Ne stamperemo una certa quantità ma ci stiamo autotassando per farlo quindi chiunque vorrà e potrà stamparne un certo numero di copie in maniera autonoma sarà di grande aiuto per la causa. So I ventured down from my temporary nesting place in Syracuse, NY to Alfred, NY to watch the Division III playoffs for football.  Albright College was hosted by Alfred University in which both teams only had one lost.  Albright was 9-1 and Alfred was 8-1.  Upon entering Alfred, we took in the small town atmosphere, which seemed virtually nothing.  It was just a small town in the middle of NY state.  The campus of Alfred wasn’t much better.  We didn’t see much but what we did see, it sucked.  The field was the worst though.  It was the old school astroturf that the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles used to play on.  It was a concrete slab with a spongy carpet on it.  So it may have been softer then the Cowboys’ or Eagles’ fields, but never-the-less it still sucked.  The one good thing about there stadium was that the away bleachers were on a hill that overlooked the field.  So we could see everything going on…well the fans could, I was on the sidelines roaming around with a Canon 1D Mark-II.  Anyway, I Albright played a great game.  It was 10-7 Alfred at the half but Albright opened up a can of ass kicking on Alfred and came out and scored two unanswered touchdowns.  Alfred would rally back to get within 3 pts. but could never over come the defensive pressure.  In the end, Albright won 35-25 and advances to the second round of the playoffs.  They are playing Delaware Valley next, the only team to beat Albright this season.

Here is my analyses for the upcoming game.  Albright will need to do a hell of better job this time around.  Last game against Del Val, the Lions had a horrible first half, losing 21-0 going into the second quarter.  The offense played characteristically horrible and the defense couldn’t stop the passing game.  Albright’s defense will need to shut down the Aggies running back like they did last time, but do a lot better job defending the pass.  On offense, the Lions need to work the run, which will set up the pass.  Common sense right?  Well last meeting between the two, Albright threw what seemed to be 90% of the time.  Josan Holmes is a good running back and with the constant pressure he can put on defenses, Tanner Kelly or Patrick Subers will be able to throw the deep ball.  The lions did a great job against Alfred establishing the run and hitting the short 3-4 yards receptions to open up the big plays.  Hopefully the Lions can turn it around this time and play better football.  I think with the emergence of Patrick Subers as a fill-in QB, Albright now has two QBs that can run the offense effectively.  So it might be in the interest of head coach John Marzka to rotate them or let Kelly start the game and Subers finish.  I really hope Albright can get over this mental road block that is Delaware Valley and get a huge win next saturday.

So jumping back to the present, I just want to say that my manager at Goldstein is a huge bitch.  I can’t stand her and she is by far the worst person that I have ever met.  She wreaks of bitchy qualities and I just can’t stand her.  The other day at work I was cleaning up Jump, the asian food section of the food court, and it was me, Lena (student supervisor), and Rafael standing there trying to figure the date out.  I put the wrong date on the food and then we stood there for a moment trying to figure out the right date.  Well at this time, Marcia (my manager) walks by and sees us standing there.  Instead of calling all three of us out, she calls out just me.  Why?!?!  I don’t know.  I think she doesn’t like me.  I don’t know why.  I mean yea sometimes when shit is slow and there is nothing to do I’ll stand at my station and take a break, who doesn’t?  Well apparently I should be the fucking energizer bunny and be moving all the time.  Screw that, there are full time people that work in Goldstein that do way less than I do.  I don’t get it.  I stop moving for more than 10 seconds and I get condemned for no reason.  She is a huge bitch and I can’t stand her.  Anyway, so going back to thursday when we were trying to figure out the date, later on Lena goes into the office or runs into Marcia and Marcia tells her that she is pissed and is tired of me standing around doing nothing and talking all the time.  Next time she sees me do it, I won’t be working there anymore.  I tell her to bring it on.  I don’t care if she fires me or not, just let it be in the last week so I can still get paid.  But seriously, the managers treat the students like were full time employees and that is all we do.  It’s retarded how inflexible and unreasonable they are.  It amazes me, it really does.  It’s stupid how they run everything there.   It completely defies everything thing that is logical.  I can’t stand working at Goldstein anymore primarily because of Marcia.  You know it’s bad when other people in the other food service places don’t like her.  She is a huge bitch that can’t do her job properly.  They must have hired her just to walk around and bitch at people all day long.  Seriously, that’s all she does.  Ok, I am getting off this topic.

So Thanksgiving is coming up and I am excited and a little torn.  I am excited because I get to go home and see my family and my doggy and the only friend that I still hang out with.  I am also excited because I get to see Arline again and we are going to NYC for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.  I can’t wait for that because I think it’ll be fun and it’ll be the first that I have spent more than 6 hours in the city.  I’ll get to go to B&H Photo Video and see my dream store.  I’ll get to eat NYC food again and hopefully find some good ass food.  But it’ll be fun.  I’ll have tons of pictures as always.  The only thing that is tearing me up is that I haven’t been home since August and I am really missing it.  I would love to spend Thanksgiving with the family, but I also want to see Arline.  I am going to NYC definitely but I am totally missing my family right now.  I’ll be home on friday and have to leave on sunday to come back to the Cuse.  So what that means is that I have to nice, sunny Delaware and come back to cold, gray Syracuse.  Not fun.  But I am only here for another semester as long as my grades hold up.  It’ll be close with Multimedia and I won’t be surprised if I fail or do really, really bad.  My other classes I should be doing fine in, but still, I need to get good grades in them so if I do do horrible in Multimedia, I can still have a decent GPA.

Gli interventi di riasfaltatura di tutto il tratto, permetteranno anche di effettuare il controllo dei giunti (le saldature che tengono insieme le lastre di asfalto) e le verifiche delle condizioni di sicurezza di tutta la struttura. Si tratta di accertamenti che vengono ripetuti periodicamente su un manufatto soggetto a forti sollecitazioni (il traffico in questo tratto è particolarmente intenso, con una predominanza di mezzi pesanti) e quindi a notevole usura. Inevitabili i disagi alla circolazione. “I cantieri – spiega Enrico Razzini, direttore operativo di Autovie Venete – saranno attivi 24 ore su 24, per effettuare l’intervento nel minor tempo possibile, ma i disagi alla circolazione saranno inevitabili. Durante i periodi di esecuzione dei lavori, il tratto autostradale interessato non potrà essere utilizzato per i trasporti eccezionali, né per il passaggio di automezzi con larghezza superiore ai tre metri in entrambe le direzioni di marcia.

Why do Roman women have this fixation or obsession with the letter, ‘a’? Does it have some religious significance of its own or what? Is it a totem of good fortune and prosperity? I am quite surprised that Historians had not stumbled across this fact earlier on. Maybe they have and have chosen to keep Mum over the whole issue. All the names of Female Aristocrats in the Roman society end with the letter ‘a’. Check out the names of the spouses of the Roman emperors from Augustus to Constantine, the Great. Here are a few samples.

Livia(Augustus),Julia(Tiberius),Caesonia(Caligula),Messalina(Claudius),Poppaea Sabina(Nero),Domitia(Domitian),Plotina(Trajanus),Faustina(Antoninus Pius),Faustina(Aurelius),Marcia(Commodus),Sabina(Hadrian),Julia(Septimius Severus),Severa(Philip),Cornelia Paula(Elagabalus)and Fausta(Constantine, the Great).

Roman society was Patriarchal in nature. It was chauvinistic and biased against women. They could not be educated and were barred from the arts of Law, Medicine, Philosophy and the Classics. There were no female versions of Virgil, Cicero, Pliny (Elder and Younger), Suetonius and Dio Cassius.They could not bear arms and were banned from serving in the Roman legions. They could not hold the administrative positions of Aedile or Duovir.and could not be admitted to the sacred and exclusive cult of Mithras.Bluntly Put, Roman women were second class citizens in the Empire.

However, Roman women were fiercely independent in words and actions. Within the family, women played an important role in childbearing and the management of the household. They controlled the purse stings and purchased goods for consumption by the family. They took loans when necessary to balance the accounts and budgets of the family.

They played the dual roles of managers and advisers to their husbands who were often away from home in defense of the empire and realm. Part of the duties included control over slaves who performed many domestic tasks Roman women were noted for their strength and loyalty, but also for their sexual freedom.

Although Adultery was punishable by death or exile, most chose to take the risk of discovery and ruin. Augustus’s daughter, Julia was extremely promiscuous and was renowned for her escapades at the forum. When she was asked how she managed to bear children that resembled her husbands, she replied; “I only take in passengers when the boat is full”. Octavian was so distraught about her wantonness; he seriously considered putting her to death because of the strict Julian Marriage laws in force at the time. He settled on exile, but she was later starved to death on the orders of her former husband, Tiberius.

Domitian (Dominus et Deus) murdered the actor, Paris because of his affair with his wife, Domitia.She was sent into exile on account of this.Septimius Severus turned a blind eye to the affairs of his wife, Julia.She committed incest with his successor and son, Caracalla.Hadrian’s wife, Sabina was to take for a lover, a slave in retaliation for her husband’s infatuation with the Greek boy, Antinous.

Roman women also had rights under the common and civil laws. They could not be bought or sold into slavery unless they had been convicted of a serious offence (like treason). They could own property. (Vespasian’s wife came into the marriage with a sizable dowry).They could divorce their husbands and could not be put to death without full recourse of the law.

Roman women were also Kingmakers. They pulled the puppet strings, advising their men folks on matters of the state. Until Nero had his mother, Agrippina stabbed to death; she held considerable sway and Nero had to seek her consent in making important appointments of state. The priestess, Acte controlled Nero and Suetonius in his biography, The Private Lives of the Twelve Caesars, describes her as an evil genius who had a deep hold over the emperor.

Hadrian became Emperor under the machinations of Plotina (Trajanus’s widow).She forged a will naming him as heir and successor to Trajan who had died on his way to Rome from his Parthian Campaign. She even went as far as getting an actor to mimic the feeble voice of her husband. The Roman senate accepted this deception and proclaimed Hadrian as emperor of Rome.

Under Elagabalus, Roman law was amended to give women entrance to Senate meetings and deliberations at the Capitol. This was a revolution for the times, unheard of and was at the instigation of the two Julias (Maesa and Domna).There was a return to the status quo after the assassination of Elagabalus by the Praetorian guards. When the Roman general, Avidius Cassius rose in rebellion against Marcus Aurelius, the emperor’s wife took matters into her hands and wrote a letter urging her husband to deal harshly with the insurgency.Faustina’s ploy worked.Avidius was declared an enemy of the state and put to death on the orders of the Roman senate.

Most of the gods that the Romans chose to worship had a female gender.Venus; Aphrodite, Isis, Earth and Minerva were eagerly sought by the Romans for protection and good luck. The night that Emperor Domitian (Dominus et Deus) was struck down by assassins, he dreamt that Minerva told him that she could no longer guard him because she had been disarmed by Jupiter.

The functions of worship were carried out by women. The priestesses of Isis (the goddess of fertility) were women. So also were the renowned Vestal virgins of Rome. The public processions across Rome were led by women priests. The emperor, Domitian (Dominus et Deus) added a new spice to gladiatorial fights at the Colosseum by admitting members of the fairer sex to participate.

Emperor Elagabalus was so enamored with the physiology of women that he sought a sex change and offered huge sums of money to any surgeon who could alter his appearance and give him female genitalia.His attempts came to naught.

The advent of the new religion of Christianity did not improve the lot of women in the empire.St Paul was to write in his letters to the Corinthians that Women were to keep silence and leave all matters to their husbands.

Even the ruin of Rome was predicated on the whims of a Princess who had been caught in the act of adultery with a page boy who was put to death. This infuriated the fiery princess who invited Attila the Hun to ravage Rome. He took her up on the offer.

Em 1986, o destaque foi Márcia Nishie, cantora de Mogi das Cruzes que conquistou o Grande Prêmio da Canção Japonesa no Brasil Gaikokujin Kayo Taisho e obteve o reconhecimento do maestro Inomata Kosho que se tornou o seu principal mestre no Japão (não só lhe deu aulas sobre canto, mas também fez diversas composições). Participou de programas de variedades de diversas emissoras e chegou a participar de uma novela que abordava sobre o mundo futebol e que teve algumas cenas gravadas no Brasil. No final de 1995 casou-se com o ator Otsuro Guitan que era justamente o protagonista dessa novela. [Fundação Japão]

La Marcia Mondiale per la Pace e la Nonviolenza è finalmente partita il 2 ottobre 2009, una data importante, la nascita di Ghandi, proclamata dall’ONU “Giornata internazionale della Nonviolenza”. Per la prima volta nella storia si è messa in moto una manifestazione da proporzioni notevoli grazie all’impegno di tante belle persone. Un’iniziativa nata dall’atto semplice di chi per coscienza aderisce a una causa degna e la condivide con altri: chiedere con forza la fine di tutte le guerre e di tutte le forme di violenza a favore di un mondo di pace e nonviolento.
La Marcia Mondiale passerà da Firenze l’11 novembre. Una Marcia simbolica che coinvolgerà migliaia di persone delle città, istituzioni, scuole ed associazioni della Regione Toscana.
Anche Campi Bisenzio vi aderisce in sostegno al diritto all’autodeterminazione del popolo Saharawi.

Of the assumption of the purple by Commodus, Dio Cassius wrote as follows; “Our history has descended from the kingdom of gold to one of iron and rust”. This view was corroborated by Edward Gibbon who wrote in his masterpiece on the Roman decline and fall that the period of happiness for the Roman Empire was from the death of Domitian to the accession of Commodus.The reign of Nerva, Trajan (Optimus Princeps) Hadrian, and the Antonine emperors have been described as golden times for the empire.

Emperor Commodus was a disaster and an accident of history. Even his legitimacy was subject to some speculation and gossip. His mother, Empress Faustina was in an unhappy relationship with the Emperor, Marcus Aurelius, There were rumors of a tryst with a gladiator in a Roman resort in the Mediterranean. The result was Commodus and his twin brother who never attained the age of majority. Born in AD 161, he acquired the greatest treasure a Man or Mortal could have. Emperor of Rome. But he chose to whittle away his inheritance by engaging in gladiatorial amusements in the Roman Colosseum to the derision of the Roman senators. When Commodus rose to the purple, he was immensely popular with the Roman Hoi-polloi. His coronation was a national holiday with free food, drinks and Passes to the Roman Colosseum distributed.

He saw himself as a reincarnation of Hercules and adopted the mannerisms of the Greek god. He wore animal skins and strolled around Rome armed with a club. In AD 190, he renamed all the months of the year to correspond with his titles and declared himself the new founder of Rome and the second coming of Romulus.

Rome was to be called Colonia Lucia Annia Commodiana (the City of Commodus) and the coming age was to referred to as the age of Commodus or the Universal day of the Earth. Commodus was unpopular with the Roman senators who disliked his penchant for gladiatorial combat and disrespect for Roman tradition. On his watch, more than a third of the Roman senators perished and according to the Roman Historian, Dio Cassius, he once showed the Roman senators the severed head of an ostrich to inform them of what fate lay in store for them.Commodus was a skilled marksman and could maim or kill a moving target from a distance.

The Senators were to have their revenge in death. They declared him Damnatio Memoriae and had monuments and decorations put up in his honor defaced or removed. The reign of Commodus exposed the antiquity of hereditary monarchy. A situation that had been avoided by Nerva (he sent away his closest relatives and adopted the Spanish general; Trajan, “Optimus Princeps” as his son and heir).Hadrian was to follow a similar pattern in adopting the First Antonine (Pius) as his successor. Subsequent Roman Emperors were to avoid the mistake of hereditary succession until the accession of Geta and Caracalla in 211AD to the throne after the demise of their father and Emperor, Septimius Severus in York

Marcus Aurelius had tried to instill in Commodus the philosophy of stoicism and self contemplation. His attempts were futile .Commodus preferred the bright lights of Rome, Wine and women and on a campaign against the Barbarians hastened back to Rome after hearing about the demise of the much revered Marcus, the Antonine Emperor. The Barbarians were left to their devices after negotiating a highly advantageous peace treaty with the new Emperor. Commodus was never to lead his troops in combat or war again.

He had a fraught relationship with his sister, Lucilla whom he accused of treason. He had her exiled and then murdered.

Weary of the Merrie Monarch and realizing that the destiny of Rome was in peril, the Roman senators moved quickly to remove the problem of Commodus.He was strangled in his bath by the athlete and gladiator, Narcissus with the connivance of his Christian Mistress, Marcia on December,31st 192. The son of a former slave and bondsman, Pertinax was made Emperor and Commodus was declared an enemy of the state.

History has been harsh on Commodus.He is viewed as the man on the watch when the Empire began to unravel. He acquired no new territories for Rome, built no architectural Masterpieces (unlike Trajanus Ulpius Marcus or Hadrian).He promoted his favorites and courtiers above others and encouraged lax behavior amongst the legions, although he was to increase their stipends and pensions. He bankrupted the Roman Treasury in the span of a few years on extravagant games and had to mint emergency coins to pay Roman officials. He raised taxes for the rich and poor alike to the consternation of all.

Unlike his Predecessor and Father, Marcus Aurelius, Commodus treated the Christians fairly and allowed freedom of worship (provided it was not in conflict with the state).He was to acquire a Christian lover who betrayed him to his enemies

The injuries inflicted on the empire by Commodus were irreparable. Corruption became the order of the day and Military discipline disappeared altogether.Pertinax was murdered by the Praetorian guards and the throne of Rome became an object to be auctioned off at will. It was only a matter of time before Roman civilization fell.

Previsioni  di traffico intenso, con rallentamenti e possibili code, per sabato 24 e domenica 25 ottobre sulla A4 in prossimità del casello di Villesse, dove si concentrerà il flusso di auto dirette verso il nuovo punto vendita Ikea appena aperto. Qualche rallentamento potrebbe verificarsi, sempre sulla A4, anche nel tratto Portogruaro Latisana (nei pressi del ponte sul Tagliamento), in direzione Venezia, dove sarà  attivato uno scambio di carreggiata. Il traffico, diretto verso Venezia, sarà deviato, nei due sensi di marcia, nella carreggiata opposta, cioè quella in direzione Trieste. Lungo la A57 tangenziale di Mestre,tra lo svincolo con la A27 e Quarto d’Altino, in entrambe le direzioni, proseguono i lavori per i la realizzazione delle barriere acustiche in comune di Marcon. Nel tratto interessato dai cantieri ci sarà la chiusura delle corsie di marcia ed emergenza dal lunedì al sabato e la riduzione della carreggiata durante i giorni festivi.

Diffondo l’ invito di Maurizio Martina, candidato alla Segreteria Regionale PD in Lombardia, a partecipare alla manifestazione di sabato 24. Una manifestazione per il lavoro più che mai necessaria in un momento in cui se ne sentono dire di tutti i colori a questo proposito, tanto per sollevare un po’ di polverone sensazionalistico approfittando di un disagio reale e profondo. Da Tremonti a Brunetta, da Berlusconi a Ichino, grande è la tentazione di attribuire l’attuale situazione di deregulation occupazionale a “fenomeni globali”. Ma se non è in grado di gestire e indirizzare un fenomeno globale, a cosa serve più lo Stato nazionale?

Si parla tanto di flessicurezza, e va bene. A me non dispiace il modello nordico e ammetto che non ho l’aspirazione di un solo posto fisso tutta la vita (che noia, fra l’altro). Ma in questa specifica congiuntura, bisogna tamponare le falle di un sistema tutto sbilanciato sulla flessibilità, che ora ha messo centinaia di migliaia di lavoratori in condizioni insostenibili. Quindi condivido appieno le motivazioni della manifestazione, ci andrò e spero che saremo tanti e belli arrabbiati.

Insomma, è ora di tornare ad alzare la voce e spezzare questa sorta di artificioso silenzio. Non solo precari e autonomi, ma anche piccoli imprenditori. Uniti possiamo fare tanto. A cominciare da piccoli messaggi simbolici. Noi, nel nostro appartamento milanese ( composto da 5 persone di cui forse una riesce davvero a guadagnarsi da vivere col proprio lavoro) abbiamo appeso sul balcone un bello striscione sulla dignità del lavoro. Perché l’Italia è, o dovrebbe essere, una Repubblica basata sul lavoro. Ora sembra di più una Repubblica basata sullo stage, sull’uso indiscriminato dei co.co.pro e di altre formule, sul precariato assurto a “necessità ineludibile” e sul diffuso sfruttamento. Dopo il danno, la beffa: vogliono convincerci che un sistema diverso è impossibile. Ma noi non crediamoci. E scendiamo in piazza una, dieci, cento volte. Torniamo a lottare come hanno saputo fare quelli prima di noi, perché un diritto non è mai conquistato definitivamente! Bisogna continuare a tenere la guardia alzata, non lo abbiamo fatto e il risultato è sotto gli occhi di tutti.

Ed ora, l’invito di Maurizio Martina.

Sabato pomeriggio, a Milano, saremo in tanti al fianco di Cgil, Cisl, Acli e Arci Lombardia per partecipare alla grande marcia per il lavoro.
Si tratta di un appuntamento importante perché mai come in questo periodo è necessario dare voce e spazio alle persone in carne ed ossa che vivono sulla propria pelle la dura crisi che stiamo attraversando. L’elenco delle situazioni difficili purtroppo aumenta ogni settimana e, a dispetto di chi pensa che il peggio sia alle nostre spalle, sono migliaia i lavoratori e le famiglie coinvolte. Non può certo sfuggire il fatto che da questa situazione il mondo del lavoro e quello dell’impresa lombarda ne usciranno profondamente cambiati.
Occorrono interventi rapidi e una svolta da parte delle istituzioni per sostenere la ripresa e tutelare i più deboli.
E’ necessario innanzitutto tornare a dare dignità al lavoro. Serve una riforma vera dei sistemi di protezione e nuovi strumenti universalistici in grado di rivolgersi ai tanti che, ancora oggi, non possono contare su tutele e garanzie.
Condividiamo le priorità indicate dai promotori della marcia per il lavoro: estensione degli ammortizzatori sociali; percorsi certi di riqualificazione e formazione; nuovi strumenti di ripartizione del lavoro per evitare i licenziamenti; rilancio della vocazione industriale lombarda; sostegno alle famiglie; inclusione dei lavoratori immigrati e modifica del patto di stabilità per sbloccare gli investimenti degli Enti Locali.
Su questi temi ci impegniamo a lavorare concretamente rilanciando innanzitutto il confronto con chi oggi governa la Regione Lombardia.
Per queste ragioni e con questo spirito partecipiamo convinti alla Marcia di sabato invitando tutti gli iscritti e i simpatizzanti del Partito Democratico a sfilare insieme a noi.

I first mentioned Sanne more than a year ago in a post about Susannah.  While Susannah is feminine and conjures up images of a pinafore-clad girl churning butter, Sanne is cosmopolitan, even sleek.  And yet both come to us via Shoshannah – a Biblical, Hebrew name meaning lily that might just stretch all the way back to Ancient Egypt.

There’s nothing throwback about Sanne.  While she’s never charted in the US Top 1000, she’s currently all the rage in the Netherlands, ranking #5 there in 2008, and even reaching the top spot #1 in recent years.

For an American audience, popular Dutch names range from the familiar (Sophie, Emma, Eva and Julia all feature in their Top Ten) to the surprising (Isa, Noa, Lieke, Lotte, Anouk and Maud are all current favorites, too).  While a few of these – Lieke seems like a real stretch – would not import well to the US, many of the others have cross-cultural appeal.

Let’s put Sanne in that second group.  The Dutch derived Sanne from Susanne, as a contracted form.  (Scandinavians did the same with Susanna and arrived at Sanna.)

But what if you’re not Dutch?  Let’s suppose you’ve never even been to Amsterdam.  Would Sanne work for you?

Maybe.  The ending -sana is common in plenty of languages.  There’s the Russian Oksana, the Nigerian Hasana, even the (probably) Persian Roxana.

On the map, you’ll find a hamlet in Northern Germany and a village in eastern Nepal both called Sanne.

If we think of Sanne as a twist on the diminutive Sue, there’s even a stronger case for her use.  As a stand-alone name, Sue charted in the US Top 100 from 1939 through 1950.  That’s more than 40,000 Sues born in the 1940s alone.

Notable Sannes are few, and almost entirely  European:

• Sanne Salmonsen was a Danish pop singer in the 80s;
• A handful of (mostly) Dutch athletes wear the name;
• The winner of Holland’s Next Top Model back in 2006 was Sanne Nijhof.  Fellow contestants included Marcia, Annika, Daisy and Charmayne.

While Sanne isn’t hard to say – SAH nuh, sort of like the Latina Ana with an S – the spelling could prove problematic.  If you’ve never seen this name before, it could be tempting to rhyme her with sane, or even just give her a one-syllable pronunciation – sand sans the final d, maybe.

But if you’re willing to work through those challenges, Sanne makes for an international import that could wear well on both sides of the Atlantic.
