Forever 21 has just launched another collection called Boutique by Forever 21.  The line is “vintage inspired, feminine and romantic” but still casual.

And they just launched a cosmetics line called Love and Beauty, which makes it the first beauty line for a fast fashion brand on U.S. soil according to WWD. The line can be found on forever21.com along with their new clothing collection.

Marchesa is now making handbags.  They showed their handbags with their collection for spring 2010.  Rihanna was spotted wearing a  black and white laser cut out Marchesa gown at the 2009 American Music Awards.

A list of ten fashion catchphrases.  Of course, one from Rachel Zoe is on the list.  I get the idea of smizing, but it just sounds weird to me.

Somehow, someone at Ungaro still thinks having Lindsay Lohan, “hot mess”, around is a good idea.   Even though, her collection was widely derided in the industry.

Check out itlooksgoodtome.  It’s a blog by a textile designer for the fashion industry.  It’s a collection of things she likes and all the illustrations are done by her.  She’s just finished a guest blog on luckymag.com.

It’s another photoshop fiasco.  Demi Moore for V Magazine in gold Balmain, and apparently part of her hip has been shaved down.  She’s insisting the photos have been barely retouched and she’s just skinny.  Yeah, just like she hasn’t had any “work” done.

Actress, Michelle Trachtenberg is the latest to join the ranks of “celebrity designers” with a jewelry collection for Coach’s Poppy line.

The Victoria’s Secret fashion show won’t be aired for a couple days til December 1st but here’s a little preview.

Last but not least, December’s edition of British Vogue features a collection of stories on the 7 Wonders of Fashion from various contributors.  Some choice items are the high heel (of course), the corset, and the pencil skirt.

The Boyf is getting nervous. He thinks I’m all set to get wed. And I’ll admit, I have thrown coal into the fire with my current obsession with all things bridal related. But it’s nothing to do with him; I blame reality TV.

If you haven’t yet seen Living TV’s fantastic Four Weddings you’ve missed out. And don’t get me started on BBC3’s Don’t Tell the Bride, it’s, like, The. Best. Show. Ever. Gets me yelling at the television every time. The concept? The Beeb gives one (un)lucky couple £12,000 to let the groom plan the entire wedding in three weeks, with absolutely no input from the bride. Yep, it’s my idea of hell too!

Since the boy wonder manages to fall alseep during every episode, I am inevitably forced to call the BFF to rant about the ridiculous Jordan-esque monstrosity the groom has picked out for his chic bride who’s looking for a dress that’s elegant in its simplicity. Why is it that men can look at a woman and what she wears every day for years and still have no idea how to judge her personal style?

Anyway, all this has me thinking about Bridal trends and what route down the aisle I might (one day!) take myself. I’d like to think my day-to-day wardrobe is fashion-forward yet understated and believe a wedding gown should reflect that. But then there’s the part of me that wants the once-in-a-lifetime ‘Hey up! Over here, yup all eyes on me please!’ show-stopper of a dress. Whichever you choose, it’s the one day in your life that you absolutely must get it right. There’s no margin for error.

Gosh, it’s stressful just thinking about weddings even without the fiancé, ring and mounting credit card debt. The Boyf needn’t worry, I’m no fan of premature ageing. I think I’ll stay single, with my only dress-dilemma being how much to fork out for a Christmas party frock.

When looking for a proper picture of Olivia Wilde’s Marchesa’s dress, one of the places I scoured was Marchesa’s website after I had found out that’s where her dress was from. I didn’t find a picture of Olivia’s dress, but I did find a couple of dresses they make that could make a great wedding dress/bridesmaids dress.

What I love about these dresses, is the simple elegance to all of them. I love the layers of organza. The embroidered bodice on C10808 is beautiful.

For women looking for a colored wedding dress, Look 15 is for the ones looking for a black wedding dress. I think it’s stunning. As for C10907, outside of it being a short dress (which scores points in my book), it has a Jackie O feel to it. It’s simple and yet so elegant at the same time. C10907 also comes in different colors (Colbalt, Violet, Lipstick, Black and White (which is pictured above)).

C10910 and C10905 comes in two colors, gold and pewter. I love the fabric rose on C10910 and the fabric flare on C10905. I find these dresses fashion forward and romantic at the same time. This is for the modern bridal party, these dresses would really make your best friends stand out in a big way.

I hope you liked looking at these dresses from Marchesa as much as I liked posting them.

As I was looking through one of my website guilty pleasures, Perez Hilton, I saw Olivia Wilde wearing this hawt little number from Marchesa to the GQ’s 14th Annual Men of the Year awards last friday. I think this would be a fabulous short wedding dress for the modern woman.

Carrie Underwood in Theia – I really love this look. Sometimes I get tired of the whole Grecian look,  but then again I love the one-shouldered dress. AND THOSE SHOES! – 4.5

Alicia Keys in Giorgio Armani – The dress is fantastic. And the shoes are okay. The jewelry is a bit much and the hair can go… This look had potential to be a 5, but because of everything else I’m just going to give it a 3.

Leona Lewis in Vivienne Westwood – 2 Vivienne Westwood is great, sure. I’d love to see Leona try some other designers now too. NO to those boots.

Shakira in Versace. 5! I really love this dress. I don’t really like the shoes… but my love for the dress overrules. Shakira looks really great in this dress. It was perfect for her.

Demi Lovato in Jenny Packham – 3.5. I like that Demi went very natural for this look everything from her shoes, to her dress color, to her makeup. It washes her out a little bit, but it’s nice to see her clean up and not look so out there. The dress is okay. The neckline is too much for me.

Selena Gomez in Talbot Runhof. 4. This is a very age-appropriate dress for her. She looks cute!

Kelly Clarkson. 1.5. oh noooo Kelly this dress is so unflattering and is a bejeweled disaster ahh

Kristen Bell in Christian Cota – 4. She looks great! You don’t see a dress like that everyday. Kristen made a midriff showing dress classy instead of trashy.

Nicole Kidman in Balenciaga. I don’t care if it’s Balenciaga…this is so wrong. 1

Edyta Sliwinska – Why so many cutouts? This brings me back to terrible memories of Blake Lively’s dangerous slit dress. 2

Kayle Ewell - This dress is AMAZING! This is something I would wear! 5!

Shaun Robinson. It’s nice. It’s safe. 3

Paula Abdul cleaned up nicely. Usually her red carpet outfits suck really hard, but this is actually nice. I usually don’t like the fish tail either especially when Beyonce has a dress with one, but this is something I wouldn’t mind looking at. 4

Jennifer Lopez in Gucci. 3 Meh Nicky Hilton could probably wear this dress a lot better than you.

Pretty shades of blue, green, and violet are all the rage for the holidays – and it seems they’re here to stay for Spring.

Of course we expect a dramatic dress from Rihanna, but do we dig this one? The structural element of the dress is a breath of fresh air, but the amount of the floral cutouts seems somewhat “extra”; I would much rather see a few cutouts as opposed to an abundance of them. I don’t know what to look at: Rihanna’s beautiful makeup, or the dress.

And white mary-jane pumps? I guess the “no white after labor day” rule has been demolished! (Thank God).

Rihanna was not playing last night at the American Music Awards.

On the red carpet she wore a black and white Marchesa dress with laser-cut floral detailing (not a big fan of the white shoes though).

For her performance she took bondage to the next level with a white bandage bodysuit with a very strong shoulder.

Nice to see someon pushing fashion boundaries.  Shall we call her the Lady Gaga of R&B?

..with Olivia Wilde’s dress at the 2009 GQ Men of the Year Awards. The simple architectural lines and shapes simply looked stunning on her. To no surprise it was a Marchesa dress from the bridal collection. I’ve always loved Marchesa’s dresses and she rocked the dress even when it was created for a blushing bride. Though I would’ve paired the outfit with more interesting shoes,  she was still a showstopper. It also helped that she is incredibly gorgeous. If only I had a botttomless bank account and endless glamourous events to attend, I would wear Marchesa forever. Mark my words.

Unfortunately, Marchesa’s success sparked controversy as co-founder of Marchesa, Georgina Chapman, struggled to prove herself within the fashion industry because of her marital status. Married to mega producer Harvey Weinstein, press publicized that actresses only wore Chapman’s frocks to seal movie deals with Weinstein. Lucky for Chapman, cream always rises to the top, and so she did with her intricate and stunning dresses. In fact, her dresses became more and more breathtaking each season. A woman I greatly admire for her tenacity and creativity.

When I get married, I would love for my dress to be Marchesa. Marchesa was founded in 2004 by Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig, two British women who CLEARLY know how to dress a woman. Marchesa dresses are opulent and elegant, they are the so feminie, class but not boring. Marchesa dresses have become a favorite on the red carpet in recent years and I can definitely see why. Some may say they are over the top but I LOVE THEM! This dress Eva Longoria wore to the MET Costume Gala was probably my favorite Marchesa dress ever.

The brand, mintdesigns was launched in 2001. They have been in Tokyo Collection since ‘03 S/S. The awards they won include the Moet et Chandon New Designer’s Award in 2005. In 2007, mintdesigns garage store opened in Shibuya PARCO. They presented their collection in the 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT THIS PLAY! show. In 2008, they presented the opening show at São Paulo Fashion Week for ‘09 S/S. Both designers currently hold positions as guest professors at the Faculty of Art and Design at Osaka Seikei University. In 2009 they presented their collection at the Milano Salone TOKYO FIBER ‘09.Mint Designs turned out a dainty crop of dresses featuring details such as shimmery stripes, textured fabric and quirky graphics. One frock featured a darling print of tiny Charlie Chaplins, while another showcased circular cutouts along the sides.

I think Blake Lively is lovely however, she really needs to update her looks. Often than not she is in a deep V low cut dress showing lots of legs at major functions. It makes her too one dimentional and lacks characteristics. I know she has stunning legs and nice ‘booblies’ but, showing it everytime will only tire out the onlookers.Just a thought.
