Man In Grave Condition Following Hit-And-Run In Pomona

POMONA (CBS) — Police say a 44-year-old man, who was struck by a hit-and-run driver in Pomona, was listed in grave condition at a hospital on Sunday.

The accident at Mission Boulevard and Park Avenue was reported at 10:58 p.m. Saturday, according to Pomona police Sgt. Christian Hsu and a county fire dispatcher.

Hsu said a smaller, red 1990s sedan struck the man and kept going.

The identity of the victim was withheld until his next of kin could be notified about the accident.

No other information was immediately available.

Chelsea Man Critical After Being Hit By Bolt Bus

CHELSEA (CBS) – A man is in critical condition after getting hit by a Bolt bus on Route 16 in Chelsea overnight.

It happened just after midnight on the westbound side at Washington Avenue.

Police say the unidentified victim, a 50-year-old man from Chelsea, was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital with potential life-threatening injuries.

State police closed down that section of Route 16 after the accident.

The bus was operated by a Brockton man. Police say no charges have been filed at this point in their investigation.

Man hit while crossing street

A man walking across a busy Davenport street is in the hospital.

Police say, a car going down Locust Street hit an elderly man at about 5 p.m. Saturday, when he tried to cross at the intersection of Harrison and Locust Street in Davenport.

The pedestrian was taken to Genesis East with minor injuries.

The driver of the vehicle was also taken to the hospital.

No word on if any charges have been filed in the case.

Man's Legs Severed In Long Beach Train Accident

LONG BEACH (CBS) — A man was hit by a freight train Thursday moring in Long Beach and his legs were severed, authorities said.

A passerby found the injured man about 5:15 a.m. near the tracks east of Cherry Avenue and north of Artesia Boulevard and notified authorities, the Long Beach Fire Department said.

Paramedics took the man, said to be in his 20s, to a hospital where he is in critical condition. Firefighters found the severed limbs, packed them in ice and brought them to the hospital for possible reattachment.

The tracks are not used by passenger trains, officials said. The train did not stop at the location, and an investigation was being conducted.

Bicyclist Fatally Struck And Dragged By Metro Blue Line Train

LONG BEACH (CBS) — A man on a bicycle was fatally struck and dragged by a Metro Blue Line train in Long Beach, fire and transit officials said Thursday.

The crash occurred around 1:45 p.m. near the Wardlow Station, said Jose Ubaldo of the MTA.

The victim, identified only as a Hispanic man in his 30s, had been traveling eastbound on a bike. The man was struck by a northbound train near Pacific Avenue and Wardlow Road, said Matt Dobbertuhl of the Long Beach Fire Department.

“He was dragged several hundred feet and was dead upon our arrival,” Dobbertuhl said.

Ubaldo said trains are experiencing a 15-minute delay, and that is expected to be longer. Buses will be shuttling passengers between the Wardlow and Willow stations.
