I’ve been chatting with Skye recently about our life lessons, and how, as we

I’ve been chatting with Skye recently about our life lessons, and how, as we’ve seen lately in the cards, we need to remember what to ask for. And what to be grateful for as well, in addition to keeping in mind how we are phrasing our intentions and affirmations on a more positive level. I struggle with my own issues, as I have constantly over-shared here. The back and forth of needing to make a living balanced against wanting to do things my own way (and in my own time frame), are personal tasks I have to wrangle around with all the damn time.

You know how I have my own deck that I draw from on Sundays (the cards that were my sister’s), and how I’ve shown a few of those here. Well here’s the one I got earlier in the week. (And believe me when I say I was NOT pleased to see it.)

“Learning Experience ~ Guardian Angel.

This situation is an opportuinty for you to learn some important life lessons…”

You don’t need the entire description, it just gets worse after that. Now, I am never going to turn away from the appearance of a helpful angel in my life, but seriously?! Like I don’t already have enough shit to deal with?! I’ve been trying to decide if the “life lesson” in this case is the damn pillows, or the crappy way I messed up that cross stitch, or the on-going business/job crises. Because really, it could be ANY of those! None of which I want to hear are more freaking lessons! I just want them fixed. Like, last month.

Here is the other side of my mental coin. I get shitty cards that tell me to “buck up you whiney baby” but then I also receive the most beautiful treasures imaginable, some that just appear so lovingly on my doorstep. Which just makes me confused (although it also makes me alternately, joyous and then thankful, yes it’s very chaotic in my smooth brain some days).

How damn gorgeous is that bracelet?! And how amazingly well does it go with the tattoos on that arm?! VERY, that’s the answer to both questions.

Please ignore the gnarled old lady hands, I have no idea how they got in there. Just look at the craftsmanship, the talent, the artistry, the overwhelmingly stunning awesomeness of that piece of jewelry. Jen made it. Would you like one? Click on her name, she has more. You should shop there and buy one for yourselves, or purchase something from her as a gift. They will brighten your day, I promise. This one sure made me happy.

Which brings us to my main point tonight. This is life. This is how we all feel all the damn time. The back and forth, the up and down. And it’s the way we are supposed to feel. It is the actual balance we need to witness and experience fully. We see the horrid lessons, we try to work with them. We get all pissy and grumble. We flounder in the frustration. But then, when we are feeling down, something genuinely blissful and pleasant comes our way. Joy just shows up, bursts through the door. Then, as if by magic, we are healed in that moment of despair. Our mood is lifted and we see the proverbial pot of gold, or maybe just the rainbow. Either way, we have bounced back. We have been able to put our woes in perspective.

It’s the way this school of life makes us better people, the way it enriches our souls. I know it’s a stupid cliché, but truly, we are NOT given more than we can handle. Our charts are laid out before we get here, by us, and with the help of those we have chosen to assist us. We know how much we will be able to take, and we go for it. We toss in little treats to help us get past the rough patches. It’s those treats we need to focus on (and by we, obviously in this case I mean my own wee self elf here). This is where the gratitude comes in.

It can be something as simple as seeing the first bud of spring, or the sound of a child’s laughter and innocent delight. Or it can be huge and life altering (although generally it is something smaller). For me, this time, amongst all the turmoil, it was a pretty bracelet, arriving exactly when I needed it to. (Yes, I said “thank you” immediately. Several times and in a variety of ways.)

Our card du jour is kind of a validating stamp for us. I am going to show both sides, to continue this theme of balance, and as a reminder that we have to make sure and look at everything from all directions, just in case.

“The Web Weaver ~ sychronicity, Divine intelligence, cause and effect.

The Web Weaver rejoices that your creations are far-reaching and have positive effects on the many. Every action, every thought, every word and deed, is woven into the web of creation. When the Web Weaver appears as your Ally, she grants you the way to others of like mind and intentions and lets you know you are not alone in your endeavours.

Just when you need to make a connection, like magic, synchronicity occurs. Music reverberates through the web and plays in harmony with your own. This is a sign to trust in the connectivity between all events. Magic is afoot for us all.

If your query is about a relationship, the Web Weaver gives you assurance that meaningful coincidence comes through to give you reason to hope. Potential grows into reality with care and patience. Remember that the web reaches far and wide, and you are only capable of perceiving a small part of it. Trust and pay attention to the patterns you see play out in your life right now. All things will be revealed through the web.

Reversed: The Web Weaver warns you to address your behaviour in all areas. Where are you being dishonest with others and with yourself? Are you fearful that you will be left out in the cold and abandoned if you don’t relinquish control? Your strand in the web is beautiful and unique, and you don’t need to camouflage who you really are in order to manipulate results.

You are challenged to stand tall in all your perfect imperfections, see yourself truly, and allow the patterns of your life to be woven into the beauty meant for you and you alone. Keep in mind that if you do what you did, you will get what you got. The web remembers everything. Do something different this time and watch a miracle. This applies to all your questions in this moment…for everything is connected.”

I also want to make sure we notice that this card has a number four on it. Symbolically this is the most well balanced number, like a perfectly suited foundation, on which we can build anything. And, she mentioned “coincidence” but not as it is generally thought of, it feels as though she (Colette, the woman who designed this deck) doesn’t believe in that fictitious word any more than I do. (I also noticed, how she said “just like magic” and I wrote the same thing, before I read the guidebook. Don’t you love it when the radio plays the exact song we most need to hear? I’m going to be thankful for this too, just being able to tune in as clearly as we can.)
