Every time I come home for a weekend or for break, my OnDemand channel always let me catch up on older episodes of The OC. As I was watching two eps. from the second season today while eating breakfast, I started to wonder why The OC was so successful. I loved the show. Many people enjoyed it, but why was this show any different? Why is The OC more recognized than One Tree Hill or Smallville? These are the reasons I have come up with:

- The show was well liked by both males and females

- The show produced GREAT music. Indie rock at its best.

- You liked all of the main characters (Ryan, Marissa, Seth, and Summer)

- Newport Harbor High was way better than your highschool ever was

- It introduced new vocabulary to your every day life like Christmakah, stealth, brooding, etc. We all know that you never used to say that until The OC came along!

- Death Cab For Cutie performed on an episode

- It brought to light a new kind of humor

- They always rotated new characters in to create more excitement, but when you got tired of them, their exit timing was appropriate.

- They dressed well!

- You always knew in the end the Summer and Seth would end up together and Ryan and Marissa …sort of

- The OC lasted four strong seasons – well maybe 3 cause Marissa died.

- Catchy theme song – Phantom Planet’s California

- The OC launched the careers of all of the actors and actresses

- The OC really stands for “THE Orange County,” making it sound 10x more epic

Credo che non conoscere questa canzone sia impossibile.

Ve ne propongo due versioni, tratte entrambe da uno dei teen drama più seguiti: The O.C.

La canzone venne usata in ben due finali di stagione: quello della prima (in cui Ryan di ritorno a Chino dice addio a Marissa) e quello tristissimo della terza in cui Marissa muore tra le braccia di Ryan.

Stessa canzone per due antitetici addii. L’addio di Ryan è affidato alla voce di Jeff Buckley; quello di Marissa a quella di Imogen Heap. I video dopo il salto.

Voltando ao Especial Seriados & Realities resolvi lembrar de um seriado que eu era fascinada, The OC. Naqueles tempos que não existia Gossip Girl nenhuma garota sonhava com o guarda-roupas de Blair, Serena ou Jenny… o que todas queriam eram as roupas de Marissa Cooper e o estilo californiano de Summer Roberts.

Pois foi extamente isso que me fez revirar o fundo do baú, buscar o máximo de imagens possíveis para fazer um post cheio de lembranças e referências do que a garota-problema Marissa, interpretada por Mischa Barton, usava nos dias ensolarados de Newport Beach.

O que ela mais usava eram sainhas com blusinhas, sempre com acessórios incríveis e quase sempre com alguma bolsa Chanel.

Marissa usava bastante jeans também das mais variadas formas.

No guarda-roupa da personagem também tinham vestidos tanto para noite como para dia.

Muitas blusinhas também faziam parte da wish-list de muitas garotas.

E por fim algumas outras peças que faziam parte desse guarda-roupa.

E apesar de Marissa ter sido a garota-problema do seriado, quando ela morreu no fim da terceira temporada o programa perdeu a graça e as roupas mais incríveis!!!!

     Mischa Barton a eterna Marissa Cooper de OC (amoo) lançou sua linha de bolsas, nada muito enlouquecerdor mais tem algumas bonitas, com um estilo folkvintage a linha de bolsas está a venda desde de julho deste ano, é claro que nós  não vamos ver tão cedo as criações de mischa aqui nas terrinhas brasileiras mais vale a pena dar uma olhada.

Mansions pel valor de milions de dòlars,  platges extenses plenes de cossos bronzejats, taules de surf movent-se al ritme de les ones, cabells rossos brillant a la llum del sol, vestits Roberto Cavalli, faldes Channel i reunions socials de totes les maneres, tot això és Newport Beach, tot això és la Califòrnia esnob, tot això és The O.C.

The Orange County narra les aventures d’un grup de joves que viuen a un dels barris més exclusius de l’estat americà més assolellat. Sí, si heu pensat que és la típica sèrie on els adolescents tenen les hormones exageradament exaltades i es passen el dia tenint problemes propis de gent 10 anys més grans que ells, heu encertat! Ens trobem davant d’un producte televisiu que, tot i ser més modern, és una còpia de la famosa Sensación de vivir. Com aquesta explora tots els problemes  presents en la societat del moment: anorèxia, alcoholèmia, drogoaddicció, maltractaments, accidents de tràfic, embarassos no desitjats… tot i més té cabuda dintre d’aquest gastat, però encara eficient, format.

Podríem passar-nos hores objectant i criticant ferotgement tal sèrie i les seves mancances, tot i això, ningú pot negar l’èxit que va recollir durant els seus 3 primers anys d’emissió. Tots aquells escèptics als drames televisius adolescents van caure a les xarxes del Comptat Taronja. I és que, qui es pot resistir a la riquesa i l’estil de vida dels més afortunats? La resposta és que, per molt més que s’intenti, ningú.

 Així, que aquesta ficció es recomana a tots aquells que estiguin interessats amb el luxe i la moda, però també a aquells que vulguin passar una estona entretinguts enmig de belleses americanes i continguts hormonal-adolescents

Ai dá tanta saudades do The OC às vezes, né? A gente fica lembrando dos bafóns da Marissa com o Ryan e dos modelos sucesso do casal Summer e Seth. Nessa época, eles ainda eram jovens e saudáveis.

I’m walking into Spiderwebs…so leave me a message and I’ll call you back….I bursted into No Doubt’s “Spiderwebs” when I saw this picture. I don’t know what happened to our dear Marissa Cooper. Back when The OC was my favorite TV show, Mischa Barton was the good girl gone bad that we loved. After the show she disappeared and so did her fashion sense. Here she demonstrates for us an example of a good concept gone wrong. Bondage and too much cutouts = hooker wear. Hope she gets out of this spider web of a mess in the fashion arena soon.

Posted by Radar Online, the pictures show Mischa, bloated and unkempt, looking nothing like the girl she was in the OC days.  She looks so lost and sad.  I would have NEVER known that was her.

Drugs, man.  They eff you up.

So last night, news broke that Mischa Barton had been taken to the hospital in a police car after suffering complications from oral surgery (ie she had had her wisdom teeth taken out)… Of course, that didn’t exactly add up–why would you go to the hospital in a police car, voluntarily, to escape the papparrazi as her publicist claimed.

Well, the reason is because Mischa apparently suffered an extreme meltdown and has now been placed under involuntary psychiatric hold (also known as code 5150).  While details of the reason behind this can be released to the public due to HIPAA laws, Barton can be held in the psychiatric ward for up to 72 hours.  According to the code, patients can be put into the psych ward involuntarily if they are seen as a danger to themself or others (ie sucidal or homicidal) or seem to be suffering from an extreme mental illness.

While her publicist did say Barton would not be attending the premiere of her new film “Homecoming” tonight in New York City, no other details were released.

I used to have a huge crush on Mischa when I was like 13 and the OC was first on.  Then I kind of grew out of it because Marissa died and she turned into this wild party girl, but seriously, where is Ryan when you need him??!?

Speaking of which, I can never help turning to the channel on tv that’s playing some crazy old episode of the O.C. The one I saw yesterday was the one where Caleb and Julie were divorcing but Julie was scheming up some master plan to drug Caleb to delay the divorce proceedings yada yada and Kirsten is a drunk. What’s happening with the rest of the folks from that show?

Ryan (Ben McKenzie) is on a hot new cop drama called Southland. I gave it a chance and watched the first few episodes and it’s quite good. Who knows if the show will last…. it’s filmed in a way that mimics reality, kinda like COPS but with more editing. Well, the editing of language is left intact on purpose so when you watch the show, you will hear plenty of bleeps. It’s weird at first, but you get used to it.

Ahh Summer Roberts (Rachel Bilson) is so busy nowadays playing house with her fiancé Hayden Christensen up in Canada. So cute. Did I mention that Hayden was on my flight to LA from Toronto last May? I should’ve said hi but he was sitting in first class and I was stuck with the commoners and screaming babies in coach. *sigh*

And, who cares about the rest of the show HAHA!

THE OC VS. GOSSIP GIRL!

This started when I googled Jenny Humphrey last week to get some pictures to my last post. And then the picture below came up:

So I thought, yes, Jenny Humphrey from Gossip Girl looks a bit like Kaitlin Cooper from The OC.

Now, I usually just “click myself” straight to the picture when I google (you know, no’t bothering about what page the picture’s from), but this time I thought I could check it out. And I found a hole bunch of look-alikes of characters from The OC and Gossip Girl. And I realized, yes that’s kind of true. Now, all of the look-alikes doesn’t look THAT much alike, but you can see some simulations between everyone. And one other funny thing is that many of the characters in this look-alike, have the same kind of role. Anyways, check them out!
