What words of wisdom can we learn from such an old soul. Yoda once said to me: “Size matters not. Look at my presents. Judge them by size, do you? Hmm? Hmm. And well you should not. For my gifts are imbued with  the Force, and a powerful gifts it is. Life creates it, makes it grow. Its energy surrounds us and binds us. Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter. You must feel the Force around you; here, between you, me, the tree, the rock, everywhere, yes. Even between the land and the presents.”

I sat and pondered this for a moment, while I know Yoda is about 900 years old, (and a bit senile at times) I weighed the wisdom this ole Jedi handed out freely. Wondering when would I get such a connection to the force, to really grasp that a gift isn’t, shouldn’t be judged by it’s size, ram, processor or $$ tag,  but it’s creation, and the substance that bonds us to it. When asking Yoda about the future gifts, and digging deeper for a true knowledge of the Holiday seasons; Yoda said this “Only what you take with you.” I was deeply moved. “Only what I take with me.” he said.

It all started about 10 minutes ago. I was in my study, when I felt a great disturbance. Quickly I ran to see whats the matter… and to my surprise; Obi-Wan Kenobi, Mace Windu, Qui-Gon Jinn, Ki-Adi-Mundi, and  Kit Fisto were all huddled around Master Yoda, I only heard the last words of Grand Jedi; and he said this…Blind we are, if creation of this gift from the Grinch we could not see.“Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those around you who transform into the Spirit. Mourn them do not. Miss them do not. Attachment leads to jealously. The shadow of greed, that is.” I wasn’t sure what was going on. Were we under attack? Did we get new information on what the Grinch was up too? The last Intel we’d gotten was that the Grinch was spotted riding one of Count Dooku’s transits. It seems they were up to something. A mysterious gift had been dropped off a few days ago. No one paid any attention to it, as in the last few days gifts being delivered were a common site to all. We should have been more careful.

It was exactly 9:30 am, the small present was carefully wrapped with the slightest attention to detail being taken, Count Dooku handed the pretty red wrapped-snow covered gift over. You wouldn’t have guessed, that under this brightly, carefully wrapped gift lay the ultimate betrayal to the Jedi; the ultimate insult. A deceleration of war. It wasn’t an obvious notion. More cunning, the other Jedi’s wouldn’t get it at first. Ah, but yes, Master Yoda would. It would send across just the right message.

The innocent trooper who had unknowingly, unwilling set him self up for a ripe old lashing from the Jedi masters when they figured out who it was that brought this disgrace into the Jedi temple, was quietly awaiting for his next guard relief to arrive; when I walked up and started asking him questions as to the present that was found. “I was sent by Obi-Wan to question all the guards on duty this morning between 5:30 am and 9:30 am.”  “Mr… storm trooper, were you on duty between these times?” ” and  you also being  in charge of visitor log, checking in and out all in coming packages and personal?” “Yes sir, I was.” ” I can’t remember much from the morning sir! I’m feeling a bit under the weather, it’s bit stuffy under this helm.”

“Kal!”, Obi-Wan called, “hold that guard!” “We spotted this guard bringing in the gift early this morning.” Obi-Wan had explained that Master Windu had suggested reviewing the Jedi-security cams from last night till this morning. Turns out it paid off. They had spotted storm trooper #ST-01034 on camera about 8:45 am entering the Jedi temple with a small pack on his side, and then later upon checking his time clock, he was 2 minutes late clocking in for his shift, and no pack was visible on his return to his station.

A further investigation has been set for after the holidays, but as for the “present/gift” that everyone was talking about… I don’t get it. I saw it for myself, and well to be honest, it doesn’t seem all that bad to me. Don’t let this get out, but here’s a picture I snapped before the counsel took off with it.

Christmas is the time to create memories for yourself and your family. It is the time to meet and catch up with your loved ones and enjoy the magic and wonder of sharing and receiving. The nostalgic memories of freshly backed Christmas cake made by your mother and your father playing Santa for you or making snowmen with your siblings are some of the brightest glimpses of your life. Here are some tips on how to spend a family vacation to make it the most enjoyable time of the year:

• Before leaving for outdoor activities, it is always best to check weather forecast and conditions, especially when you are going for adventure trip or for activities like skiing or hiking.
• Cooking for a festive meal for the large family gatherings can be quite a daunting task. So, anybody who is acting as the host and the chef will surely appreciate your share or help in the household or kitchen chores.
• During holidays, if you are planning to travel to the family or with the family, it always pays to be early. Buy tickets early, call to confirm that the flight or train is on time before you leave home, avoid traffic jams by leaving early for the airport/bus stand/railway station, arrive there early. Being first in line always helps.
• If you are planning for a trip with the family, it is better to ask everybody what they will like to do there. Make sure everybody has something special to enjoy on the holiday trip.
• Time with children is the most enjoyable part of the family vacations. Play with them and be ready and patient with their endless questioning.
• While planning for a Christmas vacation with your family, it is always best to wrap your gifts much ahead of time. Fragile gifts should be packed very carefully and if you are not planning to carry gifts with you, it is better to ship them several days ahead of time, so they arrive in time for Christmas. However, if you are taking a flight or traveling internationally, wait until you arrive in your destination country so that you don’t have to unwrap your gifts again and again for security checking.

I love Christmas for all the glittery lights and warm cozy feelings. Of course this year, and really every year for me, Christmastime is surrounded by end-of-the-semester busyness. But let’s not talk about such sad things. lol.

I am happy to go home for my Winter break this year. I miss my mom and dad and all my friends and just Oklahoma in general. I love SoCal and all the people here of course! I couldn’t imagine life without them!!! But it’s good to go back to your old home every now and again. I haven’t seen them since I moved out here. I really really hope it snows.

I know that sometimes the holiday seasons can be stressful for people, and there might be all these expectations, but I just want to wish everyone in my life and all of our readers a beautiful season of peace and rest (for however long that is possible) and I hope everyone has at least someone they can get a Christmas hug from. I am going to wear my pink santa hat in hopes of getting one Christmas hug each day. Okay, I need to go find my roomie now. . . XOXO

Santa Dies of Heart Failure
My family had been glued to the TV set since we first heard that Santa Claus was taken to The North Pole Regional Medical Center. With in a few hours our television programming was interrupted with a news flash. The reporter appeared on the screen with tears in his eyes as he reported that the jolly Old Man had died from heart failure. Later the next day there was a news break that explained that Mrs. Claus and the elves were heading back to the North Pole with a large red sack of ashes. The anchorman went onto say that the Air Force had offered an escort but Mrs. Claus chose to be guided home by Rudolph.
Needless to say that bit of news destroyed any Christmas spirit my family had.
We agreed with the President the twenty fifth of December should be a national day of mourning. Just hours before Saint Nicks ashes were to be scattered another news bulletin came across the screen; the president of Toys R Us had committed suicide.
Now even more depressed we agreed to see a play “The Christmas Carroll”. With no toys or presents to buy we had nothing but time on our hands.
One night we went to a special musical at the church. Another night we went out Caroling. We had close friends over for a meal one night. Later we set around the fire and enjoyed a bottle of special wine that had been set a side. “Christmas at the Zoo” took care of another night. One weekend was left open for trimming the tree. Then one evening was set a side for hand written notes placed carefully in each Christmas card. The weekend before Christmas was spent decorating the house and spending time with relatives.
As Christmas drew near some how the thought of Santa Claus seemed to melt away. My wife baked a cake that we took to our minister’s home. There we sipped coffee and discussed the other reason for the season. Christmas Eve came and we prepared a super of sandwiches and eggnog. Afterwards we huddled around the fire and mourned our loss. Later we joined a group of carolers that came to the door and we began to travel with them to the other houses in our neighborhood. As we sung our carols others joined the group.
I slept that night with a lighter heart than I had known in quiet a while.
The next morning I was back up and building a fire while my wife started the noon day meal. When she had finished there was enough food to feed a small army.
We looked at each other and without a word being spoken we soon found a rather large picnic basket. In a matter of minutes we were in our car heading down the road to a young widow’s home.
When we knocked on the door a small boy answered with his Christmas dinner in hand. It was a bologna sandwich. We choose not to drop the dinner off but to go inside and share it with the young woman and her 2 children. After dinner I sat in the floor and told the Christmas story to the children just as I had so many years ago to my own.
As we pulled in our driveway our own children and their spouses drove up behind us. They shared the events of the day that had taken place at there in laws and we shared ours
I banked the fire for last time later that night before retiring to bed.
As I pushed the glowing coals into a neat pile, I wondered to myself, was it possible that the world was better off without the old jelly belly man.

Что ж это за штука такая и откуда берется “праздничное настроение”? Парочка выходных и процесс приготовления оливье должны нас насторожить, но настроению то от куда взяться? Самозагруз – страшная сила, но не все владеют им в совершенстве. Принято думать, что для появления новогоднего настроения необходимо наличие всех, с детства знакомых, атрибутов этого праздника. Кроме шикарного стола с тазиком оливье, сюда можно отнести Деда Мороза со Снегурочкой, наряженную елку, поздравления родственников и друзей, ну и желательно белый снежок на дворе. Я попытался отыскать немного новогоднего настроения в сети, и вот что у меня получилось…

Поздравления родных и знакомых:

• Оригинальная поздравительная флеш-открытка в виде татуировок на различных частях тела Санты)

• Веселая поздравительная открытка по случаю наступления года крысы.

• Можно прикинутся эльфом и порадовать своих знакомых веселым танцем.

As you can see, I got some good things and some bad. Christmas at home was great this year but once you go to other peoples houses your presents start to turn into items that someone picked up at the old folks home for free.

Essa é a época dos sonhos. E eu espero sinceramente que todos os sonhos de vocês se realizem neste Natal. Penso que essa data não é somente presentes. É um dia de confraternização, de harmonia, de estar em paz com a familia. Se reunir, desejarmos uns aos outros paz e fraternidade. É a hora em que se esquece os preconceitos, os defeitos, e toda a falta de virtude. Pelo menos em um dia por ano, somos finalmente todos iguais.

Desejo de coração que sejam todos felizes neste Natal, e que possamos celebrar juntos muitos outros, que ainda estão por vir.
