Presented by me

Presentation :
Malcolm in the middle is an American comedy television series created by Linwood Boomer for the Fox Network. This comedy deals with a gifted child, Malcolm, who lives in a family of six (later seven with the baby Jamie, his brother). This series tells Malcolm’s story from his childhood at the end of his adolescence.

Characters :
Frankie Muniz as Malcolm
Justin Tyler Berfield as Reese
Erik Per Sullivan as Dewey
Christopher Kennedy Masterson as Francis
Jane Kaczmarek as Lois
Bryan Cranston as Hal

My opinion :
It is a cult series. I appreciate it so much that I have memorized all epiosodes of this series.
I like this series for numerous reasons :
First of all, the main characters are always funny in spite of their evolutions because the children become older. Moreover on the one hand the characters are really crazy and on the other hand they are all gifted in a domain. Malcolm is a genius for sciences and mathematics, Reese is gifted for the cooking, Dewey for the music… Finally, this series always creates at least three stories at the same time.
In this episode, I like the sequence where we watched the series of catastrophes at picnic’s Caroline.
My favourite character is Hal because he is the least responsible person of the family.
To conclude, Malcolm is a very good television series. It is the funniest television series that I know.

Malcolm in the middle – Már megint Malcolm

A sorozat, amiben mindenki őrült, kezdve a hisztérikus muterral, Loisszal, a balhés legidősebb tesán, Frencisen túl a zseni harmadik gyerekig, Malcolmig, aki a leghülyébb fivérével, Reese-zel együtt egzecírozza a legkisebb aranyos gyereket, Dewey-t, aki alapból lehet félresikerült.

Dr. House

Betydligt mindre omtalad är familjekomedin The Middle.

Dealing with Funny Business

Four years ago, television insiders were rocked by a fear that the half-hour comedy genre was on its final legs. The field that was once defined by “I Love Lucy,” “Three’s Company” and “Cheers” could not hold an audience. Take, for example, the case of NBC’s powerhouse block of “Must See TV” Thursday. This block defined sitcoms for the latter half of the ‘90s, thanks to hits such as “Friends,” “Seinfeld,” “Just Shoot Me,” “Frasier” and “Will and Grace.” Once “Friends” and “Seinfeld” ended in 2004 and “Will and Grace” signed off in 2006, however, multi-camera comedies – those taped in front of a studio audience – were suddenly endangered. CBS had launched the moderately successful “Two and a Half Men” in 2003; for the next six years, this would be one of only two multi-camera comedies to make it past three seasons.

With the demise of the multi-camera comedy, luckily, came the rise of the single-camera bracket. Single-camera comedies usually don’t use laugh tracks. The humor is portrayed more subtly and the cameramen have a longer creative rope to zoom in and out and experiment with angles. Popular examples of multi-camera comedies are “The Office,” “Arrested Development” and “Malcolm in the Middle.” While critics love this genre, the broader audience historically does not, hence the cancellation of “Arrested Development” despite its strong cult following. It used to be that networks needed more patience with multi-camera comedies. Whereas single-camera sitcoms either found audiences quickly or not at all, multi-cameras’ greatest strength was word of mouth, and this required time. This fall season, however, is changing all the rules.

2008 entry “The Big Bang Theory” regenerated America’s love of comedy, and this season ABC has miraculously managed to launch a successful two-hour comedy block. While The CW eliminated comedy from its primetime schedule altogether, it’s undoubtedly a strong field for the other networks. So, which honeys bring the funny and which has-beens are wearing thin?

“She doesn’t even know I exist.”

If you’ve never heard of a TV show, it’s understandable. But if Doc Sonya has barely heard about it, you know it’s bad.

Brothers
It’s a new comedy on Fox. Comes on during what TV insiders so fondly refer to as “the Friday night death slot.” The network obviously doesn’t want it to succeed, so why should you?

‘Til Death
This show is still on? Really??

Time to Break Up With…

Two and a Half Men
Why do I feel so revolted by “Two and a Half Men”? It’s not the fact that it’s a “dude” comedy that objectifies women; I actually couldn’t care less about that. My dislike probably stems from “Men’s” lack of comedic class – neither the crude jokes nor the scenes in bed nor the dialogue is refined. There’s a little something called taste, and “Men” leaves one in your mouth comparable to vinegar.Bottom Line: It’s sad that this is still one of the highest rated comedies in primetime.

Accidentally on Purpose
On par with “Two and a Half Men,” this tired concept should never have made it to the air in the first place. “Dharma & Greg”’s Jenna Elfman is wasted here as the “cougar” who gets knocked up by a twenty-something dude. Unfunny dialogue and stereotypical guy humor ensue (if the writers want to discover the proper execution of guy humor, they should watch “The Hangover”).Bottom Line: Bor-ing. Turn off the TV after “How I Met Your Mother” airs.

One-Night Stands:

Ultimately forgettable, but momentarily entertaining.

Ugly Betty
I loved “Ugly Betty” when it premiered as a bright, quirky comedy in 2006. Much like “Heroes,” however, “Betty” fell into a sophomore slump and has since reached only mediocrity. The show now lacks the charm and whimsy that made it so delightful during its first season.Bottom Line: While Daniel has no memorable storyline to speak of and Betty’s romantic entanglements are dull and repetitive, Wilhelmina, Marc and Amanda continue to bring the inspired comedy the show sought its first season. Dump the other characters and give these three their own show.

Gary Unmarrried
Another uninspired comedy on CBS’ schedule. While “Gary” is certainly more refined than “Men” and “Accidentally on Purpose,” it’s hardly a superior selection. It easily identifies with other marginally successful dad-centered comedies of past years: “The War at Home,” “According to Jim” and “Yes, Dear” come to mind.Bottom Line: Americans have proven that there is indeed an audience for these sub-par shows, and they thus continue to survive. Why not try something saucier, though?

Casual Dating:

“You’re pretty funny. Plus, you paid for dinner. I guess we can go out again.”

The Middle
“The Middle” centers on the Hecks, a middle-class family in Indiana. While Patricia Heaton is the star, funnyman Neil Flynn, who previously played the Janitor on “Scrubs,” is my reason for watching. I’d say “The Middle” could be appointment TV, but with so many satisfying comedies out there, a girl can only watch so much.Bottom Line: Reminiscent of “Malcolm in the Middle,” “The Middle” demonstrates how mixing kooky with funny plus a tinge of heartfelt emotion makes for an entertaining half-hour.

Cougar Town
I’m sure you’ve heard of this Courtney Cox show. Question is, is it any good? Answer: Eh… “Cougar Town” tries for the laughs a smidge too hard, and the slapstick bits don’t quite fit in with today’s comedy demands. However, there’s no denying Cox’s charm, and as son Travis, Dan Byrd’s downplayed comedic timing reminds me of Michael Cera’s spot-on underacting on “Arrested Development.”Bottom Line: Not a bad show, but not a standout, either.

The New Adventures of Old Christine
Julia Louis-Dreyfus of “Seinfeld” fame plays Christine, a divorced mom who runs a gym. Her sidekick is the hilarious Wanda Sykes. I’m going to be honest with you: I’ve never seen this show. It’s shameful, because there’s no real excuse for it. But I’m going to endorse it because everyone who’s ever seen this show loves it. Plus, it comes with a top recommendation from my brother, and I’m OK with trusting Doc Sunny on this one.Bottom Line: Whether I’ve seen it or not, this show has Wanda Sykes. Come on, people, watch it. She’s quite possibly one of the funniest comedians ever.

Long Term Dating:

Comedy depends so much on personal preference, so it’s hard to figure out which shows to hate on and which to brag about. But the following are keepers. Girl Scout’s honor.

How I Met Your Mother
This year has been a breakout year for “Mother” scene-stealer Neil Patrick Harris. The guy starred in Joss Whedon’s online saga “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog.” He finally hosted an episode of “Saturday Night Live,” as well as the Tony Awards and the Emmy Awards, and he garnered an Emmy nomination himself for his work on “mother.” Folks, Doogie Howser has grown up. But Harris, as legendary/awesome playboy Barney Stinson, is only one element that makes “How I Met Your Mother” so fantastic. The ensemble cast includes Alyson Hannigan (“Buffy”! “American Pie”!); Josh Radnor; Cobie Smulders; and Jason Segel, who you probably know as “that guy” from “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” “I Love You, Man,” and “Knocked Up.” Together, these five comedians bring us the multi-camera, next generation version of “Friends.” These friends live in NYC, hang out in MacLaren’s Bar (sorry, Central Perk), and make bold use of flashbacks to bring us one of the most subtly entertaining comedies we’ve seen in years.

Bottom Line: “It’s gonna be legen… wait for it… and I hope you’re not lactose intolerant, because the second half of that word is dairy!”-Barney, “How I Met Your Mother”

The Big Bang Theory
You’ve probably at some point (quietly) laughed at a nerd for something he or she said. “The Big Bang Theory” thankfully allows us to laugh at nerds loudly and proudly, thanks to a stock of sitcom characters who are nutty, naïve and endearingly neurotic. Good for a laugh are Raj Koothrappali, an Indian stereotype with a thick accent, bad dress sense and the inability to speak in front of women; Howard Wolowitz, a short Jewish man who dresses in bold colors and will do anything to be with a woman; and Leonard and Penny, the two characters we can most easily relate to.

Jim Parsons, however, steals the show as Sheldon Cooper, Leonard’s socially awkward physicist roommate who neurotically must eat at the same restaurant every night, depending on which day of the week it is, cannot discern sarcasm and always settles a dispute with a good round of Rock-Paper-Scissors-Lizard-Spock: “Scissors cuts paper, paper covers rock, rock crushes lizard, lizard poisons Spock, Spock smashes scissors, scissors decapitates lizard, lizard eats paper, paper disproves Spock, Spock vaporizes rock…

Bottom Line: …and as it always has, rock crushes scissors.”

Modern Family
ABC’s breakout comedy follows three families, related in some way or another, over the course of their daily activities. Sound dull? It could be, except “Modern Family” is the first show to successfully mix elements of multi-camera and single-camera comedies, so along with the blatantly hilarious lines, there’s a slew of dialogue so witty that one can’t help but laugh. My favorite part is Ty Burrell as Phil, whose over-the-top attempts at being the “cool” dad mock everything our generation is about. With possibly the most laugh-out-loud moments of any comedy on TV right now, you’re doing yourself a disservice by not watching.Bottom Line: “I’m a cool dad, that’s my thang. I’m hip, I surf the web, I text. LOL: laugh out loud, OMG: oh my god, WTF: why the face.” (cut to Phil doing the dance to “High School Musical’s” “We’re All in this Together.”)

Glee
I’m sure you’ve heard of “Glee” by now, what with its musical numbers ripping up the iTunes chart week after week. Combining America’s love for undiscovered talent with nutty plotlines and distinctive high school personalities, “Glee” is broadcast television’s scripted answer to reality TV. What I like best about “Glee” is that it’s not a show focused on singing. It’s a character-centered dramedy with musical numbers sprinkled in. While the story about Will’s wife Terri pretending to be pregnant is frustrating, Jane Lynch’s portrayal of maniacal cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester more than makes up for it.Bottom Line: “I’ll often yell at homeless people, ‘Hey, how’s that homelessness working out for you? Give not being homeless a try!’” -Sue, explaining that people should be motivated to better themselves.

Community / Parks & Recreation / The Office / 30 Rock
Like I said, NBC’s “Must See TV” Thursday was the place to be in the ‘90s, and its revamped “Comedy Night Done Right” is no different. Each of these multi-camera comedies not only defines but also glorifies the genre. There’s no need to expound on “The Office”; I’m sure every college student has seen it at least once (“that’s what she said!”).“30 Rock” isn’t as popular, but it really should be. Every character is a standout. My favorite is Alec Baldwin as Jack Donaghy, VP of East Coast Television for NBC (probably because I want his job one day). “30 Rock” never hesitates to mock NBC or television or politics or anything else for that matter. Not only is “30 Rock” bold, it is also smart, never insulting the audience or throwing jokes in our face. Much of the humor isn’t in the dialogue – it’s visual (just when Jack says “I need your guidance” and reaches for a picture of Jesus on his desk, he picks up the one behind Jesus… of Nixon.)

Parks & Recreation
When Amy Poehler vehicle “Parks & Rec” debuted last year, it was shaky at best: the scripts weren’t quite funny and the acting was too forced. This season, however, the show has found its legs. Sometime, when America quit watching, “Parks & Rec” got funny. Poehler’s grown into her role, and the standout cast of supporting players now receives the emphasis it deserves.

Community

“Community” is the 2009 entry into NBC’s Thursday night comedy line-up, and if its ratings hold (or grow!), it will round-out the comedy block perfectly for years to come. Like the other comedies, “Community”’s greatest strength is the ensemble cast, led by “The Soup”’s Joel McHale, as manipulative lawyer Jeff who’s back in community college because it was finally discovered that his degree came not from Columbia University, but Colombia, South America. This show is, I kid you not, hilarious. The best comedic pairing is undoubtedly Abed and Troy, and the executive producers have realized this: they now dedicate the final thirty seconds of each episode to an Abed-Troy gimmick, be it rapping in Spanish, taking over the school’s PA system or talking in a Batman growl.

Bottom Lines:
“How long have you known about the pregnancy? A week? A month? A year?” –Michael Scott, “The Office”

“I haven’t had this much trouble with a book since “Where’s Waldo” went to that barber pole factory.” -Tracy, “30 Rock”

“Whenever Leslie asks me for the Latin names of any of our plants, I just give her the names of rappers.” -Tom, “Parks & Recreation”

“Our first assignment is to make a documentary. They’re like movies, but with ugly people.” -Abed, “Community”

Jesus. As it stands its 2am, i have a class at 9am, on the fucking Sahara Desert, and i am just sat here blaspheming and listening to fucking Dido. Dido? I have no idea what my iTunes new obsession with her is all about… but i like it. Pfft, i dont really need to go tomorrow, I have been to the Sahara, its pretty i will give you that, not as hot as you would think but you cant have everything right? I must be the only person in history to go to Egypt and come back whiter then when i left. I wanted to be a modern-day Cleopatra, all tanned and powerful, minus the braids. No one looks good in braids. Well, my complete experience of the Sahara involved, I kid you not, being held at gun point for wanting to buy some crisps and being mugged in the middle of the desert by a small child, of a T-shirt. I experienced the real desert, there is nothing i can learn in a class room, I was there. I WAS THERE!!!

Also, between you and me, I shouldnt really be going back to uni anytime soon as, well, today i cried in geography. Like a mother fucking child. In my defence a baby got washed away in a massive mud slide. A BABY! Its mother was screaming. It was too much for me to take. Then a horse got washed away too. And you know that horrible look animals give you, when they are scared or they dont quite agree with something? Well, this horse was doing that, i could see it in its eyes, and it wasnt because he was thinking, “hmm, no. I dont really appreciate this. I’d rather not be washed away thank you very much.” No, this horse was fucking shit scared. It was fucking awful. This was a video we watched by the way. It was almost on parr with the god awful rape in Hans my Hedgehog.

THAT, is on the internet if you want to watch it. They cut out the rape of the princess by a man hedgehog, i think you will be glad to hear. He does however turn it to a bird in the TV version. God knows why. I’d like to say it was some sort of metaphor for his wrong doings in the book but that seems unlikely.

I went to Birmingham at weekend to visit my girlfriend. It was nice and i achieved something i can only be very proud of. If not proud, slightly ashamed. I got very drunk on the friday and on the saturday we went into Birmingham city and met up with Tor’s friend, Tash. We met her in the park. Now, i am sure it is common knowledge that i once vomited in this park, mostly because i was sat on a bench and the whole of Birmingham stood and watched as i vomited, wiped my mouth and then continued to eat my chips. HOWEVER, people, i have raised my standards. Lieessss i hear you say. This coming from the girl who once let my friend vomit all over me, who watched two of my friends run naked down a main road and then went on to spend the night sleeping in the centre of a bowling green, so i understand that you are wary as you cant get much more classy then that. This saturday however, sat in the park, surrounded by Zombies, i could feel myself going under. I knew that i would not vomit there and then (again), i refuse to be heckled by a few hundred emo’s dressed as Zombies. NO! So we went to a pub, and i vomited there. I missed the toilet but that is besides the point. This pub is the poshest place i have ever been, well, pub anyway. It used to be a theater. Oooo.. say it like Nicole Kidman: The Moulin Rough years and it sounds more impressive. It’s very pretty. Worst thing? I vomited, feeling very sorry for myself, i ended up squatting in the cubicle and sobbing quite loudly. I figured i best shape up and go find Tor and Tash who were getting the drinks in. So i go out, only to find a woman stood outside my cubicle. I had to cough and pretend it wasnt me. Difficult really with vomit around my mouth and tears streaming down my face. The sneaky little bitch though, sneaking in, making me belive i was alone in there. I should have fucking twatted her. But then again, i am weaker than a fucking new-born and i dont really have the stomach to glass somebody. Not at that very moment anyway.

I had every intention to do work today but after 12 full hours of Malcolm in the Middle i cant say i regret my day. I can say i regret going out of my way to get Cheryl Cole’s new album. I like the single, but the rest of it, well its wank really isnt it? I’d still shag her though. God.

Poor old Malcolm Turnbull is once against caught between a rock and a hard place within the tumultuo

Poor old Malcolm Turnbull is once against caught between a rock and a hard place within the tumultuous realms of the Coalition.

The Nationals, God bless ‘em, have already indicated that they don’t want a bar of any of this climate change ETS nonsense and instead want to ignore it completely.

In another kick in the guts, The Australian has reported that two-thirds of the back bench disagree with the Opposition Leader’s plan in what looms as a serious blow to Mr Turnbull’s capacity to negotiate in good faith.

When confronted with the survey results, a triumphant Wilson Tuckey said:

“It has always been my judgment that the back bench are far from comfortable negotiating with the government (on the ETS). This whole process that Macfarlane is pursuing is an attempt to entrap the back bench.”

The survey highlights the yawning gap between the frontbench and the backbench as to what the opposition should do when it comes to the government’s ETS.

Frontbencher Tony “People Skills” Abbott, has suggested the opposition should just pass the ETS and get on with it.

“If we refuse to negotiate, we either doom the legislation or leave it entirely in the hands of the Greens and minor parties. That’s the reality my colleagues need to consider” said People Skills.

But apparently another senior Liberal who did not want to be named said:

“Malcolm has avoided bringing the debate to a head in the partyroom because he knows how it feels. It has never given him any authority to negotiate amendments. If he had tried to get it, he would have failed.

“All he cares about is what he thinks is in his own personal political interest, no matter what the price for the Liberal Party’s long-term credibility.”

Malcolm, who clearly is very concerned with the current dissension in the ranks was unavailable for comment as he is presently having a nice holiday in Italy.

Meanwhile Liberal Senator “Dame” Helen Coonan has rejected The Australian’s findings sayings that she does not think the figure is accurate.

She says the Government is forcing a vote in November and the Opposition should try to improve the ETS.

“There’s a lot of people in the Coalition who are concerned that this matter is being pushed on for a vote prior to Copenhagen when it will be clear what the rest of the world is going to do,” she said.

“I think it is perfectly true to say that is an abiding concern of the Coalition, I have that view myself.”

But Climate Change Minister Penny Wong has questioned the Mr Turnbull’s ability to get party room backing for the bill.

“If Mr Turnbull is unable to do what he said he can do, then it would appear that the Government will not be able to get this legislation through,” she said.

“I mean to get the legislation through without the Opposition’s support would require the Greens, Senator Xenophon and Senator Fielding.

“Now, self-evidently, that is going to be particularly difficult.”

So where is aspiring Prime Minister Malcolm “Leadership Skills” Turnbull in all of this…?

Quaffing back chianti in some bloody villa no doubt!

SUNDAY, 9/27 Day 25. The show was amazing. My voice was mostly mine to use although in the beginning

SUNDAY, 9/27

Day 25.

The show was amazing. My voice was mostly mine to use although in the beginning I could hear I was nervous because there wasn’t as much air support in certain notes. But overall, it was a great ride and I got that people really enjoyed it.

I went out into the audience before I began to greet everyone. Something inside told me to do this. It definitely helped when I was building rapport with the audience from behind the bright lights of the stage. I was hilarious. I’d worked last night on some of my patter and wrote a skeleton of what I’d do in the introduction improv.

I didn’t realize I’d been out of LA for almost 3 years. It’d been that long since I’d performed at home. So, I created this jam that would update folks who knew me from before on what I’d been up to. It went from India to meeting Rich to traveling the world to getting married in San Francisco to working for Obama to singing in China to writing this summer in New York. I’ve done a lot.

Tom and I had great energy between us. We were each others support. He asked me while we were setting the stage if I wanted him behind me.

‘Absolutely not Tommy. Pull your stool up here with me.’

It was great to be able to look to the right and see him there and we worked off each other musically better that way I think.

**

Quite a few people showed up which was a pleasant surprise. I had no idea what to expect. Before I actually went into the room, I could count on my fingers how many folks I knew were coming. That was 8. It’s laughable.

People I never even thought of who’d come were there just like people I assumed would show up, were nowhere to be found. My hairdresser from San Francisco came. My parents neighbors who I baked the cookies for came. Friends I’d campaigned for Obama with out in Toledo, OH came…after taking the LSAT.

It was Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride and I was leading the way. I loved being able to talk with folks in between songs and to use the music as a tool to express more of the human condition. I shared about the song I’d written for Obama about how I came to dedicate that year of my life to the campaign.

I shared that I was sitting with my dad in his office one day at home and we were watching Barack talking about his bid to run for president. My dad had a tear in his eye, a grown ass man, and said, ‘I never thought I’d see this day’. In that moment I knew what I had to do. I stopped singing and spent all of 2008 working for the campaign.

People really appreciated hearing that story.

I also told folks that I hadn’t completed the lyrics to the song, well, that I had completed them at one point, but I had no idea where they were because we’d moved from SF to LA and I still haven’t unpacked all my boxes. So, I improvised on the tune. And I am so glad I did. I haven’t yet watched the footage of the show, but what I remember coming out of me was beautiful. It was free, filled with love and that song allowed my voice to dance all over the stage.

I remember seeing an episode of Malcolm in the Middle where the parents had been taking dance lessons. The camera does a close up of them and their faces. They are graceful, elegant and moving seamlessly. As the camera pulls out and you see the parents from the boys perspective, it’s a totally different experience. The parents are bumping into furniture, off beat and clumsy.

It’s all about perspective…or rather, it’s all about how you feel when you’re doing it.

I’ll watch the tape and let you know.

**

I gave out my second CD to everyone who came to the show. It was a practice of generosity. I know that I have been too stingy when it comes to giving so I wanted to know what it feels like to do that. A couple of people asked if they could pay me but I chose to tell them instead why I wouldn’t accept their money. It felt great to give. I hope people listen to them or at least pass the cd along to someone who might appreciate it.

**

I apparently didn’t read the fine print of the contract Genghis Cohen gave me. If 20 people showed up (which they did), we’d receive 4 bucks for every $7 ticket sold, but when I went to the door woman to collect the money, she said they also took an extra $25 for a…here it goes ladies and gentlemen…a production fee. What the fuck is a production fee?

I’d like to think I am on the up and up when it comes to communicating and I would expect the same from the people I work with. They should just say, they take 4 bucks and give the artist 3 instead of doing that whole production fee thing.

Whatever.

We ended up walking out the door with $67. I gave Tom $50 and then held on proudly to my $17.

I obviously didn’t do this show for the money. I couldn’t even buy a bus ticket (one way) to Vegas with my earnings. I did it to get myself out there. I did it to show the universe how ready I am to be on stage, to perform, to do my life’s work here.

I am going to Agape tomorrow morning for service. I feel excited to be able to contribute to the collection basket with money I’ve earned from singing. I think I’ll give 7 bucks to Agape, put 7 bucks into our savings accounts and spend 3 on me.

Sounds like a plan.

Well well well, situation comedy or preferably called sitcom has been enjoyed by many people around

Well well well, situation comedy or preferably called sitcom has been enjoyed by many people around the world. Personally, I prefer watching sitcoms to watching movies because sitcoms are simultaneous, they have seasons and continuation. And they are just too lovable even the ones have been ended years ago.

What I’m trying to write here are the sitcoms that I promise I will never ever forget. Trust me, the DVD collection of all of them is still complete in my shelf. And, here’s the list.

5. Everybody Loves Raymond

1996 – 2005 (9 seasons)

- America’s first family of comedy begins their last season! -

4. Seinfeld

1990 – 1998 (9 seasons)

- It’s a show about nothing -

3. Malcolm in the Middle

2000 – 2006 (7 seasons)

- A gifted young teen tries to survive with his dimwitted, dysfunctional family -

2. Will & Grace

1998 – 2006 (8 seasons)

- Where there’s a Will there’s a Grace -

1. Friends

1994 – 2004 (10 seasons)

- You can never have enough Friends! -

And to me, Will & Grace and Friends are the most brilliant, hysterical and hilarious TV series ever made in the history.

Will, Grace, Jack and Karen, you all four are the most random people ever grouped in a circle of mates. You show us that gays and straights can go along beautifully.

Rachel, Phoebe, Chandler, Monica, Ross and Joey, you all six are picture perfect of friendship. You give it a real definition, not just an ambiguous word.

The former Captain Janeway actor is joining the line-up of new NBC hospital drama Mercy, which kicks

The former Captain Janeway actor is joining the line-up of new NBC hospital drama Mercy, which kicks off on September 23rd. According to The Hollywood Reporter Mulgrew will play Jeannie Flanagan, the mother of lead character Veronica (Taylor Schilling).

I don’t really know too much about Mercy, other than the basic premise that it’s a hospital drama focussing on three nurses. Judging from the trailer below the lead (Taylor Schilling) has just returned from Iraq, there’s a rookie nurse (Michelle Trachtenberg) and the distinguishing characteristic of the final nurse (Jamie Lee Kirchner) seems to be… ignoring men. Mmkay.

Normally I hear the words “hospital drama” and my brain starts dribbling out of my ears, but having enjoyed Nurse Jackie so much, I’m willing to at least give Mercy a try (although it does have some very Nurse Jackie-esque elements, both shows featuring similar-looking gay nurses as well as nervous new nurses decked out in brightly coloured scrubs.)

Another element in Mercy’s favour are the executive producers of the show; Gail Berman was involved with shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel and Malcolm In The Middle whilst Lloyd Braun was the guy who was forced out of his position at ABC after signing off on the decision to spend an unprecedented $13 million on a TV pilot. That show was Lost.

So, I’ll be giving this new show a try, but if it sucks I’m afraid I’ll show no mercy. Mercy. Get it? Yeah? Yeah?…

I’ll get my coat.

EDIT: Um, yeah… I just watched the trailer again, and the whole thing kinda reeks of a glossier, sanitised version of Nurse Jackie. I’ll still give it a try, but I may well be watching between my fingers and/or cringing for most of it. Yikes.

Malcolm in the middle.

,,Malcolm, special? What do you think that came from?”, die erste Antwort seines Vaters, der mit einem kleinen Lacher die Kundgabe am Esstisch kommentiert. Do you think we are wealthy? Your father and I, we worked so hard, we worked so long. What is wrong with you?! Are you Aboriginees?!”
