Hi,

My name is Zerihun Mammo and I am 23 years old. I am a graduate of Computer Science and Information technology from Haramaya University. But even if i am a computer scientist, I am rich in social activities. I preferred to spent most of my time doing social works rather than sitting on flat LCD screens and TYPE the whole day.  I have been engaged in social activities sicne i was at the age of 11. I love doing advocacies on participation of children, young people and the youth. I love to work on building confidence in young people in order to motivate them contributing some thing for this world.

It was so sad to know young people are considered as problem creators and excluded from decisions which are concerns them. I have no idea why we were considered like that…. because the problems are resulted from the decision made by others and in which we were not involved in.

Any ways, This is my first note and I will be on with other notes too.

I think this is a record…. multiple days in a row of sun!!

I have been knitting and have actually finished 2 projects in the past 2 days…. a pair of mittenettes and a scarf. Oh I also finished a shawl. I’ll sell or gift the mittenettes and scarf the shaw is for moi!! I’ll use it when I go to Jamaica later this year. Can’t wait for that. Now I am working on finishing up projects that I started as long as years ago!!!(and starting a few easy new ones too) The batteries are dead on my new camera(not the rechargeable type) so until I get new ones I can’t take any pictures.

I heard sad news this morning. My son who is in the Army Rotc is away at leadership training camp for a month. There are over 5000 cadets there as well. One young man died there a couple of days ago. It is very scarey stuff. My son will be coming home on Monday morning. I do know that he is out of “tactical training in the woods” and will be “graduating” on Sunday. Hopefully he can call soon as he had to relinquish his cell phone 2 days after arrival.

My doggie, Juneau, is doing about the same. somedays he eats, some days he doesn’t. It is tricky getting his medicines into him. I have discovered that he likes bologna ( haven’t bought that stuff since the kids were little) I wrap up his pills in a little of it and he practically inhales it!!

It is difficult to believe that it’s just been a year since I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I go for my 1 year mammo on friday. I just realized why I am not sleeping well at night.. must be some anxiety over this. Hopefully my boob will get a clean bill of health and I can once and for all put it all behind me.

Off to eat, work in the garden and most importantly knit!!!

Si chiama Susan la biba avuta da Thomas Beatie, di cui si è più volte parlato sia della gravidanza che del parto.

Sembra avere il taglio degli occhi del papà, anzi no, della mamma, anzi no, del mammo e anche se il caso è stato avvolto da molte polemiche il risultato sembra essere più che soddisfacente.

Anche le riviste italiane si sono interessate alla piccola Susan Jiuliette e in questo modo si è potuto ammirare il tenero faccino della piccola.

A quando il prossimo figlio?

Mi rendo conto di andare su un argomento scottante se non esplosivo, ma volevo dire la mia sulla questione del mammo Thomas Beatie.

Ne ho lette un po’ di tutte i colori in merito. Partiamo dalle sue dichiarazioni: “E’ incredibile essere un uomo incinto“.

Per la scienza Beatie è un transgender: non si può parlare di mammo né di “uomo incinto”.

Passando alle varie dichiarazioni, si parla di “caso clinico eccezionale”. Se da un punto di vista strettamente pratico sono d’accordo (non era certo una gravidanza normale), dall’altro non vedo nulla di eccezionale. L’intero apparato riproduttivo era integro.

Ultima cosa, alcuni sostengono che questo è un passo per dimostrare che le coppie omo possono avere figli. Personalmente, sottolineo il personalmente, sembra un passo per dimostrare il contrario. La vicenda mostra come ci vuole un uomo (spermatozoo) e una donna (ovulo) per avere un bambino.

Spero di non scatenare un pandemonio ed invito chiunque a esprimersi con tutta la pacatezza possibile.

NEW YORK (USA) - Thomas Beatie, il “trans incinto” dell’Oregon, era tutto iniziato così, ha partorito una bambina. Lo ha rivelato «Abc News», secondo cui il parto è avvenuto domenica scorsa nell’ospedale di Bend, in Oregon. «È molto carina, molto bella», ha detto una fonte con riferimento alla piccola neonata. Nato donna, Beatie, 34 anni, si è sottoposto a un’operazione chirurgica per farsi rimuovere il seno e da anni assume ormoni per aver un aspetto maschile. Ma ha deciso di conservare l’apparato genitale femminile per poter un giorno avere un figlio, anche perché la moglie Nancy, oggi 45 anni, aveva subito una isterectomia. (Qui il resto dell’articolo)

My very first mammogram was in April of 2007, right before I had my breast implants removed.   Although I was only 34 at the time, and had no history of breast cancer in my family, my plastic surgeon insisted that I have a mammogram performed before he would conduct my surgery.   I remember being surprised because I had always thought you had to be “older” or have the history of cancer present in your family.  In hindsight, a baseline mammogram was a good idea no matter how young I thought I was at the time, or how little history I had in my genetic line.   It was a relief to know I was healthy.

According to the National Cancer Institute, even women who are considered at a low risk of getting cancer should start getting mammograms in their early forties, and continue every one or two years for the rest of their lives.  Younger women (at or or high risk) should ask their doctor regarding what age they should start mammogram screening for breast cancer.  Even if you do not have a history of breast cancer in your family, genetic mutations and other issues may be a factor, so always consult with your doctor the next time you are there for a clinical breast exam.  Remember, you should also be performing a self breast-exam around the same time every month.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (M.R.I.) is also another way you can screen for breast cancer.  Many people feel that this is the best option in early detection; however its availability isn’t as widespread as many would like.  Many times your primary care physician feels it to be a waste of money if you are already testing negative with mammographic screenings.  Often it is used as a follow-up method of detection after positive readings, or when multiple biopsies have been performed with negative results for cancer.  I know it sounds like a fabulous idea, and I would love to have one myself, but the price is what throws off a lot of patients.  Compared to a mammogram ($150.), the price tag for an MRI is considerably more-$1,000.  Insurance doesn’t usually cover a routine M.R.I. breast exam.  Nonetheless, it is another option that you may wish to consider.

There are so many women past the age of 40 who have never had a mammogram and don’t really think about it until around October—National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  While good intentions may be a step further than not thinking about it at all, it won’t get you into the doctor’s office.  Make the appointment; taking a proactive approach can save your life.

E’ rimbalzata per tutto il pianeta la notizia di un uomo che sta per concepire un figlio.

Prima di tutto non si sta parlando di un miracolo: lui, Thomas Beatie, prima era una donna che successivamente ha deciso di operarsi per assumere un aspetto maschile. Infatti, qualche anno fa decise di affrontare un’operazione per la riduzione del seno e di incominciare a sottoporsi ad iniezioni costanti di testosterone.

Nel frattempo, lui, pur non concludendo del tutto la trasformazione con l’operazione di asporto degli organi femminili, ha potuto modificare la sua identità sessuale, dichiarata ormai maschile, e ha sposato una donna Nancy.

Thomas, cittadino dell’Oregon, ha dichiarato nell’intervista al The Advocate, magazine rivolto specialmente ai lettori americani gay, lesbiche, bisessuali e transessuali, che la decisione di sospendere le iniezioni di testosterone e quindi di rimanere “incinto” deriva dal fatto che più volte la moglie ha tentato ma senza alcun esito positivo. Quindi la coppia si è rivolta da una banca del seme dove ha acquistato alcune fialette di sperma.

Queste le sue dichiarazioni nell’intervista:  «La sterilizzazione non è un requisito fondamentale per la riassegnazione del sesso, così ho deciso di preservare il mio diritto a procreare.Sono transgender, legalmente uomo e sposato con Nancy, quando abbiamo deciso di avere un figlio, i nostri familiari sono rimasti choccati mentre molti medici ci hanno respinto. Per i vicini eravamo una coppia normale, ora non lo siamo più. Desiderare un figlio non è una prerogativa femminile, ma fa parte dell’essere umano», conclude dicendo «La gravidanza è una sensazione incredibile. Nonostante la mia pancia cresca giorno dopo giorno, io mi sento uomo e quando mia figlia nascerà, io sarò il padre e Nancy la madre». Il lieto evento è previsto per il mese di luglio.

In questo episodio non vedo niente di sconvolgente, penso che alla nascita del bambino Nancy farà da madre, Thomas da padre.
