Die spinnen die Texaner! Da hat tatsächlich so ‘n Freak das Haus der Simpsons 1 zu 1 in der Real World nachgebaut! Krank! Will nicht wissen was das gekostet hat. Und wohnen will ich da auch nicht – viel zu bunt! Ist aber bestimmt ne 1a-Touristenattraktion. Seht selbst!

Weather is very windy but otherwise nice. Rain in the area this morning but I saw none. When I looked to the east, it was so very cloudy and stormy looking. But looking to the west it was clear. And half and half to the south.

I took a road trip to Great Bend KS. My best friend Pete lives there with his 2 dogs. His mom is in an assisted living home there. I spent the day with both of them.  Nice to get away and to see them. We ate at the home. Eaten there many times and it has always been great food. But. OMG. Today just plain sucked. Hamburger patty on one half slice of wheat bread with gravy over it and peas. Well. The hamburger was half gristle. The gravy was not quite white but not really brown. Peas would good. It was someone’s birthday so we had a fabulous cake from Dillons.

On the way to Great Bend a house pulled in front of me. A HOUSE. It was as wide as the entire road. NO WAY to pass. I was stuck behind it going very slow for several miles. Finally got to a small town and the driver pulled over and we could pass.

When I am stressed, my palms start to itch and sometimes a couple of fingers. My one palm is now almost unbearable. If I do not leave it alone, it will then become an open sore. Yes, life it good. And it will only get worse and worse.

Forgot to mention this, but yesterday was Kajsa-Jo’s second birthday. How glad we area to have her. Here is a baby photo of her.

La fama es lo que tiene: se te puede subir a la cabeza ( o al moño, como en este caso) y , sin que te des cuenta, pasas de ser una ama de casa , normal, dedicada a tus tres hijos y a tu marido a protagonista de anuncios de cosmética, modelo para firmas de alta costura o portada de revistas…

Seguro que esta mujer, de 34 años , se hubiese reído a carcajadas, con esa voz ronca que la caracteriza, si le dices que iba a ser la “Chica del mes de Noviembre en la revista Playboy ( de los USA)” en el 2009.

A ella, como es un dibujo animado de color amarillo, le da igual si la hacen chica-conejito como si la ponen a publicitar acondicionadores de pelo.

A los lectores de Playboy, igual les ha hecho gracia esta original iniciativa o igual no, teniendo en cuenta que lo que esperan de este tipo de publicación es algo como lo de Noviembre del año pasado.

Pero lo que si que está claro que la dirección de la revista ha elegido una nueva senda marketiniana para atraer nuevos lectores e intentar salvarse de la crisis que está sufriendo el sector.El numero de ejemplares que venderán , se verá incrementado por el gran mercado de seguidores de The Simpson que querrán tener esta edición “histórica” con una Marge erótica y fuera de contexto. Además, celebran 20 años en antena!!

Es una buena campaña puntual y  les salvará el mes ( dependerá de lo que les haya costado “despelotar” a Matt Groening, creador de los dibujos) pero , viene Diciembre…de nuevo.

Al margen de la continuidad de este tipo de propuestas, como seguidora de la serie , me ha resultado curioso y divertido ver a la maternal Marge , tan, tan, sexy…

Aunque no me acostumbro a pensar en ella, como una conejita Playboy. ¿Qué dirán en Springfield?…

“Sometimes I think we’re the worst family in town.”

“Maybe we should move to a bigger community.”

“Dad, the sad truth is all families are like this.”

This short conversation among Homer, Marge, and Lisa Simpson is, in so much as the longest-running comedy series in television history has one, The Simpsons’ thesis statement. In fact, the episode from which it comes, “There’s No Disgrace Like Home,” is really the ideological start of the series: The Simpsons do everything possible in 22 minutes to distance themselves from television’s traditional family, exemplified by the Cleavers, Waltons, Bradys, and Cosbys—and represented in this episode by the family of an unnamed coworker.

In “There’s No Disgrace Like Home,” the Simpson family resorts to juvenile rebellion, parental inebriation, sycophantism, and mutual beatings with wooden two-by-fours. The episode concludes with the family bonding; it’s just that they form that bond via all the above and their consequent ability to overwhelm even Dr. Marvin Monroe’s psychoanalysis (“earning” double their money back in the process).

First, what public school lets a second-grader dress up in a bikini for its Christmas Show? (And what public school has a Christmas Show?) Second, the whole dance routine doesn’t strike me as very Lisa: Inquisitive and didactic herself, Lisa would be more about conveying actual information about “the Santa of the South Sea” than about putting on some ridiculous performance.

And so, The Simpsons hits the wrong note in establishing some of its characters—and not just side characters, who it also struggles mightily to provide depth for*—but absolutely critical characters in Homer and Lisa.** Contrast this with a show such as Arrested Development, in which almost every character’s first scene is representative of their role through the entire series.

*The only two well-drawn secondary characters in Season One are Jacques and Sideshow Bob. The former appears in subsequent episodes only in the background; the latter is the show’s best secondary character. No character gets funnier as you get smarter than Sideshow Bob.

**The first impressions of Marge and Bart—the latter being seen in the second half of the above video—are more appropriate.

All this discussion of characterization leads us to what is really the biggest issue with the first season of The Simpsons: Homer. For as much as America (and England, for that matter) dived into Bartmania at the turn of the decade, Homer is the main character of The Simpsons. He has to be; the series defines itself as a foil to other sitcoms in which fathers were the focus (that list from above). If you want to argue this point further, simply go back and look at how many episodes focus on Homer as opposed to the other characters: He pretty much doubles the output of anyone else.

But in Season One, Homer is the toughest Simpson to pin down. Most of the time, he’s the local boob that gives Marge a bowling ball for her birthday and celebrates Bart’s absence in France. Other times, though, he melodramatically considers suicide (and not only considers; I mean, he writes the note, grabs a rock, and trudges to the nearest bridge), he becomes a crusader for safety,* and he cares far too much about the image his family presents. And sure, Homer’s impulsiveness is a large part of who he is, but a lot of his character in Season One just doesn’t make sense.

*The episode in which these first two events—the suicide and the safety crusading—take place, “Homer’s Odyssey,” is the worst of the series. End of discussion.

The problems surrounding Homer’s characterization are a big reason why The Simpsons’ first season isn’t that funny. As Ralph Wiggum once quipped, “It’s funny, but not haha funny.” There’s not that many standout lines,* and most of the humor derives from things that are more amusing than hilarious. It’s also why the show gets funnier toward the end of the season, when Homer starts becoming the Homer we know and love. “Life on the Fast Lane” is the first great episode of The Simpsons and the only one from this season that contends for a spot in the series’ pantheon. But other late-season episodes, like “Krusty Gets Busted” and “Some Enchanted Evening,” hint at the promise of what’s to come later; The Simpsons did indeed hit the ground running in the second season (with pantheon contender “Bart Gets an F”) before commencing its peak run sometime in the third.

*Exceptions include pretty much anything Jacques says in “Life on the Fast Lane” and this brilliant report on Jebediah Springfield:

TV REPORTER: Along the way he met a ferocious bear and killed him with his bare hands—that’s “B-A-R-E” hands—although modern historians recently uncovered evidence that the bear, in fact, probably killed him.

Overall, this seems like a pretty condemnatory review of the first season of The Simpsons. And yet I still liked it; I still derived plenty of enjoyment out of these 13 episodes. I’m inclined to think it’s nostalgically driven: that the enjoyment comes from the now, from knowing how these characters and this show evolved into parts of my personal maturation and everyday existence. In that way, it’s a bit like going back to watch something like the 3-13 rookie year of Peyton Manning: It’s weird to see something that we’ve come to conceive as so reliable struggle. I doubt very much that, had I been the discriminating twentysomething I am now in the winter of 1989 when The Simpsons made its debut, I would have stuck with it long enough to see it through to its success. Of course, I am the discriminating twentysomething I am now because I saw The Simpsons at its best.

And from the perch of the present, it’s tempting to look at The Simpsons’ thesis on family dysfunction as the modern American equivalent of Tolstoy’s from Anna Karenina, that “[a]ll happy families resemble one another, but each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.” The universe of The Simpsons, much like that of Anna Karenina, is virtually absent of happy families; it is, in fact, dysfunction that unites us all. For the sad truth is that all families are like this.

The latest girl to shed her clothes for the Playboy magazine cover is none other than Marge Simpson. The November issue comes in celebration of the cartoon’s 20th anniversary. This coupled with the news that Chris Martin & Co are also set to appear in Springfield soon was all the inspiration I needed… Doh!

Ok to celebrate The Simpsons 20th year they are having a scavenger hunt on fox prime time. So far I got 4 out of 4 right wootie!

Era o que todos pensaram, logo que a notícia se espalhou pela internet no início do mês de outubro, revelando qual seria a capa de novembro da revista Playboy americana: Marge Simpson!

Pois bem, a revista saiu e veio a decepção dos primeiros que conferiram a edição: na verdade apenas algumas páginas
traziam a mãe mais charmosa dos desenhos, além da capa, que na verdade faz parte da edição comemorativa do aniversário de 20 anos de existência da bizarra família criada pelo cartunista Matt Groening.  Tem até uma “entrevista” com Marge.

Além da “versão animada” da capa há a versão “verdadeira”, com a romena Alina Puscau, que já foi modelo da Victoria’s Secret e Ralph Lauren. Ambas as versões trazem o sensual ensaio da modelo.

Quem estava na expectativa de uma edição a lá hentai se decepcionou mais ainda ao ver que a dona da cabeleira azul mais famosa do mundo posou apenas em roupas intímas, que pouco mostram além de uma sensualidade comportada, o que deixa dúvidas se realmente Marge é dona da maior cabeleira azul, pois qualquer vestígio abaixo da cintura, limitou-se às suas belas pernas, deixando os simpsomaníacos (e margemaníacos) mais uma vez só na imaginação… assim como ficamos só na imaginação até onde é o limite da cabeleira azul de MariMoon, já que ela pinta até as sobrancelhas… bom, mas isso é outra história que envolve as madeixas azuis de outra celebridade…

En el 2007 esta película fue un gran éxito y confirmó la popularidad mundial de la que gozan Los Simpson a pesar de tener ya 20 años de producir nuevos capítulos. No te pierdas esta divertida película en donde Homero tiene que salvar Springfield de un problema causado por el y su mascota: “El Puerco Araña”  jeje.

En un principio solo iba a ser una cortinilla previa a la publicidad, pero la Fox propuso convertir estas cortinillas en una serie con capítulos de 30 minutos. A partir de aquí, Los Simpsons se han convertido en una serie para niños, jóvenes y adultos, basada en la historia de una familia americana que vive en un pueblo ficticio llamado Springfield. Todos los capítulos de las serie están llenos de una carga de humor y caricatura de la sociedad americana, al igual que los personajes, que responden a un estereotipo crítico de los ciudadanos estadounidenses.

El padre de la familia Simpsons, Homer, es un alcohólico holgazán que trabaja en la Central Nuclear del pueblo, haciendo lo menos posible, y teniendo una formación más bien escasa en materia cultural, sin poder aportarles apenas ninguna experiencia beneficiosa a sus hijos. Marge, la madre, es una excelente ama de casa, orgullosa de ello, que se alza como la responsable de la familia, haciéndose cargo de la misma, pero con la carga de ser extremadamente correcta y maniática de la limpieza y la perfección. Bart, el hijo mayor de la familia, es un rebelde sin causa, que no da “palo al agua” en el colegio y sus travesuras traen de cabeza a medio pueblo. Lisa, la hija mediana, se enorgullece de ser una cerebrito que está por delante de todos en su clase del colegio, pero a la que le vencen sus ideas ecologistas y sus pretensiones morales frente a la vida. Por último, está Maggie, el bebé de la familia, siempre aferrada a su chupete y que parece la única persona “normal” de la familia, aunque no sea capaz de articular palabra.

Más allá de la familia protagonista, el autor creó una sociedad variada en la que tienen cabida inmigrantes, policías, médicos, intelectuales, humoristas, cineastas, políticos y demás personajes variados que representan los distintos sectores de la sociedad real, todos con su propia personalidad y creencias, siempre con una connotación crítica.

En Youtube se encuentra la nueva intro de la temporada 20, en HD, y para mí opinión mucho mejor que la antigua.

10. Summer of 4 Ft. 2

Usually I groan a little inside when I see a Lisa-centric episode come on, but the seventh season finale is definitely the best they have done with Lisa’s stories. As she explores who she is and the reason for her unpopularity, she makes friends at the lake and begins to realize that maybe its not about how you dress yourself up but more about how confidant you are in yourself. And even though it is Lisa’s story, Homer is also in top-notch comedic form, especially with his illegal fireworks.

9. Who Shot Mr. Burns? (part 1)

The Simpsons’ Take on the famous Dallas season ending cliffhanger saw Mr. Burns in the J.R. role with all of the town members as suspects in the shooting. This episode sets up a wonderful atmosphere of foreboding with many classic moments as each of the characters explores their dark sides. The first part of the only two-part episodes in Simpsons history left us guessing all summer, and even now that we know, the episode is still one of the best there is.

8. Homer Vs. The 18th Amendment

Homer as the beer baron, Rex Banner, Moe’s pet shop, this episode has tons of great gags. Homer fighting against prohibition provides some great entertainment, including one of The Simpsons’ most heavily quoted lines; “To Alcohol! The cause of, and solution to, all of life’s problems.”

7. Homer’s Barbershop Quartet

Ah, the B Sharps. This hilarious look into Homer’s past as a barbershop superstar is one of the best episodes the show has come up with for sure. Gearge Harrison has a great cameo, back when cameos actually meant something and flowed naturally with the story, unlike now when they are just there to showcase whatever celebrity needs attention at the moment.
This episode is full of great moments from beginning to end, and let’s face it; “Baby on Board” is catchy.

6. Homer at the Bat

Homer finally gains respect at the slugger on the power plant’s softball team, until Daryl Strawberry comes along. This episode really had it all; funny guest star cameos, great gags, movie parodies, and of course that incredibly catchy theme song during the end credits. This was one of the Simpsons’ best as it came into its prime.

5. Rosebud

The Simpsons’ take on Citizen Kane has Mr. Burns pining away for his long-lost teddy bear Bobo, which falls in the arms of Maggie Simpson. Now Homer must decide between rewards and riches and the happiness of his daughter. Rosebud is a great example of when the show’s storytelling and writing was the best in the business. And this one can tug at the heart-strings as well.

4. Cape Feare

Sideshow Bob episodes were like that special dessert when you were a kid that you were only allowed to have every once in a while but couldn’t wait until the next time. And Cape Feare was the best of the lot. Cape Feare was able to set up a ton of laughs in a great brooding atmosphere. And who could forget such gags as the “Hello Mr. Thompson” bit and Homer’s hockey mask and chain saw.

And the rakes. Ahhhhhh, the rakes.

3. Flaming Moe’s

What Flaming Moe’s does is it sets up a tone and atmosphere in the episode which is almost unique. Moe’s tavern has suddenly become the hip place to be, with Aerosmith playing almost every night and resembling the lifestyle of Cheers. A solid episode from beginning to end, one of the best the Simpsons has to offer.

2. Marge vs. The Monorail

Sometimes the Simpsons manages to reach heights of pure comedic genius, as the did with the story of how Springfield tried to rejuvenate their city with a monorail doomed for disaster. Everything that makes The Simpsons great is present in this episode, hilarious gags, great storytelling, guest stars (Nimoy and Hartman), satire, a comical musical number, and so on. One of the greatest 30 minutes television has to offer.

1. Last Exit to Springfield

When Homer leads a strike at the power plant in order to win a dental plan, he manages to fool Mr. Burns into believing he is one of the greatest minds he’s ever met. We, of course, no different. Even Matt Groening himself has acknowledged Last Exit to Springfield as the best Simpsons episode. It has been called “flawless” and “the funniest half-hour in TV history” and is even studied in sociology classes at Berkeley. This is the episode which proves just ho great The Simpsons truly is.

Today I drove home from work. I stopped at a stop sign and at a red light. I got home without hurting anyone. It was great.

Em comemoração aos 20 anos de Simpsons, em uma parceria entre Matt Groening, criador dos Simpsons, e Hugh Henfer, criador da Playboy, sai uma edição especial da mesma com a Marge Simpson posando nua. A revista vai trazer entrevista, ficha completa, e sob o título “O Diabo em Marge Simpson”, temos muito o que esperar não é mesmo? Segundo Hugh, ele foi um fã de Simpsons desde o começo, até aparecendo em um dos episódios. Aqui seguem algumas fotos (não, nada de pornografia, entrou no site errado meu amigo!):
