Remixes are either a hit or miss and normally most of them do not do justice to the original song. Some would argue what is the point of remixes if it is just some mindless beats and a repeat of vocals. But up and coming Dutch dj Bart B More has proven to us that you can remix a song to make it way much better than the original. Infact he made the song turn into a completely different song altogether. Originally a cute little ditty from French dj/producer Martin Solveig featuring the female vocals from fellow Canadian Martina from the group Dragonette (talk about United Nation!), this song was picked by Jean Paul Gaultier to promote his latest Ma Dame fragrance campaign and the video was filmed at Gaultier mansion with a cameo from Gaultier himself.

Bart B More took the cuteness of the song and turn it into this rave of a song complete with hard beats, repeated and extracted verses of the song (but in a good way). But the winning point of the remix is the excellent synth bassline which is very reminiscing of early 90’s classic Bizarre Inc. “Playing with knives” and to top it off, as the remix suggested, police sirens wailing throughout the remix. So very KLF. If you are longing for some good ole early 90’s rave, check out this remix, find an empty warehouse and start waving your hands up in the air.

Music has been a major part of my weekend/week. While I am staring blankly at my computer working in the computer program Rhinoceros 3D, I need a nice techno/remix beat playing to keep me going.

The first song I’ve chosen in my mini playlist is in honor of the concert I had to miss on Thursday. Yes. I missed the Dragonette concert in NYC. The reason being a mistake by the ticket sellers, Ticketweb.com. (Never buy from them, please). Their website said the concert was 18+. I am over 21 but bought tickets for friends who were under 21. The show was actually 21+. We found out the website’s mistake too late for me to make other arrangements. (I would’ve gone alone…but the location was a little sketchy.) BOO TICKETWEB.COM

Defected’s ‘Def.Com’ compilations will always remind me of my first (and so far only) car crash, as I was listening to Powerhouse’s ‘What You Need’ at the time that my 2 week old Fiesta ploughed into the side of an old lady’s Honda after she’d pulled out on me… I cared about the CD so much, that I sent my dad down to the salvage yard to eject and retrieve it from the CD player. And I listened to it on repeat while I laid up, unable to walk for 3 months.

Just thought I’d share this Defected video with you… No real reason behind it, just sit back and enjoy the music that one of the most prolific and superb labels has brought us over the last 10 years.

Prince au Grand Journal

Pour ceux qui comme moi n’ont pas eu la chance de voir Prince au Grand Palais ni à la Cigale. Ce soir, dans le grand journal présenté par Michel Denisot sur Canal+ , Prince a interprété trois de ces titres en direct accompagné par ses choristes, son exceptionnelle batteuse, ses musiciens et ses danseuses.

Le Grand journal s’est transformé en une salle de concert vibrante au rythme de ses chansons. Une ambiance et une énergie de folie sur le plateau.Prince est incroyable et je me suis régalée à l’écouter et à le voir. Super look, veste à paillettes, lunette oversize et quelques touches de léopard sur sa guitare électrique. Waouh il a tout compris Prince ! Génie de la musique et de du fashion style….

Le début de l’émission était consacré à un récapitulatif de ces titres et des interviews avec les célébrités présentent sur le plateau pour ce show privé: Ines de la Fressange ( élu comme la Parisienne de l’année dans le Figaroscope), Martin Solveig(qui travaille sur un album ou il remixe les tubes de Prince),Emma de Caunes, Slimy, Philippe Manœuvre et pleins d’autres invités.

Si vous l’avez loupé c’est dommage pour vous ! Mais il sera de retour en France car dans plusieurs interviews, il a déclaré « adorer Paris et vouloir à nouveau un appartement dans cette ville si érotique » A très vite Prince…
