I Wonder who will be the winners at this year’s Dj Award Ceremony which is taking place in sunny Ibiza at Pacha in September? In 2009 Sander Van Doorn took the gong for Electro House & David Guetta for House. Best International DJ was Armin Van Buuren. My money for 2010 goes on Benny Benassi & Roger Sanchez!

DJ Mamy rock / Ruth Flowers is just so unbelievable…Have just been listening to her new record ‘Still Rocking.’ Well she’s certainly ‘still rocking!’ at 69 years old! Amazing! The song ‘Mamy Rock’ is even better! Superb guitar! She was even at Glastonbury Festival this year rocking her stuff but unfortunately I didn’t have the pleasure of seeing her there. I’ll be sure to catch sight of her soon no doubt!

Maybe in her hometown of Belle Paris?

Bora Bora Beach Shots

Today I had my photo shoot taken on the beach. Had to get there super early before the tide came in! Sascha Vine my amazing photographer took some great shots of me prancing around in the water and posing on the sands. The sky was so blue and it was a truly fab morning! Photos are now being worked on therefore I should have some on my site within the next couple of weeks…So watch this space!

James Bond Soundtrack

I’ve been listening to some classic James Bond tracks featuring some great tracks…my all time favourite being ‘Live and let die’ by Wings! (Paul McCartney) What a tremendous, dramatic theme that was! This sort of music has definitely influenced my own musical creations which I’ve co- written with the fabulously talented Chip Jenkins…Each of our songs has drama & intrigue within it. Being such an avid fan of Film Music, I won’t move from my seat until the last note has been played when watching a film…the music to me is as important as the film itself.

Ruth Flowers es un vivo ejemplo de que la edad no te limita. Con la edad de 69 años Ruth es la dj profesional mas “vieja” del mundo, tambien conocida como “Mamy Rock”. Proveniente de Inglaterra, ella se dedica a poner musica en los clubs de Francia, utilizando sus audifonos, ropa trendy deportiva y sus tornas, ella logra prender el ambiente en estos lugares.

Su carrera comienza a la edad de 65 años, al haber sido invitada a una fiesta de cumpleaños de su sobrino, en la cual tuvo problemas para poder entrar al club, por la edad que tenia, sin embargo al entrar, ella fue bien recibida por toda la gente que estaba alli. Al entrar al lugar ella disfruta del ambiente que la rodea, ya que la hizo sentir mas joven.

Al gustarle todo eso, ella le comenta a su sobrino que quiere convertirse en DJ, para lo cual el piensa que ella esta loca con una idea asi, aun asi, el le presenta a un amigo que es productor, el cual le enseña lo basico en la musica electronica. Despues de aprender lo basico, ella se mueve por su propia cuenta y empieza a mezclar y producir su propio material, creando asi su propio estilo.

La verdad es una historia inspiradora la de esta anciana, sobre todo para los dj o para los que quieren serlo, ya que como dice el viejo dicho “NUNCA se es demasiado tarde para aprender” ó algo por el estilo.

Our new song is called “Keep Running”.

Yep I’m certainly running! Have been going to the gym every day attempting to get as fit as I possibly can & to look as good as I possibly can too… It’s changed so much since the moment Chip Jenkins came up with her genius backing music a while back. The mood of the song has changed the most but I feel now that it’s finally where it needs to be & it’s sounding better than I’d have ever thought. Chip came up with the melody for the chorus this time which I must add is exceptionally hooky, amazing stuff ….I’ve come up with a pretty good bridge myself, now for the verse!!!!??? Think we need to add some chords underneath though to enhance my artistic flow!?

Puff puff pant pant!!!! I feel like ‘Forest Gump!!!’ I think I ought to stop!?

Say Yeah/Make it Happen : is such a great tune and the lyrics are extremely positive. I wrote them in the hope that everyone who listens to the song will feel the vibe I’m conveying. In short ‘Say Yeah and Make it Happen’ means ‘saying yes’ to giving life your best shot! Don’t stop believing in yourself and let music be your inspiration to do great things. We are all great at something and its in finding that greatness within us, and following that truth, that we find the happiness and success we deserve. Music can be such an incredible healer. So here’s to hoping that millions of people hear this song, feeling its positive vibe, bringing about a transformation in their lives.

The Ministry of Sound Inspired our Choir

I had an idea today…Say Yeah/Make it Happen (yep I know my song titles are still bit on the long side) would sound great with a choir backing me in the chorusy bit when I sing ‘Say Yeah! You can Make it Happen Baby!’ So any choirs out there who fancy sharing a piece of Rachel Fellini let me know? Would sound particularly great with a choir sung live on stage!

I’m pleased to say we’ve found ourselves a cracking choir and they are going to be recording on the track in September!

Matt Twaites (my sound engineer) is a genius… he has painstakingly made every single sound on my song “With Poison (Hold On)” – sound like liquid gold. (I love my short song titles!)

And no I am not wearing fake tan in this picture – although a little trip to Ibiza would not go amiss!

I wrote With Poison in a passionate frenzy of creativity and it is sort of a ‘Romeo & Juliet’ tale of love under pressure from family feuds. Or it could be a take on anyone who has to overcome extraordinary odds to fight for their love.
