In 1997 sau 1998 pe langa pungile cu dulciuri, de Craciun si-a facut aparitia si o consola de joc. Nu o am la indemana acum sa vad exact ce e, dar jocurile pe care le-am jucat par a fi facute pentru NES (Nintendo Entertainment System). Nu stiu daca sunt eu de vina sau industria jocurilor, insa jocurile din ziua de azi nu ma pasioneaza la fel de mult. Nu prea e buna comparatia de jocuri de consola cu cele de pc, dar si cele vechi de pc ma pasionau mai mult decat astea actuale.

Incep, normal, cu inceputul adica cu ce aveam pe caseta inclusa in pachet. Primul pe care l-am bagat a fost Super Mario Bros. Asta cred ca e destul de cunoscut. Eram in special fascinat de zonele in care bulburuceam pe sub apa si de coloana sonora din zona 4 a fiecarui nivel:

Daca tot sunt la capitolul Mario, pe aceasi caseta exista si Dr. Mario. Asta facea cat 1000 de tetrisuri. Am bagat la greu si singur si contra altcuiva. Jocul asta a adus multa ura in familie , coborari de sfinti, pule-n maturi, etc. etc. Am fost innebunit dupa el.

Un alt joc care se preta a fi jucat in doi a fost Mario Bros. Asta mi s-a parut greu, in special cand ajungeam la nivelurile alea cu gheata. De fapt venea un sloi de gheata care ingheta treburile pe-acolo.

In final mai adaug doua jocuri, jocuri in care impuscam, Duck Hunt si Wild Gunman. La Duck Hunt imi aduc aminte ca uram cainele ala. Mereu radea de mine muistu’ cand nu nimeream ratele. Mi-ar fi placut sa-i fut niste alice in numele tatalui, ca in clipul urmator. Mori, javra!

Duck Hunt mai avea o versiune in care trebuia sa impusc farfurii de alea zburatoare. Nu m-am omorat dupa ea.

In Wild Gunman impuscam cacanari din vestul salbatic. Ii rupeam pe fraieri. Trebuie remarcata muzica de suspans

Cam atat de pe caseta asta. Dupa ce am cam terminat jocurile, nu toate, a trebuit sa mai iau si alte casete. De pe piata de la rusi. Dar despre ele intr-un post viitor.

Around a dozen new titles are flooding the market on Friday, as the video game industry prepares itself for the Christmas shopping period.

With the big day only around five weeks away, many of the industry’s biggest hitters see this week as the perfect opportunity to release their flagship games.

Top of the pile is New Super Mario Bros Wii.

Nintendo’s first 2-D Mario game on a home console since 1992 is a safe bet to top the sales charts come Christmas Day.

Meanwhile, for the sport fans out there, the Wii versions of Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 and Formula 1 2009 are also available from today.

But if Nintendo isn’t your thing, or you’re looking for something with a little more action, don’t worry.

Xbox 360 owners can at last get their hands on Valve’s long awaited first-person-shooter, Left 4 Dead 2 – exclusive to Microsoft’s system.

Another much anticipated sequel, Assassin’s Creed 2 from Ubisoft Montreal, is also available to pick up from today, on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.

Also among today’s pile of releases on PS3 and 360 are Lego Indiana Jones 2, Dragon Age: Origins and Konami’s video game adaptation of the Saw movie franchise.

For those who prefer to do their gaming on the move however, today sees the unveiling of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky for Nintendo DS.

What will be in his stocking come the 25th?

But which game will prevail as the Christmas number one?

A spokesperson for the high-street retailer, Game, said: “So far we’re selling more copies of Assassin’s Creed 2 and Left 4 Dead 2 than the new Mario game.

“We had a lot of pre-orders for Left 4 Dead 2 and expect it to sell a lot over the next couple of weeks.

“Although we’ve sold a decent number for Lego Indiana Jones, we currently sell it as part of a console bundle, so it’s hard to tell if people are only buying it because it’s part of an offer.”

Great plot: check. Great characters: check. Great music: check. Great enemies: check. Great video game movies:………. hello? It should be a straightforward conversion, but decades on and gamers still await the arrival of a decent film adaptation. What gives? If you haven’t heard of superstar DJ Jaguar Skills yet, chances are he’s already heard of you and he’s standing silently behind you as you read this, katana ready to strike. Not only is this guys a DJ, he’s also a self-proclaimed ninja, never taking his mask off at live shows and never giving interviews. Mysterious.

Anyway, the guy is a rising legend in the UK, known for his huge mixtapes and wicked sense of humour. Back in the summer he performed a live two hour video game mixtape for the BBC that is a crazy mash-up of classic video game music and the best that dance, rock and hip hop has to offer. In a word – ‘Brilliant!’

Out of the two hour set, expect to hear musical cameos from Alex Kidd, Mortal Kombat, Mario Bros, Street Fighter II, Parappa the Rapper, Rally X, complete with radio skits from the Grand Theft Auto series, a guitar hero tribute section and 8-bit remixes of hit rap songs from Jay-Z, Ludacris and Kanye West.

Admittedly, this is old news for gamers in the UK, but as I was listening to this while writing my Assassin’s Creed II review (check back on Friday for the full review!) I though I’d share it with gamers coming to this blog from outside the country.

I figure it’s about time that I drop this bomb. Ed Zipco and I have been working hand-in-hand on creating the new incarnation of Chief Magazine. Since we’re retaining much of the same tone and subject matter, we’ve likened it to the upgrade in Mario Bros games. We’re calling our new creation SUPERCHIEF.

I will be working hard on blogging there, with some crossover here, some original content here or there. My interns will be posting more often on here I hope, keeping this THE PUNKEST BLOG IN THE WORLD!

Este primero, que en mi impresión es demasiado metal para que se distinga la música original es del grupo Nylithia.

Este en mi opinión es mucho mejor, pero menos metal, y no sé de quien es el tema.

Boss: “We need people to be able to save, but only temporarily, unless they beat stuff.”

Employee: “So, like a save file that really doesn’t save?”

Boss: “Yes! and if you continue from that save it deletes it and then they lose progress unless they temporarily save again. That’ll teach them to quit before castles.”

One of the first strange things I encountered while playing, *deep breath*, new super mario Bros. Wii (from this point forward I will refer to it as SMBW) is the saving. Most games that I’m familiar with have a function in which you save things to come back to. We’ve pretty much come to a standard way of doing this in 2009. In SMBW, it seems they created a new type of save game feature, a temporary save. What is the benefit of a temp save? you got me. I had to look up how to save in the game – which I would think at this point I would know pretty well how to save a game.

When you’re on the map screen, you hit the “+” button to bring up the main menu (the one in the photo above). You’re presented with a few options, one of which is “quick save”. If you click “quick save”, it lets you know that you can only use this save once when you continue and then after that it’s no more. OK. If you click “Title Screen” – it takes you to the title, except it tells you that you will lose any unsaved progress. Great. So where is the real save!?

The only way to “real” save is beat either a mini-castle (fortress) or main castle in the game. Afterward, when you exit the castle, the game will ask you to save. Why in the world did they not just let you save on the map? if you click “quick save” and then come back and continue and then hit “title Screen” – you lose anything you didn’t do unless you recently beat one of the castles. Unless of course you picked “quick save” in which it will take you to the title screen anyway. So wouldn’t you always do quick save then if you don’t want to lose what you already did?

I’ve never seen a game make saving quite so confusing and unusual. The fact that they have you save, which can only be used once, yet have a “real save” if you beat something just seems… dumb. Let me save anywhere and I will come back and play. Oh Nintendo… You’re always trying to be different.

I try to manage my games to where I don’t have too many going at once, but somehow that never works out exactly like I think it will. Here are the games right now I’m actively playing:

Dragon Age
This game is amazing and is pretty much consuming all my gaming time. It’s a huge, huge game. It’s incredibly fun and rewarding and you just want to keep going and going. It’s hard to find a good spot to save and stop, as the most minor quests seem to be hours long. So far, according to Steam, I’ve logged about 35 hours with it so far.  You’ll see more posts about this game for sure.

GTA4: Stories from Liberty City
I picked this game up a few weeks ago and I haven’t given it the proper attention it deserves. I hadn’t downloaded the first downloadable content pack for the game – so when I heard that they were going to release both packs on one disc, I thought it would be time to get it. I’m going to start with Lost and the Damned and move on to the ballad of gay Tony once I finish. I don’t know the length, but I don’t think they’re too long. Once Dragon Age lets it’s claws out of me for a little while I’ll get back to this one.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii
The fine folks at Gamefly sent this to me the other day and I was generally surprised how fun it is. If you’ve ever played a mario game in your life you know what you’re getting in to, but they did manage to make things a little differently. The graphics look pretty decent on the Wii – though it’s no HD gaming experience. Giantbomb did a great quick look on the game – and it pretty much sums up how much fun it is AND how crazy it gets when you play with others. I played with my wife and before long most of the conversation was: “Hey! watch it”, “Stop throwing me”, “aww, you let me fall in the lava”, “don’t jump on… oh c’mon now”. You’ll need patience to play with friends and family.

Die Wii-Konsole hat Nintendo wieder zurück auf die Sonnenseite des Lebens geführt. Warum also nicht auch eines der größten alten Game-Erfolge wiederbeleben? Gesagt, getan: Mario, der Klempner, rettet in “New Super Mario Bros.” (das gab es schon für PC, Xbox, PS) wieder entführte Prinzessinnen.
Bei Grafik und Gameplay haben die Japaner keine Experimente gewagt. Ergo, man fühlt sich als Nintendo-Veteran (schuldig! Donkey Kong 1980) gleich heimisch. Wer sich in Single- oder Multiplayer-Modus etwas tiefer hineinwagt in die bunten Levels, wird von der Magie dieses Spiels angesteckt und den reichhaltigen Ideen der Programmierer eingesogen. Das Design ist wii gewohnt erste Sahne, von Frust bleibt der Spieler weitgehend verschont.
Natürlich gelang es den Nintendo-Mannen, ihre Wiimote entsprechend in Szene zu setzen. Was bei den Versionen für PC, Xbox 360 und PS3 fehlt, sind Marios elegante Vorwärtsrollen durch passende Wiimote-Schüttler. Auch das Item-Einsammeln oder das Scrollen der Plattform werden plötzlich zu einer flüssigen, natürlichen Bewegung. An der Wii funktioniert es einfach besser, zumal die Entwickler sich die Mühe gaben, dem Titel mehr Komplexität und Gimmicks (Flugeinlagen mit Propeller-Anzug, Einfrieren von Gegnern, schwimmen, selbstgebaute Eisblöcke, die Stufen bilden oder Wurfmaterial) zu gönnen.
Wer Jump-and-run mag, wird bei diesem 50-Öcken-Titel leicht süchtig. Wie früher schon. Mario, well done und willkommen zurück. [Ralf]

Yesterday was the release of the greatly anticipated New Super Mario Bros. for Wii; the first real new 2D platformer for a Nintendo home console since the SNES (Super Nintendo). How did Nintendo celebrate despite the rain? In Mario style. Nintendo pimped out their Nintendo World store in Rockefeller Center in New York City and got the party rolling.

There was a Nintendo Museum set up outside the store with a variety of Mario memorabilia. Acting real smooth, wielding my 35mm film Canon and my Nikon D40 around my neck, I tried to slip in with some press heads, but no dice, the security guard asked me if I had a press pass, and I was turned away. He did offer to let me go into another smaller section, but I refused (tight on time).

The entire store was decked out in Mario and friends ornaments. Outside of the store, there was a queue set up outside just for people to wait to PAY for the game. Five people were allowed in at a time, and once inside, continued to wait some more before reaching the cashier.

Inside was similar story of chaos; one mixed with nerd and geek sweat that made the trip a rather quick one. Children littered the first floor hunched over DSi stations. Parents watched protectively as their tots experienced Mario perhaps for their first times. A Mario mascot was even on hand to take pictures with anyone willing (I admit, I had my photo taken, the Nintendo staff obviously has never handled a DSLR before – the picture came out blurry).

Upstairs was where it all was. Wii stations everywhere, teenagers and adults packed together like a rush hour subway car. It was hard to get around. Everyone was having a lot of fun meeting fellow gamers, racing Mario Kart DS and waiting in line to try the New Super Mario Bros. Wii. I didn’t stick around to demo the game – I will most likely purchase it when I find it cheaper online someday.

Para promocionar el lanzamiento de New Super Mario Bros para Wii, en  la Nintendo World Store de New York, se montó un museo que repasa algunas piezas de merchandising de una de las más fructíferas y antiguas sagas de videojuegos. El personaje que hizo rico a unos cuantos y feliz a la mayoría, tiene su meca en este espacio dedicado al recuerdo de algunos de sus elementos de colección.

En un video que ha estado circulando mucho por Internet, podemos ver una visita guiada por la sala:

Analizando las cosas que hay… no les suena a poco? Hay cosas interesantes, es cierto, pero siguen siendo unos cuantos lugares comunes (cartuchos de NES, cartuchos de Famicom… sorpréndanme!). Lo cual no quita que, del otro lado del globo, uno muera de ganas por estar ahí aunque deba soportar a disfrazados tenebrosamente parecidos a…

Brrrr… malditas imágenes mentales.

Pero en fin, la invitación está hecha y para quienes quieran darse una vueltita con la excusa de ir a comprar el pan a la vuelta de casa, pueden pasar por ahí.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii es un videojuego que está siendo desarrollado por Nintendo para Wii y es prácticamente una secuela del juego New Super Mario Bros. para Nintendo DS. Se espera su lanzamiento el 15 de Noviembre 2009 en America y el 20 del mismo mes en Europa.

Según el tráiler del juego vale oro y habrá nuevos poderes (como Mario helicóptero que puede volar, o Mario pingüino que puede congelar a los enemigos), además de poder jugar ahora hasta cuatro personas simultaneamente y la opción de elegir a diferentes personajes: Mario, Luigi y dos Toads (uno azul y uno amarillo, que valen literalmente callampa).

Entre otras novedades está la reaparición de los Koopalings (los otros 7 hijos de Bowser, que protagonizaron juegos como Super Mario Bros. 3 o Super Mario World) desde su última participación en el juego Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga (Gameboy Advance, 2004). Ademas es la primera vez que Bowser Jr esta con sus hermanos. el juego tiene 8 mundos asi que en un mundo aparece bowser jr y en los otros mundos apareceran su hermanos (uno en cada mundo) Se van a poder usar varios tipos de controles, como se observó: Wiimote en forma horizontal (en el E3) y el Wiimote + Nunchuk (en el de Gamescom) y Además Puede Usar El Control Clásico (Como En NES, SNES, N64 y Game Cube).

Pero Mario viene renovado esta vez. El título -cuyo antecesor se presentó para la Nintendo DS– tiene un modo multijugador para que hasta cuatro personas disfruten a la vez de un escenario. Los jugadores pueden colaborar con sus compañeros para terminar la misión o tenderles trampas para dificultarles el camino.

La mala noticia es que New Super Mario Bros Wii no podrá jugarse a través de Internet. El modo de juego es simple: se coge el control de forma horizontal y se utiliza de la forma clásica. No obstante, si el mando se inclina, algunas superficies se inclinan de acuerdo al movimiento.

Cabe resaltar que mario vuelve en el formato con el que se hizo famoso 2D, Además del modo de historia principal se tendrán dos modos de juego extra dedicados totalmente al multijugador. Uno llamado “Batalla de Puntaje” en la que se clasificará a los jugadores de acuerdo a su puntuación, monedas, vidas y tiempo. El otro se llamara “batalla de monedas” y se clasificara a los jugadores de acuerdo a la cantidad de monedas que posea.

Y bueno para los nostalgicos de este juego, que lleva 23 años cautivando a pequeños y grandes, y que a demas tengan un wii falta muy poco para que salga ala venta asi que disfrutenlo y me cuentan como les fue

I recently discovered that November is the “Month of the Mo[ustache],” and I couldn’t be happier. Mainly, it’s because I have been waiting for the perfect time to unleash my favorite moustaches. To boot, I have also recently been bombarded with promising new moustachios:

Tim Norwind is sporting a fine little friend in the new OK Go video, WTF.
Jude Law will be looking quite adorables with his stache in Sherlock Holmes.
Michael Cera’s moustache in the upcoming Youth in Revolt has sealed his place in my heart.

To put it plainly, it is not that easy to pull of this look. Too many poor souls wander down the wrong side of a Ron Jeremy porn stache or Hulk Hogan handle bar. I’ll also say that only men 65+ can work the Wilford Brimley and only John Waters can rawk the John Waters pencil stache (ne the Vincent Price).

On to my list of the Top 10 ‘Staches:

Let it be known that Tom Selleck is king of the moustache, and inevitably tops any list of this variety. To give the other fellas a fair shake I’ll leave him at zero. Consider it the master level (Also, honorable mention goes to the foxxxy Sam Elliott and the grey co-pilot on his face).

10. Lando Calrissian

Point is, Lando knew how to accessorize. He worked the hell outta that cape. The stache was sweet icing on that periwinkle cake.

9. The Mario Bros

I’m technically cheating by doubling up here, especially since they have two very distinct looks…but I don’t care. It’s my list, so deal with it. Anywho, you think it is coincidence these two are the most iconic video game characters of all time? It’s all in the stache. Suck it, Link.

8. Jack Whitman (Jason Schwartzman in The Darjeeling Limited)

The beauty of a good moustache is that it adds to your character. Jack was the sweetest, oddest little brother that was made ten times better, because he was ’stached. Lines like “I love you too, but I’m gonna mace you in the face!” wouldn’t have been as cute without his trusty follicle emoter there to assist him.

7. Ramathorn (Jay Chandrasekhar in Super Troopers)

Props must be given to the only man I’ve ever heard pull off the “Who wants a moustache ride?” line without being all creepy. Plus, you know its a good stache if, post-shaving, the actor continues to look incomplete.

6. Basil Fawlty (John Cleese in Fawlty Towers)

I’ll just come out and say it: John Cleese is not as funny without the stache (I’ll make an exception for A Fish Called Wanda). Basil is the perfect example of good Cleese–high strung and hi-larious!

5. Ned Flanders

The soup strainer is where it’s at! Alls I’m sayin’ is if I lived in Springfield, I might swing past the Leftorium every now and again.

4. Freddie Mercury

He was pretty good without it, but this was a man made for the moustache. What good old-fashioned loverboy could do without one?

3. The Joker (Cesar Romero in Batman)

This is a serious stache. Romero was so keen on his little friend that he refused to shave it during his iconic turn as the Joker. That is awesome.

2. Rhett Butler (Clark Gable in Gone With the Wind)

It’s an oldie but goodie, for sure. Gable ruled this look until Selleck came along and ended the era of the skinny stache. On anyone else, this would just not work. Bonus: it tamed the wily Scarlett O’Hara. Power!

1. Daniel Plainview (Daniel Day Lewis in There Will Be Blood)

I think it might be time for the crown to be officially passed to DDL. He makes one fine moustache, and like everyone else on the list, just doesn’t look right without it. (Note: Bill the Butcher is quite fancy, but the thought of a heavily waxed stache is a bit too much to deal with.)

That’s it. So stop shaving, guys, and see what kind of man you are.

Note: I tried to keep this to straight on moustaches, so sorry, goatee and beard accompaniments.
