I tried this on during a makeover at BB counter. This mascara really delivers; my dramatic, bold, curly lashes were screaming  ( if eyes could whisper ).

Despite the striking finishes, it feels feather-light and last at least 6 hours, without clumping /smudging and comes off easily ( when it’s time for removal ).

Definitely my party mascara.

Last night I went to Micheal McIntyre’s Wembley gig. It was hilarious. I laughed from start to finish and thought that my evening of comedy ended after his encore. Little did I know. I got on the tube, and started to take off my coat. I got just past my neck and realised the zip was stuck. So I start to tug, and tug, and tug. It was properly stuck. The friends I was with, being the supportive, helpful bunch they were started laughing, drawing the attention of fellow travellers to my plight.

Mild panic, slight claustrophobia, a sharp increase in body temperature and unavoidable humiliation set in. Obviously this did not help. Nor did the fact that I started to laugh…and having had quite an emotional week, the laughing turned to crying. I was on the brink of what my closest friends know as “the laughing/crying thing” (to be avoided at all costs). Seeing my acute stress – Rach, one of my oldest and dearest friends, just sat back an laughed, and nudged her mum out of her seat to help me. So now I am stuck in my coat, overheating, laughing, crying and now I have my friends mum, and my friend Gemma trying to free me from the zip. How embarrassing! All the while I can see more and more people trying not to look – but desperate to watch this most ridiculous of events from their front row seats.

You would think it would end there. Oh no. Rachel’s Mum had to give up, so Gemma took over. Her tactic was to be slow and gentle, speaking to me calmly (a red, mascara streaked giggling mess) and ever so gently tugging at the fabric wedged in the zipper – well that was after she tried the tugging with all her might tactic and punched me in the face. I promise you I am not making this up.

Fortunately just as we entered Zone 2 I was liberated. I believe there was even a cheer and a round of applause. I think everyone on the carriage certainly felt like they got their money’s worth of live comedy for one evening.

And I am off to buy a new coat. With buttons.

What it is: Covergirl Lashblast Length mascara ($7.59)

What it’s supposed to do: “Our new Elasta-Nylon formula flexes without flaking, giving you extreme, notice-me lashes all day long. Our longest brush ever gives you an 80% longer lash look.” [via Covergirl.com]

What it actually does: Umm… in a word, more or less nothing. One coat was honestly hardly noticeable, in terms of length, volume, and curl. Here, I’ll let you judge for yourself:

Alright, so the mascara didn’t do nothing, but it’s a pretty darn subtle difference – too subtle if you’ve got lashes as wimpy as mine. It provided minor curl, length (but not nearly 80% – I would give it maybe 30%, and that’s being generous), and almost no volume. However, what little it did provide lasted through the day with no smudging or flaking, hooray! Lashblast definitely performed best in the “length” category, so at least Covergirl isn’t guilty of false advertisement.

Pros: Doesn’t smudge or flake, lasts all day, doesn’t clump when layered

Cons: Provides very minor length, curl, and volume.

Overall: 2/5. I would recommend this only to someone who has great lashes to begin with and just wants a little extra boost – it won’t do much for the rest of us.

From Sephora, I scored Sephora by OPI Metro Chic and Benefit’s Bad Gal Lash.

From Target, I bought two Studio Tools brushes.  A skunk & crease brush.

Overall, I wish I would have bought more, but I’m happy with everything I got and it’s always fun to shop with my mom.  She’s an impulse shopper but so much fun!

when in last night’s miss south pacific interview portion, one of my favorite candidates, tonga’s paea williams, said that her best make-up advice to ladies is “waterproof mascara”, i knew she was my kind of beauty queen. and you have to trust her on that: she is a make-up artist by profession in hawaii.

my friends all know i never leave the house without mascara. it’s my thing. while most pinays and, as i found out here, fijians never miss swiping on lip color, i frequently go bare-lipped but perfectly fine as long as my lashes are covered.

with that, off i went to one of my most-trusted make-up sites, total beauty, to see what they think are the best waterproof mascaras in the market today. and i was happy to see a good mix of drugstore, bridge and luxury brands in their list of 12 best waterproof mascaras:

a good waterproof mascara doesn’t flake, stays put the whole day, won’t give you raccoon eyes. best for tropical climates because it withstands heat and sweat, you can even take a dip and it doesn’t run on you. if you’re attending a wedding where you expect hours of tears, dancing and general partying, your waterproof mascara will not ruin your face in photos.

so how do you remove it? waterproof make-up used to only respond well to oil or chemical make-up removers. but thanks to science, now waterproof mascara can be removed with ordinary soap and water. isn’t technology swell?

Step 1:  Prep skin with a lightweight foundation.  For a matte finish that will keep the focus on eyes, zap excess oil with pressed powder, says Blandino.  To try:  Almay Powder Skin Stays Clean.

Step 2:  Using a deep purple of black eyeliner (such as CG Smoothers Eyeliner in Onyx), follow the contour of upper and lower lashes.  Then sweep a shadow in a similar tone across lids.  The hottest shades are plum, eggplant and lavender—are super wearable says Strong.  Follow with a pale highlighter just above the crease.  To try:  M.A.C. Eye Shadow in Nocturnelle.  Rimmel Metallic Eye Gloss in Notting Hill.  For a range of color options, choose a multihued palette like Victoria’s Secret Eye Artistry Shadowing Pallette in pastel Plum or Revlon Illuminance Crème Shadow in wild Orchids.  Go for glamour with a gold shade, says Wende Zomnir, creative director of Urban Decay.  Curl lashes and apply two coats of thickening mascara, such as Dior MaximEyes Mascara in Plum.

Step 3:  Impart a natural dewiness with a translucent gel  on the apples of your cheeks.  Golden shades flatter a tawny tone, while pinks are best for fair complexions, say Zomnir.

Step 4:  Finish with a nude gloss.

So it’s been 10 days since my last post. I’ve tried writing a few posts, but they all felt very lackluster, uninspiring, and, well, boring. I mean, I know I’m not the liveliest or most talkative person to begin with, but through my writing, I’m usually more able to express a side of me that I don’t usually expose to the “real world”. So I’ve decided that even though this post may not be especially interesting or creative, and may be all over the map, I’m going to post it anyway.

34 Maitland Street, Toronto. They have an apartment available right now, but I’m looking to move for January 1st. I’m keeping my fingers crossed and praying that no one takes it! I’m not going to say too much about why this place is absolutely perfect for me because I don’t want to jinx my chances of getting it, but if you were to see this place, you’d think “that’s so Aminah!” (for those of you that actually know me, at least!)

I have one more interview to go, but I already know I have it in the bag – I mean, who can resist my charm, right? (haha,  just kidding!) When you really want to become part of a certain team, it’ll show, and well, as much as this also serves as my concrete means of survival (freelance work is too unstable), I actually love the vibe of their environment and everything this company has done to show their support of world issues. It would be an absolute pleasure to grow with them! Once again, I’m not giving details just in case!

They say to surround yourself with like-minded people and those who’ll encourage strength, resilience, and courage, and to leave behind the rest. Have no doubt, I’m weeding out the fear-mongers and anyone else who tells me  that I should anything else but fly. It’s time I spread my wings and show this world what I’m made of.

Una forma facil y rapida de tener la piel perfecta.

Primero:

Yo estoy usando Photoshop CS4, hay versiones anteriores que no tienen este efecto asi que antes de empezar Fijense si tienen Filtro / Desenfoque / Desenfoque de Superficie (Filter / Blur / Surface Blur) Si lo tienen sigan, si no bajense el CS4 jaj.

Arrancamos: Abrimos la imagen (pueden bajar el tamaño original desde aqui)

Duplicamos la capa y vamos a Filtro / Desenfoque / Desenfoque de Superficie (Filter / Blur / Surface Blur). Para esta foto use los valores que muestra la imagen a continuacion. Estos varian con cada foto, pero el mismo filtro le muestra una previsualizacion a medida que cambian los valores asi que fijense cual funciona mejor con su propia foto.

11 para el Radio y 14 para el Umbral. Fijense de tener checkeado el casillero de previsualizar.

Listo! jaja no, todavia no. Por lo que vemos la piel ya esta suavizada, pero tambien los ojos, la boca, el pelo, etc. No queremos que la imagen sea (tan) irreal asi que vamos a mejorar el detalle en ojos, cejas, boca y pelo.

Para esto vamos a crear una mascara en esta capa. En el panel de capas, abajo de todo hacemos click en el iconito que es un cuadrado con un circulo adentro. Se nos crea un cuadrado blanco al lado de la previsualizacion de la imagen en la capa. Asi:

Ahora, hacemos click sobre el cuadrado blanco para seleccionarlo. Usando la herramienta pincel y el color negro como principal pintamos arriba del ojo para devolverle el detalle.

El ojo de arriba todavia tiene el desenfoque aplicado. Una vez que pintamos con negro en la mascara de esa capa, el ojo desenfocado desaparece y nos muestra el ojo original (que es el de la capa de abajo).

Por que pintamos con negro? como la mascara es blanca, el blanco nos muestra todo lo que esta en esa capa. Al pintarlo de negro lo que hacemos es ocultar sectores de la capa a la cual esta aplicada la mascara.

Asi seguimos pintando los ojos, las cejas, los labios y el pelo. No se olviden que tambien se ve otra cara al costado. A esa tambien haganle los mismos retoques.

Ahora lo que nos queda es sacarle un poco de suavidad a la nariz para que no quede tan borrosa.

Lo que hacemos es, con el mismo pincel que estamos usando, le bajamos la opacidad a 50%

Pintamos sobre las lineas de la nariz para lograr un efecto mas natural:

En la imagen 1 todavia esta el desenfoque aplicado. En la numero 2 ya pintamos de negro 50% en la mascara. Usamos 50% por que no queremos que el efecto se vaya del todo, si no disminuirlo un poquito.

Ya casi listo, pero todavia tiene unas minimas imperfecciones en la cara. Para arreglar eso vamos a usar la herramienta parche (Patch tool)

Primero hacemos click en la previsualizacion en capa de la imagen. Despues usando la herramienta parche hacemos una seleccion en la parte a mejorar. Ej: el granito que esta entre los ojos.

Listo, una vez que removemos todas las manchas y granitos tenemos algo como esto:

As I was going through the mascara aisle at my local Rite Aid, I saw the same old blacks, dark blacks, super black blacks, and midnight blacks that I usually set my big green eyes on. Then I stumbled upon green mascara for green eyes! I thought it was a little strange, but I was intrigued so I tried it out.

And take my word for it: this mascara is wonderful!

Mascara should bring attention to your eyes and bring out the color. For many of us,  though – especially those of us with lighter eyes – black mascara doesn’t do that. Sure, swiping some ultra black onto those lashes makes your eyes look better, but it doesn’t make that color pop. And why wouldn’t you want those bright blues to pop?!

Well, this mascara does that; it highlights your eye color and your eyes. It’s brilliant and I just had to share!

Modo de fazer:
Pegue o lápis preto e desenhe no E.V.A a forma que deseja para a sua máscara.
