A famous musical flop is returning to Broadway. Paul Simon’s The Capeman, which lost $11 million on Broadway in 1998 and earned Simon the nickname “The Flopman,” is being consider for next years’s  Public Theater season, the New York Post reports. Oskar Eustis, the head of the Public Theater, is in talks with Simon about bringing the show back next year. “Oskar loves ‘The Capeman,’ ” a Public Theater spokesperson says. “He loves the music and the story. He has met with Paul Simon, but there are not concrete plans at this time.”

Well, they may not be “concrete,” but there are plans, according to the gossipy Post.

Eustis, sources say, wants to do a concert version of the show. The book—by Nobel Prize winning Derek Walcott—will be pretty much eliminated, which is a good thing, sources say, “because it’s dreadful.” But Walcott’s lyrics — and Simon’s tunes — are haunting. “Born in Puerto Rico,” “Satin Summer Nights” and the gorgeous “Time Is an Ocean” are first-rate songs that got lost in the mess that wound up on Broadway.

“The Capeman” was never recorded, but Simon made a studio album, “Songs From the Capeman,” the year before the show opened that’s well worth hunting down.

Simon performed songs from “The Capeman” at BAM last year, which is where Eustis got the idea of bringing back the show. Simon, the Post reports, might perform in the Public Theater version as well.

“The Capeman” tells the story of Salvador Agrón, a Puerto Rican gang member who murdered two teenagers in Hell’s Kitchen in 1959.

The original production starred Ruben Blades as old Salvador and Marc Anthony as young Salvador.

If Eustis can get Anthony to play old Salvador in the Public’s concert version — and if Simon’s in it, too — you’re looking at a hot ticket.

El hotel se diseñó y construyó bajo la supervisión personal del legendario hotelero Cesar Ritz, de quien adoptó el nombre.El Ritz ha desempeñado un papel esencial en la vida de Madrid durante el último siglo. Aún hoy, el hotel persiste como un punto de atracción clave para muchos visitantes de esta capital europea.

A principios del siglo pasado, el rey Alfonso XIII volvía de sus viajes por Europa con el recuerdo de los palacios que había visitado impreso en la memoria. Madrid era una ciudad de intensa vitalidad, con edificios soberbios y hermosos jardines. Sin embargo, de un modo u otro le faltaba algo. El Rey fue el primero en ser consciente de cuánto ganaría la ciudad si contara con un gran hotel de lujo de la misma categoría del Ritz de París o Londres.

Se puso manos a la obra y no perdió tiempo en poner estas ideas en práctica. Madrid debía ofrecer a sus visitantes algo realmente extraordinario: un hotel que pudiera satisfacer el gusto más refinado de un nuevo tipo de viajero, que sólo por aquel entonces empezaba a conocerse como “turista”.

El sueño del monarca comenzó a hacerse realidad. La edificación del Ritz -grandioso, luminoso y confortable- había comenzado con el respaldo de la Compañía de Desarrollo Ritz. Charles Mewes, de París, y Luis de Landecho, de Madrid, fueron los arquitectos responsables. En poco tiempo, las paredes del futuro hotel sobrepasaban ya las magnolias, los cedros y las acacias del Prado.

Lo último en comodidad y lujo en aquella época era contar con cuatro o cinco cuartos de baño en cada planta del hotel. Con instalaciones como éstas, el Ritz se convirtió de inmediato en uno de los hoteles más lujosos del mundo. Había un teléfono por piso junto al ascensor, el cual también estaba considerado como un ejemplo sublime del lujo moderno.

Actualmente, el Hotel Ritz mantiene estas tradiciones, aunque los baños y teléfonos son estándar en todas las habitaciones, las cuales cuentan además con conexiones Wireless de alta velocidad a Internet.

A su vez el  Restaurante Goya es cita obligada para los paladares más exigentes, el té de media tarde en el Lobby Bar, un almuerzo o cena en La Terraza disfrutando de los increíbles jardines unido a un discreto pero atento servicio, hacen de los Restaurantes y Bar del Ritz los lugares más exclusivos de Madrid.

 On October 13th, the President and First Lady hosted the third installment of the White House Music Series, this one celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. Fiesta Latina brought some of the country’s best Latin music performers to the White House, including: Mark Anthony, Gloria Estefan, Jose Feliciano, Pete Escovedo, Thalía, Tito “El Bambino,” Aventura, Los Lobos and Sheila E., with hosts Jimmy Smits, Eva Longoria and George Lopez.

Ok, no siempre los “famosos” deben de lucir como en una pasarela, pero hay ocasiones en las que no solo es lo que llevan puesto lo que los hace verse mal, acabados o fachosos, en este caso es evidente que de la latina “hot – culona” de los 90′ que era la Jennifer no queda mucho, salvo una mujer que ya se ve vieja y con su unico atractivo por los suelos, si, me refiero a su trasero… XD

Well, I have been on my new job for about three weeks so far and I have been listening to my iPod during my drives to and from work (about a 40 minute drive). One of the latest playlists that I have put on my iPod is music from PBS’s Latin Music USA. I can’t believe how much I liked that show!

Here is one of the songs that was featured on the program. I love this song. I have had it on my iPod for a couple of years, but it wasn’t until I saw the show that I started listening to it.* It is “Vivir lo Nuestro” (1994) by Marc Anthony featuring La India.

I have a number of songs by Marc Anthony in my collection. But this was the first time that I heard of  La India (Linda Viera Caballero) is a noted Grammy Award and Latin Grammy Award-nominated singer of salsa also known as the Princess of Salsa. I will definitely be adding some of La India’s music to my collection.

(I will blog about all the songs I have on my iPod and haven’t listen to yet at a later date. You know that saying, she who dies with the most songs wins! That’s me!)

La cantante filmó escenas eróticas con su ex marido y ahora él amenaza con difundir las imágenes.

¿Qué dirá Marc Anthony cuando se entere? Un diario de los Estados Unidos reveló que la cantante Jennifer Lopez protagonizó hace unos años un video sexual casero con su primer marido Ojani Noa. El ex de la estrella latina amenaza con difundir la cinta y ella está preocupada.
Según se publicó en la prensa norteamericana JLo y su ex hicieron una grabación de 11 horas, donde se puede ver escenas de sexo explícito, con juguetes sexuales y todo.

La publicación afirma que el video incluye imágenes de la esposa de Marc Anthony, teniendo sexo en una habitación y en otros lugares.

El sitio labotana.com detalló que en una escena Jennifer está mirando en un espejo de baño, vestida sólo con lencería erótica, mostrando su codiciada cola.

En otra escena, supuestamente ella se ríe mientras la cámara la sorprende sin ropa interior al subirse a una moto, con un vestido corto.

En otro fragmento del video, el ex de Jennifer la persigue en una habitación y le da nalgadas, ante las risas de la cantante.

Las fuentes dicen que está preocupada porque su ex amenaza con difundir el video.

Ok like I stated in yesterday’s post, we needed to:

1. Pressure Brady…DIDN’T HAPPEN…..
2. No turn overs…which they did, so we stayed in the game…
3. New wrinkle to the wild cat..good move
4. No drop passes…WHICH WE HAD SOMEWHERE OF ABOUT 6 DROPS MAYBE MORE…

We can’t win games with a non-existent passing attack. Ginn and Haynos both SUCK…Actually neither of the receiving corp can catch a cold in a snow storm, well maybe except Camarillo…What the hell were they thinking in the off-season. They actually thought we were ok in our receiving corp. There were quite a few great receivers available…HUM….let me see…T.O (I know what you are thinking but at least he can catch and make big plays), Braylon Edwards( Shit he went to the Jets)…..I don’t know but we are not that far from being a real good team, we just need some help from the organization. I mean forget Gloria, Jennifer and Mark Anthony…How about players that can win, forget all of those celebs, they all suck anyways…Since they own part of the team come out-of-pocket and buy some receivers.

Hopefully in the off-season they will wake up and realize that a great running game isn’t enough, I mean I hope that don’t waste the aging backs we have…Like the Jimmy Johnson era, he aged a great Defense with no Offense…Damn let me run the team….I guess it’s easier said than done right..Just frustrated, after 26 years of no super bowl appearances I am frustrated….

Jennifer Lopez is reportedly furious at her first ex-husband, Ojani Noa. This lovers spat isn’t about finances or taking out the trash, though, but about something far more personal.

According to The National Enquirer, J.Lo’s ex is threatening to release nearly 11 hours of footage, some of which includes a naked Lopez running around and asking to be spanked by her former husband.

This is a far cry from the wholesome image she’s been representing with now-husband Marc Anthony, the father of her 20-month old twins. It’s also not the kind of activity stars on the A-list find themselves wrapped up in.

• Marc Anthony, “I Need to Know” — I don’t remember which car company used this song in a recent commercial; I just remember that I like the tune.  I can live without the lyrics, but I like the music.
• Spencer Davis Group, “Gimme Some Lovin’” — No, I’m not using this as a pick-up line. It’s just cool retro music.
• Ben Folds, “Kalamazoo” — I’ve gotta give some love to a song about the area where I live.
• Heart, “Alone” — You love the ’80s. You know you do.
• Jimi Hendrix, “The Star-Spangled Banner” — It’s a classic.
• Lady GaGa, “Poker Face” — This was the first song I heard after I finished the Detroit marathon.

Una extraña mezcla entre amor y odio fue lo que sentí al ver a Marc Anthony en vivo y directo durante su presentación en el Lara Top Festival 2009, realizado en el Estadio Metropolitano de Barquisimeto.

Por instantes, amé su actitud de divo e ínfulas de grandeza. Al terminar cada canción, el tipo se quedaba mirando al público- con cierta arrogancia y pose de revista- esperando más aplausos, como si los recibidos no fueran suficientes. Es un monstruo. Sabe muy bien lo que hace y disfruta al máximo la divina sensación de superioridad.

En otros momentos lo odié con todas mis fuerzas por poseer semejante voz. ¿Cómo puede cantar de esa manera? Vocalmente está a otro nivel, traspasa lo imaginable.  Se luce en cada nota y con su voz derrocha una energía que contagia e hipnotiza. Yo quisiera la cuarta parte de su gañote, con eso me conformo.

• Fui al Top Festival….aunque suene raro.

• No pasé roncha y no lo puedo creer. Como a todos los conciertos que voy, llegué tarde porque me choca esperar. Cuando llegué, ya todo el mundo había entrado así que no tuve que hacer cola ni nada. Nos dieron unos pases mágicos, conseguimos puesto de estacionamiento cerquita y entramos velozmente al área VIP. Buen puesto.

• Todo el mundo siempre está esperando (no sé por qué) que el gobierno les de “algo”. Yo, en mi vida, y de éste muchísimo menos. Pero por primera vez digo que recibí algo del gobierno regional: una acreditación para lo más importante de su plan de gobierno, es decir, el Top Festival. Y sin pedirla, ¿cuánto no es? No iré a ninguna otra función, por cierto, pero gracias.

• Nunca había visto a Servando y Florentino y los amé. Nadie me cree, pero me encantan. Tienen mala fama de todo pero son unos artistas, que lo digan la Nerd y la niña fresa. Y cantan de verdad, con el perdón de algunos amigos que dicen que cantan y no cantan nada, por ejemplo. Me gustaron, y?

• Rubén Blades es un señor artista. 2 horas de concierto de las canciones de siempre, del soundtrack de Feli, demasiado fino. Como no tiene temas nuevos, cantó esos clásicos eternos: Plástico, Decisiones, Ligia Elena, Plantación adentro….ahhhhh y María Lionza, demasiado Yaracuy!!!!!!   =)    Impecable, así como uno se imagina que es una gente que ha oído toda la vida., aunque sea indirectamente.

• Marc Anthony definitivamente no me gusta. Tiene tremenda voz, eso sí. Pero me pasó eso que le pasa a uno cuando tiene que calarse canciones seguidas de una música que no le gusta, estilo ruta: me obstiné. Muy imponente, muy “internacional”, la gente vuelta loca, pero qué se le hace? El hombre no me gusta en lo más mínimo. Y además es un payaso: Hizo una dramatización de emoción, medio temblaba, se persignaba, y ya iba a llorar. Ay no, mi amor con bastante payaso tengo que lidiar a diario pa calarme un showcito así voluntariamente. Next.

• Lo único divertido para mí de que viniera Marc Anthony era escuchar a toda la humanidad pronunciar mal su nombre. Unos más pa’lante, simplemente dicen “Marántoni” y otros demasiado gringoleo “Merkkkk-azoni”. ¿Es tan difícil decir Marcántoni?

• El estadio es tan enorme que los gritos son demasiado finos…da esa sensación de concierto sabroooooosa que tan poco se ve en Barquisimeto. Lo malo es que como comentábamos allí, un concierto de rock no llena eso ni en mil años: sabemos lo pichiiiiiirres que son los rockeros guaros para pagar entrada y luego, nunca hay suficiente motivación, como sí la tienen evidentemente los pachangosos y románticos.

• Como Marc Anthony me obstinó, me fui temprano y no encontramos cola saliendo, así que llegué rapidito a mi casa y no puedo creer que no tenga ni un solo cuento de roncha al respecto.

• De mi lista de conciertos, este es el primero “tropical” al que he ido. Fue raro, la verdad.

• Ahora, hablar de los animadores, de la actitud y pinta de 31 de diciembre de la gente en el VIP, de lo bárbaro y desconsiderado que me parece por parte de la gobernación generar el caos que desencadena un evento así en la ciudad y escupir para su casa a las 40 mil personas que asisten a las 4 de la mañana, como si fueran 40 mil que no tienen oficio, un MARTES, MIÉRCOELS, JUEVES…..es redundar. Ni hablar del marco teórico del Top Festival. Los que vivimos en el estado Lara sabemos que es el hijo consentido de nuestras autoridades. Y ya, aquí no hay preocupación de otro tipo. Así que también es redundar.

• Y esa fue toda mi experiencia en el Top Festival, porque no hay nadie medianamente decente en el cartel que me haga regresar al municipio Palavecino para celebrar con “el gobernador de los grandes eventos”.

 PD: Y sí vine a trabajar al día siguiente,  por si acaso…..

The film is based on the life story of  Salsa singer Hector Lavoe. Growing up listening to Mr. Lavoe, adoring Marc Anthony and admiring Jennifer’s work; this movie has it all. Amazing wardrobe, great actors and the life of a great legend in the hispanic community (althought his personal life was a disaster). I love this movie.

Marc Anthony and JLo were seen at the Miami Dolphins’ game last night.  JLo looked great, but Marc Anthony apparently forgot his Right Guard, because he was seen sweating profusely under his underarms.  And I guess he really didn’t know it, because he was just waving and raising his arms for everyone to see and photograph.  I tell you who really didn’t know was JLo, because you know she would have shut it down until one of their people went and purchased him a new shirt, so he would be looking suitable to accompany her!  American Idol Kris Allen was on hand too.
