei muito válido para comentar aqui, até porque para as Moças mais novinhas (não que as mais…maduras – oh tristeza! rsrs – não possam encarar um look desses) usam muito essas atrizes como inspiração. O visual dela foi bastante jovem, muito de acordo com a idade dela (19). Eu adoro as produções dela como um todo, sempre muito fashion e ótimas para ela e, por isso, ela merece o meu respeito (isso claro, e o fato dela estar sempre perto dos Jonas Brothers! Há!).

Acho que o mais legal do make dela é a sombra prata que ela passou no canto interno do olho para iluminar. Ela é bastante bronzeada e, num primeiro momento, essa ideia pode ficar um pouco demais, muito exagerado. Eu aconselharia passar um tom mais puxado para o cobre ou o bronze. No entanto, como ela passou bem pouquinho, ficou ótimo e bastante discreto

Outra coisa que ela apostou bastante para o visual foi o delineado preto. Tanto na marca d’água, na parte inferior dos olhos, quanto na mesma linha na parte superior e rente ao cílios na mesma região, o preto abriu os olhos e destacou o verde deles. Lindo!

Como eu comentei da sombra ali em cima, o blush que a Nicole usou é um tom mais escuro e neutro, um cobre bem colocado na maçã do rosto que deu um ar discreto de saúde. Nada exagerado.

Mas eu acho que o que eu mais gostei mesmo foi o batom dela. Um again cobre, mais matte, mas ainda assim com um brilinhos dourados discreto. Deu unifomidade no make e realçou os olhos e o tom de pele dela. Aprovado.

O que acharam, Moças?

In Genesis 1 and 2, everything was created and it was all considered good.  There’s nothing in the creation story that says that it became bad.  There was a relationship in the creation story (chap 3) that ends in emnity between God and man, but there wasn’t anything in the story that says that creation has become bad.  Tell me if I’m wrong, but it is still good.  Your experience of creation is good.  The whole earth is filled with his glory.  The rocks cry out in worship.  The heavens declare the glory of God.

You have been created to create, and you need to do so with the goodness of all that is created.  Hang out in the goodness of creation.

SERVES  8    PREPARATION TIME: 30 minutes + cooling    COOKING TIME: 1 hr 10 mins

Easy to prepare

INGREDIENTS

425 mls / 15 fl oz  (approx 2 US cups)  double (heavy) cream

1 small onion or shallot, finely chopped

2 thyme sprigs, one stripped of leaves

butter, for greasing

500g / 1 lb 2 oz parsnips (about 4 large)

500g / 1 lb 2 oz butternut squash (about 1/2 a large one)

25g / 1 oz Gruyere cheese, grated

Method

Place the cream, onion or shallot and the thyme sprig in a small pan.  Slowly heat to just below boiling point, then remove from the heat and allow to cool.  Strain, discarding the onion and thyme.

Heat oven to 160C  / 325F  / Gas 4  /  (Fan oven 140C  /275F).  Rub the bottom and sides of a gratin dish measuring about 20 x 30 cm (8 x 12 in) with butter.  Peel the parsnips and trim the ends.  Peel and scoop the seeds out of the squash.  Thinly slice the vegetables.

Layer the parsnip and squash in the dish, pour over the infused cream, then scatter with the thyme leaves and Gruyere cheese.  Bake for 1 hour until golden and a fork slides easily into the veg.

Get Ahead:  Leave the bake to cool, then cover and place in the fridge for up to 2 days.  To reheat, place in a 220C  / 425F  / gas 7  (fan 200C / 400F) oven for 15 minutes.  If the top starts to brown more than you’d like, cover with foil.

Coventry University is soon to be launching the new “Make It Happen” scheme to help graduates become business owners. The University is teaming up with FlyingStart to provide specialist advice and funding over the course of the first 12 months of a student starting up their own business.

This initiative has been concocted in an attempt to counteract unemployment amongst university graduates, which has been steadily rising in recent years. According to the Higher Education Statistics Agency, rates of graduates being unemployed have risen by a third this year and the situation is steadily growing worse.

Dragon’s Den Star Imran Hakin commented earlier in the year that: “I wish there were initiatives like The Flying Start – Make it Happen programme available when I first started off” An open day allowing students to register is scheduled to be held in Coventry University’s George Elliot Building between 1pm-4pm on December 2nd.

This is a major opportunity for you to explore the possibility and then get the support, guidance and funding” says Dr Marks Evans, Associate Dean of Coventry University, with high hopes that the scheme will prove to be a success, adding some much needed stability to the higher education system, which so many potential students have lost faith in.

A confession.

Sometimes I use Bing.com.

Stop looking at me that way. I said I “use” Bing.com. I didn’t say I enjoy it! In fact, I “use” Bing.com when I’m shopping online and want to get the best price. Bing has a pretty cool shopping engine and I can get up to 10% cashback with its cashback program.

See? I use Bing.com.

The problem is, that use does not result in me using the search engine for any other task. And that is the issue I see with rumors that Bing is willing to pay News Corp and other news organizations to provide their content exclusively to the Microsoft search engine. The FT reports:

Microsoft has had discussions with News Corp over a plan that would involve the media company being paid to “de-index” its news websites from Google, setting the scene for a search engine battle that could offer a ray of light to the newspaper industry.

OK, so let’s say this deal comes together–which I really doubt–but let’s say it does. What will happen? I, and many others, will know that in order to read an article on the Wall Street Journal, we have to go to Bing.com and not Google. We conduct our search, read the article, then decide to keep Bing as our default search engine…go right back to using Google!

While Bing does need to get some exclusives like this, I just don’t see them being enough to fully switch the masses away from Google. If I know that my favorite bread is only available at Trader Joe’s, I’ll occasionally buy my bread there. The rest of the grocery shopping will be done at Harris Teeter…technically by my wife, but you get the idea.

Jeg har fått en ny “foto-hobby”, nemlig å fotografere ringene til ringmerkede fugler, lese dem av og rapportere dem til Stavanger Museum som har oversikten over ringmerkede fugler i Norge. Det er slett ikke så vanskelig. I hvert fall ikke når det er en viss størrelse på ringen slik som på måker, ender, gjess og svaner.

En stund etter at ringnummeret er rapportert, får jeg informasjon tilbake om hvor fuglen er merket og eventuelt om den har vært kontrollert tidligere.

Denne gråmåke ungfuglen la jeg spesielt merke til fordi den tydeligvis hadde litt vondt i vingen sin. Det var heldigvis ikke så ille at den ikke kunne fly, men som dere ser henger vingen litt ned. Da den gikk opp på land så jeg at den var ringmerket og at den til og med hadde to ringer, en farget og en “vanlig” blank.

Disse ringene måtte jeg selvsagt forsøke å lese av. Den fargede var så stor at man nesten kunne lese av bokstav og tall med det blotte øye. Like enkelt er det ikke med metallringen. Med litt finfokusering går det imidlertid greit det også.

En stund etter at nummeret/numrene ble rapportert fikk jeg informasjon tilbake om denne fuglen.

Den ble ringmerket 6 juli 2009 på Østre Klovholmen ved Mandal. Nøyaktig en måned senere ble den kontrollert på Brennevinsmyra, også ved Mandal. Tre dager senere ble den observert igjen på samme sted. Så dukker den altså opp ved Østensjøvannet hvor jeg leser av ringen den 30 september 2009.

Ungfuglen har riktignok fløyet et godt stykke, men ingen ting imot andre fugler som er kontrollert flere hundre kilometer fra der de ble ringmerket.

Jeg har foreløpig også fått tilbakemelding på en grågås hann som tydeligvis har Østensjøvannet som sitt faste tilholdssted. Den ble nemlig ringmerket der som voksen den 14 oktober 2006. Dermed vet jeg at den i hvert fall er 5 år gammel eller mer. Fram til 9 oktober i år, da jeg leste av ringen, har den ikke vært kontrollert. Hvorvidt den trekker til og fra vannet vet jeg derfor ikke, men vær viss på at jeg skal se etter den gjennom vinteren.

É tão bacana!

Ok, so it was a little less than 8 minutes. But, she tried her best with the time she has even if her wardrobe is really boring. A malfunction would have shaken things up. But, she crammed some hits along with the new single “Make Me,” which sounds lackluster in between all the greats. How sad is it that Jermaine Jackson doesn’t even know the lyrics to one of his sisters biggest hits “Together Again.” She rocked it, but she could’ve rocked it better.

Essa é a nova queridinha das makeup addicts de plantão. A marca inglesa vende produtos de beleza que já foram super aprovados pela expert no assunto Vic Ceridono. A moça comprou seus produtos na última viagem que fez a Europa e está amando, veja aqui.

Os batons têm preços (relativamente) altos, mas são de ótima qualidade, dizem as meninas que já experimentaram, e lindos. Cada um sai por £14 no site da marca, que entrega no Brasil.

Além disso, é possível comprar também outros produtos como pincéis de maquiagem, cílios postiços (daqueles bem drag mesmo!), esmaltes, kits de sombra…

Para quem tem medo de arriscar a compra em libras, o site da Asos (que também é inglês) vende alguns produtos da marca. A variedade é muito menor, mas o preço pode ser convertido para dólares instantaneamente é só clicar em “change currency” e clicar na bandeirinha americana.  Um batom, por exemplo, sai por $23.

A Three Straps é um daqueles modelos rejeitados por sua esquisitisse. Enquanto sua irmã mais alta Three Straps Elevated é um sucesso total… ela fica encalhada nas lojas. Apesar de ser rejei-tadinha sempre acreditei que ela poderia ficar bonita nos pés.

Há um bom tempo atrás, essa Three Straps da coleção Love Pirates veio morar comigo, desde então vivemos felizes, mas eu não tive tempo de mostrar aqui.

Então, para quem tem vontade de uma Three Straps e não sabe como combinar, aqui vai a primeira dica: fica linda com vestidos. Supercombina com a tendência de sandálias mais pesadas que estão sendo usadas na nova estação e tem um ar bailarina-moderna que eu amo.

MINI-RESENHA:

Os prós – A Three Straps é MUITO confortável! Como tem um pequeno salto, não dá aquela dorzinha (bazaca…oi!) nas pernas e coluna quando eu fico muito tempo em pé. O plástico da coleção Love Pirates é mais macio, o que torna a 3S um modelo ótimo para usar o dia todo. Com certeza está entre os modelos mais confortáveis que já provei.

Os contras - Como o modelo é muito fechado, no calor básico de Porto Alegre (40 graus) o pé suou bastante e ficou murchinho (tadiiiinho rsrs). Além disso, não é um modelo fácil de calçar, pois leva um tempão pra fechar todas essas fivelas (que são o charme dela!). Também não é um modelo muito simples de combinar, mas já testei com bermuda, shorts, saias, vestidos e até calças. Então, se você quer ter uma, fique de olho que postarei as ideias aqui.

The H1N1 Swine Flu virus knows no borders,has no boundaries, and has absolutely no respect for religious or cultural traditions.

This year at the annual Hajj to Mecca,  Four foreign pilgrims have died of swine flu, the Saudi Health Ministry announced on Saturday.

The Saudi Arabia Health Ministry  said none of the four foreign victims had been vaccinated against the H1N1 virus, as has been recommended by The Health Ministry.

An official statement released by the ministry said all had underlying health problems, including cancer and respiratory illness, AFP news agency reported.

Three of the victims died in Medina and one in Mecca.

The BBC is reporting that….up to three million Muslims from around the world take part in the holy pilgrimage every year, but health officials have expressed fears that it could provide a breeding ground for the virus.

Authorities had tried to prepare for any outbreaks by installing thermal cameras at airports and sea terminals, deploying 15,000 additional health workers and ensuring hundreds of extra beds were available.

The Hajj (Arabic: حج‎ Ḥaǧǧ) is a pilgrimage to Mecca. It is currently the largest annual pilgrimage in the world,^[1] and is the fifth pillar of Islam, a moral obligation that must be carried out at least once in their lifetime by every able-bodied Muslim who can afford to do so. The Hajj is a demonstration of the solidarity of the Muslim people, and their submission to Allah (God).^[2] The pilgrimage occurs from the 7th to 13th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the 12th month of the Islamic calendar. The Health Minister has reported that there are 16 other people that have been diagnosed with swine flu and four remain in hospital in “critical condition”.

He added 12 others had recovered following treatment.

The Saudi government has recommended the elderly, pregnant women, people with chronic diseases and children skip the Hajj this year.

The Saudi government has said all pilgrims need a certificate of vaccination before they can apply for a visa.

This is real people, and this disease is spreading worldwide,at a rapid pace.

I encourage everyone to get a H1N1 swine flu shot as soon as you can.The reports of any side effects are exaggerated, and will cause millions of people to perish from the lack of the vaccine.

Any paranoia surrounding any alledged complications from the shot are totally unsubstantiated, and if those people out there insist on not receiving the vaccine, then we as a society should only expect more mounting mass casualties from the swine flu, as exhibited this weekend, unfortunately in Mecca.

If it can happen in Mecca, it can happen anywhere.

Please everyone, wash your hands, and go get the shot.
