It was business as usual for Project Runway this week – even though the challenged called for anything but the norm.

Designers were asked to create an on-stage look for a certain chart-topping pop singer that would have that same “wow-factor” from the 200th row that it did from the front of the stage.

And who better to help the young designers make a statement than King of Show Bob Mackie? In fashion, Mackie means tacky, complete with headdresses, sequins and feathers – and that’s just one outfit.

Designers immediately saw the need to go big, so the trip to fabric store Mood included pounds of feathers, faux fur and sparkly fabric.

Back in the workroom, the designers resorted to their usual antics. Heartthrob Logan, who has never been in the top three this season, and sweet blonde Carol Hannah continued their flirtation, which has seen a healthy bit of screen time in what could be Project Runway’s first designer hook-up.

Two-time challenge winner Irina continued to insult everyone around her, while equally catty Nicolas gushed over the guest judge and Christopher, the show’s only self-trained designer, worried about his lack of experience. Just like every other episode of the season.

Instead of letting go and enjoying the freedom to be over the top, the designers continued to play it safe, offering their own styles in sparkly form. Bubbly Shirin, fashion guru and designer confidant Tim Gunn’s early favorite, continued to borrow from “1940s glamour.” Eastern European Gordana, the oldest of the designers and lucky holder of immunity from last week’s challenge, again fell into the realm of “matronly.” Neither genre is Mackie’s forte.

Had the designers been as creative as previous seasons’ designers, like last year’s drag queen-of-costume Chris, the challenge may have been a little more fun to watch.

Instead, Mackie’s showstopper request turned into a gallery of half-finished ice skating uniforms and long, cumbersome dresses, as the judgingpanel so lovingly pointed out.

Gunn proved yet again he is the reason to watch the show, counseling one designer to amp it up by suggesting the outfit should scream “super sexy slut!” Spoiler: it didn’t.

Even supermodel host Heidi Klum couldn’t bring herself to be all there for this episode, showing up to name the challenge in painful red pleather, animal-print low rise pants. When she came back for judging, she didn’t even look like she had brushed her hair that morning.

In the best reveal of the show, the judging panel finally included Queen of Mean Nina Garcia, the Marie Claire fashion director and judge since season one, who has been missing most of this season.

The panel had little to work with in what should have been a tacky-fest a la last season’s World Wresting Entertainment challenge. Yet again the judges seemed to make strange decisions on who passed, who failed and who won. Past wins didn’t seem to matter when it came down to it, and a designer with more promise heard Klum’s auf wiedersehen instead of less-talented designers who have made themselves irresistible to the camera.

It was another mildly entertaining episode from a lackluster fifth season for the fashion reality show, which only promises to get harder to watch as any designer unable to create his or herunique storyline falls under Heidi’s “Auf.”

Project Runway airs on the Lifetime Network Thursdays at 10/9c.

I’ve now come to realize that Sundays are good for 3 things (esp. when its raining):

Tidying your room

Playing guitar

Reading books/magazines

Its what I do every Sunday. There should be a forth option entitled ‘Catching up on homework” but tbh, I rarely do that so there’s no point in putting it on there. Sundays are a day of rest, and I thoroughly agree with that. I’m currently learning to play Never Think by Rob Pattinson on guitar. His voice is a little weird, but I enjoy the lyrics.

I got no fight in me in this whole damn world to tell you to hold off, you choose to hold on. Its one thing that I’ve known. Once I put my coat on, and I’m coming out of this all wrong. She’s standing outside holding me, saying “oh please, I’m in love…I’m in love”

amazing song. I’ve got the chords all figured out, but the way he strums it is so messy and awkward that I’m either going to a) give up or b) play it my own way. Option B sounds awesome tbh. The intro is also 1.15 long. It gives me something to occupy my time.

Back onto the 3 things to keep me busy me on a Sunday, I’ve tidied my room yesterday since yesterday (Saturday) was a bit of a Sunday. If that makes any sense? So my room is spotless, for once. By Tuesday, it’ll be a mess again. Honestly, I’m such a slob. I found an old bit of pizza in my room, god knows how long its been there. And I picked up 8 Diet Coke cans off the floor. I’m disgusting. And yesterday I also caught up on my magazines, I have subscriptions to Glamour, Cosmopolitan and Marie Claire (OK, I admit, I only bought subscriptions for the free gifts so shoot me) and they come via post and I just let them sit there for a while. My Marie Claire comes out on 1st December, and I decided to read it on 28th November.

So all in all, I literally have nothing to do today. Play guitar? Check. Doing that right now. May read a bit of my book. Need to wash hair, its disgustingly greasy. At some point, I’ll give myself a manicure/pedicure. Shall I do some work? Eh…no. I clearly have far better things to be doing.

4minute girls will get their MSC too

The following message have been posted and reposted on several 4minute’s fansites (I haven’t found the source yet, but I have the strong feeling that the author is the girls’ manager)

돌아왔죠

Before, I was wondering whether or not to upload this as a behind the scene footage.
But I have decided to do this way
It starts on December 2nd.
There will be an upload every week
I don’t know when it will end. Well, as long as it goes?!

On 4minute’s homepage, I’ll start to upload manager selcas
The first [to be uploaded] will be a video of the filming of 4minute’s new digital single’s music video.

Lulu boong boong.

I keep my promises.
Once every week, I will come to upload this for you.

After their male counterpart, BEAST, 4minute is getting its Manager Self Cameras (MSC) starting from December 2nd. The videos will be uploaded on the group’s official homepage. This message also confirms that a digital single will be released and that even a MV will be shot. It only remains to know what kind of song it will be. After questioning about Mario’s would-be contribution in the track, the creative netizens now think that the single will be a Xmas song.

The holiday season is here and it might make you feel joy, stress or fear.

It could bring up family struggles and romantic relationship issues. You may feel bad about your unmet goals and think about what you want but don’t have now.

Your ego (your mind and awareness) tells you stories about your past and based on your interpretations of your past, you doubt yourself and worry about your future.

“What if I never have….?”

90% of our thinking is negative and we spend way too much energy thinking about what we don’t have.

Shift your thoughts to a positive perspective and be thankful for what you have in the present moment.

When you focus on what you have, you instruct the brain to look for information, resources and opportunities to be thankful now. Then, your mind will see more evidence of that every day, and you’ll find yourself having more to appreciate, satisfaction in relationships, and self growth.

Here’s a quote on gratitude by author, Melody Beattie: “Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity. It turns problems into gifts, failures into success, the unexpected into perfect timing, and mistakes into important events. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow.”

You have the power to perceive the way in which you view the world. It’s time to change your attitude to gratitude.

Write down 3 specific things you are grateful for and e-mail it to me.

Give thanks and have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Every high-street brand is following the revolution of the sequin that is rocking at the moment.

From Primark to Gucci and Louis Vuitton, stores are shining with the new collections.

Marie Claire proposed on its December issue glamorous articles such as a £2,120 sequinned silk tulle dress from Emilio Pucci; a £2,360 beaded silk georgette top from Gucci; a £2,370 sequinned silk tuelle dress from Moschino.

With the message “Let It Shine”, Marie Claire makes chic high-streets simply shine.

On the other hand, Vogue proposed on its December issue bright sparks of gold sequins in a classy Louis Vuitton pair of shoes.

Moreover, Bazaar magazine tells how embellished pieces makes this collection bejewelled and metallic. Proposing them not only as a look for evenings, but for fabulous days with a bit of distressed denim or a worn-in leather jacket.

At the same time, gives some affordable options for those who want to join this new metallic era, such as a £150 sequin dress; a £165 sequin flapper dress; and a £60 sequin top.

In addition, Georgia Jagger was destined to grace Vogue’s pages with her sequin looks that hit the fashion industry, becoming fashion’s new bombshell.

Sequin is sparkle anytime!

I am in a very good mood today especially because I just found out that I passed the board exam. How

I am in a very good mood today especially because I just found out that I passed the board exam. However, this blog will not be about that instead I will write on something I love to do when I am in a happy mood and that is to beautify myself.

I have always known that whatever you feel the moment you wake up affects your overall mood for the day. This will consequently have an effect on the things that you do, the people you deal with and generally your output for the day. Therefore, it is important that we have happy thoughts to start with to be able to share good vibes with other people as well.

That is why I am sharing Marie Claire’s beauty tips. I especially like their tips because they are not over-the-top and you can actually readily apply their advice. Some of the items they promote are also available in the Philippines. Girls, we don’t have to go out of our way, order abroad or scout online and pay ridiculous shipping fees just because we want to have that must-have-item. Take for example, the tinted moisturizer which I have been using for the past few months to replace my foundation. It is super lightweight, does not clog my pores, and has multi-tasks (moisturizer, sunscreen, foundation, concealer) which is perfect for Ms. busygurl like me.

I will post the list in four parts as there are 51 items in the original list. I have to admit I removed some items (especially those about tanning) because I do not promote that and besides we Filipinas like fairer skin (that’s why glutathione’s are selling like hotcakes here).

Without further ado, here is the first ten Marie Claire beauty advice:

1. Surprise! Concealer is only half the battle when it comes to fixing flaws. To perfect your complexion (no matter what your skin tone), try lipstick in a warm pink. “It distracts people’s eyes from blemishes and other imperfections,” says makeup artist Morgan Schick.

2. Overzealous tweezing can lead to emaciated brows and bald patches, where hair only grows back irregularly. Use a protein-spiked brow gel to stimulate healthy growth and brow fillers to shade in problem areas

3. Sure, it’s chilly in your bathroom in the morning, but don’t be tempted to crank up the heat in the shower. Hot water followed by cool, dry air leads to rough skin. To lock in moisture post-shower, pat – don’t rub – yourself dry, and coat skin in a thick alpha-hydroxy lotion.

4. For flawless skin choose a cleanser and moisturizer appropriate for your skin type that you can use A.M. and P.M., and then supplement it weekly with a purifying face mask. You should also consider using a nightly skin treatment that exfoliates dead skin cells

5. Trying to look well-rested when you aren’t? Avoid piling on the foundation. Use a tinted moisturizer instead, followed by a beige eye pencil – it counteracts any redness around your eyes

6. Large pores are caused by two things: genetics and age. Want to shrink them? Go to a dermatologist or a spa to get microdermabrasion treatments, a type of facial that gently sloughs off the dead surface layer of skin.

7. To accentuate your upper lashline without creating overly spidery fringe, apply a strip of false lashes meant for your lower lashes from corner to corner. They’re shorter than traditional falsies, so they’ll thicken your lashline without elongating it too much.

8. Keep your eyes open when applying liquid liner – otherwise your line will look uneven. Apply by drawing three dashes, one on the corner, one in the middle, and one on the inside corner of your eye. Then go back and connect the dashes for a smooth line

9. For full lips go for a glossy look. Try first outlining the perimeter of your lips using a concealer brush dipped in bronzer two shades deeper than your skin tone. Then, top pout with gold, peach, or coral gloss.

10. “To make the waist look narrower, use a white pencil liner to dot an egg shape on each side, starting below the rib cage. Fill in just this area with a self-tanner one shade darker than your natural skin and blend,” says Cindy Barshop, owner of Completely Bare spas.

Watch out for more!!!

I want to be a man. If only so I can feel good about myself when reading magazines. I’m a smart,

I want to be a man. If only so I can feel good about myself when reading magazines.

I’m a smart, confident woman. I subscribe to the Atlantic Monthly and Vanity Fair so I can stay abreast of liberal politics and sit in my “garden-level” apartment pretending to be an elitist, East Coast blueblood. Lately though, I’ve been keeping up with women’s magazines for blog ideas. And I gotta tell you, reading them makes you feel like dog doo.

First are all those supermodels and actresses with their awesomely toned bodies, shiny hair and perfect skin. Their photos are surrounded by tips on how we can achieve the look as if none of us have jobs or families to attend to. Did you know Jennifer Aniston had two rice cakes and a teaspoon of peanut butter for breakfast? When she wants to splurge, she eats bread. Wild woman.

Women have been kvetching about the impossible beauty standards set by ladies’ mags for ages. But to me, the articles are the killers. In the past month alone, I’ve found out my hair is unsexy (because it’s curly), stress may cause infertility and men’s midlife crises now start at thirty-five. I read an advice column that screamed, “Help! My Internet Boyfriend’s a Bisexual Cross Dresser” and another offering, “5 Signs You’re a Bad Co-Worker.” And I thoroughly enjoyed reading the masterpiece, “Why I Stole My Best Friend’s Guy.” As if skyrocketing unemployment and endless wars aren’t scary enough. Now we have to fear our best gals mackin’ on our dudes.

‘Course, in these mags, men are a bunch of selfish, untrustworthy hound dogs who either game-play their way into women’s undies or must be manipulated into relationships. “Make Him Stay” and “Why Men Cheat” are constant titles, while the slew of articles meant to guide women through human relationships could be summed up by the headline, “Ten Things Women Do to Screw Up Their Relationships (and, basically, their lives…idiots).”

The best article this week was a stunning piece of investigative journalism entitled, “Did You Know Your Vagina Can Fall Out of Your Body?” Must be one of those secrets the medical industry keeps from us. I can only imagine the conversations that’ll now take place across the nation: “You hear about Gwendolyn? She was running to catch a bus and her vagina just popped right on out!”

Ladies, we’re doomed. If you believe women’s magazines, we’re all a bunch of horribly unfit, unlikable, deathly ill losers who no one will ever love. And we can’t trust anyone. Not men, not our friends and certainly not ourselves.

Keeping oneself centered in the midst of life’s challenges is quite a feat, though usually I stay fairly balanced. But now I find myself asking, “why don’t I look like an oiled-up Eva Mendes in my Calvin Klein skivvies? Will the sunflower seeds I eat be linked to a healthier heart or leprosy? And who really cares if stress causes sterility if your vagina’s gonna fall out anyway?”

Ah, but men’s magazines. What beacons of hope! What tidings they bring of reassurance and good cheer!

There’s Maxim, an orgiastic handbook of gadgets, cars, sports and half-naked starlets. Maxim is like a guy’s frat brother urging him to have another beer (it won’t kill you), and offering tips on how to sneak out of the house or get his girl to shave everything “down there.”

Then there’s Esquire. I enjoy this one because their well-written articles treat readers as if they might have brains. Tailored suits, expensive watches, fancy cars, high-end scotch and disrobing A-list actresses – Esquire’s world of men rocks. No matter how chubby, boring or unsuccessful a guy is, reading it will make him believe he’s awesome. They present cover boys like Matt Damon and Bill Clinton as buddies, and offer comforting words for men’s failings. Romantic ineptitude, professional failure, erectile dysfunction – no worries, Esquire’s got your back.

Reading the October issue, “The Feel Good Issue,” left me positively glowing. Even before you open the darn thing, they’re already throwing roses at your feet. The headlines on the cover offered readers the “Sexiest Woman Alive,” “Encouraging Words from President Clinton” and finished off with a “You Look Great, By the Way.” Sure beats Shape’s, “Scary Truth about Germs.”

Inside was a “Box of Permanent Joy,” which included ‘70s sitcoms and Mahler symphonies. There was “A Guide to – and Celebration of – the Ablutions, Unguents, and Bathroom Rituals that Make Us Men.” Wow, even their grooming practices are worth celebrating.

Really, I love being a woman. Though I love peeking into the world of men, I prefer taking on life as a female. I only wish my magazines liked me as much as I like myself.

Ahhh shoot me and do it NOW!

Socorro.

A entrevista é tragicômica e você pode lê-la aqui:
