i guess the last time i thought it was my last post of the year but i guess not ^^

just before i left for San Francisco my mom and my brothers went to the shop and i asked to buy the manga’s that i missed. so now i’ve finally the last Marmalade Boy, Bleach 9, Fruits Basket 9, 7 (all) Alice 19th and my brothers bought 7 DNAngel and 8 naruto which i only read DNAngel from my brothers.

the day when we left for San Francisco i didn’t sleep coz we took the train of 6 o’clock in the morning to Antwerpen and from there the TGV (a train that’s fast) to Holland. but there TGV was on delay for 20 minutes and when we were fineally on the train, it got stuck and we ahd an other delay of 1 hour and a half. so we missed our flight and waited till the next plane which was the next day, so we searched first for a hotel to sleep. but after that everything was fine ^^

so for now i wish to all the people who read this post, a merry christmas and a happy new year ^^

it’s been 2 months now that i started to write on this blog

and as you know altough i think every month i change my header

this time it’s Marmalade Boy

because in December the last Marmalade Boy will be Released in Dutch but i can get it in 2010  T_T  but i heard that they are producing Fushigi Yuugi in Dutch so i can’t wait to see it >_<. next week i’ve tests from all the subjects in school (i don’t wanna do it >_<). in December i’m in the USA in San Francisco for vacation so i think this is the last post of 2009 T_T. so the next time when you see a new post it’s probably in 2010 ^_^

previous saturday me and my friends went to leuven (Belgium) to go see a movie. after that we went to go shopping. in the fnac i bought 8 manga’s: Marmalade Boy 7, Nana 8,9,10,11,12 and 13 and D.N. Angel 3 >_< .

 it was a great day because that week and the next few weeks ti’s 3+1 Free so i spent 30 euro on 8 manga + i’ve got 2 free bags of manga and 2 free cards of the 2 Nana’s

Sinopsis: Marmalade Boy narra la historia de Miki Koishikawa, una estudiante de 15 años para los 16, cuyos padres realizan un intercambio de parejas con la familia Matsura, que tiene un hijo de su edad, Yuu. Los padres deciden vivir bajo el mismo techo con sus hijos, y Miki, que se muestra reacia al principio, poco a poco se enamora de su hermanastro. Miki y Yuu se declaran en el capítulo 25 con un bonito beso, y a lo largo de los 76 capítulos de la serie se intentan entrometer todo tipo de personajes entre ellos dos. Hacia el final se descubre un terrible secreto que hará aún más turbulenta la relación de ambos.

My gosh, I can’t believe I forgot to write about this – I’ve started my own anime fanfiction blog. That’s right – I’ve actually started to get into fanfiction writing. =D So far, my current project is a Spirited Away story. In the future, I’m thinking of making some shoujo fanfics, like ones based on Fruits Basket, Marmalade Boy, Peach Girl, etc.

Marmalade Boy is your standard mid-90’s shoujo series. Slightly hyper girl, lots of love triangles, will-he-or-won’t-he, wife swapping swingers, incest, you know, the standard. For the first 74 episodes (over the course of months), I watched the show with a straight face. Sure it got melodramatic or somewhat implausible at times (why do you have to always sit there assuming the most outlandishly bad situations are true, Miki?), but in the way that’s par for the course in a shoujo series. Nothing that would take you out of the show.

Then, in the last two episodes, they go to New York City. The fact that the show gets ridiculous here is amplified by the fact that there was a large New York City arc of about a dozen episodes or so. Outside of some little things like the characters staying a giant dorm surrounded by a huge yard in the middle of Manhattan, or mixing up New Jersey, New York City, and Long Island, there was nothing too egregious. Then, we end up with these:

Wuh oh? Anywhere? You’ll see why this is a serious problem in a minute!

Whew. So being Japanese, OBVIOUSLY Miki goes to the “East Village”. In quotes of course because LOL SKYSCRAPERS LOL. Anyway, Yuu has been in pursuit of Miki and is worried, and for good reason!

OH SHIT, THE MOST DANGEROUS CITY IN THE WORLD! Sorry Detroit, sorry Beirut, none of you guys can compare to Manhattan (and a New York City which by 1996 had seen its crime rate plummet in half in just 5 years), and worst of all, THE HARLEM AREA! (Also, sorry Brownsville and East New York, you guys aren’t even the most dangerous neighborhoods in the five boroughs any more!)

OH FUCK SHE IS IN HARLEM! Also, she somehow went 120+ blocks pretty damn quickly!

OH SHIT! THE MOST DANGEROUS CITY IN THE WORLD INDEED! Also, lolololololololololol getting chased by some white gang in HARLEM lolololololololol.

Fortunately, Miki is rescued by a pair of Magical Negros, who teach her the important lesson that it doesn’t matter what color you are, the idea that it’s OK if it’s with you, onii-chan is universal.

But then this touching scene is ruined when the Jets crash the party looking for some payback/money for crack. Fortunately, Yuu brings the fuzz with him.

Would I watch it even if I weren’t forced? It’s wayyyyyyyyyyy too long, but would I ever watch those last two episodes again for the lulz.

For a while now, I’ve preferred Shoujo Beat manga over Tokyopop, just because their selection is all shoujo, and good ones at that. Sure, Tokyopop does produce Fruits Basket, Peach Girl, Marmalade Boy, and Kare Kano, four of my favorite manga, but most of my favorite manga is made by Shoujo Beat.

Recently, Tokyopop’s given me another reason not to buy from them. They’ve canceled translation of any more volumes of LIFE, which is up there on my list of top manga. For a while now, there’s been speculation about the cancellation of this series, since volume ten’s release date has been “postponed” for a long time. Fans haven’t known for sure whether or not it would return. But, just yesterday, I was searching into this, and I found out through a message board that LIFE is, indeed, nevermore here in the U.S. *sigh* The thing that really sucks about this is that I probably won’t be able to read LIFE anywhere now. There are hardly any scanlations online, and where there are any, there’re very rarely complete volume translations, just chapters here and there.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to trash Tokyopop or anything. I fully understand that they’ve had to make severe cuts and lay-offs due to the struggling economy, and thus translation and production has slowed down a great deal. But what doesn’t make sense to me is that they’re releasing new manga series. Take for example, Natsuki Takaya’s “Tsubasa wo Motsu Mono”, or Those With Wings, which is one of TP’s most recent releases. Why are they releasing new series when they can’t afford to completely translate series they’ve been already working on? I mean, in the end, they’ll probably have to cancel all these new series as well. Why not just finish their old series, the ones people have been eagerly following, the ones people really care about? I could go on and on, but I won’t. I just really hate this.

*sigh* Well, I hope I’ll somehow be able to finish reading all 20 volumes of LIFE. The drama was awesome, and I’d really like to read the original.

Now, I know for sure I’m just going to stick with Shoujo Beat manga. At least they don’t let me down.

Un pò di novità/ristampa la prima è Battle Royale, titolo acquistato dalla Planet Manga, riveduta e corretta:-( …speriamo almeno ci siano state cose da correggere. La seconda novità/ristampa è Marmalade Boy per la gioia di molte:-). In una volta sola arrivano gli altri tre titoli dedicati a Dragon Ball Evolution da parte della Star Comics. E poi…vogliamo parlare di One Piece 51? Finalmente nelle fumetterie arriva l’atteso nuovo numero della serie, facendo slittare per l’ennesima volta lo speciale Yellow…ma i lettori non sembrano dispiaciuti di questo. Buona lettura a tutti. Continua lo sconto del 30% sui fumetti fino al 29 Aprile ‘09, su tutti gli arretrati  fino a gennaio ‘09. Un’altra cosa importante che riguarda questo carico. Dopo “Monster”, dopo “20th Century Boys”, Planet Manga è lieta di annunciare l’arrivo dell’ultimo lavoro di Naoki Urasawa, uno dei mangaka più famosi e apprezzati di oggi. “Pluto” si ispira al personaggio omonimo creato dal grande Osamu Tezuka nella serie “Tetsuwan Atom”, conosciuta in Italia come “Astro Boy”. Tutto inizia con la misteriosa morte di Mont Blanc, uno dei robot più potenti della Terra, amato da tutti. A indagare su questo caso, e sulla morte di molti altri robot c’è il detective Gesicht.
Vincitore nel 2005 del prestigioso “Osamu Tezuka Cultural Award”, e dell’“Excellence Prize” nella divisione manga del Japanese Media Arts Festival, elogiato e apprezzato da tutti, Pluto è già un capolavoro. Ecco come un genio rilegge l’opera di un altro genio.
