Jag tänkte fasta från koffeinhaltiga drycker. Vill minnas att jag även förra året satt med mycket jobb precis veckan innan advent och därför hade ökat mitt beroende alldeles lagom… Så är det i alla fall i år. Hårt kommer det bli. Men fint också. Tänkte anta utmaningen och försöka att utan kaffe komma upp om morgnarna dessutom, något som jag knappt klarar av med.

Ora bem, finalmente perdi a contagem ao número de dias que por aqui já passei.

Nas duas últimas semanas, andei bastante atarefado. Tal como aqui tinha escrito, tive de fazer um projecto sobre a Ryanair, o meu 2º projecto do ano lectivo.

O meu grupo foi composto por 4 raparigas, 2 Espanholas, 1 Polaca e 1 Lituâna. No geral, podia ter sido pior. Trabalhar com Espanholas outra vez, não obrigado. Além disso, o trabalho acabou por ficar pronto a tempo e horas e mais ou menos dentro do que tinha sido estabelecido inicialmente.

Desde a última terça até ontem, foi especialmente complicado, uma vez que a Marta me veio visitar. Acabei por acordar com o meu grupo que trabalhavamos durante as manhãs, das 8h40 até às 11h ou 12h, consoante o dia. Assim, consegui trabalhar e consegui visitar a cidade com a Marta.

Falando da melhor parte, durante esta última semana, fiquei a conhecer sítios muito engraçados em Copenhaga.

Nos primeiros dias, visitamos o centro da cidade. Fomos à pequena sereia, ao palácio da Rainha e às praças mais conhecidas. Nunca fazendo refeições fora de casa, fomos lanchando e tomando café em sítios com pinta e com preços a condizer.

Num dos dias fizemos o mini-cruzeiro de barco pelos canais, para ver a cidade de uma outra perspectiva. No domingo, aproveitando o facto de ser o dia grátis na Ópera, fomos conhecer o majestoso edifício por dentro. Apesar de termos achado que os 350 milhões de euros que aquilo custou foram mal gastos, o mini-concerto de jazz que por lá vimos valeu bem a pena. No mesmo dia ao fim do dia, fomos à melhor confeitaria da cidade, onde pagámos menos de 20€ pelo lanche, um preço muito aceitável . Nessa noite ainda fui com a Marta a Christiania, onde estivemos em 2 bares com música ao vivo. Um deles tinha o nome de “Ópera” :p.

Segunda feira foi dia de prenda de natal antecipada: Napoli, no old stage do The Royal Danish Theater, um edifício muito bonito do século XIX.

Ontem passei a tarde em Malmo que, apesar de ser na Suécia, é parecido com Copenhaga, em ponto pequeno. Ao final do dia a Marta seguiu para o aeroporto e eu voltei para casa.

Hoje foi dia de entregar o projecto em mão. O resto do dia foi passado a arrumar o quarto. Daqui a pouco tenho um jogo de treino (ah, entretanto, a equipa onde jogo pólo disse que não preciso de pagar os 130€ por mês para lá jogar) e amanhã há aulas outra vez!

El próximo jueves 26 de Noviembre, proyectamos ¡Allirón! en el pub madrileño Big Ben (Plaza Matute 10;  21.00 horas).

El objetivo del proyecto, compuesto por videos de Iván del Rey de la Torre, Paula Noya, Marta Azparren, Rubén Coll y Álvaro Collar, es proyectar piezas de video con la temática fútbol en lugares donde normalmente se proyecte futbol.

Mi aportación a la proyección es una pieza titulada “c.1900″ en la que reutilizo peliculas de Mitchell & Kenyon, Edison y otros pioneros del cine.

Antes de la proyección de las piezas de los miembros del colectivo Haz!, se visionarán videos  encontrados en Youtube y Vimeo por el Observatorio de Video Digital.

This Thursday 26th of November, we are screening ¡Alliron! at 21.00 at the pub Big Ben (Madrid).

The aim of the project, with videos from  Iván del Rey de la Torre, Paula Noya, Marta Azparren, Rubén Coll & Álvaro Collar, is to screen video art pieces about football at places where normally footbol is watched. 

My contribution to the screening is the piece “c.1900″ in which I re-utilize original footage by Mitchell & Kenyon or Thomas A. Edison.

Prior to the art screening, the Observatorio de Video Digital (Observatory for the Digital Video) will showcase some clips from Youtube and Vimeo.

Well, lets just say the last few days have been eventful. Let me tell you.

The day after I wrote my last entry, what happened was we went out that evening for dinner and we saw a leaflet posted up for a festival taking place and Auditions for 2 days after, Father said no straight out. He hates us singing for the money. We were all gutted, but you know what happened?! When we got home, Mother gave the person a ring and they said its not a cash prize. She told Father and he said he’ll think about it. So we kept our fingers crossed he would say yes.

And the very next day…He said, YES! But he said if the prize is cash, we are not to accept it, as (according to Father) Rich people don’t like singing for the money. So we rung up and said he’d like us to audition for him. That same day! So at 3:00pm that day, we went to the place where the festival was getting held in about 5 weeks time, and as we sung, I watched his face at the same time. I could tell he wasn’t SO sure…So at the end of the song, I whispered to Mother “He isn’t sure.”, so we planned to do a 2 piece harmony, which we did and I watched his face, and I could tell he liked it. So when we finished the song, he said straight after to us “That was very good…”. Our faces lit up and he told us there on the spot “Your through to the contest.” . We were overjoyed! So that night we planned what we were going to sing. We planned to Harmonise ‘Do Re Mi’ and we chose our Exit song as ‘So long, farewell’. We are allowed to pick two songs.

The next day at school, we had to go straight to rehersal and we managed to arrange a 2 piece Do Re Mi harmony which came out nice, but it still needs ALOT of work. We changed our So Long Farewell routine a bit, that needs work too. We have lots to sort out for the festival, which is in 5 weeks time. About 1 week before it starts, we go for rehersal with the other people entering and get our order of appearance and all that. Its all fun! We have to reherse 3 times a week, once on a weekend and twice in the week.

Anyway, The good news was broke by some bad today after school. Father got a phone call From Uncle Max(good, right?) BUT he told us our house has been taken over….by some people from the army, And he has been in there apparently, he says all our stuff has been chucked out, apart from the beds and shelves. I was shocked to hear. He told me, Kurt, Louisa, Friedrich and Liesl and mother too. Marta and Gretl are too young to hear it, and it would upset worse than us. It was awful to hear. We’re vowed not to tell any of our friends, or anyone from the outside world about this, as they may turn on us. I’m am extremly upset about this, as this means we can’t return home to Austria after the war and live in that house again…! But we can still go back and visit when the war is over…! America is nice, just not as nice as Austria. Everyone agrees.

Then, after that, to cheer ourselves up, we cooked a nice meal together, apart from Father and the younger girls, we helped make Snitchzel, and baked cake for dessert. It actually took our minds off what happened in Austria, and we enjoyed it, and never thought about it after that! But I could tell Father still had it on his mind, he was acting as if he wasn’t bothered, but he was, I could clearly see it on his face. He tried to hide it though. But we didn’t talk about that, we just talked about the festival and all that. We are all very excited for that, and forthcoming rehersals too.

Anyway, I must go to sleep!! I must keep myself off those books at night…!

Futebol Feminino / Solidariedade

Os empresários Marcelo Strama e César de Souza, o Césinha, foram os idealizadores e organizadores do ‘FUTSHOW – Jogo das Faixas’, um megaevento, que foi realizado no sábado (21 de novembro), na cidade de Itanhaém (SP), com caráter esportivo, social e de entretenimento. Os dois foram os responsáveis pela vinda à cidade, pela primeira vez para atuar, da jogadora Marta, eleita duas vezes como a melhor jogadora do mundo; Cristiane, artilheira da Taça Libertadores; e todo o elenco do time de futebol feminino do Santos FC, capitaneado pelo técnico Kleiton Lima, para um dia inteiro de atividades.

Tudo começou pela manhã, com a atacante Marta e as zagueiras Aline Xavier e Kelly indo conhecer o Aeroclube da cidade, acompanhadas pelo técnico Kleiton Lima e pelos empresários Marcelo Strama e Césinha. A Rainha Marta esperou até os últimos minutos e já nos acréscimos resolveu não voar. Como estavam disponíveis dois aviões, com vaga para uma acompanhante em cada um deles, as três jogadoras ‘disputaram’ a oportunidade de sobrevoar a cidade no velho e conhecido ‘2 ou 1’. E, Marta acabou perdendo e ficou de fora do passeio, que acabou sendo um motivo de alívio para a artilheira.

“Foi uma experiência muito bacana, a cidade de Itanhaém vista de cima é muito bonita e recomendo este passeio a todos, já que é muito seguro e divertido”, comenta Kelly, que confessou ter ficado com medo antes de voar, mas isso logo passou e deu vez a momentos de descontração.

Já Aline Xavier também confessou ficar com medo antes de subir, mas como a colega de time, gostou bastante de sobrevoar a cidade. “É claro, que dá um frio na barriga antes de levantar vôo, pois é uma atividade que nunca realizei. Mas, foi muito divertido, emocionante e toda vez que tiver chance, vou repetir o passeio”, relata.

“Como sou mais velha, estou dando essa oportunidade a Kelly e a Aline Xavier de realizar este vôo”, brincou Marta.

Depois disso, as três jogadoras, ao lado do elenco santista e da comissão técnica, passearam em carro aberto pela cidade, recebendo o carinho e o cumprimento dos moradores e visitantes, que fizeram questão de acenar e buzinar para os integrantes do time campeão da Taça Libertadores de América.

“Fiquei feliz de ver a alegria de toda a população com a presença das ‘sereias da Vila’ em Itanhaém. O esporte só faz amigos e estas meninas são um exemplo para todos os nossos jovens”, felicita Césinha.

Na seqüência, a Rainha Marta, representando o elenco; o técnico Kleiton Lima, representando a comissão técnica; Ueze Zahran, presidente da COPAGÁZ, grande apoiadora do futebol feminino; além de Strama e Césinha atenderam aos profissionais da imprensa durante entrevista coletiva.

Para fechar com chave de ouro e bola rolando, as ‘Sereias da Vila’ realizaram um amistoso contra a Seleção do Litoral Sul e Vale do Ribeira, no campo do Palestra, vencendo por 10 a 0, com três gols da Rainha Marta, um de cristiane e mais Thaís e a capitã Aline Pelegrino, entre outras. Para marcar a hospitalidade de todos no Aeroclube de Itanhaém, Marta comemorou os seus três gols imitando um avião. Na preliminar, o Spy bateu o selecionado sub-20 do Litoral Sul e Vale do Ribeira, por 1 a 0.

Antes do jogo, as jogadoras e comissão técnica receberam as faixas alusivas ao recente título da Taça Libertadores de América – 2009.

O evento contou também com a ilustre presença de Gilson Bargieri, secretário de finanças do município de Peruíbe; e de Carlos Tadeu de Araújo, presidente do Satélite EC.

Mas, o mais importante de tudo isso, foi o gol de placa marcado no campo da solidariedade, pois o jogo teve a presença de cerca de seis mil torcedores e arrecadou uma tonelada de alimento, que serão destinados a entidades assistenciais de Itanhaém. “Conseguimos proporcionar momentos de alegria e entretenimento a população da cidade, como havíamos prometido, trazendo a melhor jogadora do mundo, Marta; a artilheira da Libertadores, Cristiane, e todas as suas companheiras, sem falar no técnico Kleiton Lima, que é filho da cidade. E, estou muito feliz, pois o jogo contou com a presença de cerca de seis mil pessoas, que contribuíram levando o alimento não perecível”, finaliza Strama.

A partir das 11:00 h deste sábado, as Sereias da Vila irão desfilar em carro aberto para saudar a população de Itanhaém

A melhor jogadora de futebol do mundo, a atacante Marta, já está em Itanhaém para o jogo oficial da entrega das faixas de campeão da Copa Libertadores da América, no Campo do Palestra, às 15:30.

Césinha e Marcelo Strama recepcionaram Marta assim que ela chegou na cidade, apresentaram o Centro Histórico e a Praia dos Sonhos e acompanharam até o Satélite Esporte Clube, onde foram recebidos com muita alegria pelos associados e pelos moradores.

A partir das 11:00 h deste sábado, a população local poderá saudar as Sereias da Vila nas ruas de Itanhaém, haverá um desfile em carro aberto com percurso programado de saída da Av. Jaime de Castro, passando pelo Centro, Praia dos Sonhos, Belas Artes, Cesp, CDHU e retornarão pelo mesmo trajeto.

A expectativa é de um grande público no Campo do palestra, uma grande arrecadação de alimentos e um espetáculo nos gramados Itanhaenses.

“Este dia ficará marcado na história de Itanhaém, é um fato inédito e de repercursão internacional. Vamos colocar Itanhaém no lugar em que merece e presentear Marta e as Sereias da Vila com o carinho do povo itanhaense” comemora Césinha.

So I started elementry school today and I did ok. Let me tell you about my day:

We arrived at school at 8:30am for school to start at 9:00am..Well  Friedrich is in higher school(or Hauptschule as we call it in Austria) and Louisa and Kurt, Middle school as they call it in the USA. Liesl is in college. Gretl isn’t in school. Marta is in 2nd grade, I’m in 5th grade, Kurt is in 6th grade, Louisa is in 8th grade and Friedrich is in 9th grade. The middle school and elementry school are joined up so we see Kurt and Louisa only at lunch.

Anyway, Once I got settled into my class, I discovered the first lesson was english(on my timetable written in German), good start, and it is not easy when your first starting. So I got out my German-english dictionary and wrote down translations and meanings in my english book. I wrote the meanings in German, but the words in English(even though, in Austria I was taught it and can speak it well). Then came maths, quite easy, then break, Marta and me sat together and we stuck side by side outside, as it was first day. She seemed to like school too.

After break, it was art lessons, I am a pretty creative girl and people say I’m a good artist, so that was no problem for me. We had to draw a picture of a winter scene, which was fun. I inspiried mine on Austrian mountains, and drew the Untersberg mountain, which is viewable from where we lived in Salzburg. I even drew the lake infront of our house(so basically drew the view from my house). The lesson was a double lesson and after that was lunch. After we ate, me Louisa and Marta met up. Kurt found an Austrian boy in his class and stayed with him, so he has a friend. Louisa said she got on ok, but she is the one out of us who can’t understand no english, and said she struggled a bit(she forgot what she’d learnt of english from mother and school). Marta got on ok, it seems like also.

The rest of the day went ok, the last two lessons were Biology and music. Musci was good fun, we sang and played instruments. We even sang a song in Spanish too-I didn’t quite pronounce the words right, but Its a nice tune and song. We got no homework.

I got home and because it gets dark early and cold these days, we all sat in the living room, once we’d changed out of our school uniforms, infront of the log fire. Father was at work so Mother sat with us. We got home at 4:00pm, and it was almost dark. At around 5:00pm, Father came home and we had dinner-an Austrian meal! Oh how I miss Austria. We had it like we used to, with candles on the table and all. And a dessert too, Liesl(as a nice treat) made us Sachertorte wiuth cream on the side, like we had it. We had water to drink, while father and mother had wine.  After that we just did our own thing, by that time it was 7:00pm and I curled up with a book on the sofa. The book was a book on Austrian history, I always read books like that, but for some reason, I just enjoy any book! I’m a bookworm.

Then, we all(children) decided to go up to bed at about 8:30pm as we’d had a long day. But i couldn’t sleep so I decided to write this, and now I am feeling tired. I’m going now!

Césinha e Marcelo Strama estiveram no município de Santos em almoço oferecido por Marcelo Teixeira para acertar últimos detalhes sobre o Fut Show, jogo amistoso que será realizado em Itanhaém no próximo sábado, 21, e contará com todo o elenco das “Sereias da Vila”.

Marcelo Strama aproveitou a ocasião e conversou com Marcelo Teixeira sobre a possibilidade de futuras parcerias para alavancar oportunidades para Itanhaém.

Césinha agradeceu o empenho do Santos Futebol Clube e ressaltou a importância do esporte como forma de divulgar a cidade, uma vez que este evento esta colocando Itanhaém na mídia nacional.

Marta, que também participou do almoço, tem presença confirmada no Campo do Palestra. O jogo tem a finalidade beneficente e tem a partida prevista para início às 15:30h.

Como eu já tinha postado aqui sobre o primeiro time feminino de futebol para mulheres cegas, vou falar de um resultado que nos da muito orgulho.

No último fim de semana (14 e 15 de novembro) o time da URECE, que tem como madrinha a jogadora Marta, conquistou o título da primeira copa do mundo de futebol feminino para mulheres cegas.

O time da URECE venceu o campeonato com 6 pontos contra 5 do St. Pauli-Mainz.

 A COPAGÁZ possui um compromisso com o Pacto Global das Nações Unidas, uma iniciativa mundial lançada pelo Secretário-Geral Kofi Annan no ano de 2000 que tem como objetivo difundir a responsabilidade social pelas principais empresas do planeta.

“A realização do FUT SHOW em Itanhaém tem também uma finalidade social. Está prevista uma arrecadação de alimentos que serão doados a instituições da cidade e a COPAGÁZ tem o maior prazer em participar deste evento” afirma Sr. Zahran.

In the middle of a dredged up yard in the Highlands, the tiny backhoe that had done the damage was sitting on top of a mound of earth. A man walking his long-haired dog had stopped to watch as I climbed halfway up one dirt mound to frame the shot. They eventually grew bored and continued walking perfectly into the frame. (below left)

“Have we met before?” I asked the barista after ordering a shot of espresso and a chocolate chip muffin. “You look familiar but I’m not sure from what”, she replied. “Marg, short for Margaret”, “Marg, Tim”, we exchanged names and said it was nice to meet again. I ate my muffin and drank my espresso, naturally sweet and syrupy. ”Who are you guys using for coffee?”, I asked Marg and the other barista behind the counter. “Batdorf and Bronson”, the bearded barista replied. “Marg,” I added, ”I just wanted to say that the shot tasted good.” She was proud of her accomplishment and replied, “Hopefully I’ll get my certification soon.” Latte art throwdowns and barista competitions are the eventual goal. I asked a few questions about their certification program, soon Mark was rushing to the back room to show me his certification flow chart, it was a simple diagram, I appreciated his enthusiasm. The MARTA Civic Center Station has long corridors forming an overpass which straddles the width of the highway. These serve as massive outdoor waiting rooms for those in transit, those in transition, and for some who, it seems, would rather not move at all. (above left)

The top point of the Bank of America building looks like it was made out of popsicle sticks especially prominent at night with the lights glowing from inside the structure. (above right)

One of the best skyline views of downtown Atlanta is from the top of the parking garage at the main campus building of the Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta. It has always been a favorite spot. Originally I sought out the buildings lighted signage seen from a distance the way a mosquito flies toward blue neon bulbs to its demise. The top two levels are blocked off forcing one to walk the final leg to reach this destination. At night these last two floors are an empty, hollow, uniform space flooded with strange orange lighting. The line between covered and uncovered parking is dramatic due to the blue neon glow that washes over the uncovered spaces. I watched the highway traffic moving below and the fairly quiet airspace above, peering through the viewfinder searching cropping framing shapes and lines, the light of the skyline. (below left)

The sun was gone at this point but the warmth of it lingered. As I walked toward the Arts Center I noticed further up the street a large illuminated light board reminiscent of Times Square. I walked toward it and set up a shot just waiting for something to move into the frame. Soon the Jesus Bus rolled up. It was only after taking the shot did I notice the faces from inside the bus peering out at me. (below right)

On Highland Avenue just south of Ponce De Leon in the area designated as Poncey Highlands I saw a No Parking sign at the Highland Inn indicating the lack of spots for their neighbors at Soul Vegetarian or any other nearby business. (above left)

There was a murky haze in the air on the northbound platform at Five Points station. The man to my right tried to escape from the frame but was not quick enough. An approaching train sped into view from the left and far down the platform a striking figure in white walked into the tunnel of light ahead. Overhead MARTA reminded us to be safe. (above right)

Perhaps too safe and cordial to the point of possessing no sense of self or belonging. A landscape that seems bright from a distance yet feels distant upon close examination. However some elements continue to have drawing power, striking shapes stay burnt upon minds. Not enough perhaps to drive us, yet we keep on moving until we can find what does excite each one of us. They are diverse and fleeting moments, but the more of them we collect and the more of them we share, the sooner we will find that collective sense of self, of definition, of a city which demands that you belong here.
