The Senseo Coffee Machine by Phillips is a way to have a fast and fresh cup of coffee first thing in

The Senseo Coffee Machine by Phillips is a way to have a fast and fresh cup of coffee first thing in the morning. This unique machine uses individual pods to create an ideal cup of joe on demand, rather than traditional machines that use a coffee pot or carafe. The main benefit is that you make each cup fresh instead of brewing a whole pot, and are spared drinking coffee that has been sitting in a coffee pot for hours. And those who like to drink coffee during the day can enjoy a fresh cup anytime, whether it is 6 in the morning, lunchtime, or the mid afternoon energy slump. Also, Senseo machines produce a superb layer of foam on the top, which lends the coffee the features of a fresh coffeehouse coffee in the ease of your house.

The Senseo machine could seem like a more expensive alternative than the standard drip coffee maker, but its price is comparable or less than many of the newer coffee makers built to brew one cup at a time or coffee makers engineered to avoid burnt coffee taste. At about 60 bucks, the Senseo is an affordable alternative choice to the Keurig home brewing system, and the Senseo pods are also more economically priced. In general, you can get about 16 more pods for the same price as standard K-cups. Amazon’s subscribe and save program also lets you’ve got the convenience of home delivery at a discount, so your coffee ships directly to your house. If the cost of pods is a deterrent, or you have a favorite mix of coffee, you can purchase a refillable coffee filter which will work with any ground coffee.

Overall, this machine is user friendly and well worth the cost. You are able to select the strength and size of your coffee with relative ease and do not have to fret about figuring out the right number of scoops to brew an ideal drink. The machine includes both the one- and two-pod sized holders, and there are two clearly marked buttons to choose from when making your drink. You can make a regular cup with one pod when you choose the one cup option, or a more robust cup by trying two pods on the one cup setting. Or if you’d prefer a more mild drink, you may use one pod on the two cup setting. The machine is also straightforward to maintain and compact, making this machine one worth recommending to any coffee lover.

Over the last year i have used the Tassimo Coffee maker solely to fulfill all of my caffeine desires

Over the last year i have used the Tassimo Coffee maker solely to fulfill all of my caffeine desires. My first time using the Tassimo hot beverage system was when I visited home and found my parents had lately bought the original Braun Tassimo coffee maker system. I at first had a difficult time believing my folks praises of the system, not thinking that the flavor of the coffee would be even reasonably good, but I quickly found out after my first sip of the Gevalia Tassimo flavour t disk, that not only was I wrong, but this coffee was essentially actually good. The Tassimo Coffee maker hot drink system is ahead of it’s time with its ability to quickly brew single serve cups of coffee that are of high quality. It’s never been so simple to brew a cup of coffee as it is now. Also with the more recent version Bosch Tassimo coffee maker being available the system is even better than before .

Let me break down some of the wonderful features that make the Tassimo coffee maker so great.

1. Tiny swish design. Can be stored away simply or kept on your counter once and for all.

2. Brews coffee quietly and quickly

3. Many kinds of hot beverages in the form of T disks. These include many sorts of coffee like Gevalia, Nabob and Suchard. Also there’s delicious Tassimo hot chocolate, cappuccino, espresso and tea.

4. Though perhaps not at cafe quality, the coffee is all superb.

In the interest of being totally fair here are some drawbacks to the Tassimo coffee maker system.

1. The system is costlier brand new then a standard coffee brewing system.

2. The cost per cup of coffee is higher then when compared to brewing a large pot of coffee, but cheaper then purchasing coffee at a cafe or convenience store.

3. Though there’s a nice selection there still is a limited amount of coffee flavour variety when compared to buying standard ground coffee beans at the corner store or going to a cafeteria.

4. The T Disks often can’t be acquired at your local food shop story, though they are so easy to order online.

My classic day starts with me making a cup of Tassimo coffee first thing in the morning before I am getting going for the day. Then I will make another cup inside my travel mug that I will take to work with me. Lastly, I’m a little bit of an espresso addict, so on innumerable occasions I will make a pleasant quick cup of Tassimo espresso when I am getting home from work. This gives me the energy boost I want to play with the children and exercise after a tedious day. Before buying the Tassimo coffee maker I would typically just buy a mug of coffee at the local convenience story when I headed out to work, because my other half doesn’t drink coffee, and I did not feel a bit like making and cleaning a pot purely for 1 or 2 cups of coffee. It’s much easier now for me to enjoy coffee without the extra trouble that comes with cleaning pots and filters.

to conclude, if you are like myself and enjoy/need coffee I would strongly suggest purchasing the Tassimo Coffee maker hot libation system. It’s reasonable, simple to operate, simple to scrub, and gives a good range of very good coffee and other hot drinks. I’m a busy person and I’m taking great enjoyment when I get a new product that makes my life easier, and Tassimo definitely does that for me.

exhibit design and development for museums and other educational
mediums. Our guest speaker is a rising star in the exhibit design
world and a past co-organizer of makephilly, art buggy derby and a
host of other creative endeavors in the area. Welcome back Dana!

:: GUEST SPEAKER ::
Dana Schloss is a curious and enthusiastic museum nerd. She has been
an exhibit fabricator, prototyper, museum educator, and exhibit
designer in many museums in Philadelphia and around the country. She’s
currently playing and prototyping on the New Science Centre Project
2011 at the Telus World of Science in Calgary. She will share her work

:: MAKER CHALLENGE ::
During the second half of this and every meeting we break into teams
and build something to meet the objective of the ‘maker challenge’.
For this meeting we’re going to design and build a “Maker’s Museum” –
a suite of museum style mini exhibits in just 45 minutes. Teams will
select a topic in the theme of “How Things Work” and build an exhibit
that teaches how something works through interaction and visuals but
without using any words. Teams will keep their topics secret from
other teams during construction. At the close of the meeting,
everyone will get the chance to tour the museum exhibits and guess
what each exhibit is about.

I’m loving the mild sci-fi-dystopian-cyberpunk thing this game has going on aesthetically, I just hope that the storyline is taken seriously and the game isn’t just a continual string of “missions” that seem more like unrelated scenarios.
The recently published list of the Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations, as derived by Innovest,

The recently published list of the Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations, as derived by Innovest, is based on a comprehensive analysis of organisations on four factors; Strategic Governance, Human Capital, Environment and Stakeholder (Not Shareholder) Capital. The Forbes article has been quick to point out that three most admired organisations as of today, Google, Apple and Microsoft, have not featured on the risk because of reasons very particular to them. The way I see it, the factor that stands true for all three of them is that they were all Entrepreneurial ventures to begin with, with clear cut leaders and focus areas. The fact that none of the entrepreneurs behind these three will survive a 100 years, at least two won’t even last another 25 years, is a very important factor. The one attribute common, as per my understanding, to the organisations that do feature on the list is that a majority of them don’t have clear cut leaders on which are the face of the organisation, as is the case with both Apple and Microsoft, are not there. They don’t actually have a face of the organisation, but the organisation itself is a brand in itself, whether through its products/services, logos or size. This is possibly why the authors of the article have stuck to companies without a person representative of their brand. I personally could not think of one person whom I could relate to any of these corporations, which is probably why they are actually sustainable since the responsibility of the organisations representation lays with the organisation itself, and not just with the Entrepreneur himself.

Michelin, the world’s second largest tyre maker, is an Entrepreneurial venture started by André and Edouard Michelin in 1888 to address a gap in the market. It was started when a cyclist with a busted pneumatic tyre approached the brothers, who ran a rubber factory at the time, to fix it. Upon their analysis of the tyre and the fact that it was glued to the rim of the bicycle, they identified a gap in the market in the form of a ‘removable pneumatic tyre’ which didn’t need to be glued to the rim to function properly and could be replaced faster than the conventional pneumatic tyres which took a couple of hours to dry. The brothers filed a patent for the same in 1891.Thereon, the organisation has made a large number of innovations, from improving the design of the pneumatic tyre to the Radial tyre in 1941 to the ActiveWheel system which has motors built into the wheel, and is to be launched in 2012. Michelin is the creator of, arguably the most recognized trademarks in the world, The Michelin Man or Bibendum, which was introduced in 1898 and represents Michelin in over 150 countries. Bibendum is essentially a man made out of numerous stacks of tyres and is used by the organisation in various promotional related activities across the world, and is shown doing a variety of activities in Michelins advertisements.

Innovation then runs in the blood of Michelin. This, for me, is the most prominent feature of an entrepreneurial venture as it is the factor that distinguishes the entrepreneur from the businessman. An Entrepreneur innovates existing products/services and creates one that is more functional or utilitarian, which is exactly what the Michelin brothers established. With tweaks in the design of the pneumatic tyre, they managed to have it grab the rim of the wheel without actually gluing the tyre which essentially allowed the repairing of tyres to become a much quicker and easier job. This transformed the entire industry to develop into what we know it as now. Had this innovation not been thought of, we’d be carrying glue in the back of our vehicles along with the spare tyre. To prove the usability of their version of the pneumatic tyre, the brothers actually scattered nails on the road during a cycle race and depicted to the people there the superiority of their tyre over the conventional tyres. The organisation then went on to focusing on developing tyres for Cars and eventually partnered with Citroën to develop the Radial type tyre.

Michelin, as an organisation, has grown exponentially in the past, especially with the grown in the global auto sector post-world war 2, which was followed by two decades worth of stagnancy, and then growth again beginning the late 1980’s, during which Michelin picked up OEM, or Original Equipment Manufacturer, contracts with General Motors, Volkswagen and Volvo to name a few. The evolution of Michelin as a company was stupendously fast during the first five decades of its existence, mostly because the tyre market was still maturing, along with the auto industry. Off late, especially in the last three decades, Michelins growth has primarily been focussed on motorsports, primarily Le Mans and A1 GP. The primary reason for this focus, as Michelin puts it, is to help develop better tyres for street cars and motorbikes alike. This has proved to be of some substance with Michelin coming up with continual augmentations being made to tyres already being produced. With a decade of research and few tweaks, Michelin has managed to improve its Energy Saver tyres, which reduce fuel consumption by 0.2 litres per 100 Kilometres, and consequently reduce CO2 emissions by up to 4 grams per kilometre. Another innovation which the company is working on is the ‘Tweel’. The Tweel is a replacement for the very invention that took Michelin from Zero to Hero, the Radial tyre. The Tweel is made out of rubber and doesn’t need any air; instead the spokes of the wheel twist and bend as opposed to staying fixed solid. This not only allows for a more comfortable ride as the surface area of the tyre and the wheel are incorporated, but also allows for more flexibility and of course, punctures will be history once this tyre is put into use. These are just few of the many innovations Michelin is working on, which is why it features on the Forbes 100 list of companies that will survive a 100 years. Another reason why Michelin features on the Forbes 100 list is probably that they’re not afraid to admit failure and pull out of a non-profitable or unviable business. They did so with both Formula 1 and MotoGP because they understood that their products weren’t competent enough to go head to head with the master of all circuit racing tyres, Bridgestone. They do, however, still supply tyres to A1 GP and a host of other races where they know they have the cost advantage. This also is conceivably Michelins Achilles heel. Simply because they could not match the functional superiority of Bridgestone, they packed their bags and bid adieu as opposed to developing their product to meet the rigorous requirements of the pinnacle motorsport divisions.

Michelins success, at least the way I see it, can be attributed to innovation, and by innovation, I refer specifically to those which were required by the market. The fact that Michelin have been able to sustain their spot in the global tyre market, even when competitors with differentiated, and sometimes superior, products have come in to snatch away segments of the market, is a symbol of their unwavering spirit to succeed, which has primarily been done through a deep, clear understanding of market trends and providing what actually mattered, as opposed to anything out of the sandbox. Whether it’s the Energy Saver Tyres, or the Tweel or the ActiveWheel, they are all innovations which have purely been derived out of the need of the market, and not as an attempt to display technological or operational superiority. Michelin, hence, can, and will, survive over a hundred years, because they don’t just change the rules of the game, they change the entire game.

iPhone maker Apple Inc. has become the world’s most profitable cellphone maker, a prominent tech consultancy suggests.

Backed by strong sales of the iPhone, shown above, Apple Inc. has surpassed Nokia as the world’s most profitable cellphone maker, tech consultancy Strategy Analytics suggests.(Associated Press)

“With strong volumes, high wholesale prices and tight cost controls, the [computer] vendor has successfully broken into the mobile phone market in just two years,” Strategy Analytics analyst Alex Spektor said.

The Cupertino, Calif.-based company raked in $1.6 billion US in profits out of iPhone sales during the third quarter of 2009, Spektor’s analysis suggests. That bested the $1.1 billion in profits he found Swedish telecom giant Nokia earned during the same period.

Although profitability of the iPhone units remains a closely guarded secret in Apple’s quarterly results, the consultancy has tracked profitability among cellphone sellers since 2007, and the third quarter was the first time Nokia was supplanted at the top of the list, Spektor said.

“It really comes down to the product mix,” he said in an interview. “Nokia phones average about $90, globally, while Apple averages about $600 globally.”

“So for every phone Apple sells, Nokia has to sell six or seven,” just to keep up in revenue ? never mind profits, Spektor said.

The per-unit revenue the companies earn does not necessarily correspond to the retail price consumers pay for the phones.

Nokia slipped into second place as margins have been hit hard by both the economic downturn and a stagnant presence in the United States, Spektor said.

It remains the dominant phone maker in much of the developing world, where profit margins are much slimmer. Media reports estimate that Apple’s Chinese partner, China Unicom, has only sold 5,000 iPhone units since the device was unveiled in China.

“The vast majority in China will be looking for imitation products because of the price point, so if you have something that looks like [the iPhone and] offers comparable features, you’re going to do well,” Spektor said.

But a rebound in the key U.S. market is key to Nokia’s long-term strategy, the consultancy says.

“A successful fight on Apple?s high-profit home turf can simultaneously help to revitalize Nokia?s margins and to put a check on Apple?s surging growth,” Strategy Analytics director Neil Mawston said.

Apple has leapt to the top of the profitability list among phone sellers despite the fact that the computer-maker only entered the cellphone market roughly two years ago with the release of the first iPhone in June of 2007.

Worldwide, Nokia sold 108.5 million wireless devices in the third quarter of 2009, down 8 per cent from last year’s level.

In the same period, Apple Inc. sold 7.4 million iPhones worldwide, company data reveals, a seven per cent increase over the same period last year.

I need to add more stat tracking variables because people seem to love that shit, (I know I do).

NB: The sprites used in the pictures below are used to indicate to me which sprite is being shown when, hence the labels and direction arrows. This is just so I can make sure the right sprites are being shown so that when I get the real character sprites I can just plug them into the engine and it’ll all run smooth.

Having spent one year living at 3600m in Namche Bazaar in the Mount Everest region of Nepal, it was with some glee I read the news in October about the Great Himalayan Trail (GHT) and the new routes mapped out by Australian explorer Robin Boustead.

This new trail stretches from Arunchal Pradesh in India in the east over to Pakistan in the west. My intention is to take a small expedition through part of the trail from Ganesh Himal through to the Kanchenjunga Himal in the far east of Nepal.

During some five years based in Nepal, I have studied any information connected with the Yeti and a side-purpose of this expedition would be to make a documentary on the elusive Snowman.

Aside from this, the expedition would film many parts of the new GHT and the people, animals, ecology and mountains along the way. In total, the trip would produce several documentary films, thousands of HD stock footage clips and thousands of stock photos.

As the expedition is purposely kept small, just a few porters, translators and myself, the cost of this production are quite low, around £10,000.

I am open to offers from donors, including media organisations and can offer exclusivity on the films and/or photos and stories from the trip.

If you have any questions about the expedition and are interested in helping to fund it, then please try to contact me by email – jonstmchl@gmail.com

In addition to producing magazine photo feature packages, I have now established a film production company called Lightroom Productions.

At the moment I am filming in 720i HD @ 30fps and producing HD stock footage shots for Clipcanvas and AlwaysHD. These short films are scenes from daily life in Nepal, it’s famous temples and mountains, diverse wildlife and reportage shots from news events (such as the still featured here from recent footage of the 1st November 2009 torch rally in Kathmandu).

These clips are offered to both editorial and commercial clients and I hope to add many more new shots of HD stock footage from my travels in Nepal over the coming months.

At the moment, most of my HD video is uploaded to Clipcanvas.com for speedy distribution to the market. From this site, you can download the clips in a variety of formats to suit your editing needs.

Alright, here’s the third and final crepe recipe (for now…). This one might be my favor

Alright, here’s the third and final crepe recipe (for now…). This one might be my favorite. There’s a few more ingredients than the other recipes, but it’s still very simple, and the directions are still the same. I give you…Spicy Dessert Crepes!

Ingredients:

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 1/3 cups milk

2 eggs

2 tablespoons brown sugar

2 tablespoons cooking oil

1 tablespoon light molasses

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground ginger

1/8 ground nutmeg

Directions:

In bowl combine flour, milk, eggs, sugar, oil, and salt. Beat with electric mixer until blended. Heat a lightly greased 6-inch skillet. Remove from heat. Spoon in 2 tablespoons batter; lift and tilt skillet to spread batter. Return to heat, brown on one side. Invert pan over paper toweling; remove crepe. Repeat until all the batter is used. Makes 16-18 crepes. Fill with whatever you want.

Now, if all this talk of crepes has made you want to try making them yourself, I would recommend this crepe maker here. It’s way easier than trying to make them the same way you make pancakes (crepes are very delicate, remember), and this set up is quick and simple to use. It took me all of about 5 minutes to get it today (although there is a bit of a trick to getting the crepes off the pan – you’ll get the hang of it pretty fast).
